What makes a story good? What are some tropes that you love?

dunno I always like stories with people from different cultures. Or stories with complicated backstories that will slowly be revealed if you get what I mean

When you spend the whole series thinking that the plot is one thing and then in the last book a small thing is revealed but it completely changes the plot

yeah those are good too. But it’s rare to see a good story like that. I haven’t readed many stories that do it the right way so the story still makes sence and it doesn’t seem like the author just wants to put something in the story so it can continue on for a few more extra chapters.

I do it, in a way so that I have been dropping a few hints throughout the series and then bam, it happens 
Memorable, well-written characters, an interesting plot, and good dialogues.
