What is the best time length when playing a boardgame?

Most boardgames take quite a bit of time to play them if you play correctly. Like for instance, you can’t play Risk in below an hour. That game takes up to 5-6 hours to actually play it and another hour just to go over the rules and set the board up. I would definitely say it takes more than an hour to actually play a boardgame.

  • Monopoly - 1-3 hours depending on how many people play.
  • Life - 1-4 hours depending on how many play plus how long each player turn is.
  • Clue - 1-4 hours, the only reason I give it a long time is because of how long it takes to go to each person around the board.
  • Battleship - 1-2 hours depending on setting it up going over the instructions then playing the game. Trust me, it depends on strategy where you have to find where your opponent’s ships are.
  • Villains - It takes at least 2 hours to play this game because you have to sabotage the other opponent’s chance before they finish their quests.

Do you have any thoughts on how long it takes to beat a boardgame? Do you have games to add to the list?

However long you want to play, so long as the game is good. (wink)

Very true! Also, depends on how distracted you are during the game from others around you.

15-45 minutes and the most I’ll be able to handle is 1.5 hours

Very Reasonable.

If it’s a game night it could take all night but shorter games are good in case you don’t have that much time :innocent:

I think around 2 hours is around how long I’ll play a game before getting bored of it, usually (really depends on mechanics)

I like to try out different games on game nights, rather than do one super complicated game
