Even if she said there wasn’t much to miss about her birthday, he did feel bad for not getting to see her to tell her happy birthday in person. Although, it’s not like there was much for someone to have missed with his birthday either. Spending your birthday in rehab isn’t anyone’s preferred way to spend a birthday. Maverick sighed as she asked where he had been. The only people that already knew were his dad, Jordan, and unfortunately Daniel. Not even Macy and Maya knew that he had been in rehab. “It’s a long story.” He said, then added slightly quieter, “This just isn’t the place to tell it. But your cousin really helped me out.” It wasn’t a case of not wanting to tell Yara, but he wasn’t going to admit to being in rehab while he was somewhere that everyone else could hear it.
