What is the best timing while RPing? (time between sign-ups & start, before/towards a timeskip, etc)

Timing is very important for an rp.
Do a timeskip too long and people will be cut off during conversation a lot and maybe drop out.
Wait too long and people will be bored of needing to fill the time with small talk conversations.

The same can be said about how long it can take before you respond to a post.
Be too fast and you might intimidate the other writer.
Wait too long and they may forget or move to someone else.

For everything that involves time, you need to have some sort of timing, you need to make sure that you feel the tempo of the other player(s).

If you want to do a time skip, read the last 4 posts of each interaction of characters. Are they still in the middle of an interaction or activity, wait a little longer. Has some time passed since the last post and has the length of the posts been smaller, then you know it’s time announce a skip.

This also counts for how long you should take responding. If you get reminded often, then see if you cab post more.

And if you remind people, see how often the other person normally responds. If that’s multiple times per day, then after a week you can send a reminder. If they do it once a week, then a week will be too demanding.

@Rpers
What do you think is the best timing and what do you feel is sometimes the wrong timing?

Writing the SG? Am I in the wrong place?

Uhh maybe if one day/event goes for too long? Like a month or smth-
People will get bored.

Timing is so important, but so difficult to determine what the best thing to do is. Even in the moment it’s difficult to know if its the right timing. Especially when there are points where some want a shorter timeframe, while others still need longer. This can especially be true in the time between timeskips in an RP. Some RPers may be able to quickly move through a conversation, either through a quick rate of replies or simply because it doesn’t take many posts, while others may take longer to post, or have an interaction with a lot going on that takes many more posts to unfold.
