Lysander thought he would regret telling her this detail about his father … Not the fact it was his father’s suit originally, but that he was dead. “I’m sorry to hear that.” Lysander dreaded telling people about his parents. He hated when people learned about his family and start pitying him. Thankfully, that was all she said. Lysander sighed with relief, knowing she probably didn’t do it for him, but he wanted to thank her for avoiding the subject. When they got to the changing room they looked over the 3 blue suits that were previously put aside for him. Lysander then modeled all of them as if he were in a movie montage. Those were all nice suits, but none of them went with the color she had. When the worker brought other suits, Lysander tried all of them, being the most sceptical of the one that was more beige than blue. To his surprise, when he walked out of the stall in that outfit, Beck’s pupils widened when she saw it and she cracked a smile. “That one’s perfect!” She exclaimed. Lysander looked at his coat, which was the only thing that was blue, but it was a very very light blue and he wondered if her dress was a simmilar color and that’s why it’s perfect. Beck’s next sentence answered his question. “I know it’s not the same color as my dress but I think it will work.” Lysander wasn’t sure about that, but he doesn’t know what the dress looks like, so he’s probably wrong in his worry. He bought it and bought anotheer black suit, that was more suited for his body type and for the era. He decided to keep his father’s suit, but not wear it anymore.

Lysander prepared for this event with the same effort most girls put in looking good for a date. But then again, he puts a lot of effort into everything he does. In fact he puts the same amount of effort in everything he does, it just happens to be more than most people would put in for things they don’t really care about. He made sure the suit for tonight was freshly pressed, that he was showered and smelling nice and that the hair on his head was neat withouth a sngle straight hair out of place. In the mirror he practiced smiling because he doesn’t smile often, even when he feels like it. He didn’t want to come out cold. Making sure his breath smelled nice and his lips were chapped just in case, he left his apartment and sat in his car ready to drive over to Beck’s residence and pick her up.
He drove past countless of huge, expensive houses to park outside of the one Beck owns. He rang the doorbell.
Beck opened the door a few moments later and the first thing she said was “Lysander, well you look amazing.”. He didn’t know why she felt the need to say that when she already saw him in this outfits a few hours earlier. She wore the afforementioned blue dress, and Lysander finally saw the color she was refferng to. Looking at his own outfit, he could tell how a mix of light blue, beige and white could suit her dress. It looked like a short Indigo blue, satin dress. “Well, it’s not like I wasn’t there when you picked out your suit, but still.” She said. Lysander realized that she complimenting him means he should do the same to her, so that she doesn’t assume his silence means she doesn’t look good tonight. “You look amazing too. I can finally see what you meant when you said it suited well together. That dress is amazing too, simple and short yet somehow has an air of elegance.” He noticed how her neck seemed barren and remembered he brought her something. He put his hands in his inner coat pocket while saying. “It needs something to bring it to perfection.” He pulls out a black rectangle box and opened it to reveal a simple necklace with a single pearl teardrop in the middle. “I thought a boyfriend would buy presents, such as jewellery, for his girlfriend. I thought if you want to rub it in, you could hint or just say in passing how I bought it for you. It might seem more realistic. I thought if you wore something you already owned, people might know it was yours especially if you wore it more than a few times. And I just had this lying around, collecting dust, so I thought it’d look better on you tonight than burried deep with all my things.” He didn’t want to talk about where he got the necklace from, so he just said. “Shall we go?” and offered her his arm to lead her to the car.
