Blue Royalty: New Blood

“I hope the same for you.” Niko said but Tsumuji had doubts that she would win, why would she ever win? They were legacies and people who had much more chance at winning but her. Tsumuji shook her head and smiled, “Thank you” She hugged her friend. “I don’t actually know. Maybe go to the library?” Tsumuji knew Niko liked to read, she did too after all writing was her passion. “Do you think Ari would disturb us again?” Tsumuji asked suddenly remembering the troublesome Ari who had a god complex.

“Oh, Mario Kart and Super Mario are great games. Genshin Impact too. You can play it on the phone, PS4 or computer. It’s great. It’s similar to Breath of the Wild, but you get to play as multiple characters instead of just one. It’s free, too.” Luna couldn’t help saying, “You seem really interested in the 2000s stuff” Because all that he had listed had been from their parents era even a ps4, who uses a ps4 anymore? Oh right her dad to go back to the good ol’ days, Luna chuckled at the memory of her dad using those old machines. Though her father played some modern video games like : the attack of vundil da corck. “Oh, the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children books are really good. I think you’d like them. There are six.” Luna nodded, I will be sure to check them out."

“Yeah, I really like the old games. All the games now are just shooters. Not to mention, vor makes me sick. And yet I love roller coasters. Go figure.” He said, shrugging. “Oh, the books are great. It’s fantasy\horror, so hopefully you don’t get scared to easily. I don’t…because I’ve been through too much to be scared.” He said, muttering the last part.

Amie looked down, avoiding Alex’s gaze, something she’s done since they were little. A trait he’s come to admire, not that he’ll ever admit it, but there were a lot of things like that about her. Things that he probably shouldn’t have noticed when he did. He used to think it came with knowing her for longer than most people would stick around, now, he knows it’s love. He remembers the first time she did it, Riker coming home to find a broken vase, Amie’s eyes unmoving from the ground until Alex took pity on her and stepped up.

He wondered if he was as hopelessly in love with her then as he was now.

When he had asked for 5 minutes - 5 minutes for her to just listen to what he had to say without leaving or doing anything - she spoke out, obvious uncertainty behind the simple 3 words she said. His face fell, hoping she wouldn’t run away from this problem like she always did. Though as she shifted her body, her leg moving forward it was obvious she was going to leave. The words it feels like he’s heard before came out as a mumble, Alex barely hearing them.

“It’s… it’s my fault Alex… I know I’m an idiot… I know you only like me as a friend I get it I just… I’m sorry I can’t… do this…”

“Amie plea-”he managed to spit out before she walked past him in a rush, pulling the door open and going down the hallway. The look she gave him before leaving, the look that broke his heart, telling him he needed to fight for her. She doubted him, she thought he only liked her as a friend. Hell he would too after pushing away the girl he loved. He pushes down his own frustration, before turning to follow after her, looking to see where Amie had gone.

Finally, he had caught up to her, grabbing her arm and spinning her around. Even then, she won’t meet his gaze, he raised his arm hesitantly to slide his finger under her jaw. Calloused hands met soft flesh, and he found himself wondering if she enjoyed the feeling. He certainly did, he could see himself placing soft calming touches in a way their friendship wouldn’t allow before. Right now, all he had to do was convince her that this was right.

“I love the way your mind works, but sometimes it’s too much. Listen to me, not your head- or well, you should listen to your head, but after I’m done speaking. Now, I’m rambling, I’ll just say it.” Mentally, he cursed himself for his nervous rambling, “I want to try us, Ames.”

Her nervous gaze flickered across his face, worlds of doubt showing in such a small action. He resisted the urge to frown, if she was going to be cautious he needed to be her rock. His hand moved to cup her cheek, thumb stroking gently.

“I’m not an idiot, I know relationships take work, but this is worth it. You are worth it.”

“Why are you so serious? I’m just messing with you…I trust you,”
“Yeah, of course you were!” Clara responded with a smile, trying not to give Phoebe a death stare when she nudged her. She figured it was better to play along than to cause more tension between the two of them. She straightened out her shirt as Phoebe complimented it, feeling somewhat grateful that they’d moved on. “A friend of mine bought it for me in Paris,” She explained, her smile becoming less forced, as this memory of her and the person who bought the shirt for her was one of her happier memories.

“Well, this has been nice, but I have something I need to do before class,” This was a complete lie. Clara didn’t have anything she needed to do before class, but she had a feeling that if she spent any more time with Phoebe, something bad was going to happen. “Au revoir!” She said with a quick wave, before turning on her heels and walking away without looking back, running her hand through her hair as she did.

Once she was well past Phoebe, she fully relaxed, the smile she had been keeping plastered on her face finally falling. What the f-ck just happened. She thought to herself as she wandered through the halls, desperate for someone else to talk to. Luckily, a few seconds later she spotted one of her friends, JP Medina. “Hey, Julian,” She greeted him. “How are you doing on this fine morning?” She asked, her voice full of sarcasm.

Embry nodded as Leah mentioned that reading from the Bible could wait. She didn’t know how to respond to that since her relationship with religion was fairly complicated. She smiled as she sat down next to her, sliding her backpack off of her shoulders and placing it on the ground beside her. “I’m pretty good.” She answered as she crossed her legs. “What about you, how have you been?” She asked, leaning back against the wall.

Leah smiled when Embry sat down, folding her hands in her lap. “I’m glad you’re well. I’m alright…” Lie. That was a lie. The Christian daughter of the Adams’s was a liar. She just didn’t want anyone to know, that was it. Leah fidgeted, smoothing down her dress. “So…what your first class?” She asked with a smile. He knew she shouldn’t feel the way she did around Embry…there was also the fact that she…wasn’t completely a SHE.

Do you think Ari would disturb us again?
“Again?” They asked, confused as to what Tsumuji meant by that. As far as they knew, they hadn’t had any recent run-ins with Ari, the wannabe queen bee. “Is there something I’m forgetting?” They added as they began to walk towards the library, hoping Tsumuji could fill them in. The library was essentially the only place in the school Niko confidently knew how to get to without getting lost, aside from the cafeteria. Their actual classrooms took them months to remember the location.

Napoleon Park

“안녕!” Leon called out to his roommate, even though he knew she was most likely still sleeping. After doing so, he exited their apartment and closed the door, locking it behind him. He took the elevator down to the parking lot and got in his car, driving out of the parking lot and towards Cerulean High. He’d attended the school since his freshman year, but some rather unfortunate circumstances caused him to miss the first few weeks of classes. His phone began to ring and he answered it using his car’s phone system.

“Napoleon.” His roommate’s voice came through the speakers and he could tell that she wasn’t happy. “Young-Mi.” He responded, not entirely sure what he’d done to warrant her using his full name. “I’m going to say this in English so you understand,” She spoke slowly as if she were speaking to a child. He rolled his eyes. “Wake me like that again, and you’re dead. Got it?” Leon chuckled. He knew that she wasn’t a morning person, but he really thought that she hadn’t heard him. “Noted. Is that the only reason you called?” He asked, just to be safe, even though he was pretty sure he already knew the answer. “Yes. I’m going back to sleep.” She didn’t even give him the chance to say anything else before hanging up the phone. He drove the rest of the way back to the school with the radio on.

When he arrived at the school building, he parked his car in the lot and grabbed his bag out of the trunk before he walked into the building. The school’s familiar surroundings brought a smile to his face as he realized how much he actually missed being here. He first visited his locker, ditching anything he didn’t need, before turning and walking down the hall. Finding someone who wasn’t otherwise pre-occupied, he walked over to her with a smile and a quick wave. “Hello!” He greeted her.

Karen laughed when the guy put his backpack on the desk. “I don’t know what to say. I’ve never seen someone bring a stash of candy to school…but I’m not complaining.“
She shrugged her shoulders with a smile and began digging through the bag.
“Just go through there, but don’t get into my notebooks and little pockets, you might find something else… just kidding, of course.”

She quickly lifted up her head and started laughing. “Oh, don’t worry, I’m not nosy.” Now her mind couldn’t help but wonder what else he had in there even though he said he was just joking. She pulled out a snickers bar and started unwrapping it. “I don’t think it’s healthy for either of us to eat this so early in the morning.” As she watched Cynric bite through a random piece of candy, she couldn’t help but wonder if he did this every single morning and if he ever got sick from it, but she wasn’t going to ask him that because she didn’t want him to think she was telling him what to do.
Cynric then asked about the blue royalty game “Yeah I’m… participating.” There was a bit of silence until she spoke again. “That’s basically why I even came to this school, so.” She slowly nodded her head then turned the question back to him. “Are you participating in the game?”

Hyun-Ae smiled when Jackie introduced himself. “Herro, Jackie. Your name isn’t Jack? It’s actually Jackie? That’s interesting.” She listened to him rant about his mom, nodding along. She blinked when she compared her name to that famous scientist. “Not ecxactry. My name means wise and loving.” She Nonnen when he asked if they had to go through North Korea. “Yes, everything is fine, though.”

Compared to the absolute sh!t show of a day he was having, Enrique Montoya (at this point in time) was as relaxed as someone could be. Maybe that was the sheer amount of pain killers he was given in the emergency room, nevertheless, unbothered was the best term to now describe him. Sure he could still be his assh0le self - take the sentiment to Lenora, for example - but overall, nothing really mattered. He was numb to all of it.

After he said his piece to Annie Williams, Enrique once again closed his eyes. He honestly wouldn’t have minded just going to sleep right then and there. Who cared if his father was waiting for him, god who really cared about anything anymore? The fact that his father really thought that he would be moving back to the house was a mixture of ironic, sad, yet, hilarious all mashed into one situation. As if he’d ever go back there - to that house with…all of… them. That big ol’ happy family. Yeah right. He was barely one of them as it was. Diego, Raph, Isabella honestly would do better without him anyways, and truthfully, Enrique Montoya preferred being alone. It was… serene.

He heard the girl in front of him answer his sentiment, though he made no effort to open his eyes and face her with her words of being on the dark path longer. “Annie, if you were on the ‘dark path’ I think we would have crossed paths before now. If I had to make a guess, you’re just now coming down the rabbit hole. At least, further, than you have been before. Never too late to turn back if you’re scared, sweetie,” he stated. It was at her next words that an amused look became prevalent on his features. Opening one eye, he stared at her, looking at the girl who turned towards him. “No worries - I thought it’s my civic duty to let you know the police are thinking about you. Maybe they’ll even send you a Christmas card,” he stated, before leaning closer. “What a bore. There are some messages worth sending. Like a fck you or go to hell - though I guess you’re a little to scared to send those huh? I wouldn’t be surprised, go back up the rabbit hole. Sometimes the bad look isn’t for everyone… truly… nothing to be ashamed of. Though… if you… .dare… travel a little further. I have a message you could send to dear ol’ dad. Though it would require sneaking out of this dump,”

There was something about Leah’s tone that didn’t sit right with Embry, but she didn’t have the time to say anything before Leah moved on to the next question. “I have law next.” She answered, resting her arms on top of her thighs. Law wasn’t exactly her favourite subject, but it was one that her father wanted her to study and she didn’t want to disappoint him. “What about you?”

“Law? That’s really cool! Are you wanting to be a judge?” Leah asked, eyes lighting up. That was really cool! Now she admired Embry even more. Yes, she admired her. That was it. “I have English. Silent reading…again…” She sighed, staring down at the Bible in her lap. She wanted to read the books her peers did, but the Bible wasn’t bad.

“Again?” Tsumuji nodded with a smile, “Like she used to do back then.” She said playing with the bottom of her dress. “Is there something I’m forgetting?” Tsumuji shook her head “No?” she giggled as they walked to the school’s library. Tsumuji looked at all the books, ‘wow’ she thought. Tsumuji stumbled one particular book caught her interest, it was titled ‘guide for writers 203’ by Eliots Lunatic. Tsumuji looked at it which interest before picking it and grabbing Nico’s hand took them to a seat. “Want to play 20 questions?” Tsumuji asked.

Embry laughed when Leah asked her if she wanted to be a judge. “No, absolutely not.” She responded, shaking her head. “I want to be a model. I’m only taking law because my dad made me.” She explained. As Leah answered the last question Embry had asked, she found that her tone once again didn’t sit right with her. “Yeah, I always hated silent reading in class. Don’t get me wrong, I love curling up with a good book and some tea, but I hate being forced to read.” She said, sympathizing with her. Unable to shake the nagging feeling in the back of her mind, she asked, “Hey, are you alright?”

Leah blushed in embarrassment when Embry said she actually wanted to be a model. “Oh, I see. You would make a really pretty model…” She mumbled quietly. “I’ve always hated it, because I can only read approved books….mainly the holy Bible.” She fidgeted when Embry asked if she was ok. “Yeah, I’m fine. Why?” She was confused. What did she think was wrong?

In… out… in… out. Do what that meditation video was showing you, Amie reminded herself as she found herself walking away from Alexander and not for the first time. Over the past few months, this was her usual: Avoidance. Perhaps… this had always been her usual. When things became tough… or confusing… or frustrating… Amie had a tendency to run away. After all… what was she supposed to do? She was simply one, single person who had absolutely no control over those situations… the only thing she knew how to do was leave. Maybe she got that trait from her mother… a woman who, only a few months earlier, disappeared off the face of the planet leaving her father broken-hearted.

Phoebe never saw it… though Phoebe always had a way of blocking everything else out and taking care of herself. Not that was a trait that Amelia oftentimes admired, however, in the case of what happened to their family the girl just wished her sister could see behind the false smiles their father portrayed. See behind the lies that their mother was on a business trip. God… she just… wanted someone to talk to and in the past, that someone had been Alexander Beaumont-Stokes. Until… of course… Amie messed that up. Apparently, that was the ongoing theme in her life… messing up in her love life, and consequently, messing up any chance at a normal friendship with the man.

So yes, she ran. Her eyes were glued to the floor as she walked away in a hurry which… in retrospect, was probably a bad idea since another recurring theme in her life was a neverending clumsiness which only seemed to breed trouble. Trouble that would probably start with something such as ‘not watching where she was going.’ However, Amelia Grace didn’t get far before she felt someone pull her back, and it really only took one guess to know who that person was.

She didn’t look up, instead, her eyes stayed at his shoes - looking at them and talking in every detail as she reminded herself to breathe. She closed her eyes slightly, feeling his hand touch her jaw, and automatically moved towards the touch. It was honestly futile to resist because truly, as much as she would convince herself otherwise, Alex meant something to her.

She listened to his words as he moved her jaw so that her eyes would meet his, and she swore she could hear the thumping of her heart grow louder in her ears as he said that he wanted to try them. Perhaps for a second, she even had hope… hope that the man that she had a crush on for the last 7 years of her life may have liked her back. But here’s the thing - this was Amelia Grace, not Phoebe Renee. People didn’t fall for Amie - just take a look at Maxon Russo. Between the two of them, Amelia was the girl known for her intelligence, not her charisma in charming boys and she would likely never be that girl. It was exactly at that moment that Amie was highly aware of the eyes on her by the other students in the hallway, her brain quickly putting two and two together to realize that the only likely explanation of Alex’s change in tone was… Blue Royalty. As much as she wanted to believe that Alex really wanted this… it… just wasn’t probable. Not… for her. It was far more likely that this was simply a task and honestly, Amie just… didn’t want her heartbroken for the second time.

Her eyes flicked close for a few seconds, her heart aching as she felt his thumb on her face. God how she wished this was real. “I… just can’t Alex… I can’t do this again,” those were the only words that left her mouth after his last sentiment, and with that, she gave him one final look: a look that pained her more than most other things had in her life. A look that said this meant more than just a romantic relationship, it also meant their friendship. With that, she turned away from him and did what she never imagined she would - Amelia Grace left school, skipping the rest of the day and making her way home.

TIMESKIP A FEW HOURS

After spending most of the day in her room, hiding under the covers, Amie finally got up as Rascal, her dog, came pattering into her room - a soft pleading sound coming from his mouth in an attempt to make the girl walk him. The moment she got home, her father had asked if she was okay though after a simple explanation that she wasn’t feeling well, he didn’t push past that. Though… this was likely because Lexie started crying moments afterward needing her father’s attention. “Alright alright, I’m coming” Amie laughed, watching as the puppy tried to pull her shirt in an attempt to make her get out of bed.

Grabbing his leash, Amie led the dog outside - giving her dad a simple word of where she was going - before taking the walk out of her backyard and onto the beach. It was something she actually enjoyed about living on the beach, the simple proximity of walking a few steps and being on the sand. Though any serenity she felt disappeared when the little puppy pulled a little too hard and begin running away from her. “RASCAL” Amie yelled, chasing the dog for a few seconds, though sighing in relief after she found him stopping near someone.

The only problem… that someone was her ex… if… she could even call the man who was using her for 4 months that. “Get the hell away from him,” Amie started, walking up to the man who had her puppy in his hands. “Why are you here, Maxon? If I remember correctly, I told you to stay away from me.” she started, annoyance in her eyes. If the man didn’t have her dog in his hands, she would have already walked away by now and god… did she want to walk away.
