It’s funny, there isn’t really a factual answer to this. It’s all down to what you arbitrarily count the cutoff point for what is and what isn’t a ‘chicken’. See, they came from somewhere, but because of how evolution works, the further back you go, the more and more different these animals looked. And there were different families and split-off genus’ and stuff like that, so it gets pretty compliacted.

Essentially, depending on what you think a chicken is, it could be either. If you think it’s the DNA? Then the chicken came first. If you think it’s certain features like the feet, wings, being flightless, they’re weird raptor motions, the noise they make, then it’s the egg that came first. Because whatever laid that egg may not have had some of those features

I’d say the egg, purely because eggs were about for a lot longer than chickens. Chickens aren’t the only species to use eggs, after all!
