He soon discovered the sound was coming from behind his back and he turned to see a delightful sight. Hesiod was always fond of sirens, even though he knew how dangerous and rare they are, he still desired to see them. Somehow his whole life he felt a connection to them, maybe becuase of the stories that say their songs were enticing and bewitching and his own powers included songs and music. He believed he could learn a lot from them about himself and his own powers and he always wanted to see them, but they are rare creatures and he never had the chance to.
When he saw the fish tail and deep in the water, away from the surface in an attempt, be it conscious or not, to hide the tail, Hesiod believed it was either a Siren or a Mermaid he that approached him. However, once the fish hybrid continued singing the song Hesiod dropped down to his knees to sing with him.
“If I could…” is the only lyric he could get out before the Siren’s eyes got wide and he stopped singing.
Hesiod chuckled and decided this was a siren not a mermaid, mostly because he wanted it to be a Siren since it’s most Greek. He took a quick glance at his back to see if there were any wings or marks of wings there, but he couldn’t notice anything since that part of the body wasn’t visible in that position.
The Siren so adorably tried to hide his form and tried to reason a mere human being in such deep waters. He also lured Hesiod lower, making him want to kiss him and that is how Hesiod decided this isn’t just a mermaid, but a siren. If Hesiod gives in to the kiss he’d likely be lured down to his doom, so he had to resist it and counteract the luring song with one of his own.
Instead Hesiod chuckled and said “You do not fool me, Siren boy.” He carefully backed away enough to not be further lured or to not be close enough to be grabbed by the Siren and taken down before he has a chance to explain himself. “If you knew who I were, you’d see we are simmilar. I also have songs that could lure people to their doom. I am your greatest fanatic, so please don’t try to eat me.”

Caspian had caught the man’s attention in his carelessness, yet it ended up a pleasant surprise as he dropped to his knees and continued to sing. His laugh made Caspian feel at ease, his lips splitting into a grin. He didn’t seem alarmed at all, he was likely familiar with the supernatural world.

“Nooo, you caught me. I wonder what gave it away?” Caspian chuckled, poking fun at his own carelessness. He raised a brow at the siren comment, smirking as he looked directly into the man’s eyes. As he backed away on the boat, Caspian swam closer and put a hand on the edge. “Hey, come on, don’t look so scared. Were you that charmed by my singing voice, that you thought I was trying to lure you?” he teased.

This stranger was truly interesting. Firstly, he was sailing on his own in the middle of the sea without a fear. Caspian couldn’t help but wonder what led him to do something so unusual. He had so many questions swarming in his mind, such as who or what this person was, to be so unfazed by the depths of the water and the sight of a merman standing right in front of his eyes? The way he spoke to Caspian gave off little hints, but he never revealed anything explicitly. Almost as if he were hiding a secret. He told him they were similar, that he also had songs to lure people to their doom. Could it be, that the man was a siren himself seeking to find his kind? Though calling himself a fanatic and asking not to be eaten sounded off, he was likely using that to hide the true nature of his words.

Intrigued, Caspian chuckled to himself. “I’m a bit offended. Do I look like the type to lure people to their doom?” he asked, amused at his comment. He put some weight on the boat with his arm, swaying it off balance. He refused to break eye contact as he watched the man’s reaction, as if playing with him. “I see exactly what’s going on here. I should’ve suspected something was up when you were singing out here in the middle of the sea,” he continued, before easing off the boat. “Were you alarmed your charm didn’t work on me, siren boy? Is that how you came to the conclusion that I’m one of your own?”

What Ezra did could not have been considered a laugh, it was less of a laugh and more serious, more deranged and lacking humor. “A free day?” He questioned, because it was entirely a foreign concept to him. Sure, he did have his own set of free days as it would not be good to strain the muscles all the time, but that was because he trains intensely, and sure his sister sometimes trained intensely when he was there one training her, but lately he had taken it quite easy on her, allowing her to train herself the entire of this week, “You do not seem that exhausted to be having free days, do you wish not just to lose but to be dead?” He questioned, arching a brow, referring to what was bound to happen- if she trained well, even if she lost, she will still have her life as she could injure the opponent, stopping them in their tracks from getting drunk on violence. “I don’t want you dead,” He told his sister, in a monotone voice. It was strange, truly, to be having this conversation where anyone could hear, where to anyone but them it would sound strange, it would sound terrifying and it was indeed terrifying when one thinks about what is to come. “You’re young but you’re not getting any younger, train tomorrow,” He reminds her, staring at the empty halls and not at his sister, he turns to his sister, a sinister little smile playing on his face. “Mother does not give breaks, you know that, but I took a break for myself.” Because indeed, he had taken the break, telling his mother that he wished to nap for longer, disappointment had etched on her face but he could also tell that there was pride there- pride that he was not a lapdog, that he could take what he wanted when time comes, he was her first son after all.

Ezra’s eyes widened at Navya’s mention of planning a party, his expression turning stern and disapproving. The air around him seemed to grow heavy with tension as he listened to her proposal, his mind racing with thoughts of the potential dangers such an event could bring.

“Navya, absolutely not,” he said sharply, his voice cutting through the silence of the empty halls. “You know better than to engage in such reckless behavior. This, is not why mother made us come here. Parties are a breeding ground for trouble, and I won’t have you putting yourself or our family at risk.”

His tone brooked no argument, his gaze piercing as he locked eyes with his sister. "You’re too smart to get caught up in all of that nonsense. Focus on your training, on your studies. That’s what’s truly important. Stop behaving childishly, "

Despite his harsh words, there was an underlying concern in his voice, a deep-rooted desire to protect Navya from the perils of the outside world. He may have been strict, even overbearing at times, but it was only because he cared for her well-being above all else. “be smart about what you do,”

“For an exaggerate, I might need a kiss.” His dark crimson eyes flashed with a mixture of amusement and impulse, Declan felt the magnetic pull as his eyes closed…“Relax,” She told him, “I merely jest.

Declan raised an eyebrow in amusement at the girl’s playful antics, a small smirk playing on his lips. He watched as she leaned casually against the wall, exuding an aura of darkness that was both alluring and dangerous.

Back in town, back in this form, Declan replied with a nonchalant shrug, taking a drag from his cigarette. The smoke swirled around him, adding to the relaxed allure that surrounded him. He knew that his crimson eyes and shadowy presence often left a lasting impression on those he encountered. He guessed not her though.

So I take you’ve seen hellhounds before? he asked, his voice tinged with a hint of mischief. He’d find it interesting, in any case, how she knew of the demonic dogs. “But I have a feeling you’re not easily forgotten yourself.” He noted aloud. As he watched her blow out another cloud of smoke, Declan couldn’t help but appreciate the dark and devilish energy that emanated from her. There was a thrill in the air, a shared understanding of the darker forces at play. And for Declan, that was all part of the fun.

The siren said “Nooo, you caught me. I wonder what gave it away?” Hesiod raised an eyebrow at him. He said that as if he didn’t just try to convince him he was drowning when caught. Is he such a scaredy cat? He’s a siren, if I were human and he didn’t want me to remember he was a siren, he could’ve just eaten me. He still could eat me, but I can counter act his song.
"Were you that charmed by my singing voice, that you thought I was trying to lure you?” said the siren, and Hesiod got confused. He looked at his tail and got even more confused. “Well you have the tail of a creature described as having a singing voice that lures sailor to their death. Are you telling me your tails is fake? An illusion? Oh my god is this an illusion, are you an illusionist witch or a Loki demigod or something?”
When the siren said “I’m a bit offended. Do I look like the type to lure people to their doom?” To which Hesiod responded with a resounding “YES!” and then he continued normally “My parents always repeated that Shakespeare quote ‘Fair is foul and foul is fair’. When you want to lead somebody to their doom you dangle something beautiful in front of them. Can’t lure people somewhere withoth having something desireable to lure them. I always assumed voices were enough but obviously … You’re not scary or anything so I assume you use your looks to lure as well.”.
When the siren suggested that Hesiod was the siren and not him, Hesiod was again confused at what this siren was playing at. It is already revealed he is a siren, he has fish everything but the torso and head, who is he trying to fool? Why is he trying to deflect to him. Hesiod rolled his eyes. “Oh sure. The one with the legs is the siren. I’m not a siren, but if you’re really so pathetic to think that stupid idea could work, I’ll prove I’m not a siren.”

Navya raised a brow, her lips curving in amusement as she heard Ezra’s hollow laugh. She began to laugh along with him, unfazed by his reaction. “Yes, a free day,” she repeated, rolling her eyes. “Taking a day off to rest and focus on more important matters won’t get me killed,” she reassured, attempting to convince her brother that it wasn’t as big of a deal as he made it out to be. Though she wasn’t exactly convincing herself with her empty promises. Her smile faltered for a moment, which she quickly corrected with a chuckle. “I’ll die, seriously? You’re being so dramatic. I won’t die so easily. Don’t you believe in your little sister?” she teased, pouting playfully.

It was partially true, at least, she knew it wouldn’t end in death if she dares to fail. But the real consequence was far greater, and it was looming over her head each day. It weighed on her chest, her mind, as if it was a chain she couldn’t break out of. To be killed in that battle would be the easy way out. Because the true punishment, to Navya, would be to let her family down and prove herself to be less than their expectations. She couldn’t hold back, there was no time to waste, and she knew that. “Look, whatever, if it makes you feel any better, I could even make up for it by training tonight,” she added, shrugging.

When Ezra spoke of disobeying their mother and taking a break for himself, Navya couldn’t hold back a laugh at his grin. He looked so proud of himself. She imagined their mother’s face shrouded in a shadow of disappointment, just the thought sending a chill down her spine. But when it came to her siblings, there was a little fun in watching them let their mother down, knowing she wasn’t in their place. “I’m surprised she was merciful enough to let you go.”

And then came the answer to her question about a party. As soon as Ezra widened his eyes, Navya felt a smirk playing at her lips. But she held back, staying silent in amusement as she waited to see his full reaction. There was a short pause, cut by his sharp voice. And that’s when it began, a stern lecture coming from Ezra, his words resembling their mother’s so closely. In reality what he said wouldn’t change the outcome. He likely knew it, and yet he insisted on lecturing her. Navya looked down at her nails as she listened, waiting until he was finished so she could give the answer she’d already decided on.

She glanced up as he ended it with a warning, giving him a look of are you done yet? In order to ease the tension, she softened her smile and sighed. “You worry too much, mom. It’s just the first day. If there’s any better time for a party, it’s now,” she replied, not even flinching at his cold gaze piercing through her. “What risk is gonna come out of a college party? If anything, it’d be free entertainment. A group of different supernaturals with free access to alcohol, as much as they can drink.” She leaned in, chuckling. “I wonder what would happen!”

Taking a step back, she crossed her arms. “Anyway, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to my safety,” she added in reassurance. “I’ll mainly be watching the chaos. I know better than to start conflict I can’t handle, especially with those angels,” she rolled her eyes. “And you’re free to come watch with me. You need to relax for once.”

He closed his eyes, anticipating the kiss, his lips gently puckering. Sylvia leaned in, mirroring his action, her eyes closing in anticipation. But just as their lips were about to meet, she abruptly pulled back, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “Relax,” she teased, her voice laced with amusement. “I’m just playing with you.” With a playful wink, she caused the demonic dog to arch an eyebrow in amused surprise.

She chuckled, as she placed the cigarette back between her lips, taking a long drag before exhaling a plume of smoke. She tossed the pack of cigarettes into the demonic dog’s lap, the pack landing with a thud. “Pretty strong thighs huh?” she teased, as she looked away for a second before asking if he was new here, new to to this town and he gave a cryptic response. Sylvia let out a laugh, shaking her head. “Well, that’s very cryptic of you,” she remarked, amusement dancing in her eyes. “Really are a hellhound huh?” She said, recalling that numerous of hellhounds she had seen before were always so cryptic with their response, so angsty, and brooding and always quite fun to tease. “But I’m guessing that means you’re new, if I’m guessing right a freshman throwing to grow into his big boys pants, huh?” She questioned, arching a brow as she took another puff.

She sat down on the ground, feeling the dirt against behind her legs, dirt that at times sh would wish it would swallow her hole and take her to hell or heaven if vampires got to go to heaven, but on a more serious note, Sylvia was definitely going to hell for a lot of other reasons than being a vampire, and for some reason that made her chuckle. “Seen them?” She chuckled, “I’ve fcked a couple” She corrected, “All as angsty as the next, as moody but as fun. They are like werewolves without the smell or vibrant personality,” Sylvia had never been fond of the smell of werewolves nor their personality much. She stood up, dusting the dust from her clothes as she turned to him, dropping her cigarette on the ground and crushing it, “I was supposed to quit,” she muttered, “but I don’t feel like quitting.” She smiled at him. He had spoken, telling her that he had a feeling she was not easily forgotten herself, and she smiled, “I have a pretty face,” She shrugged, “People love them a pretty face. Sylvia Cortes” she introduces, “You?”

Caspian couldn’t help another chuckle, hearing how he listed every possibility aside from the obvious one. “Almost there. Come on, buddy, think. What else is half human, half fish?” he asked, pausing for a second before answering his own question. “Is it that hard to believe I’m a merman? You know we’re not just women, right?”

When Caspian asked whether he looked like he could lure people to their death, the man answered without missing a beat. Caspian’s eyes widened, taken aback by how assured he seemed. His smug smile faltered, his grip tightening around the edge of the boat as he listened to the stranger explain.

But it wasn’t long until he reached yet another far fetched conclusion.

“Hang on, what?” Caspian’s lips split into a grin, and a second after he burst out laughing. The tension seemed to fade from the air, as he pushed aside the worries that took over for a moment. “What!?” he repeated in disbelief, struggling to speak over his laughter. “I’m sorry, I… I can’t,” he paused, taking a deep breath. “Dude. Buddy. Pal. Please stop and listen to your own words for a second. You’re saying I’m trying to lure you because you’re attracted to me?” he asked, chuckling lightly. “I am not trying to lure you! If I were, you’d be in the water by now.” But despite his joking tone, he was relieved to know he wasn’t scaring the man.

“Sirens can have legs, too. You never know. You seem awfully familiar with illusions as well, I wonder why?” he smirked, leaning in closer again. “I know you’re the siren here. You can’t fool me either!” Though his tone sounded assured, Caspian was only half serious about his accusation. This interaction had proven to be more entertaining than he initially thought. “Come over here and prove it. Get in the water with me, I don’t bite.”

"I’ll die, seriously? You’re being so dramatic. I won’t die so easily. Don’t you believe in your little sister?” Navya had teased, pouting playfully.

His lips were sealed, and his eyes gazed at her deeply. No words came from his mouth for a while, his face completely unreadable. Ezra did not know how Navya would take it, how she would interpret his silence, and truthfully to be told, Ezra did not know how to interpret his own silence, but he knew it was quite uncomfortable.

Usually, Ezra was fond of silence, and he did not dislike this silence no matter how uncomfortable it sounded, and he knew that Navya was bound to break it soon- she always did, That girl is a talker, born without a zip in her mouth, his mother had once said to describe Navya, when she had heard her complaining about one of the training. At that time, Navya was still new to the family, she did not understand how they operated or why they operated the way they did, so Ezra had tried not to be too harsh on her, for after all she was bind to him and she was his younger sister.

“Everything is a game to you,” Ezra muttered with a sigh, breaking the silence. “Just, make sure to make your statement a reality.” Ezra had said, instead of ‘be careful, don’t die’ or a ‘it’s not a matter of believing or not believing, it’s a matter of safety’ as after all, Ezra was quite cynical, the son of military woman, and after the incident, whatever trace of a non-cynical Ezra had disappeared.

Besides, it was not yet time for sentimental acting and hugs and kisses flying here and there, Navya would live no matter what- she was right about that, she was not going to die so easily because she would not die, well that is, if mother dearest does not get drunk on power and forgets who she is fighting, that was unlikely to happen though and in an event of such a thing, Ezra would jump in and try to prevent it. “Would you actually?” Ezra asked skeptically, as Navya promised to make up for her lack of training tonight, “It’s your free day, you’ve always loved your free days” He told her, “Would you even remember to train? Don’t make empty promises.” He told his sister, shaking his head

The conversation had shifted to Navya speaking about him, about conversations with their mother, and how he’s training went, asking him if he got a break. Ezra had told her no, he did not get a break, he took a break, earning him a disapproval look from his mother who allowed it but did not say much Apparently, that had amused Navya for she began to laugh. “Mother is not tyrannical, she’s just complicated.” Ezra said at Navya’s surprise, “You will be surprise at-” Ezra paused, right, he was not supposed to tell her that, per mother’s request. “You shall be surprised by her.” He rephrased, his words very cryptic.

The conversation was going well enough, that was of course, until Navya had to speak about parties and Ezra’s emotional face became very expressive as his eyes widened and his brows furrowed, very obviously not amused absolutely not he had stated, knowing his words shall enter from one ear and go the other.

Or never,” Ezra said, choosing to ignore the ‘mom’ comment, “We did not come here to party, and drink till our bellies cannot contain anymore, we came here to learn,” He lectured, his eyes turning cold at her. “You really think a group of different supernatural with free access to alcohol, is a good idea?” He asked her, quite shocked at the way she thought.

He thought that as the years passed, he shall get used to his sister’s weird habits, just like he had with Renee, but it seemed that he shall never understand his sister or most people in general. “A fight would happen, perhaps one of them would sneak off to the human world and cause trouble, or perhaps something worst could happen.” Supernaturals and excessive alcohol did not usually mix well and that was why Ezra rarely ever drank alcohol, for he saw alcohol for what it truly was- something poisonous to the mind

“I’m not coming with you, because you are not going anywhere but your dorm room,” Ezra told her, “You can get the relaxation through sleeping.” He offered.
