Tu B’av 🤍 The Jewish Valentine’s Day

Heyo mates, resident Jewish rad lad here :tipping_hand_woman:t5:
I was scrolling through Facebook and noticed lots of romantic posts and heart shaped pizza so I checked the calendar to inspect my suspicions and I was right (as always)

Anyway

Today is what in Hebrew is called Tu B’Av (ט”ו באב)
Tu B’Av is the 15th Day of Av, which is the fifth month in the Jewish calendar.
Tu B’Av is a minor Jewish holiday. In modern day Jewish culture and mostly in Israel(obviously) it is celebrated as a holiday of love, similar to Valentine’s Day.
And has been said to be a “great day for weddings, commitment ceremonies, renewal of vows, or proposing”. Also, “It is a day for romance, explored through singing, dancing, giving flowers, and studying.” (According to Wikipedia)

the state says love in Hebrew (אהבה / Ahava)

Happy Tu B’Av friends

Spread the love :wink::kissing_heart::white_heart::butterfly:

Interesting holiday,very cute !

Compared to giving flowers, dancing and singing I’m not sure how romantic studying can be :joy: Though I suppose people might have study dates?
