Graduation was much more so a beginning than an ending for Sadie, she knew she was going to miss everyone, though when Sadie told people she’d stay in touch she meant it. But she knew the end of Senior Year was something she couldn’t be upset about. No, Sadie didn’t have a clear direction for where she was going to go or what she was going to do, but she had enough hope for it to be good. Suddenly having someone she was unexpectedly falling in love with: Sadie’s life had completely changed over the past few months, and now with a surprised Blue Royalty win, it began to seem like it was always going to be that way.
And that it was. From the get-go, Sadie began to pursue the music career she had always thought was only a wild but impossible ambition. Admittedly, the new status of Blue Royalty gave her a head start. But what came with the exhilarating highs of people actually liking her music and buying her album was the extremely dark lows that the music industry and fame inevitably entailed such as overly-friendly music producers and being told that the Jordan Williams actually belonged with someone like Dove Cameron or Lana Condor.
Though opinions from ‘fans’ never affected Sadie and Jordan’s relationship. Maybe Sadie was too optimistic, but all she knew was that she had fallen for Jordan Williams. And had done so very intensely. He so effortlessly became a fundamental part of her life, and she could only see a future with him in it. And who else can say their boyfriend was an insanely talented singer, actor, dancer and Broadway star? Sadie was lucky enough to say so, having a front-row seat at every step along the way.
That stayed true during Jordan’s Broadway premiere in 2023. The front row had been taken up by friends and relatives all coming to support on the big night. Though it certainly wasn’t the first time Sadie had watched him perform, the excitement from her leading up to it never lessened.
But this time, Sadie soon realised, was different to the rest. The performance was not one Jordan had claimed it was before. It didn’t take long for her to recognise the storyline being presented, identifying to the point of almost invasiveness, as it was one she had lived. While her mind filled with questions on how this was even possible, they were all ignored by Sadie’s captivation to the stage - to him. Jordan had turned their story into a fairytale, even more so than he did every minute of the three and a half years.
Just as she had thought nothing could top this, the undying attention Sadie had given Jordan for the past few hours had suddenly become reciprocated. The fourth wall had been officially broken, and suddenly he was stood - well, kneeling- in front of her and it was as if she’d fallen in love all over again. Needless to say there wasn’t a single doubt in her mind. Disbelief, of course, which she made no effort to hide in front of the audience, but nothing too much to delay the easiest ‘yes’ she’d ever said.
The feeling of walking on air never left after that. Call it the ‘honeymoon period’, but how many do you know last seven years? Jordan and Sadie were the exception to that. And it only got better as time went on. Their wedding, and the birth of their two children, that automatically brought a whole new kind of love she didn’t even know she had the capacity for. Honestly, Sadie had won, and she couldn’t be happier.
After a decade away from her former classmates, Sadie was glad to be having a reunion. While she made an effort to stay in contact with everyone, most people were focused on their own lives, which was fair. But today meant she could properly catch up with those she had spoken to less. So, when her and Jordan eventually took separate pathways, Sadie weaved around the group of familiar faces that gave her a sense of nostalgia. Giving a small wave towards Valerie Parker and then Dorian DeLoughrey, two people she was and have attempted to stay close with. However after the several conversations, Sadie had started, she decided to split off and look around the ridiculously luxurious cruise that they were on.
That’s when Sadie approached the closed ballroom that she didn’t realise was the same one with Jezebel and Jordan, but she soon found out that fact when her eyes fell on the window. Though it took her a moment to bring herself to do so, Sadie had to look twice to actually see what was happening.
Having spoken to Jezebel the night of graduation, Sadie knew she had to ask Jordan the question, the insecurity and doubt, that had secretly held her back continuously from putting all into their rapidly growing relationship. The feelings she was beginning to have for him were scaring her, especially since Sadie couldn’t be completely sure it was reciprocated.
Alone with Jordan on the rooftop of Rockefeller Residence, now was as good of a time as any to ask, even if she didn’t really want to ever know the answer. Sadie was giving him a way out, letting him tell her that her feelings weren’t mutual, and instead his were for someone else. It was probably the last time she could find out the answer without being completely heartbroken. If he told her right now, it would be okay - her mind had overthought about it so much, she had basically been expecting that answer - and she could maybe get over it.
“Do you wish it had worked out, and that you were still with Jezebel?”
Everything that Sadie and Jordan had built up over the decade felt like it had begun to unravel, and she was that teenager again. Insecure about the fact that a lifetime of her trying wouldn’t be able to overtake the everlasting history and feelings between him and Jezebel. Maybe those worries had lessened and almost completely vanished over the years, though now they seemed to be justified as it took only a matter of hours for him to completely override their relationship. Guess it is true, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
What do you do when you watch one fleeting moment ruin ten years? Sadie didn’t know, but she had the urge to get away from what she had seen. Maybe if she left it will go away. She wasn’t sure how far she had gotten from it, but her thoughts were interrupted when she soon ran into Riker Taylor. Being caught off guard, Sadie wasn’t given much time to hide the visible distress and heartbreak from him. She realised how much she couldn’t put into words what she had seen when Riker asked. “He…” She started, not even being able to say his name, feeling tears forming as saying it out loud suddenly made it very real. “… kissed Jezebel.”
