“Yes, it really is a great gesture. Right next to my ring pop finger.” Jess smiled, her middle finger still out as she talked to Andy - likely getting dirty looks from anyone who saw her in passing. She did raise her eyebrow as McNugget guessed who she was talking about, as did the three officers doing work near her. Seemed no one really liked Officer Whittle - well, they wouldn’t really have to deal with him much longer. Jessica didn’t often care about these things, but for the simple fact of him being an arse and to save people future pain, she was going to get him fired for wrongful arrest. And the bruises on her wrists could also go towards a manhandling charge - though, with Daniel’s help, she didn’t technically need real proof to do either. She just didn’t want any girls in the future getting arrested by that man - especially for the sheer bias and hatred within the man on women and people of color.
“No mustache either - you’ll look like one of those evil villains from the 1900s or just look like you have a cockroach on your lip and neither is a good look Love. One second,” Jess mumbled into the phone as an officer passed her. “Hey, just a bit of advice. Lose the stach, it really isn’t framing your face well.” Jess told the man who touched his face immediately and quickly walked away from her unsolicited advice. “Okay sorry about that, and you can bail either of us out or both - I’ll let you choose. One of us is related to you by blood, one of us you love like they were related to you by blood,” Jess laughed, rolling her eyes as Andy told her about his tattoo idea. “Damn Andy, you should have asked me five minutes ago before I decided that’s where Bob Marlay goes. But I guess since you have a tattoo for me on your arm, it’s only fair I get one for you.” Jess laughed, “So where would you like your face instead? Right butt cheek is free?” Jess offered, her mind almost forgetting the incident with Dorian earlier with the smile Andy brought to her lips. “Thanks love,” Jess mumbled as the phone call ended. She was about to head back when she saw her favorite Officer Roy pass by her and hugged the man.
“JESSICA” she heard and laughter left her lips “I heard my favorite troublemaker was back so I had to come to see her, now… why don’t you tell me what happened this time”
“Ahh, would you like me to start from the beginning?” Jess questioned, though already knowing he would. “Well… the day started off at a funeral…”
It had been about forty five minutes and her audience with Officer Roy had become a party of Officer Roy, Callahan, Roberts, Emilio, Redding, and Platz - all listening as she talked about the all the bits and pieces of the day - including falling naked on top of Dorian, which Roberts agreed WAS AN ACCIDENT, to pretending to be dating Dylan, which Roy agreed was hilarious and needed with Davina’s constant shipping, and all the way to yelling at Whittle, which they all agreed needed to be done. “So now I’m here, waiting for my friend to pay bail - really not wanting to go back to that idiot who yelled at me.” Jess mumbled with a sigh.
“So why’d you leave? I mean that seems to be the big issue for him huh?” Officer Emilio asked and Jess smiled softly. “I didn’t want to. I really didn’t but there was something that made me do it and… I didn’t really have a choice.” Jess sighed. Honestly, sometimes it felt easier to tell strangers one’s problem than it ever did to tell her friends… or ex friends, “Though apparently, he thinks I never said anything to him and I definitely left a voicemail…” Jess mumbled - receiving groans from the group. “You can’t just leave a voicemail to your best friend,”
“HE WAS HAVING SEX WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND. I wasn’t going to ruin that night for him… though I may have tried to see him earlier that night… it just… didn’t work out. A voicemail… was just easier after that… I guess,” Jess sighed before continuing, “But I guess it really doesn’t matter anyway. I don’t even remember exactly what I said… I may have added something about the red socks in there,” Jess smiled, getting laughs from the group, “So it’s probably better. Anyway, it was really nice to meet all of you. I hope to see all of you again, preferably not in a jail cell,” Jess grinned, actually here’s my number - I definitely heard you all talking about a poker night and I hope to be invited," Jess laughed before giving the group her phone number. “Alright, now who’s taking me back and having the pleasure of seeing me stuck in a room with that idiot?” Jess added and Roy stood up with the words “Wouldn’t miss this for the world” Though as they started walking, he did add that he could get her a single cell so she wouldn’t be stuck with him.
“Sometimes you just have to face it,” Jess smiled as Dorian came back into view, bringing a pit in her stomach that the last forty minutes had gotten rid of momentarily. “Thanks, Roy. Don’t forget. Tuesday night. I’ll bring the wings.” Jess sent him a grin as he locked her back inside and she took a seat on the floor - not wanting to be near Dorian. As she settled down, Jessica pulled her 2-inch heels off her feet and threw them to the side. “You know, heels suck,” Jess started - trying to break the tension again, coming down from the high of talking to people who were actually engaging with her. “Like what is it with women having to wear heels? I’d take bloody converse any day. Though I guess you don’t ever have to deal with that… lucky you having a pen!s and not having to deal with societal standards,” Jess spoke. At this point, she was probably talking more to herself than anyone else. “Anyways… Someone’s coming to bail both of us out by the way… Probably should be here soon. Though you told me earlier not to talk about this certain individual so I don’t know if I’m allowed to say his name,”
A sigh left her lips as Jess leaned against the bars, “Okay so you’re really just going to not say anything? I mean I get it - you realized you were being an arse and I was right? Understandable…” Perhaps in part, she was trying to rile him up, just to get even a word out of him. Silence never faired well for Jessica. “Alright how about this. We can’t talk about my love life, but why don’t we talk about yours? What about you and Anna last year?” Jess mumbled, remembering the news outlets covering the story of Anna dating rising soccer player “Dorian DeLoughrey”. Usually, she’d just think it was just another thing for Anna to upset Jessica, but the way they looked together in the photos… she wasn’t really sure. “You’re such a hypocrite you know,”
