So, I’ve noticed this when I was younger, plus even now when I watch anime. People treat anime like it’s a kids cartoon when in truth, there is more to it. It’s one of the biggest animated shows and movies in the filming industry. Anime covers multiple ages, with some shows being hilarious while others go over a more serious tone. I feel like the reason some people who harp on anime-only say that kind of stuff because they never watch more than one type of anime. They’ve stuck to a genre made for the younger ages then act like that’s the only anime around. Also, some people think it’s childish to watch animated shows because they do not know the difference between cartoons and anime. Another issue could be the way that the older animes were versus the new animes. Back when anime was starting, they used that older design that you see in with big eyes and non-existent mouths per se. This, in turn, was very similar to cartoons because they liked to use big features on their characters as well.
Why is anime treated as childish despite being so famous and diverse? Do you feel the same way? Or Do you like the way anime looks?
I’m lowkey not a fan of anime. I don’t know why, but people here don’t consider it childish because I know adults who watch anime and that’s literally all they talk about. (It’s pretty funny sometimes when they do.)
I think anime is cool I guess and I mostly here people talking about Naruto most of the time but I just don’t feel like it interest me much.
The only anime I used to watch when I was younger was Pokémon since it showed on television.
Depending on the art style, it differs to me. To me, Naruto and Sailor Moon are kind of the iconic animes next to Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z. I have been told that a cartoon anime style show is only an anime of the show originated in Japan. The styles could be similar but it is only officially anime if it was originally Japanese.
Sailor Moon has more of a kiddy style to it while Naruto has more defined facial features in the pictures I have seen. I could be thinking of Dragon Ball Z…
ANYWAY there is a completely different style between Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z (I’m talking about the guy in orange but big spikey black hair. I think he is called Roku…? Someone pls correct me). Those shows are both anime style and they are different. In my brain, depending on the style, one show can be more childish compared to the other. It all depends on the content and the style/cartoon characters. Based on the show, the anime style in it could be childish, or it could be for adults. I think people as a whole just think of anime as soemthing for young kids because they would probably think of Pokémon. So anime so probably stereotyped into making people treat it as childish.
Personally, I say Anime being treated as childish depends on the style and the content in the show.
Someone pls correct my facts I’ve only seen Pokémon and Sailor Moon…and that Cells at Work show. The others are just what the pictures are in my Brian
Hmm I think some people may have the mentality of animated show = childish which just isn’t true, there are plenty of adult cartoons out there which have recently been made more popular, anime has been around for a very long time and it has many genres and it’s aimed at so many different age groups so honestly if anyone really thinks all anime is childish then maybe they shouldn’t watch anime aimed at children
in my opinion, because it’s animated. Like, since it’s animated, for some people it’s cartoons, cartoons are mostly known for being kids friendly… cough cough even tho there’s some cartoons that aren’t-
