Would you rather read the book or watch the film adaptation?

Hi guys!

So, as the title says would you rather read the book or watch the film adaptation?
Personally, I think it depends on the type of book and film, I usually watch the film adaptation first which I don’t recommend but I think reading the book first makes it easier to understand. :joy:

So, what are your thoughts?

Depends.

It doesn’t actually make a difference to me which one I start with. I tend to end up reading the book afterward if I enjoyed the film because I usually tend to enjoy the book more. I will try and read the book first though like I did with perks of being a wallflower!

But I do love watching films so it just depends

I really rather read the book, but I find film adaptions fun as well. Film adaptions intentionally miss out, add or alter some details from the book version, so it’s not really accurate. However, I will prefer film adaptions above book when it comes to action, because why not? When it comes to fantasy and adventure, that depends, but I don’t have a preference.

I hate fantasy so…

Both… I like reading the book first and then watching the film so I can get a good idea of what the characters look like and see a lot of the scenes in action. I’m a very visual person, so sometimes book descriptions don’t satisfy me.

I usually read the book first because the books tend to be better than the movies, but if I watch a movie and like it and find out afterwards that it was based off of a book, then I’ll read it.

If it’s as good as The Outsiders, both

The books usually have more detail so probably the book first.

I have no idea… I usually watch the film first and then read the book. I guess that gives me a better idea of what’s happening.

I feel like if I read the book first then watch the film, it’ll contradict my imagination of the story. So for me, it’s either film then book or no film at all
