Aline Ribeiro
“He has retrograde amnesia.”
The doctor’s words kept rattling around in her head, replaying and replaying as if they would make any more sense if she thought about it more. And it didn’t. Well, she understood the condition, but the fact that he had amnesia, like this was some kind of telenovela… that didn’t make any sense to her.
He couldn’t remember anything from his time at Cerulean High, none of it. Nothing of Lui, of her, of her family… two whole years of his life, gone, just like that. She shouldn’t feel annoyed, she knew that, but it irritated her that she spent the past two days crying over him and he didn’t even remember who she was.
A concussion was one thing, but memory loss—that had the potential to be permanent. God, she had promised to take him out to celebrate his birthday and now, would he even want a stranger there? Would he even want to keep staying at her house now? This whole thing was stressing her the f^ck out.
It was worse for Luciano, she knew. He hadn’t been as verbal with his emotions as she had been, but there was no way he could be taking this better than she was. One did not simply take the news that your boyfriend did not know who you were well. It would’ve been one thing if he didn’t remember getting together with Lui but he didn’t even remember meeting him… It probably didn’t help that it was sort of his fault that they were even in this situation to begin with.
Anyway, so she really felt the need to run away from this whole situation, as it wasn’t like Gio would be going anywhere anyway. And if he didn’t know her, what was the point of staying? She needed to be someplace that was not at his bedside, just for a bit. She wasn’t planning on abandoning him, no, nothing like that, just… she needed to not be there.
So Aline took the packed suitcase out of her closet and presented the idea to her mom, who understood. Or at least thought it was a good idea to get out of town for a little. She tried to get Lui to go with her, but he seemed appalled that she had even suggested it. He was pretty miffed at her for going but, God, she needed a break. Maybe the camping trip would be drama-filled, but at least it would serve as a good distraction from the sh!tshow that was this whole situation.
And so she showed up to the campsite in her mom’s car, a day into the whole thing. She did enjoy living in comfort, but she wasn’t opposed to camping. The idea of camping was kind of odd to her, especially when it was something that rich people did, but she honestly didn’t mind it. It probably wasn’t an activity she’d choose to do, but if it was camping versus being in that stuffy hospital for another day, she’d definitely choose camping.
That was how she was here, gathered around with the other students to play a game of Dare or Drink. Blue Royalty released the Blue Bloods list and Lui was on it, which she was proud of him for accomplishing, as well as Dorian and Jezebel and a couple of other people who she wasn’t really familliar with. She wasn’t too worried about not being on it, as there was still a lot of time left to go before the final list was posted.
Aline watched and laughed at some of the other dares that came around, watching one of her closest friends, Mareena, share a hot kiss with the sex goddess Valerie. She laughed to herself as Mareena returned to her spot, but the laugh faded to a curious expression as Mareena turned a mischievous glance on her. “Give someone a hickey,” Mareena told her. A slow smirk stretched across her face as she scanned the people around her. Her gaze landed on Dorian, and she got up slowly, moving over to where he was.
They never really sorted out whatever the f-ck was with them, but that was one of the last things on her mind these days and she chose him because she wanted to, not because she expected him to like confess his undying love or sh-t like that. Hey, at least if he interpreted it the wrong way, he’d get to feel the confusion she’d felt then.
Now, she hovered in front of him, holding her lips millimetres from his own for a moment. Aline leaned in, pressing her lips against his. She moved her lips to press a gentle kiss against the corner of his lips, leaving a trail of kisses from there down the side of his jaw until she reached the side of his neck. She left a few more fluttery kisses on his neck before beginning to suck on his skin, punctuating every few suckles with a gentle kiss.
After enough time of sucking had passed that would produce a bruise, she leaned back, tracing the ring of skin she’d paid such careful attention to before patting his chest and walking away. Aline sat back in her seat, her gaze falling on the next victim. “Yaraa,” she singsonged with a smile. “I dare you to straddle Daniel for the rest of this game.”
Yara seemed pretty chill with it but Daniel shot her a glare, which she returned with a kiss that she blew his way. She grinned as Yara took her seat on Daniel, watching his expression carefully. Then, with Yara still sitting on him, Valerie came over and kissed him. Then, she told him to take off someone’ shirt with his teeth, the only option being Yara as she was on top of him.
She hadn’t even been here for more than a few hours and she could already tell this trip would be an interesting one.
