“So we both didn’t know what to do. Great,” Dorian mumbled, shaking his head as he looked around, avoiding her gaze as she was speaking. As much as he wanted to be mad at her for avoiding the truth it was the right thing to do, they were both with different people. But as soon as she said how he never had feelings for her, he looked back but kept quiet, not really listening to what she was saying after. Did he have feelings for her? Maybe it was something he always tried to ignore, just like she said - why would he ruin their friendship but that might’ve changed after that party. And who knows what he would’ve done if she never left. How he would feel, if he would ever say anything to her. All he knew was that after hearing that voicemail and hearing what she said, he realized he did feel something for his best friend and that was really messing with him.
What caught his attention again was her question that at first confused him but he soon figured what she meant. The dream she had, she thought it was real? “We didn’t use it. I really didn’t want to look for it in Daniel’s room,” even if he was mad he couldn’t help but mess with her a bit, slightly shrugging his shoulders as if he didn’t care about the fact they “didn’t use a condom”. If this happened four years ago he’d laugh at what she said, continue joking but this wasn’t the time for it. “We didn’t sleep together, Jessica. I would never do that while you’re wasted.”
”And I couldn’t tell you I remember what happened a few nights ago because I still fcking love you and you clearly don’t and I can’t…”
“You what?” He whispered, looking at her with an almost invisible frown. Those were not the words he’d expect to hear, not from her after so many years. After never calling him. After seeing his family and cousin but never him. And standing there, just looking at her, maybe that’s what he wanted to ask her. Why she never did anything then? But that’s not what he did.
Just like few days ago, he found himself stepping even closer to her and placing his hands on her cheeks before gently placing his lips on hers. But this time not because he wanted to make her stop talking, but because he wanted to kiss her.
