DAY 1 - splitting this shii up because it’s so long
Over the last few days - it seemed as if more than one adventure kept… somehow involving Kai. This wasn’t to say she minded it, in all honesty, she didn’t. He was a little stiff - she’d give him that. She couldn’t understand how Yara was describing him as the opposite. Oh well - one layer of the tootsie pop at a time apparently. So as they talked, walking through the path where the greenery separated - one that many had walked before. Though Jessica had never been the one to follow a path made out for her. What was the saying,
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both… - Robert Frost
Well - Jess was never the one to follow the one that was made out for her. So soon, Jess soon stopped - walking off the path and holding onto one of the trees. “Well… I guess it’s really up to you if you dare follow me past this point,” Jess mumbled, winking as she soon started walking through the dense forest. People may think she was crazy. Maybe she was… no she definitely was. But this time around, she knew where she was going. After what seemed like a moment of hesitation, she heard the ruffling of someone following her. “You know, this place is called Minaret Falls for a reason, right? But usually, people go to the main falls which iis further down that way. But…” she started, leading him further through the forest until they reached a clearing. “It’s connected to other falls too,” she finished as they reached a beautiful, rocky waterfall with the bluest water..
“Well, are you just going to stand there and watch? I mean - nothing against that,” Jess smiled - already taking her shirt off and throwing it on a rock as she pulled her pants down - leaving her in her underwear. Without another word, Jessica jumped into the water - swimming a lap before floating on top of the water for a few moments. She hadn’t noticed when Kai had jumped in - but from her serene state - slightly champagne induced and slightly nostalgia induced - she noticed he had stripped down and jumped in with her. A smile met her lips as she stopped floating and faced him - splashing him from afar - “So you’re not all boring?” she joked slightly.
Though that statement did involve the two splashing a bit more - perhaps a little bit of making out in the water but who could blame her. They stayed in there for about forty minutes if she had to guess, though time wasn’t really her concern. In actuality - she often lost track of time just for that reason. “Want to continue this adventure?” she whispered into his ear after a while, her arms around his neck as a smile graced her lips. Perhaps she knew what the insinuation sounded like - but she didn’t mean sex. But for a second - she did make it seem like that, softly placing her lips on his again, moving towards his neck gently, before pulling away teasingly and swimming towards the waterfall. “Remember that trust thing?” Jessica yelled over the loud water. “Might need to do it again,” she yelled before swimming into the waterfall - which usually wasn’t at all a safe thing to do. Though behind this waterfall and the momentary feeling of her head being submerged, she emerged into a small cave behind the waterfall - the light from behind the waterfall filling the cave to fill it up. The cave slowly got less steep - enough that they could walk and there were dry-ish places to sit. But Jess didn’t really wait to see if he followed her because she was already at the dark end, retrieving a small metal box that had been there for eight years… opened again 5 years ago to add to it. Her time capsule… well… her and Dorian DeLoughrey’s. Walking back towards the dry part that was filled with light, she found Kai already standing there.
“Well sit down,” she laughed, taking a seat on the rock herself as she opened up the old thing - first noticing a small black item not inside the ziplock bag that Jess had put everything in to make sure it didn’t get wet. It took her a few seconds before realizing it was her old slide phone she had lost five years ago. Taking the device out she shook her head - mentally berating herself for being an idiot. “I knew I bloody left this thing somewhere,” she laughed after a few seconds. “Don’t you start,” she said after a few seconds, putting the old cellphone on the side before opening the ziplock bag and taking out the polaroid photos, Looking through them as she explained each one to Kai.
“…and this was when I practically jumped a New York spiderman in the middle of the street,” she added, handing him another photo. Though… she stopped when she reached the photos of her and Dorian. Explaining at least - she still looked through them - handing them to Kai. “We used to be best friends,” she muttered after a while - putting the photos aside as she grabbed her other things. There was an envelope next, filled with fifty dollars - but in only ones with the words “for your strip club adventure,” and she laughed. “Hey hey hey - we agreed no judging,” Jess stated - handing the packet to Kai as she grabbed the next thing. This time it was an old friendship bracelet that she and Elo had made as children - the first time she had added to the box 8 years ago.
Next, was a small Patrick plush from Spongebob - eating a Krabby patty. A soft smile on her lips remembering how Dori had won it for her years ago. And finally… well the last of her things… were a closed envelope addressed to future her. The rest of the box was filled with Dorian’s things - ones she didn’t look at… including a letter to his future self. In retrospect, Dorian and here had promised that the senior trip would be when they opened this. But she doubted 1. he would ever come back there with her and 2. he even remembered.
Putting everything except the letter - she signed. “I think… I’m going to read this later,” Jess mumbled before putting it back in the box, sealing the ziplock, and closing the box. “So - how was this trip down memory lane for someone whose memory it wasn’t?” she asked with a soft smile.
The two of them spent maybe another half an hour there, swimming back out and laying on the shore so they could get dry - before putting their clothes on and heading back to the camp site. The moment they did - Jess bid him farewell, put her items in her own tent - including half of the photos of dori and her together… at least the ones she cared about since Dorian would probably trash them. And then snuck the capsule in Dorian’s tent for the man to find.
