Sadie refrained from the sympathetic smile that she knew Reina wouldn’t want from her. Walking the runway would be Reina acting the role of someone she certainly was not, and so Sadie knew it was for the best that she didn’t - she wouldn’t want to see her pretending while up there in front of everyone. “I know…” She replied, softly, wishing circumstances were different for her. But she knew they weren’t, at least for now, and nothing Sadie said next could change that. So she said nothing else.
Turning to face Reina, who was reading out her tasks, she was shocked to hear Dorian’s name in her task. She hadn’t properly spoken to him since the camping trip. If you would even consider that time a conversation. Though after not hearing much from him, Sadie assumed that it was time to rule off the possibility. Which she had seen coming from the number of girls he had lined up. So, why his name was being associated with hers in the Blue Royalty game now, she did not know. Though maybe a small part of her wished that Reina had completed the tasks so she could have found out. “Oh, that’s weird,” She replied with a small laugh.
The fashion show was interrupted by the sprinklers, which took Sadie, and the rest of the hall, by surprise. While Sadie began to join the crowd leaving, she noticed people’s heads turning back to the runway, until it seemed no one was in a rush to get out and they were too busy looking in the same direction. She slowly turned her head, to see a picture projected on the screen, being the sole focus of everyone in the room. Stepping forward, she read what the image entailed, not taking too long to work out what it meant. On instinct, her head turned to the receiver of the cheque, who was visibly distressed while in a conversation with the second person connected to the reveal. Though she was growingly concerned, she turned and left, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to talk to him.
As Sadie stepped outside, her eyes stopped on a friend of hers sitting in her car. There was no way she could ignore the sadness in Valerie’s face, and she tried to catch her eye before rushing over to the window of the car, tapping gently on the glass. “Valerie, what happened?” Sadie asked, concerned, immediately after the car was unlocked. Before she answered Sadie added, “No, you don’t have to tell me, but if you want to talk about it… I’m here.”
