Blue Royalty: New Blood

If you ask Elodie things were still not great. Sure they were all pretending to be one happy family, mostly Elodie in hopes to make herself feel better for what she’d done which is just… Wrong. She was trying to fix everything in her subtle ways but deep down she was still hurting over something she’d done, for the pain she brought into her family. Not much has changed with her kids, not counting Amelia, plus she was starting to bond with little Lexie but there was one person she really owed so much to and that was something that hurt the most. How do you apologize to your husband for leaving so suddenly, leaving him with the kids and one baby? For not speaking to him or anyone for that matter, just disappearing?
That’s a hard question and unfortunately Elodie does not have an answer to that because if she did she would’ve done it the second she came back home. Well, we could say she tried to a few times but she never knew what exactly to say, how to start plus it never seemed like the perfect time for it. It also seemed like Riker was avoiding that conversation for some time and in a way she was grateful for that - it just gives her more time to figure it out, doesn’t it?

In the meantime she was doing things she’d usually do, what she was doing before she kind of ruined her family. Her morning started being nice again - if he was still in bed and not out and about with their kids, Elodie would wake up snuggled against Riker. She’d join them with Lexie or just wait for them to come back, usually from the beach all wet and full of sand, yelling “Don’t walk around the house like that” while their breakfast was on the table. She’d go on walks with the dogs. Listen to all the drama their kids cough Phoebe cough had to share. Cry over her little boy not being so little anymore… not literally but you get it. Cuddle up next to Riker on the couch in front of the tv when the house calmed down, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. And today… Well, today she tried to help her girls get ready for prom. PROM. Wasn’t that exciting? God, she can remember every single detail of her prom, the excitement she felt even if she thought it was going to be a disaster since she didn’t even have a date at first… But of course Jordan came in to save the day, as he always does, and make sure she truly felt happy… And make sure she met his friends… Look where that got her now. One successful day if you ask her.

Did it hurt a little that she wasn’t so successful at helping her girls out? Yeah, it did but who else could she blame but herself? Amie was still not really talking to her and she knew it wouldn’t end well if she tried to hang around with them so eventually she gave up, leaving Phoebe to take care of her sister. A soft smile appeared on her lips as she was just for a moment leaning against the door frame, watching them bonding all over again, hearing their laughter and seeing their excitement. ”Where are you going?“ Elodies attention shifted to someone walking past her, only to see her son all dolled up, ready to leave the house. ”Your dad figured out a way to sneak you in?“ Wrapping her arm around Xander’s shoulder as she joined him to walk down the stairs all she got from him were mumbles and nos, making her laugh. ”What are you up to then?“ Followed by more nos and now nothings, escaping her grasp and disappearing to another room before she could ask him anything else. Her big smile did not leave her lips as she turned her attention to Riker mouthing this kid, omg to him. She spotted him the moment they started walking down, just standing there and watching them, waiting for the night to begin in his own suit. Yeah… She’ll not make any comments on that, on him just HAVIIING to go to the prom to annoy his kids… She realized a long time ago there’s nothing she could do about his silly ideas and truth be told she didn’t want to. Wasn’t that why she was always so attracted to him? She would never change that about him.

Now that she was left standing alone in front of him did she allow herself to enjoy the view… and think about everything she regrets. It usually happened like that, when she felt like they were really alone and would not be distracted. But once again this was not the time for… For being sad. Yes, her smile did falter for a second but it was back on as soon as she walked over to him, resting her hands on his chest and then moving them up to fix his shirt. ”Look at you,“ she whispered, meeting his eyes. ”I don’t think I can let you walk away like that.“ With that she gently kissed him, her hands now cupping his cheeks and letting her forehead rest against his after, keeping her eyes closed before they could both hear Lexie crying. ”I’ll go get her.“

What did she do while everyone was gone? Not much to be honest, what could she really do? Entertaining Lexie before it was her time to sleep and then taking some time for herself before she went to bed since it was ridiculous to wait for anyone else to come back home was her only option. Xander was in that stage when he didn’t really want to hang around with his parents, Amie and Phoebe were at prom and God knows when they’ll be back… Same goes for her husband. Knowing he was there with Andy and Dorian she wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back after their girls. What a strange day… Grabbing a glass of wine, Elo sat down on the couch in front of the tv and searched for the dumbest reality tv show to keep herself entertained. Buy she wasn’t comfy there for a while because she heard the door opening quickly after she sat down, confusion written all over her face as she waited for the person to appear in front of her. It was… Early, and it was probably just Xander because who else could it be?

No… She was wrong. Riker was now standing in front of her and as soon as she saw him a smile appeared on her lips that said I’m both happy and confused that you’re here now… All before he spoke up and she saw his tears. Immediately she started panicking but she tried to keep calm as she put the glass down and slowly stood up. ”Riker… I-“ I what? What was she supposed to say? She’s been thinking about this moment every single day and yet… She still didn’t know how she would take it. How she would deal with it and… Did he really want to do this now? Was it really happening? And was she wrong to hope that maybe it would pass and she’ll just be forgiven, she wouldn’t have to reopen the wounds? ”I didn’t mean anything I said,“ she slowly started, carefully walking over to him with the biggest frown on her face. Would touching him now make things worse? Would he just push her away? Is it bad that she doesn’t really remember what she said because that just wasn’t her? ”I… Don’t-“ reaching him and referring to him crying, she let her hands find his face, now feeling her own eyes filling up with tears. ”I didn’t meant to… I… I’m sorry. I didn’t leave you, I would never leave you. I didn’t know what to do, it’s just… Come sit down, please?“ Grabbing his hand she gently tugged him towards the couch, desperation clear in her voice.

When she returned to the table, she noticed that a couple of Fins buttons were now unbuttoned. Trailing her eyes down, she had a little curiosity as to what was underneath the rest of his dress shirt. Stop it Halston, get over it. He’s hot. That’s not your job here. ”I can finish it before you, I know that and I’m sure you know that so it’s not fair, is it now?,” he smirked, raising his glass to his lips. Of course she knew that he would win, drinking was his thing. What she would beat him in though, is not getting drunk. Within seconds, he had already finished his drink without giving her the chance to compete with him. Well that wasn’t fair. “Guess you win” she smiled slightly, tipping her head back to finish the last of her “drink.”

Hal was never one to not finish on her bets. Before she could have the attempt to say anything else, the sound of smashing glass rang in her ears. Yeah, he was drunk. That didn’t take too long, she thought to herself. Though maybe he had already been drinking at the prom before they arrived here. Never trust a ‘f!ck boy.’ She snickered, watching him glance from her, to the bar and then back down at the ground. His leg reached out to the shards of glass on the ground, and using the side of his foot, kicked it underneath the foot of the table. ”Smooth Finny,” She laughed a little, seeing him collect himself as much as he could and look back up at her. Her lips pushed together in an attempt to stop her from laughing probably made her look like an idiot right now. Yet, he was still smiling. Ohhhh pretty boy…

Hal moved from her side of the table towards Fin, smiling lightly. “A little taste… of what you’ve wanted all night…” She reached a hand out to his shoulder, the other landing on his jawline, standing on her tippy toes and pressed her lips against his. It may have been more than an innocent kiss. Maybe a little makeout. Tongues involved. He tasted like liquor, different kinds, the flavors mixing together between their mouths. He was probably too drunk, and well… h0rny to notice that her breath most certainly did not smell like alcohol. The hand that was once on his shoulder began to move down slowly. First onto his chest, then gradually making its way lower with her fingers feeling around. It finally met its resting place, a place that would get him a little too excited. Oh Fin, you don’t know what’s to come. A little scandalous for Hal to be making out with someone in the middle of a club, this is probably something she would never do normally. Normally. She let it go on for a little longer, letting herself drown in the kiss for just a few more moments. She pulled her head back. ”How’s that for a taste?”, she whispered under her shaky breath. God he was a good kisser.

Kaspian always felt a slight unease at being in this house. Honestly, there was a reason he mostly avoided it… okay fine, recently he had been using it more and more but it was just easier coming back to one place instead of house-sitting for different people who asked… far too many questions about his other hobbies. That being said, yes, he had taken the time out of his busy day to buy groceries and… well… make himself at home. Though… technically it wasn’t his home. It was his family’s… one that he had cut off for a reason.

Flashback

Exhaustion filled Kaspian’s body as he got out of his car - standing in front of a place he… never wanted to fcking be at. Another fcking mansion situated in between other mansions. A scoff met his lips when he thought about the people who likely lived in this neighborhood - privileged was likely the only word for it. Then again, could Kaspian judge if he had been privileged and shielded most of his life?

Fck it, he didn’t have time to think about this. What Kaspian needed was sleep and a shower. Walking towards the front door, Kaspian pulled out his tool kit - clicking it into place as he maneuvered the gears of the lock until it… finally clicked in place. Opening the door, a sigh left his lips seeing the security system that required a code. Though, knowing his family - it was usually the same thing. A little measure for traveling… family. Watching as the system turned off with the correct code, Kaspian walked inside - plopping on the couch as the exhaustion fully filled his body. After all, driving for 3 days straight would do that to a person… especially when that person only had enough money for gas and maybe a few snacks here and there. Fck, Kaspian really needed to make some fast money quick. Though, there was a reason for this… drive… and the risk.

What risk? Well… the answer to that was shown when the silence in the empty home was cut by an unknown call reaching his phone. For a second, Kaspian hoped that ignoring it would mean anything… but seeing the phone ring for a second time… and then a third time meant it wouldn’t. With a sigh, Kaspian picked it up - a frown meeting his lips when he heard the voice on the other end.

“Come home.”

“Fck off.”

“What do you think this is proving Kaspian? The only thing you’re doing is hurting your family’s name. Go home. Your parents are waiting.”

“Parents? What a fcking joke.”

“… she didn’t mean to hurt you Kaspian. We thought it was best.”

“Thought it was best? To lie to me since I was fcking born? Yeah, I don’t think so. Leave me alone.”

"It’s been a year Kaspian. I know you’re not doing well. I’ve kept my distance, but this is getting out of hand. You barely have enough to survive on your own. I dealt with the issues in New York, but you running every time you get into trouble isn’t helping your situation. "

“It would have been easier if you just told me who he was. Or, you know - not fcking chase me down every time I get settled in. You think I don’t know it was you that tipped off the cops in the first place?”

“Kaspian…”

“Leave me the fck alone”

“I know you’re in Beryl”

“And that’s supposed to mean something?”

“Just because your mom is letting you have your fun running around the fcking world making a mess of things doesn’t mean we’re going to keep letting it happen. You have 6 months. Then, we’re dragging you back whether you want to or not. So enjoy the house, figure out what you need to figure out, and then get ready to do your duties as a Gar…”

“Don’t call me that, grandfather and good luck trying”

Walking inside the empty foyer, Kaspian felt… well… at least a little less lonely seeing… that he wasn’t… exactly alone this time. And, Katherine did have an intriguing way of drawing all the attention to her. She was… a good distraction. Behind the kitchen counter, Kaspian was adding ice to the blender with some milk - awaiting her response on what kind of ice cream she wanted… and yes, Kaspian did keep his freezer stocked. What? He had a sweet tooth and it wasn’t exactly like his family let him have any sweets.

“Ben and Jerry’s? Are those people?” he questioned looking at her with a blank expression, before opening his freezer and pulling out some plain old Neopolitan ice cream. What? Sure he likes sweets - that doesn’t mean he’s had experience trying everything. “But I can do vanilla and caramel” Kaspian continued taking a few scoops of the vanilla ice cream out and placing it in the blender alongside some caramel drizzle he had bought after seeing it at the grocery store and finding it… well… intriguing. Would it surprise anyone that Kaspian had never been to the grocery store before a few months ago?

Let’s just say it was… an interesting experience. “Mr. Scary Stranger? Really? Okay Katherine, what do you want to know so that I can make myself less of a scary stranger?

Without letting her answer however, Kaspian mixed the blend before putting it into a cup and plopping a straw in her cup, and handing it to her. With that, he put the blender in the sink and walked towards the couch watching her with a raised expression. “Go ahead, ask me anything. I can’t promise I"ll tell you the truth, but I’ll do my best.”

A soft smile met Riker’s sleepy lips as he pulled his wife closer to his body, kissing her forehead. His eyes had yet to open, but he already knew she looked… stunning. She always did - and it didn’t matter where they were, Elodie could always take his breath his way. Damn, he loved his wife. “Rikerrr we have to get up” “Says who?,” Riker asked, wrapping his legs around her as well so he had essentially bear hugged her making it impossible for her to escape.

“Rikeeeer”

“Elooooo”

“Riker, get off of me.”

There was something off about her voice, and Riker could feel instant chills down his spine. Opening his eyes for the first time since he woke up, he watched as his wife pushed him away. She didn’t hesitate before standing up and walking towards the closet - saying no other words. “Elo, I’m sorry. I was just joking around I didn’t…”

He didn’t have a chance to finish his words, because as she came out, he found her clutching a suitcase.

Just… stop. I want to go, leave me alone. I need a little break, okay? Just… I… I can’t do this anymore. This. Everything. I… can’t. Twenty years… I can’t be in this house right now. We… you, you’re the only person I ever slept with. Jesus… I have to go.

“Elo…elo don’t…why are you…don’t do this again.” In an instant, Riker was up - trying to run after her but he couldn’t. He found himself frozen in place, unable to move screaming for her over, and over, and over again.

A gasp left Riker’s lips as the crying of his little daughter hit his ears. He had moved Lexie’s crib into his room… was it for her or for him… honestly he didn’t know at this point. Elo had left a week ago… one week that he hadn’t been able to contact her. One week since that Riker’s life fell apart. Every night since had been the same - Elodie saying those words no matter where they were. In bed… at the park… at the beach with their kids… it always ended the same. At this point, Riker had her last words memorized… and analyzed. After all… what else did he have to do when his daughters were on vacation and Xander was at a summer camp?

Taking another deep breath, Riker reached over to his daughter, pulling her up and into his arms - kissing her forehead. It was clear over the last week that Lexie missed her mom. The excessive crying was a telltale sign. Every day was the same - whenever she got hungry, she’d have a tantrum which was okay… look… she’s a baby… the issue was that Lexie she wasn’t drinking her formula. It would only be after hours of her crying that she would finally give in and drink - likely the hunger taking over.

“Hiiiii lil mermaid, please stop crying,” Riker whispered, holding his baby girl in his arms “I know you miss your mom… I do too…,” he sighed, bringing his daughter to the kitchen where he warmed her formula up. With the warm milk, he held the bottle towards his daughter’s mouth and like usual - she pushed it away. “Please Lexie… please just drink,” Riker whispered, bringing it towards her mouth again only to get rejected once again. And as Lexie’s tears fell, Riker felt his own falling again. For the last week… he had held it together… if not for him, for her. For Lexie, for his kids, for Amie who was calling him every few hours because she had seen… her mom say… what she said.

Wheter it was the exhaustion or something else, Riker didn’t know but all he did know was that he was crying. After a few seconds however, he found his daughter quieting up, watching as he silently sobbed - looking away from her and towards the wall. “babbhhb bab” He watched as his daughter opened her hands up, and for the first time all week, she started drinking the formula without fighting him.

Broken, that’s what he felt like as he stood in front of her… his wife after weeks of pretending like everything was fine. He was just standing there… looking at her… looking for any indication that told him she didn’t want this anymore. He was expecting it, after all. Though honestly, he didn’t know what to believe when she said her next words. She didn’t mean it? He had been analyzing and re analyzing her words ever single day since she left, and she didn’t mean… it?

"I want to go, leave me alone. I need a little break, okay? Just… I… I can’t do this anymore. This. Everything. I… can’t. Twenty years… I can’t be in this house right now. We… you, you’re the only person I ever slept with. Jesus… I have to go. "

Riker repeated her words - not taking a seat at her words. He felt his heart dropping at her crying… but he couldn’t. He just… if she was going to say it was over he didn’t need to sit. He was too anxious to sit. “That’s what you told me, Elodie. That’s… that’s what you told me… that’s what I’ve been thinking about for… fcking ever. I can’t get the look on your face out of my mind. You looked… like you never wanted to see me again. And you’re telling me you didn’t want to leave? Where did you… where were you? Wh…why? What did I do? I’m sorry… I didn’t… please don’t leave me Elo. I don’t… I can’t imagine a world where you’re not in it.”

Before she took another step further into the room, Annie searched Jezebel’s face for any disgust or hatred or… fear towards her. The pair had not interacted too much, but she had assumed that in her very few moments, more so altercations, there had been opinions and judgements already made. But those emotions weren’t present when she looked at Jezebel. Perhaps fear, but not towards her. When that unexpected confirmation came, Annie then advanced further into the room, seeing the babies that Jezebel was referring to as sisters - her sisters.

When Annie and Paige had shown up unannounced to their mother, they had been equally surprised when they were introduced to their half-sister: Rome or Paris or something stupid. The lack of connection and undeniable envy that she felt when meeting her was what she had expected to feel once again when seeing the babies. But, somehow, a single glance softened Annie’s features. They were her sisters. First family she was actually meeting at birth. Family she hadn’t had the chance to disappoint yet - or the other way around - and within seconds she found herself hoping she never did.

Though her attention was switched when Jezebel extended the introductions to the unseen third sibling, a brother. Which she assumed was who was being covered by the cluster of nurses on the other side of the room that Annie instinctively made her way over to. Lightly brushing past a nurse to get ahead she looked down at the baby, similar to his sisters but smaller, weaker. “Is he okay, what’s happening?” She asked quickly to whichever nurse would look up - which happened to be none of them. “Excuse me, hi, what’s happening? Is he going to be okay?” Annie repeated when she singled out a nurse for an answer. “We can’t give any certain answers, only that we’re finding some complications,” She vaguely told her in a hurry. “That’s it? You can’t say anything?” Annie pushed further, finding herself familiarised with protective instincts she had towards the baby. “Surely he can’t- he can’t, like- that’s my brother, you can’t just- he needs to be–” “I would suggest you stay with the rest of your family and wait for updates, Miss Williams.”

“I’m sorry this is happening, Jezebel,” Annie said in frustration as she walked back to the other half of the room, falling back into the chair by the bed. She took a moment to take in everything that had just happened in the last few minutes, forget the last few hours. “You really had triplets. How the he|l did you do that, that’s like, labour three times,” She told Jezebel, her eyes stuck to the ceiling. “I couldn’t imagine even doing it once, fvck that, you must be like… crazy strong,” Annie continued, then finally looking down at her. “Do you need anything, though, like water or something?”

The seat that she had taken was one that she remained in through the course of the night. While her and Jezebel attempted conversations at time, the fixation on the baby was unavoidable. “Ma’am, I need to ask that you go home and come back in the morning, the visiting hours are over,” The nurse eventually told her at whatever time of the day it was. Despite spending the last hour struggling to stay awake, Annie’s energy was restored when she was told to leave. “I can’t, you haven’t told us he will definitely be okay,” She told her, defensively. “What if something happens like, I don’t know, if something in the next–” “Annie,” She looked over at the interruption from Jezebel which made her sigh. The last thing Jezebel would want is to watch right now a screaming battle between her and the nurse. Annie stopped for a moment, hoping the nurse would miraculously change her mind. Nope. “Fine. But if anything happens–” “We will contact you as soon as we can.”

“She… had triplets,” Annie explained at Ricky’s doorway. “One’s in, uh, complicated- critical condition. But they told me to go home,” She told him as she looked up at him. “Is it okay that I’m… here?” Annie asked him hesitantly. After everything that had happened in the one day, facing rejection would not be ideal to add onto that.

There were so many times over the past few weeks that Jordan had broken his vows to his wife. It seemed like he kept doing that… disappointing those who mattered most to him. He had once vowed he’d never hurt Sadie and… clearly everyone knew how that went. Now, he did it again - and it killed him. It killed him that he hurt Jezebel… and Annie… and Sadie… and everyone in his life. It seemed Jordan Williams was more like his father than he ever wanted to admit - but look where he was. Look at what he had done. He was truly no better than the man who raised him, and part of him wished he could go back in time before he had ever met Jezebel and just… taken himself out of her life because honestly, he felt like it would have been better without him.

With her statement of wanting to be alone… he understood. If their roles were reversed - he’d want the same thing. Honestly, maybe he would want nothing to do with him ever again. He simply stood there as Jez said her words - and he agreed with all of it. He would have said sorry again, but he knew his words meant nothing to her right now. A sorry without action meant nothing and right now when Jez was learning her son was in the NICU, it really meant nothing.

He thought he knew himself too… he thought he would never hurt Jezebel. Though, forgetting her… he was… confused. A person placed in the wrong time… a person angry for no reason and not wanting to hear reason because his life was falling apart. And part of Jordan… that Jordan knew Jez was one of the only people who would understand him and… well Jordan wanted to punish himself… and ended up hurting her too in the process. So, instead of saying something that would simply confuse her more, he said nothing. That was, of course, until he heard her say his daughter’s name.

“Annie…” Jordan whispered, his eyes tearing up more as he saw his daughter. There was no hesitation as he wrapped his arms around her, kissing her forehead and whispering “I love you…” . He had sent a message to her while Jezebel was out… letting her and everyone who needed to know that he remembered. Though after a few seconds, he let go. Though, he didn’t let Jez’s comment about probably wanting to see him stop him. “We’ll talk later sweetie… can you just… be with them? Take care of them?” He whispered, low enough that Jez wouldn’t be able to hear him. If he couldn’t be there… he wanted her to be. Someone to be…

And with that, he kissed her forehead again and walked outside. He kept walking until he was outside of the hospital, and with that, he took a seat on the pavement… closing his eyes as he remembered… everything wrong he had done. And there was… so much. So much that he couldn’t even begin to apologize for.

It had been hours since he left his wife… if she was still his wife. At this point, he wouldn’t be surprised if she wanted to go with his idiotic… past self’s choice to send her divorce papers. He was in the waiting room - not willing to leave the hospital until he knew Jez was okay… and his babies were okay. Annie had left a few hours before after visiting hours had ended and the two sat together for a little while before he told her to go home and that they’d talk in the morning.

“Mr. Williams?”

Jordan looked up from his seat, watching as the doctor approached him. “I’m the doctor who’s on your son’s care team. We have him on a ventilator right now and we’ve been watching his vitals but… I think I need to tell you that he likely won’t survive the night. His vitals have been dropping for the past few hours and we suspect he won’t last until the morning. I notified your wife before coming here. And, if you want to sit with him, this would be the time.”

“There… there’s no chance… are you… there’s… he won’t survive?”

Jordan felt tears fill his eyes once more, and he found the doctor sitting next to him.

“There’s a small chance. If he survives the night, we think he’ll be okay but at this rate, it’s not likely.”

“Can… can I see my wife? I… I know visiting hours are…”

“Yes…yes of course. You two can sit outside the NICU as well, we have a glass panel where you can see him.”

And… well that’s exactly what he did. After the doctor left, Jordan walked back toward his wife - and heard sobs coming from the room. He found a nurse coming towards him with a wheelchair, who only gave him a pitiful smile before handing it to him before muttering something about it being for his wife.

“Ti…tink” Jordan whispered, bringing a wheelchair inside. “Do… you want to go see him with me? Or… I can… help you get there and leave if… if you want.”

Was he up for a hospital round 2 trip? Well, no. But he wasn’t letting Annie go alone after the entire reason for being at the precinct in the first place was for her. And trust him, if she wasn’t there, he would not have been either - after all, he’d like to avoid his… adoptive father at all costs if it was up to him. Placing his hand in hers, Ricky led the girl toward his car - no words leaving his lips until they were finally alone. Leaning against the passenger door, Enrique turned his body towards her and placed both his hands on her cheek - caressing it for a moment as he let his eyes meet her own.

“You scared me for a minute there,” he whispered, before bringing her lips to her forehead and kissing it. Cheesy? Perhaps but as rare as it was, Rick was scared. With that, Rick finally stopped leaning against the door so that he could open it for her. What? Ricky knew how to be a gentleman… especially for those he cared about and… well… he cared about her.

The drive itself was basically silent - with Annie on her phone catching up on what she missed and him driving her where they needed to go which, thankfully, wasn’t too far away. Though as they got there, Ricky didn’t get out of the car “I think… this is something that is for just you and your dad Annie. I’ll… I’ll be nearby if you need me but I don’t… want to intrude,”

And… well, just like that - Enrique found himself at his apartment… one that he hadn’t actually been in for a while. Thank you Finn for letting him crash, but it was time to go home. Logan wasn’t there - likely still at prom or at least an after-party, but honestly, he preferred not seeing her tonight. If there was one thing he didn’t need after everything - it was a “go talk to Diego” conversation.

From: Ricky
To: Annie
Hey if you need anything, I’m at my apartment

Perhaps it would have been a relatively… okay night. Except for the message he just received from an unknown number. Great.

~3 hours later~

He couldn’t sleep. No honestly, he tried and it just wasn’t working and for once, he didn’t feel like getting so drunk that he couldn’t feel anything. Part of him was worried about Annie who… well… had left him on read. And the other part… well… lets just say he had a few other things on his mind too. So, instead, Ricky found himself reading and rereading Blue Royalty’s message about Diego. Honestly, Rick still believed it was a lie. It had to be. It was just words meant to fck with them - fck with him. But… what if. What… if he wasn’t the only one not a part of the Montoya family… did that…change how he felt? Honestly, he was too tired to figure the answer to that question out. Rick was about to close his eyes for the third time trying once again to get some shut-eye when he heard a knock at his door.

Suffice it to say, he was surprised when the person on the other end was none other than Annie who… well… gave him the recap of what happened after she left.

“Are you okay?,” There was no hesitation in his voice as Enrique wrapped his arms around her - asking that question instead of answering hers about if it was okay that she was here. “What do you need? Water? Vodka? Someone to listen to you? A jacket to steal?,” Ricky asked, smirking at the last question at an attempt to joke even if it wasn’t exactly… the lightest mood the two had been in.

“I have like… no idea and that’s crazy because usually I have like a million ideas. Like like I definitely didn’t eat those gummies my friend gave me before I came here, and and I finished my stash like last week and I need to get more so… honestly… Whoooooo knows. WHAT IF WE GOT HIGH BY OSMOSIS? That’s how that works right? Like high concentration to low concentration and we were like the lowest of low concentrations so it just happened? Right?” Matty asked - though honestly he was more speaking out load than anything else at this point. Could anyone blame him, concentrating was hard enough as it was already and it didn’t make it any easier when he was in a state of being… well… not sober.

Oh.

She looks sad.

Matty looked at Sophie who had clear discomfort on her features, and had this… need to hug her. And so, well, he did just that. Wrapping his arms around her, Matty gave Sophie a biiiiiig hug. “Heeeeeyyyyy it’s okayyyyyyyy. We’ll come down in like… two hours… or one… or four… I mean technically it depends but it’ll leave but but but it goes faster if you eat or drink something do you wanna go get Mcdonalds? We can go get Mcdonalds and wash it out of your system if you want? Yes? Okay lets’ goooooo” Matty didn’t really ask, though he was already leading her back outside towards where the car they had taken in the first place was.

It being a “long story” clearly wasn’t the right thing to say. But certainly it had to be better than dumping the information on them. What was he supposed to say? “Hi I just found out about your existence an hour ago, but I’m your father. And you exist because your birth mother decided to take advantage of the fact that I was too drunk to know it was her, so much so that I’ve never been able to recall what happened, and have sex with me just because it would p!ss me off and it would hurt her sister.”

Saying it was a long story barely began to cover that situation, and this was not the time or the place to have that conversation. Especially without knowing if they knew anything about him or not. Though, both girls’ words made things very clear, they were realizing exactly who he was to them. Kai wanted to come in and fix everything, make everything right, but nothing was that simple.

Annie… they had evidence against her. A mountain of evidence, or one small piece, it didn’t matter. Even the smallest piece against her could be damning. Kai knew the family she had grown up with would take care of her, that they would do everything in their power to ensure the accusation against her would be nothing more than that, but that doesn’t mean Kai couldn’t do something. That was one perk of who his family was, he had contacts. It wouldn’t be difficult to call in a favor with one of the best criminal defense attorneys one could find, just to make absolutely certain she wouldn’t get stuck in a situation with no way out. She would come out of this fine, there was no way she wouldn’t.

However, it was then that the dynamic shifted. Annie had to go, her father, Jordan the man who raised her, needed her at the hospital. Kai didn’t know much about the situation, but he understood enough to understand her need to go. One of the young men left with her, taking her to see her father, leaving Kai alone with just Paige and the nervous boy. For a moment, there was silence. Though it may have just been a few seconds, both seemingly unsure how to proceed with this situation, it felt far more significant. Kai watched Paige’s actions, her pulling out a joint, pausing to give him the opportunity to light it. Though, the look on his face likely said it for him, he was not going to do that. Either way, just as soon as the words left her mouth, she changed her mind, grabbing her own lighter and doing it herself while not only bringing up how he hadn’t been in her life, but adding how she didn’t need anything from him.

If you had asked Kai beforehand how this was supposed to go, he wouldn’t have been able to tell you, but this certainly wasn’t it. For a mere second, Kai watched as Paige turned and began walking out, with the boy quickly following behind her. There was only one thing on Kai’s mind to do at that point, he had to follow them out the door.

Could someone give Eddie a recap on everything that had happened in the last few minutes? He was right there watching the whole thing and he felt like he was still missing something. There was this guy that came into the police station, a put together but completely disheveled demeanor at the same time. There was something about the guy Eddie couldn’t place, but he didn’t know what. The man appeared to be someone who had been through a lot, despite appearing to only be around the same age as the Taylor-DeLoughreys, Amie’s parents. But the way Paige, as well as Annie were reacting to the man who had apparently bailed her out implied there was much more to the story.

Eddie wasn’t a part of the situation, so he stayed out of it, but soon after Annie and Enrique left, Paige turned and walked out the door. She had his keys, and she wasn’t leaving without him, so he followed her out to the car. “Paige, its my car. Let me have my keys, please.” It was his car, he should be the one driving. He could take her home, or back to prom, or wherever else she wanted to go, but it was still his car. She had to give him back the keys at some point. Couldn’t she just let him drive now?

Malachi Azure

As the three of them approached the car, it was clear that Paige was ready to drive off who knows where and leave them both behind. However, as they got outside, the person with her was trying to get the keys from her, stating how it was his car. “I know you don’t need anything from me, but not everything is what you think. Give your friend his keys, and we can talk.” Kai wanted the chance to explain. He didn’t know what he would say, but shouldn’t he at least try to say something? Apologize for not having anything to do with her for her entire life, even though he never knew about her or Annie? At the very least, he knew he couldn’t just let her drive off like this, alone and smoking a joint. Would most say he was a good father? Not really, but he still tried, and letting her go like that without even trying anything wouldn’t make him any better of a father.

”honey nothing I do is completely normal, that’s just how it works” she told him, lightly raising her brow as she spoke. Which technically was true, I guess it just goes in the genes, they’re not exactly the most normal family in town. But definitely the best.

”just try it” she said, glancing at the suit, which for the record was one fine suit. You got lucky Williams that’s a great suit. ”well damn” she said in lowkey surprise as he tried it on, technically she knew it would fit but it looked better than she expected, which was a pleasant surprise to say the least. ”Who knew, you actually got that Prince Charming in you” she said with a playfully lowkey-joking-but-not-really tone

”I’m a mastermind, it runs in the family” she said with a smirk ”but for what it’s worth, this suit really does look good on you ” she said with a nice smile

Despite the months spent with Ricky, his instinctive welcoming still took her slightly by surprise. It wasn’t something she was used to seeing people have towards her. For a moment she stood in the embrace, with no words. She pulled away as he asked what she needs. That was a simple answer; what she needs is for her brother to be okay. But she doubted that he would be able to make that happen. So, besides that, she just showed a small smile as she told him; “Nothing.”

Her answer was honoured by the duration of the night being spent on the couch - as it was closest to the door in case of a call - and with only the small distracted conversation that she could get out. Annie stayed awake, leaning against the opposite arm of the couch from him, with her phone in her hand waiting for messages or calls that didn’t seem to be coming. She thought about Jezebel; and hoped she would be okay, she didn’t know much about her but losing her son she didn’t deserve. And then of the two daughters, worrying about them growing up with a loss already. Maybe Annie should have fought to stay overnight more. She should have stayed.

But occasionally Annie looked up at and thought about Ricky. She had wasted many weeks of wondering why he had been here when it had felt like no one else had, but now all she could do was appreciate that he had. It scared her to think he might be different from other guys in the past. It scared her to realise how she felt about him.

𝄞 I thought the plane was going down, how’d you turn it right around?

Annie rested her head against the arm of the couch, and looked up at the ceiling, where she stayed when she broke the silence; “You know, with Quinn…” Her voice quietly started, her eyes refusing to look back down at him, being the first time she had spoken to him about this. “I really, like, felt things for him,” She said slowly; then the slightest tone of disgust came through as she continued, “And then he, like, fvcked all of Beryl Heights in one night. And now, just in case my life wasn’t fvcked up enough, he might be sending me to prison,” The mention of which reminded her of what she had been facing earlier that night. It had been a long night.

“I thought that maybe meant that… falling for someone… wasn’t something that would happen for me again,” She said as her eyes slowly closed and voice got quieter. “I think maybe I was wrong about that.”

Rin stepped out of the back room of their parents cafe, carrying a tray with two glasses of milk tea on it over to a table by the window. Smiling at the couple sitting there, they greased them, setting the tea in front of each of them. “Please let me know if you need anything else.” Rin said with a smile, bowing. The couple thanked them as they walked away. The bell to the cafe chimed again, a familiar face entering the cafe. Wait, didn’t they go to their school? Rin waited for them to sit down before heading over to take their order. “Hello. Welcome to The Cherry Blossom Cafe. It’s really nice to see you, Niko. How are you?”

Honestly… Ricky didn’t realize how worried he was about Annie until he had her in his arms again. There was an instinctive sigh of relief that he just… couldn’t help. He…he liked her… and not in the way someone, as broken as Enrique Montoya was, should have been able to like someone. After all, just take a look at his attempts at love in the past: the cheating Lenora Foley and Veronica Charlotte. Though, apparently, VC hadn’t cheated but… well… could anyone blame his assumption? What Ricky had learned over his life was that love wasn’t in the cards for him - ever. Love was a game of cat and mouse, and Enrique had been stuck in the position of being the mouse far too many times to do it again. So instead of falling into that role again, he became the cat. He became the predator. He was the hunter, not the hunted… right?

So what the fck was this?

What the hell was this feeling that he had forgotten so many years ago? Who was this Ricky who found himself feeling… comfortable only in the presence of a girl who wasn’t willing to put up with his sht. Why this his heart race in the presence of Annie Williams? Why?

Sht.

Since the moment she had knocked on the door, both Annie and Ricky had situated themselves on opposite sides of his couch - his hand on her leg simply, mindlessly caressing it. For a while, he talked to her - asking about how she felt… what was going through her mind just to make sure she was… well… as close to being okay as she could be. After that - as hours passed and neither of them could sleep - they ended up simply in the quiet confines of his apartment, lazily staring at the ceiling under a blanket he had retrieved so she wouldn’t get cold. They had different reasons for staying up, of course… but the outcome was the same: both of them awake at a time when the rest of the city was likely asleep.

It wasn’t until she broke the silence that he finally left his endless stream of thoughts to join reality once again. She wasn’t looking at him, but it was clear what she was saying was something she hadn’t spoken out loud before. Quinn? Honestly, he never knew the two were a thing which was surprising since him and Quinn were actually friends until… that idiot fcked his sister. But what hurt him was what she said after mentioning that she… felt things for him. What Quinn did… was exactly what Ricky was… and what he had done many times over.

With her next words, however, he found time stilling to a halt.

Did she just… say what he thought she said? She still wasn’t looking at him, but the implications were clear. She cared for him. No one should care for him… not after everything he had done in his life… but she did. For the first time in a long time - Enrique Montoya was speechless. He didn’t have any witty remarks… and jokes… any comebacks. He was… frozen. The worst part - he felt the exact same way about her… and he shouldn’t… he wasn’t supposed to be here.

He didn’t know how long he sat there - no words leaving his lips as he processed her words… and at least attempted to process his own feelings…

“I’ve been in love twice in my life… and both times my life fell apart… I gave up on loving people because I fcking realized it wasn’t worth it. What was the fcking point when people just hurt you again and again until the only way you could feel anything was if you drank until the hallucinations became your fcking reality.” Ricky started in a whisper, looking at his ceiling as she did earlier. I gave up on friends. I gave up on my family because all I know how to do now is let people down. But I don’t know what it is about you Annie I just… when I’m around you I feel normal. I feel like for the first time in a long time… I can be that kid who believed love was real. And it’s… I don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve anything after everything I’ve done… but I think… I know I’m falling for you because I’ve felt this before and I’m scared."

Silence.

That’s all that met his words, and after a few minutes, Ricky finally looked down and met Annie’s sleeping face. Apparently, the exhaustion had taken its toll on her…

Play - Listen Up by Solomon

Told you not to fall in love with me… :musical_note:

Nothing good ever lasts. At this point - those words should be Enrique Montoya’s mantra. One day - that’s all it takes for someone’s world to turn upside down and that’s exactly what happened one week ago before Ricky decided to fck it all and disappear. Who’s fault was it? Well, his own of course. What would anyone fcking expect from a degenerate like Enrique Montoya?

He had it. Ricky had it… exactly what he wanted… needed… and he ruined it in an instant. There was no one to blame but himself and there was nothing he could do to fix that. Just ask Annie, she would confirm that. So instead, he did what he did best and he reverted to his shtty self. As he walked through school for the first time since he decided on his impromptu trip to Barbados, the feeling of self-hatred intensified. After all, the entirety of the school now knew what he had done. For the past few months, Enrique Montoya had played Annie Williams. She was a bet to him - just a trophy to put on his wall. Just a game: make her fall in love with him. Which, from their last conversation… last normal conversation he had done. It was a game of cat and mouse… but somehow, he forgot the game along the way. The issue was that he had also fallen for her - an unexpected consequence. A consequence that didn’t matter the next day as Blue Royalty had taken his silence… his decision to quit the little game… as the perfect time to release a video of him… a video where he logged his adventures of making Annie fall for him. A video where he explained how easy this was going to be… how easy it was. A video where he fcked Annie’s sister on camera. A video that ruined it all.

Entering a room with the words DETENTION written across it in big letters - Ricky went in quietly, taking a seat and closing his eyes. He didn’t want to be here and he wouldn’t… if he hadn’t gotten a message from the lovely dean telling him if he wasn’t here, he could kiss his diploma goodbye. As much as he didn’t care about it - something in the back of his mind nagged him. If he was going to disappear after high school, he might as well bring a high school diploma along. And technically, that school had offered him a football scholarship… but that required a diploma. Great - his only exit from this shthole town meant he had to be here.

Though the worst part about being here… here as in detention… was the fact that this was where his story with Annie started… and he couldn’t get her off his mind. Her hurt… the pain that he saw in her eyes as she watched the video. He had woken up to the sounds of Paige moaning - the video documenting it all, and he had seen it in her eyes. He knew what had happened… and it was over.

“Mr. Montoya, color me shocked that you actually decided to join us today.”

Ricky rolled his eyes, opening his eyes in the empty classroom. It was just him today - apparently. Well… or so he thought since the next person to enter the fcking door was yet another person he didn’t want to talk to. Why Lenora Foley was in detention? He didn’t know - all he knew was the entirety of the fcking world was against him so why the hell wouldn’t she be here. Rumor had it - and by rumor, he meant Blue royalty - had revealed that this girl had broken up with Elio. Which, was just a passing note on his travels, to be honest.

“Get to work on your assignments. I need to go talk to Dean Klein and I expect you two to be quiet until I get back.”

And with that - he was actually alone with her.

Great.

He saw her lips start to move, but Ricky stopped her before she even got a word out.

“There’s actually no reason you should be saying anything. Let’s just get through this day alright? I rather not hear about how Elio cheated on you or whatever the fck you’re going to tell me. And please don’t play high and mighty and berate me about the sh!t I did because honestly, it’s partially your fault I"m a shtty human being. K? I just don’t care.” And with that, Ricky put his legs on the desk, leaned his head against the back of the chair and closed his eyes - trying to go to sleep because it would be the only peace he’d probably be able to get.

There were many things that Kaspian disliked about his youth - and much was contributed by the… oh so lovely boarding school he was sent to by a family that clearly wanted him far away. After all, don’t all absentee parents dream of sending their children away until they were old enough to contribute to a 401k? No? Just his. Alright then.

That being said, it was at that very school where Kaspian learned many of his… awe invoking talents. There was one saying in particular that stuck with him as a grade-schooler - something that roughly translated to If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door. Or, in his mind, if opportunity doesn’t knock, use some tools to open that stupid door and fck sht up. Which was, well, exactly what he was doing one fine school morning. Crouching down, Kaspian stuck his lock pick into the lock - making slow movements until everything easily clicked into place and there he was, inside a house, he should probably not be in… though when did that ever stop him. What was he expecting here? Honestly, he didn’t know. Something to break the charade of a happy family - after all, no one in Beryl was happy. Let’s be honest - happy and rich didn’t go together. He had seen it firsthand by the wives of the wealthy - the closest they could be was content.

The moment he walked in, his eyes settled on a display of guitars on the opposite wall - one signed by Elvis, another signed by Michael Jackson, and so on and so forth. Honestly, if he snagged any of those, the bounty would be a pretty penny - enough for most people to live a comfortable life. Though, a rich assh0le flaunting his wealth? Was that supposed to shock him? To answer the metaphorical question - no, it didn’t. That’s what all rich idiots did - flaunt everything they had and beg to be stolen for so their insurance could give them a big payout. Though shockingly, the guitars were not what Kaspian was there for. Rather, he had a bigger… score in mind. Walking deeper into the foyer, for a second, his eyes caught something else of value. A picture - a big one displaying a big happy family. Two parents, and a little girl in the mom’s arms. If Kaspian didn’t know better, he’d even say the family looked happy behind the facade of the camera. Well, what did he really know? Maybe they were. Maybe that’s why that man had left. A small part of him wanted to smash the image of the smiling family into a million pieces. Hell, he may have even considered it until he heard the sound of someone walking down the stairs.

He should have moved. Hid. Walked the fck away, but he didn’t. Kaspian stayed still, taking in the image in all its entirety. Until, of course, he heard words that he should have expected from the beginning… though from a person he didn’t expect. “What the fck are you doing in my house?”

Kaspian didn’t say anything, simply leaned and looked at the photo some more. The child in the photo and the girl standing next to him now had clear similarities; the same hair, and facial features - though the current version had clearly matured. “Aren’t you supposed to be at school, McAllister? Or do you take after your father and make skipping a way of life?”

With those words, Kaspian shot her a smile before moving towards her kitchen with no answer to her question - making his way to her fridge as he pulled out a beer. "I feel like I should offer some. Though is it weird for me to offer you your own beer? Oh what the hell, who cares. I already broke into your house, I might as well be a gentleman. Kaya, want a beer? Kaspian asked, taking the second one in his hand and holding it in her direction.

Should Paige be giving a few more shts in this situation? Perhaps. Did she? No, she didn’t - after all, why should she? Her life had been turned upside down so much that at this point, it didn’t even shock her anymore. It was just another fcking day in a long list of shtty days - this one that simply headlined her father. Her white, blonde-haired, piece of sht privileged father decided that this moment was the time to make his grand appearance. No, not when she was born. Not when she was a kid and her best friend left and forgot her. Not when she almost broke her spine at her gymnastics competition and was told that the one thing she loved most in the entire fcking world, she couldn’t do anymore. Not when her other friend decided to tell her to go fck herself, and he preferred she would have died at that competition. Okay maybe Quinn didn’t say those exact words, but it was pretty damn close.

Anyways, it wasn’t any of those times. Nope. It was now. Well guess what dad, Paige Pierce didn’t need any men in her life - and she certainly didn’t need a man who probably needed SPF 100 sunscreen just to walk out in broad daylight with his pasty ass, and would still come back sunburned. Mr. Sperm donor could take his privileged white ass and go home, wherever the fck that was.

Paige ignored the other idiot, the one begging about his car. As much as she loved to see men beg, this wasn’t the time Eddie. She wasn’t in the mood for his I’m an innocent bystander sht today. And what peeved her most, was when the man who donated his sperm decided he could TALK back to her and tell her to do something. “Darling, you are not my fcking father, so how about you get off your high horse and not tell me what to do?” She simply muttered - even more enraged as she got in the driver’s seat, locking her door the instant she got in and starting the car. She should have just driven away - leaving both the idiots there in her dust. But instead, she simply sat there for a moment - taking another long drag of the joint. And another. And another. And before she knew it, she found her so-called father taking a seat next to her and Eddie getting in the back, asking her to give him his keys again. “Get out,” Paige muttered to both her passengers, though nobody moved. Fine, you wanted to join her for a joy ride - then she’d give you a fcking ride. With that thought in mind, Paige handed the man sitting next to her the joint she was smoking and immediately put the car into drive - pulling out of the station and onto the feeder road.

“Tell me, dear old daddy. What the actual fck gives you the right to come into my life now? When nobody fcking wants or needs you?” She waited for a second for an answer, but it was clear her dad had shut up. “Oh come on now, darling. You said you wanted to talk. You got in this car. So fcking talk.” Her words were followed by an increase in speed - and after a second, she had run her first red light on the empty road going approximately 25 mph over the limit. But that speed was only the start. Turning onto a road she drove often, Paige increased the speed (after slowing down slightly for the turn), now reaching about 30 miles over the limit. “Come on now, you’re gonna p*ssy out of giving me answers now? Talk. That’s what you’re here for.”

She could hear Eddie in the back, begging her to slow down - her speed now approaching 50 miles over the limit - but this was nothing for Paige. She had driven at far higher speeds, and honestly, right now, it was comforting.

70 mph

80 mph

No answers yet.

90 mph.

In front of them, out in the distance, it was clear to see the makings of a bridge that led out of town - but that didn’t stop the girl.

“You’re pathetic.”

Paige heard the screams to stop and at the last moment, her foot went on the break and her hand went on the gear changing it to neutral which slowed the car down, she turned the car and made a perfect 180 before the car stopped right in front of the bridge.

Silence fell in the car, and after a second, Paige opened the door and got out. “You can have your car back, Eric. There’s a bar up the road in case you care where I am. Enjoy the fcking ride home and… dad? Should I call you that? No, I prefer piece of sht actually. Go back to your real family, because I’m not it.”

And with that, Paige walked past the bridge towards a small motorcycle hangout that was just beyond it.

@Littlefeets - Not sure if her dad followed her there and talked to her while she was getting drunk

8 days - that’s how long had passed since everything went down. Everything meaning… well… quite a bit. Eric… eddie… whatever hadn’t spoken to her since everything which was expected. The poor boy probably sht himself in the car, and honestly, Paige didn’t care. Maybe she should… but she was too far gone to care anymore. Her dad? Gone, like everyone else in her life. And even Annie had stopped talking to her for a few days after a certain post came out. Out of everything, that last one hurt the most… which is exactly where this idea sprung up.

Currently, Paige sat across from her cousin in a Parker LLC helicopter giving the girl a smile. “So just to get this straight. When your dad was our age, he took a helicopter and parked on the football field, took over the coms in school, called his friends there, and then flew to vegas?” A smile grew on Paige’s face at the girl’s nod. “Well then, it’s a good thing we know how to keep a fcking tradition going.” Paige’s smile grew.

And that’s exactly what happened. Paige had somehow tricked Annie to get on the helicopter. And, well, Quinn was in the area so why not. She was bored and pulled him in and now, they were quite literally flying away. Here we come Vegas.

DID YOU KNOW THAT RAISING A DOG WAS ACTUALLY KIND OF HARD? DID YOU? ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT DOG WAS A PUPPY?

WELL YEAH.

IT WAS REALLY HARD. THE HARDEST THING HE HAD EVER DONE. MATEO HADN’T EVEN EVER KEPT A PLANT ALIVE AND NOW HE HAD JUST SIGNED HIMSELF UP TO TAKE CARE OF A LIVING, BREATHING DOG AND THAT DOG WAS… HARD. TO. TRAIN.

OH.

HOLD UP HOLD UP.

MATEO WAS THINKING IN CAPS AGAIN. GIVE HIS BRAIN A SECOND.

oh.

yes.

there we go. Now things were quiet. So yea, long story short - dogs=hard work. dogs that are babies = harder work. And this was exactllyyy why he was complaining to the preeeeetyyy Sophie in school. After all, she had the right to know that Dawg was being a rascal and eating all his little plushes that he won at the state fair which was like rude because he had a really great collection. ANYWAYS, the nice, amazing, gorgeous, pretty, nice… cute…hot…nice…pretty…did he say pretty? Sophie had said she’d come over to his place after school to help train the little rascal and honestly… Matty needed all the help he could get.

Also.

A pretty, nice, sweet, cute girl was coming over to his house so could anyone blame him for being giddy?

There was a sense of excitement when he heard the door ring, and Matty quite literally slid on his staircase handle alllll the way down, sliding to the door so that he could open it faster and see her. “OH HI. Um… fancy…uh…seeing you here I wasn’t expecting you. I mean… no that’s not what I mean. I’m trying to say I was expecting you but I wasn’t…”

ARF ARF

Matty looked down at his feet watching as his little dog ran to Sophie, cuddling on her foot and distracting from his terrible attempt at… well… letting her in. Thanks, dawg, maybe you do have some training.

“Would you…um…like a tour? I should… maybe I should let you in first yea…yeah I do that first…” and with that, he moved out of her way so she could come inside his house.

Would it be surprising to hear that Mason’s life was getting a little exhausting? Don’t get him wrong, it had always been exhausting. Four years of his life had been dedicated to getting to this point - and in retrospect, he had been doing well. After all, he was crowned prom king with his beautiful girlfriend by his side. Things were exactly as they should be. But exhausting? Yes, no matter what was happening - that much was true. Walking into the empty house that he had made his home for the last few years, Mason collapsed against the door - letting out a deep sigh as he heard his phone ring.

“Hello? Hey Jess, what’s up? No, I’m good, I’m alone.” Mason responded to the call from his sister. “Babysit? Jess… no I know… yeah… yeah it’s fine I can watch them… I know Jez needs you… yeah, I’ll be over in a few hours… yes… fine I’ll bring food… you don’t need to tell me, I’ve had your order memorized since I was five.” With that, Mason hung up the phone - getting up from the floor with every intention of taking a nap… until, of course, he found his front door opening and Sienna marching in.

“You know, Sienna. Me giving you a key to my house was for show. It doesn’t actually mean you can walk into my house whenever you feel like it right?” Mason stated dryly as he walked to his kitchen to pour a drink of water. This wasn’t the first time the girl had done this, it wouldn’t be the last. After all, as far as the fake relationship goes - the two had gotten comfortable around one another.

“Since you’re here though, why the hell are my teammates spreading around more pregnancy roomers about you? Please tell me you didn’t fck one of my teammates. I’m already covering for you and the fcking coach, we don’t need more holes in our story when we’re literally this fcking close to winning blue royalty.”

Elio skipped the dance. It wasn’t like he had a date, that he liked. Yeah, he stood this other girl up but they had met at another school’s party and had only texted a handful of tomes. He was drunk when he asked her, and she looked like Lenora. Instead of at the dance, he found himself in the gym the whole time. He didn’t mean to though, really. He was just trying to get a workout in and then it was like he didn’t remember how long he had been in their home gym. He didn’t even hear his sister head out. It’s not like it mattered anyways. It was just a dumb school dance, none of this would matter in the next few months anyways. He would be gone and living his dream. BUT the afterparty should be going on now and that was not as hard to get ready for. He threw on a pair of grey joggers and a plain back t-shirt; it was nothing special and he was okay with that. His tux was still hanging on the closet door, untouched and unused. Tags are still on it. His hair was still wet as he pulled his car out of the garage and turned down the road.

It was at a usual big house and there was music playing loudly already. Everyone was dressed up much nicer than him, but he didn’t care. He had to be honest, some looked a little overdone. He passed by a drink station and poured himself a drink into his red cup. It wasn’t cold so it went down harder, but it did the job. Soon enough he saw blonde locks ahead of him. Familiar ones that made his cheeks hot. Or was that the alcohol? Either way, he smiled as he shouted her name over the crowd, getting a few raised eyebrows and annoyed looks. He got over to her and could tell she wasn’t excited to see him by her expression, but let it go. Why would she be? It’s been months since they had an actual conversation…. in person. There had been DM’s and texts now and then. He grabbed her hand and led her quickly to a closet. It was full of cleaning items and empty boxes. Just enough room for two people to be shoulder to shoulder and no room to turn around.

Ah, so this is why you wanted to come to the afterparty?

It was dark in the closet for the most part. There was a faint glow coming from the cracks under the door. He raised his eyebrow a little taken aback. He wasn’t even trying to make a move and that is what she thought. She moved her hands to his shoulder and pushed him back a bit. His body is against the wall of the small closet. He shook his head and grabbed his phone quickly out of his pants pocket and immediately pulled up Instagram to a picture of Len. He didn’t say anything just showed her the post. He wasn’t really accusing her of anything, but then she made a joke out of it and that made him upset.

"Is that not like, 20 too many? You cheated, you have before and so you must have cheated like 20 times, everyone sees, and everyone knows, and I know too. " He regretted getting so upset but he could never handle his anger. He always said things he didn’t mean. He felt her hands find his face. He shook his head. The words kept spilling out of his mouth. He had horrible jealousy, only when it came to Lenora. He couldn’t understand it. He had other exes and girls he was hooking up with, but they never affected him as she did. She always said these boys were just friends. Look at her though, she was gorgeous, and any guy would be stupid to look at her and not think that. He didn’t care about the Ricky stuff and didn’t understand why she was bringing him up. All he ever did was say horrible things about her since and who was always there to stand up for her. Whether they were good at the time or not. He would take the punches and throw them. He was always defending her. For what?

“then you think of me as just as much of a slvt as what this whole town does. And I can’t date someone like that anymore, I won’t,”

"I have never called you that and have never thought of you that way! " He shook his head again. The words coming out this time in more of a pleading tone. " Lenora, but I love you." He said in the same tone. He never said this. He never let those words leave his mouth to her ever over these many years. He meant it and wanted to say it before but couldn’t muster pushing away his pride. She left and he didn’t even know if she had heard him. He wasn’t the best at showing his emotions. She and Mateo were the only ones, aside from family, that had seemed him even a little weak. But this cut was deep. What was he to do now? Stay at this party and just pretend he was okay. No. He slammed the door of the closet behind him. Letting the cup fall from his hand. He hadn’t even taken more than 4 drinks of the cheap alcohol. He walked back down the street to where he parked his car to leave. He walked past drunk students, stumbling and singing in mumbles.

It had been about a week. A week that Elio hadn’t spoken to anyone. He would check his phone, there were messages. None from her. This time felt different. He felt hurt. Broken. It never hurt this way before. He didn’t care about the cheating, whether it was true or not. He cared about how she thought he thought of her. He never thought down on her. Why would she think that? Is it is wrong if he texts, her and asks to come over? Is it wrong if he asks if she is moving on already? He couldn’t stop thinking though. He was running on the beach. Miles away from where anyone he knew could possibly be. The weather was nice. It was hot but cloudy. Humid. Her words danced through his head as he ran faster. Harder.

Until he came to a stop in front of a face he knew. “Phoebe?”
Again, he had thought he was far enough away from where his classmates usually went. Clearly, not. "What are you doing here? " That sounded so stupid coming out of his mouth. She was alone too. Which made him wonder. For the first time in a week, he wasn’t thinking about Lenora and he was okay with that.

Getting dressed with her mom was always fun. It has been a tradition practically since she was young. She dreaded going to her Parent’s business parties, or whatever people call them. So her Mom would try to make them better by making it a girl’s day. They would both go do something they like to do together. Whether that was something as simple as going to the gym together or making a week trip to another country before(vastly different, but both equally as helpful). Dani finished doing her hair by pining her braided bun in place. It’s quite literally the only nice hairstyle that she knows how to do. She wishes she knew how to do all the other stuff, but she just physically can’t. These parties were always very formal and fancy. The only reason she could handle them is because of her mom. Although they both try to force her to learn more about the company, her mom is more… reasonable. Probably because she hates them just as much as her.

Their car pulled to the very front, so thankfully it wasn’t a long walk. Dani instantly saw him as he approached her family. The direct eye contact made it rush back even faster. She felt her mouth start to water and froze. There was no way. He never came to these, so why would he be here now? The man started to speak to them. Hearing his voice killed her. She felt as if she was going to puke. Her breath quickened and became ragged. Her ears started to ring and become foggy thinking about that night. About that poor guy. What did he do to deserve that? Why did they have to be there, see that? He asked Dani how she has been which she dodged and instead drew a quick breath as she whispered,“I’ll be right back.” She rushed inside, searching for the bathroom. Dani muttered, “Excuse me,” as she pushed past her parent’s coworkers and into the bathrooms. She slammed the door shut and locked it rapidly. Dani crashed onto the floor, releasing the sobs that she had been holding back. Her body became increasingly shaky and hard to breathe…

After being taken out of school, for an admittable while, she finally has shown back up. Honestly, she doesn’t know if this place was better or not. It’s all been getting worse. Therapy hasn’t been helping and it isn’t like she can even talk to anyone. No one knows what’s actually going on. Besides… well they know who they are. They haven’t talked since she practically disappeared off the face of the earth. She doubts he has even thought of her. She doesn’t know how he just moves on with it. She is constantly haunted by it, but he just keeps going like nothing happened. The past months have been entirely sleepless. She just walks around at night, hoping for anything to stop her mind from constantly revolving around the same circle it has been. She would go and take her basketball with her, but nothing would work. Her mind has ruined her chances of going anywhere for it. Her shots have become lazy and hardly go in. It helps take her mind off of it until she gets frustrated with how it’s messing her up. After going to her father’s event and seeing that man, talking to that man… It revived all that she tried to push so far down inside her.

Dani walked across the street to get her coffee, not paying attention obviously when the honk from a car that almost hit her scared the absolute sh!t out of her. She wasn’t sure if she wanted that coffee anymore, but she for sure needed it if she was going to survive throughout the day. She pushes through the doors of the coffee shop, waving to the older man at the counter. A man who was almost like a grandpa to her and she hasn’t seen him in a while,Hi, it has been a long time, hasn’t it? You still remember my order?"

ok guys, one post done
