Types of pencils

There are many different types of pencils and artists may need to use a variety to get the effect they’re going for. Here are the different types of pencils:
Graphite pencils: These pencils contain a mixture of clay and graphite, typically encased in wood. They are typically used to draw realistic images and make light guidelines.
Solid graphite pencils: The pencils are solid graphite and don’t have any wood around them.
Liquid graphite pencils: This product is a liquid that gives the effect of a graphite pencil
Charcoal pencils: There are several different types of charcoal pencils, including wooden, paper wrapped, and white charcoal. They’re typically used in photorealistic drawings.
Carbon pencils: These pencils contain a mixture of charcoal and graphite and are best for blending and texture.
Coloured pencils/pencil crayons: These pencils are usually oil or wax-based and come in a wide range of colours.
Grease pencils: This type of pencil is made out of hardened coloured wax and is useful for drawing on hard, glossy surfaces.
Watercolour pencils: These pencils can be applied “dry”, in which they give an effect similar to that of a coloured pencil, or they can be applied “wet” which is when they resemble watercolour paints
Mechanical pencils: These pencils have a metal or plastic frame, similar to that of a ballpoint pen. They use replaceable graphite cartridges and allow you to use thinner cartridges in order to get thinner lines.

@/Artists - How many of these types of pencil have you used? Do you know of any that weren’t mentioned?
