A new baby - 2028 Alt
Jess grinned, holding the little baby tightly in her hands as Kai wheeled her out of the hospital. He was… adorable. Even Aria couldn’t get enough of him, though, Kai had gotten her a babysitter so that the transition from the hospital all the way home could be easier.
“You know, I still think it’s quite unfair that both our babies got your eyes.” Jess told the man, looking at the bright blue eyes staring back at her. Jess was happy - that much she knew. Though did she ever expect this to happen with Malachi Azure? No. Despite that - the last year with the man had been… something out of a dream. She loved him… though she always did. It only took a few weeks living together for the two to realize they couldn’t just be friends… it was simply, impossible. And now here they were - a new life… a happy life and a new bundle of joy in her hands.

“Kai…do you mind holding him?” Jess asked, smiling at the laughing baby. There was a look on Kai’s face. Since the moment they got out of the hospital, Kai had been avoiding it. Holding the child. Every time she asked him, he simply did the other task she was meaning to do and now, she wasn’t going to let him.
“I should actually go check on Ari…”
“Okay for fcks… mind my language…sake. Kai want’s going on? You’re not going to break the kid you know?”
There was a frown on Kai’s face as he looked at her and after a few seconds, a sigh met his lips.
“Jess… I haven’t… done this before. I’ve held kids before… I just… I’ve never raised… one when they’re… this young…. not really…. not like you raising Aria… I just… what if I mess this up?” Jess looked at him with a slight turn of her head before laughing and walking towards him, baby in tow.
“So you’re not holding him because you don’t want to mess up? Kai, he’s a baby, not a bomb. You can’t mess this up, love.” Jess mumbled lovingly as she put the baby in his hands without waiting for him to say no. “Love, we all mess up. You think everything was a picnic when Aria was a kid? I freaked out… about a lot. If I was holding her right… god… if I was feeding her right. But we’ll figure it out okay? Together. Because we’re kinda stuck in this now, my love, and he’s proof of that,”
Jess watched as the little baby cooed in Kai’s hands and a smile met his lips. Yep… they really were in this together.
