Every once in a while, we as readers completely lose interest in a story and there’s usually a reason as to why. What causes you to lose interest in an Episode story?
Bad grammar and author intros.
Bad grammar (by that I mean atrocious, if you’re not a native English speaker, that’s understandable. But if you are…) Too many cliches, a ridiculous amount of spelling errors, author intros, terrible, 1-dimensional characters… poorly written MCs…
All of this!
A-hole characters we’re supposed to like.
Bingo. Don’t forget abrupt transitions.
You might have to censor that.
And when the zooms are too slow, that annoys me a lot-
Like the “pan up body” one?? Hate that. I only use it for character reveals, not constantly.
Yeah, those. Like when they’re introducing the hot bad boy LI and the MC is all idle_awkward_scratch_loop
that shimata annoys me to no end
This criteria only applies to stories I’ve clicked on, not stories I refuse to read:
Stupid towel scenes where the MC sees the LI in a towel and goes crazy imagining what’s under the towel and staring at the droplets of water on his abs.
Misunderstandings that could have been solved by talking to the person, not just hearing or seeing the wrong thing and then running away.
Scenes that are triggering or with a lot of abuse and that don’t contain a skip option.
Descriptive vomit scenes.
Jerk douchebag characters that are supposed to be the love interest. Like, NO. Get him the heck away from me. He ain’t no love interest!
Sorry
When the author appears at the beginning of the story and either:
A- introduces themselves
B- apologizes for the bad quality of the story
C- says “English isn’t my first language so there will be some mistakes”
D- argues with the LI and/or the MC
E- all of the above and more
This is so annoying also when the author puts themselves and their friends into scenes where they make inside jokes and the reader doesn’t understand anything at all
It’s fine!
This is cringy
Understandable but unnecessary
So why’d you publish it then??
Annoying as hell tbh
