Aline Ribeiro
Elske reacted much better than she had expected her to when she had been honest about her opinions on Blue Royalty. It didn’t seem like this was going to be the end of their friendship either, which she was grateful for—Elske really seemed like a good friend to have. Her friend seemed to have a mindset that she was going to dismantle Blue Royalty, which felt a little naive in Aline’s honest opinion. Elske has said “It doesn’t hurt to try” but it definitely could hurt her to try, considering the blog’s way of obtaining any information they need of their target. They knew more than Daniel, and that said a lot.
“Yes, let them regret it. I would be the greatest date,” she said, laughing. While she had dreamed of going to prom with someone, she was always known for adapting well to change. If Elske was going to be there, she was sure that she would have fun at prom regardless of whether she had an official date or not.
It was soon after that that Elske departed, Aline waving goodbye to her. She was happy that Elske would be joining the many students at Cerulean, even if they didn’t quite share the same opinions.
A much-awaited day it was today, the 20th of March which was prom and, less importantly, her twin brother’s birthday. A good amount of her childhood was spent dreaming about this day, and finally, it was here. She spent the whole day just thinking about the future events of the evening, which meant she was very spacey for the majority of Lui’s birthday. Usually, she spent his birthday embarrassing him as much as possible 'cause he didn’t like being the centre of attention, but today she actually gave him the day he wanted; a quiet morning and afternoon with his family, with no obnoxious happy birthday song belting. And she was oddly complacent. Aline could tell that Luciano noticed this change in behaviour but he just took full advantage of it.
Luciano was born on the 20th, at 11:47 PM and Aline had been born nearly half an hour later at 12:14 AM on the 21st. They had always celebrated their birthdays on different days—even back in Brazil, except they usually used the same cake—and to celebrate it together would be weird for them now. Aline liked how they did things, as her and Luciano’s preferences on how to spend their birthdays were very different. She liked lavish parties and he liked quiet dinners. Celebrating their birthday together would definitely be a source of much conflict, so they never did that.
His birthday passed pretty quickly, and soon it was just about time to start heading to prom. Aline was in her room with her two younger sisters, Andressa and Nadalia. Nadalia, the older of the two, had been with her since the beginning, helping her get ready, while Andressa had only just came in. Now, she stood in front of her full-length mirror, twisting her body and watching the silky fabric move with her. Her makeup was done and she had gotten her hair braided yesterday, meaning they looked as good as they were going to. Andressa stood at her side in front of the mirror while Nadalia was propped up on her bed.
“You’re so pretty, Ali,” Andressa said, looking up at her big sister. “Yeah, you are,” Nadalia agreed from the bed.
Aline smiled at the two of them, wrapping Andressa’s hand in hers. “I am, aren’t I?” She grinned. Andressa giggled and Nadalia rolled her eyes playfully. Both of them were pretty used to her cockiness by now. Satisfied with her appearance, she walked over to sit by Nadalia on the bed, Andressa eagerly hopping on.
“Do you have a date?” Nadalia asked her, scooching close to Aline.
She was shaking her head, about to give Nadalia a feministic speech on how she didn’t need a date to have fun at prom, and then her phone buzzed.
It couldn’t have been Blue Royalty, as that text message had come earlier. Her tasks weren’t too hard, but one she had decided against since she couldn’t imagine doing something like that. Aline opened her phone, seeing it was in fact from Elske, who had randomly asked her to the prom. She smiled, tapping out a quick reply before putting the phone away.
“Who was that?” Andy asked.
Aline ruffled her hair, standing. “That was my date.”
“OOOOH,” the girls chorused, to Aline’s laughter.
“Do we know him?” Nadalia asked.
“Her,” she corrected. “And no, you don’t. But we’ll take lots of pictures and I’ll show you all of them tomorrow.”
“Okay!” Andressa said, hopping off the bed. “I’m gonna go see Lui now, bye Ali!” With that, she ran out the door, leaving just her and Nadalia.
“I wanna be like you when I’m older,” Nadalia said, out of nowhere, breaking the silence. Aline’s head turned her way, a curious look to her face.
“Why?”
“'Cause you’re so cool.” She said, plucking at the string on her bed. “You don’t care about what anyone thinks, you just do what you want.”
She wasn’t 100% sure that was a compliment, but she decided to take it as one, hugging Nadalia close to her. “Lee Lee, you don’t need to be me, you’re awesome already.”
“Really?”
“Yeah! Didn’t you fight Luca because he was bullying your friend Alex?”
She frowned, shrugging. “Papi says violence is never the answer.”
“Papi needs to get the stick out of his ass,” she told her, straight-faced until Nadalia started giggling, which made her start too. “That was a hero thing to do Lee Lee. So you’re already mucho awesome yourself. Promise.”
Nadalia smiled to herself before hopping off the bed and pulling Aline up too. “Okay, now go have an awesome prom.”
She smiled, walking out of the room. “I will.”

A while later, after Aline had told Luciano to go over to Gio and greet him and after she had watched them practically make out in front of everyone—she couldn’t believe that the words she had said earlier to Luciano had actually came true—Aline decided to go outside, see if Elske had arrived yet. She stepped outside and saw her almost immediately, seemingly waiting for someone—probably her. She hadn’t known she was waiting outside for all this time, else she would’ve come out way earlier. Aline had no way of knowing how long she had been standing here, but she wondered if Elske had thought she had stood her up.
Her mouth dropped. Elske looked gorgeous in her blue dress, it was definitely something she could see her wearing, and it fit her so well. Aline walked towards her, an easy smile coming to her lips. At her side, she lightly tapped her arm, smiling as she turned to her. “Hey, linda,” she said, pulling her into a hug. “Seriously, you look so beautiful. This dress is gorgeous.”
She frowned slightly, her eyes flicking to the doors of the hall. “Have you been out here this whole time? I didn’t know, Els, I’m so sorry to keep you waiting.”
