I know it’s already august, but apparently the last time we had one of these threads was for 2022, so I figure its time we had a new thread for our more current writing goals!
So, we might be over halfway through the year, but what are everyone’s writing goals for the rest of this year? Has anyone had much luck with making progress towards their goals yet?
I honestly don’t know how far I’m realistically going to get, but ideally I’d like to get at least halfway through the first draft of the book I’m trying to write, and at least a quarter of the fanfic I’m writing done.
I kept fantasizing about a hundred stories a year, I’m surprised I went so far as to actually plan every single event in this one story, the second story isn’t as convoluted but it comes from a 8+ yo fantasy that gets some additions every so often where I though “I’ve added so much to this bloody story that this fantastic bit is just a late addition, beter develop it as its own thing”
I think I want to try starting a fanfic this year! I keep making notes on stuff I want to explore outside of canon, I’m just so fussy about wanting to replay or rewatch or reread whatever it is I want to write about before I start
Also considering trying my hand at fan essays/analysis. The goals are so low, but I just want to start something that is in its ‘actual prose’ as opposed to stray notes before the end of the year
Its a Harry Potter fanfic (half based on the books, half based on the movies)
I’m using it sort of as a writing practice separate from the novel I’m trying to write
While I didn’t complete a story, I started a new one and joined a contest, like I said. Also improved on a lot of aspects of my writing and I’ve been working on myself too. Old Choco vs new Kiki are two WILDLY different people.
