Going towards bar | Alone
Dave didn’t want to be the third wheel in a fight with two strangers, so he backed away from Ravi and Ezra. He didn’t know why he even said anything, he could’ve just dissapeared, but being in the situation, he felt nervous and guilty and he wanted to do anything so he wouldn’t have to see pain on Ravi’s face anymore. But what came to his mouth was a wor vomit that was completely the opposite of what he feels, and he had no idea why when he opened his mouth, that was what came out. He knew a milisecond before he said it but when it was already to late to stop talking, that he would regret saying that. He regretted it as soon as he said it and saw their facial expressions.
As he backed away, he felt something close to heartbreak but a much, much milder version. There stood a married woman who awoke somethign in him, a passion that was slowly dissepating since Evie and him ended things, and now he had to leave her to go back to her husband.
As he was leaving he heard her say “He’s wrong” and when he heard that he took his time leaving so he could hear the rest. “That kiss… it wasn’t just fear or relief. It was real, Ezra. And I don’t know what that means …” Was all that he managed to hear as he was leaving, but he could get the sentiment of the rest of the sentence he didn’t catch. With her words his regret for saying anything in the first place doubled.
When he reached the bar he didn’t wait a second to take out his phone to search for Ravi’s name in order to find some contact. He didn’t know what he was doing just that he wanted to have a way of talking to her and he knew he wanted to stay in contact with her. What he didn’t realize was that his phone was completely drenched in water for a very long time. The phone was dripping with water and it was completely shut off. He felt dred wash over him as he realized that Helen or Tommy could’ve tried reaching him while his phone was full of water, and not answering back could make them both angry with him. But then he realized they didn’t respond to him first and him not answering for a legitimate reason once when they didn’t respond several times should make him angry with them.
Just in order to know if he was in trouble, he turned his phone on and hope he could see from the open screen if there was any notification from either a text or a call from either Helen or Tommy.
When the phone opened, it displayed the screen which showed there was no new notifications, and to Dave’s surprise it lasted long enough for him to unlock his phone. When he did that just, out of curiosity, it opened on the text app in the gorup chat where he previously tried to reach Helen and Tommy.
Then the phone crashed, obviously, due to the water damage. He wasn’t able to do anything on that phone, but the screen was on long enough for him to notice something. All of the messages he sent … were left on READ.
He put his phone away, not knowing how to fix it, but leaving it to be fixed. He turned to the bartender and said “If Helen Bannarasee looks for me, tell her my phone got destroyed and that I’ll talk to her in OUR room.” And left for his suite.
TLDR: His phone got destroyed due to water damage but he did manage to see you guys read ALL of his messages and ignored him. His phone was already shut down as Helen tried to call him so he won’t be able to get that phone call, he’s heading to his suite when she calls him (it’s up to you if Helen wants a public shout out, in this case she’ll reach him before he goes to the bedroom, or if she wants this to be private and finds out the info where he is from the bartender and to discuss stuff there … I’m fine with them having a dramatic public argument if you like, and I’m also fine with them keeping their integrity by making this argument be private)
