What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a specialized area of mental health that uses art materials and the creative process to explore emotions, reduce anxiety, increase self-esteem, and resolve other psychological conflicts.

What do you think? Do you know more about it?
It always seemed so interesting to me.

It seems so interesting and I’ve heard lots of good things about it! I’d like to know more about the methods of art therapy but apparently there are a lot of different ones

@Artists Does anyone know more about art therapy?

I think any creative endeavor helps get you out of your own head whenever you need a distraction…crafts, making music videos, photography, etc.

When I was a moody teen, I would make detailed, gorgeous artwork because I would allow myself to remain focused on the piece rather than the drama that happened earlier that day.

It’s not a cure-all. Some people find more focus and peace through yoga (which I do on the rare occasion as well…youtube beginner yoga vids are great).

Agreed. It’s a great way to relax and focus your thoughts on something, and letting creativity of any kind simply flow through you.
