I notice the title first, if it sound interesting I would pick it up to see what the book is about. I also look for books other people talk about or recommend to me.
I just look around a genre I like and pick out books that have an interesting title or ones that are written by authors I know. I mostly look online at the catalog and pick up books so I don’t have to do this IRL now :)
First the title/cover attracts my attention. Then it’s the description and genre that determines if I do anything further.
The book cover attracts my attention and basically any book that has ‘mystery’ or ‘secret’ in the title attracts me. Those little keywords make me curious to see what’s the book about.
I read the back of the book to see if it interests me. I also look at the genre. I don’t really like fantasy, I usually like more realistic books like realistic fiction.
This^^^
Also if it has a really good summary.
-It should have a nice cover which catches my eyes
-The description should be good
-If it belongs to the Fantasy/Adventure/Horror genre
All of these still apply.
I should also add ‘If a friend/family member has recommended it’.
@Bookworms What makes you pick a book?
The cover and title
When the brain sends a nerval message to my hand, it makes my hand pick a book and that’s what makes me pick a book
jk, the title, cover, genre, synopsis and author’s name usually are the few things that make me pick a book.
Still this. But most important - if it’s in the romance section
