Black Panther is overrated and not the best movie. I mean, it’s great, just not the best. The plot was a little messy and T’Challa wasn’t exactly the best character. Shuri is great. I honestly don’t think it lives up to the hype ( just don’t believe the hype ||-// ). People say it’s the greatest Marvel movie ever made, its way better than all the Avengers movies combined, etc. It’s a good movie, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not the best. Clearly it’s not on End Game or Avengers 2012 level, but it’s pretty average. Maybe a little above average.
TL;DR: Black Panther isn’t the best and I’m a racist ;-;

That’s true, hitting high notes is cool and everything but only when it fits in the song otherwise you’re right it sounds like screeching.
I hear people say “oh my goodness did you hear that high note”

Also I can’t disagree more on the typical issues. T’challa is reserved and stoic but not a bad character. He’s very consistent and his characterisation is extremely strong. Just because you don’t like him doesn’t make him a bad character.
The story also isn’t bad. Having predictable elements doesn’t make a story bad, otherwise endgame would be the worst film of all time. It has some very predictable moments.

I’m sick of people, even fans, of franchises and series just picking out weird things to criticise. Like, if you want to criticise black Panther there is plenty to be upset about. The effects work, choreography and cinematography during the final battle is bad bordering on awful at times.

I didn’t have a problem with T’Challa. But he was better in action in Civil War then in Black Panther. And I found him slightly more interesting in it too than his own movie. I just got bored the second time I watched Black Panther. Not really engaging.

Yeah he had more to do in Civil War, and he was a lot more proactive. Black Panther is a more introspective film in a lot of ways. It’s not among the best MCU films, not by a longshot but T’challa’s character isn’t one of the problems

I feel like people are over-critical of Black Panther because of the quality coming out of Marvel at the moment. We say it’s overrated, but I feel like we have to remember the significance it has for a lot of people.
It’s a great Marvel film (not the best) with an almost all-black cast. That’s the first time something like that’s happened, so it’s bound to make history books as one of the best films of its time. That’s nothing to do with the plot or the characters (that are great but not the best thing Marvel has ever made). It’s to do with what Black Panther means for equality.
I feel like people say “Black Panther is overrated” because we’re so spoilt for good films when it comes to Marvel nowadays. Compare it to pre-MCU Marvel films? DC films? What about Iron Man 3? It looks perfect from that standpoint. We’re kinda just debating tiny percentages of quality when we try to rate most MCU films.

Yeah that’s the problem. The very worst of the MCU (The Incredible Hulk) is still watchable, even good at points. Incredible Hulk has amazing acting and a couple of really good action scenes. They also did Abomination perfectly (This is an unpopular opinion honestly xD)
But then you get the Infinity Wars that are landmark cinematic milestones or the Winter Soldier which is the best film ever made. That level shouldn’t set the standard, because those are the very best. Black Panther, similarly, only falls short in a few areas. You’re debating this scene by scene at this point because they’re all so damn good now

Not trying to be mean but I have always thought Marvel was always diverse in their universe. Maybe not in movies though. But the people complaining about the movies not being diverse are probably the same ones that barely know anything about Marvels universe and minority characters and probably never even held or bought one of the comics for them.
