He just… believed him. Like, with no further questioning at all. No doubt at all. And, maybe it wasn’t that surprising since if the situations were reversed he’d probably be inclined to believe Gio too, but it did send waves of guilt coursing through him. He hated to think that he was just deceiving Gio when he was so willing to trust him. Lui subtly chewed the inside of his lip, his gaze falling to the floor briefly.
Lui had said that sentence partly because it was true, he did miss Gio just as he also wanted to avoid him, and also as a vain attempt to get him to feel less guilty. Somehow, though, his response just made him feel worse. ”Now you’ll never know, Aline and I might have been sobbing in the car but you weren’t there to witness." He laughed slightly, raising his eyebrows. “I spent like eighteen years of mornings with Aline, I’m sure she was fine with me missing one,” he replied. "Kidding we didn’t cry, but I did miss you.” Gio leaned up and lightly pecked his lips, which made Lui smile, then frown. Yeah… who was he kidding, he couldn’t keep this from Gio.
“I need to tell you something,” he said suddenly, looking up to meet his eyes.
