Blindness and eye condition awareness

I have a very specific gait, so it’s easy to pick me out of a crowd. My hair is also dyed red.

I need to get her number. She’s a sweetheart.

What? Are you legally blind?

Hope you don’t mind that I reopened your thread?

No worries! Yeah, I am. I have a cataract too.

Like, legally blind meaning you will never be able to drive/get a license?

Correct.

Oh wow. I didn’t know this about ya. Sorry to hear that.

That’s ok. I’ve heard driving is overrated anyway. :joy:

I like to think so, though I know I should do it at some point.

Hehe. I’m getting cataract surgery on the 23rd, so that’s good. It’s annoying.

That’s exciting. What are chances of your sight improving and by how well?

Not by much, but I’m honestly not bothered. I actually don’t want my sight to improve, because I’ve lived that way for 21 years.

Interesting. I would have figured if it improved it’d be good

Well, yeah, but I’m so used to it being bad, that I don’t know what to do.

Ah, so it’s sort of a fear of change, of the unknown.

That’s exactly it.

I’m technically legally blind as well. I can’t see anything without my glasses except colors and shapes. I can only see about 3-4 inches in front of my face clearly. I can’t get LASIK surgery since it wasn’t available for my eye strength yet. I have to know my surroundings well when I don’t wear my glasses. Otherwise I run into stuff sometimes. I’ve had to have someone help me find my glasses due to them falling under the bed or the end table next to my bed before.
