Ravneet

Ravi blinked, momentarily startled as Beck’s voice pulled her from the fog of emotions swirling in her chest. It had been so long since they’d last seen each other that, for a split second, it almost felt unreal. The warmth of Beck’s hand on her shoulder broke through her daze, anchoring her in the moment.

“Ravi? Oh my God, I’m so sorry - are you okay?” Beck’s voice was gentle but laced with concern as she scanned Ravi’s tear-streaked face and noticed her damp hair.

Ravi took a deep breath, straightening her posture slightly. She wasn’t one to spill her heart easily, but something about Beck’s presence, the familiar comfort, made it hard to keep everything bottled up. “Beck… it’s been a while,” she said softly, her voice carrying a weight she hadn’t fully processed.

Her lips pressed into a tight line before she spoke again. “My marriage… it’s over. It’s been falling apart for months now, and I kept hoping we’d find our way back. But the truth is… he wasn’t there. Not really.” Her voice steadied, though her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. “I’ve been alone for so long, even when he was right there.”

She glanced away for a moment, the enormity of the situation weighing on her shoulders. But then she looked back at Beck, her expression shifting, more vulnerable yet firm. “And it’s not just him, Beck. I’m not innocent in this.” She paused, her jaw tightening briefly before she let the words slip. “Tonight, I kissed someone else.”

There was no regret in her voice, only a quiet resolve. “It wasn’t impulsive or reckless. It felt… right. More right than anything has felt in a long time. Like I could finally breathe again.” She let out a shaky exhale, her hand lifting to brush a stray lock of hair from her face.

“I don’t regret it. Not for a second. But that doesn’t change the fact that I crossed a line. And maybe that’s what scares me the most - that I’m willing to cross lines now. But I’ve been disconnected for so long, Beck, and with him… it felt like something I lost a long time ago.” Her eyes searched Beck’s, not for judgment but for understanding.

“It’s complicated. Messy. But for the first time in forever, I felt like me again.” Ravi let out a deep breath she didn’t realise she’d been holding, signaling that she’s finally allowing herself to feel lighter, more at peace with her emotions. A small, almost nostalgic smile to touched her lips, showing that while the situation is complicated, there was genuine joy in finding herself again, even if just for a fleeting moment.
