When Tommy came back and started scolding them Dave felt as if his father came back from his work when he did someting wrong to shout at him. But Dave didn’t hate him, he always saw Tommy as a second father figure in his life so reprimands when he did someting wrong was common. In fact, he likes being told what to do because he’s lost in this part of his life, being the first time where everythign wasn’t handed ot him because he happened to be good at football and having a certain type of body type. He really wanted to leave Helen and not start a fight, but he trusted Tommy like he was his own family member, so when he told them to sort it out in his room, he nodded and changed his mind. “Now, let’s talk this out and get to the bottom of it yeah?” Tommy asked, to which Dave answered back “Yeah.”
It was only when Tommy came over to be the arbitrator and calmed the situation down that Dave realized he didn’t really mean anything he said to Helen and he really didn’t think that post he read was all that bad. He remembered reading it and knowing she spent more time with him becase he was dealing with something else. “Wouldn’t it be better if we did this in our room though?” Dave reffered to a couple’s room that was booked for Helen and Dave in order for people to not question they’re a couple, where they would sleep together, but Dave would take the couch, of course. Tommy’s room was next door, just in case, with an adjoining door. “Maybe people will assume we’re still a couple if we go to our room together and lock the door … and Tommy you can just join us a minute later using the door in your room that comes into ours.” He cringed a bit everytime he said our room, disliking the idea of having to spend the night in the same room as Helen. He doesn’t dislike her, but he hates the idea of acting like he’s with her even when he’s asleep. He doesn’t mind acting he’s in love with her when there’s a camera and a director in the room, but he hates having to do it every second of his free time. Especially when she’s a stranger to him.
They started walking towards the room, getting ready to talk it out. Dave is afraid though, because he believes he doesn’t know how to fight and that he often gets too heated and says something stupid he’ll regret later on.
