What Genre Do You Find the Hardest to Write?

Romance. I get flustered on the kissing parts, but I’m writing a romance…

Hmm, for me it’s probably comedy cause well, I’m not the funniest person and it’s really hard cause everyone has a different sense of humor so yeah, I don’t think I will ever write a comedy because it seems too challenging :joy:

I just can’t write action stories :sweat_smile: I don’t even understand what the characteristics of action stories are.
I thought I’m bad at writing horror stories, but people say I’m not so it’s probably just because I don’t like horror :joy:
But sometimes I can’t do romance. Normally, romance is all I write, but then I have a day where everything just sounds really weird and I don’t even know why :sweat_smile:

Romance stories maybe :sweat_smile::new_moon::dizzy::black_heart:

The romance stories are very slow moving if nothing else is the main plot of the story! Character development is very hard, and it always seems far too cliché And ridiculous for me to consider it nice, so I always end up re-writing the scenes, and then just deleting them :sweat_smile::new_moon::dizzy::black_heart:

Romance:

The trouble with romance is that I have myself never experienced any romantic or sexual feelings, fictional or not whatsoever. That’s why I end up butchering the whole storyline without making any sense on the complex feelings between two or more people. :woman_facepalming:

Fantasy/Sci-Fi:

This genre requires A LOT of imagination and creativity. From names to places to characters to weapons to everything else, I find this genre the most exhausting one.

I’m finding action harder to write. I have trouble writing big movement things without it sounding cringey. Most of the time when I see certain types of descriptive writing I just cringe. I have no idea why.

Comedy and horror. It’s easy to sneak a few small jokes here and there I’m a romance or mystery. But having to constantly be funny is hard, especially in an online game.

Horror, what do people even find scary these days? Exams? Can’t write a story about that, it just ends up turning into a mystery.

Action, what do I even write about?

Pretty good question.

I wrote a fantasy story that bodes well with mystery, thriller and horror. But since I had to choose one, I stuggled and eventually decided on fantasy (I still doubt it though.) Perhaps the hardest is knowing which category that story can best fall into. To me it can work well with all those categories. Blend in equal proportion that makes it worthwhile to be classified under all those categories and not under one…yes not even under sub category because it’s just too strong for lack of a better word.

I intended it to be a thriller because of the thriller contest but in the end like I said it became a fantasy. Ugh…

I haven’t yet write a romance, comedy and drama so for now that would be the hardest for me. Also the major reason is to make it different from the plethora of stories out there. So that’s the challenging part.
