I see a lot of people complaining about mean girls, but I like it when there are mean girls that are well-written and aren’t always the stereotypical blonde rich girl that wears pink and is obsessed with the LI. My story has a mean girl that isn’t obsessed with the LI (not even a bit), wears all colors, isn’t blonde, and although her family has a good social status, she isn’t the richest girl in school. Upper middle class, I’d say. Oh, and she’s a mama’s girl, not a daddy’s girl. So, yes, I’m cool with mean girls, but I like to see variety.
I’m okay with high school stories, too, as long as they don’t follow the pattern of new girl falling for the bad boy or Mr. Popular all the time.
