Maverick Weston

The later part of the party was a blur. Maverick couldn’t even remember how he had made it home that night. However it happened, the party and his first tasks at becoming Blue Royalty were complete. When the first day of school finally rolled around, Maverick had nearly forgotten about the list. However the shrill pitch of screaming teenage girls alerted Maverick that the first list was up. The excitement of his sisters was clear, as Maverick opened his phone to see that he was one of the first seniors on the list of Blue Bloods for the year. Unfortunately, now that Macy and Maya were freshmen, it meant that Maverick would have to drive them to school more often, even the first day of senior year. Exhausted, partly from the excited 14 year olds in the back seat of the car, Maverick drove his sisters to school, saying goodbye to them before leaving them to fend for themselves for their first day of high school. Maverick walked to his locker, limping slightly, with a sigh. Even though his name was on the first list, Maverick was still primarily disinterested in the whole competition, he was just looking forward to playing soccer again even if it hurt. As Maverick opened his locker he looked to the guy a couple lockers over. Maverick looked him over, and watched what he was doing, before quickly looking back in his own locker. “That’s a lot of stuff for one locker, even for the first day.”

“That’s a lot of stuff for one locker, even for the first day.” Lyonrad halted when someone apparently took notice of him, his hand in action to close the locker door. He just finished almost emptying is bag, leaving only what he thinks is necessary. His bag was lighter, even more lighter than a leaf—it felt empty, even. He looked at the guy—his face was familiar. Lyonrad’s lips parted in recognition of him.

After he closed his bag and his locker, he faced the student who was watching him. His hand holding onto the strap of the bag, he shifted his eyes from the guy’s head to his feet and back to his face. If he wasn’t mistaken, this was Maverick Weston, one of the faces who was lucky to make it to the first list of Blue Bloods. Lyonrad began thinking of what he must’ve done to take the spot, sooner shrugging it off. Well, anyway, I’m making sure I’ll take your spot, he thought instead.

Giving a smile, he lifted his shoulders. “That’s what happens when you let your mother prepare for you,” he said. “Aren’t you one of the Blue Bloods?”

@Littlefeets - No, it’s fine, and it’s good, really! : D

Dominic paused to think about the students at the school. He knew that he wasn’t the most popular guy in the school, but he knew enough about the people here to make some form of judgement about them. “Generally speaking, the students are alright. Some are a little more…how should I say it, uptight, but they know how to have a good time. Everyone’s pretty attractive too.” He commented, crossing his arms.

“It’s pretty competitive. I’ve seen firsthand how being a Blue Royalty can change your life. Each of the students in the competition has some personal stake in it, and they’ll do whatever they can to ensure that they end up on top.” He told him with a small shrug.

He listened to Calen’s question about teams and nodded. “Yeah. I’m on the soccer team. I think you’ll make a great addition to the team.” He answered, smiling. “I also occasionally help make sets for the drama club since I’m in the art class.” He added.

“That sounds reassuring; I would love to see him, then,”

Candice nodded at the sentiment with a slight smile. Personally, she hadn’t utilized Daniel’s services much besides the basic fake ID, and run of the mill issue she needed help with throughout the 5+ years she had known the man. Part of the reason why was the fact that was she didn’t like the man’s policy of an “eye for an eye” - in other words, requesting favors rather than monetary currency. It was probably also for this reason why that Candice Clarke was one of the only students left in school that didn’t owe Daniel any of his famous “IOUs.”

“Hey… I do want to warn you. Daniel is absolutely amazing and probably one of the best hackers I know. But… when you talk to him, do with a grain of salt. He doesn’t take the normal cash for product… he takes favors, information, and IOUs as payment… do with that information as you will. I can still introduce you - I just wanted to make sure you protect yourself.”

After adding in her two cents about Daniel - Candice listened about Tala’s living arrangements, nodding as the girl added “thanks for the offer.” It was only when her friend added that she was ‘one call away’ that laughter escaped her lips. “Well, Tala, the offer is always open - mi casa es us casa. And I honestly appreciate it. I definitely will be calling you up - after all, you’re in my city and It’s kind of a requirement for me to show you around now,” Candice grinned, playfully nudging the girl. “How about this - after school, let me take you out for some dinner. I’m thinking street tacos, music, maybe crashing a wedding and destroying the dance floor should make for a good reunion story. Or I guess we can also go to that new Italian place that opened up on west blvd - your choice,” Candice smiled - slightly needing a get away with her friend, especially after that Delilah incident.

He nodded in agreement at the words he used to describe the types of students at Cerulean High. Calen had met a few uptight, he could see easily that people would put others down to bring them up - to the Blue Bloods. Which, he would probably also be willing to do if necessary. And he could certainly agree with the fact that everyone was attractive, some definitely more than others. Romance was something that even Blue Royalty couldn’t stop him from getting involved in, and Calen was likely to prove that as the year advanced.

As he was talking, Dominic mentioned that he had seen ‘firsthand’ which caught his attention. Without thinking and trying to make sense, he asked instantly: “Do you know anyone?” After pausing for a beat to realise he hadn’t explained himself properly, Calen continued to clarify. “I mean- do you know anyone that’s Blue Royalty?” If Dominic was to say yes, Calen knew that he would have to have him as a close friend. Anyone with friends in high places was a friend to him.

Dominic said how Calen would make a great addition to the team, which certainly fluffed his ego and he smiled back at him. “Yeah, probably,” He agreed, shrugging. Perhaps that meant the guys on the soccer team were similar to him, and he would be able to fit in, which was the perfect news for Calen. “Oh, art?” He asked, now pretending to care about Dominic’s interests. “Are you any good? At art?” Calen continued, prepared to space out when he went to answer that.

Dominic nodded, confirming that he knew someone who was a Blue Royalty. “My mother.” He answered, cutting to the chase and trying to ensure that his feelings towards her didn’t come out in his voice. “She was a student here and managed to secure a spot among the Blue Bloods.” He explained, shrugging. “That’s the main reason why I’m in this competition to begin with. She wants me to follow in her footsteps.”

He heard Calen ask if he was any good at art. “I like to think so.” He answered, not wanting to bore him with the intricacies of the subjectivity of art and the fact that whether or not he thought he was good at art was dependent on a whole number of different things. “Did you play soccer at your old school?” He asked, wanting to turn the conversation towards a common interest.

Her statement didn’t faze him at all. She didn’t even have to say it because it was something a lot of people probably realised by now but he liked that. In a way he was like that too, or he tried to be like that if you don’t count the family and close friends. “Sometimes that’s good,” he coldly commented, shrugging his shoulders, “so I’m not judging.” With a sarcastic smile but a soft expression on his face, he added. He wasn’t always like that. He did grew up kind of believing that you don’t need anyone to be successful in life since no one really payed attention to him. After all, he never got as much attention as his siblings did. But you’d never think he was like that, he did have a girlfriend for some time but things didn’t end… peacefully. And it wasn’t her fault, it wasn’t anyones fault but his own and at the end of the day he didn’t.. care.

“I didn’t know you want that,” chuckling to himself, he crossed his arms and subtly looked her up and down saying it in a same fake excited tone. Slowly walking back to where she was standing as he looked thought the huge window in that hallway, he slightly smirked. “I’m sorry to disappoint you but you’ll find someone to replace me, I’m not worried about that.” Gently placing his hand on her arm he jokingly pouted, shifting his gaze back to her. “Or we can work something out? All you have to do is take a step back from this game for a little bit, huh?”

Zion walked into the school, pulling their hair up into a bun to get it off their face. They pushed the door open with their shoulder and went straight to their locker. Once there, they emptied out their backpack, only holding on to the books they needed for their first classes.

Closing their locker, they walked through the hallway, observing their fellow classmates as they travelled. Halfway down the hall from their locker they bumped into a girl. “Oh, sorry.” They apologized, hoping she wasn’t offended by them bumping into her.

Valerie walked through the school halls, she wasn’t headed anywhere specific but she still heads in the same direction as when she started walking.
She was wearing her AirPods in her ears listening to some music while she walked, not really making an effort of interacting with anyone.
Someone kind of bumped into her, which slightly shook her from her thoughts and got her to focus back on the real world a bit
oh, sorry
“It’s okay” she smiled lightly and looked at the other person, she did recognize the face but she also didn’t know the person, “Are you in my class?” She asked slightly unsure, but she did feel like she recognized them

His eyebrows jolted up in surprise when Dominic revealed how he was related to a Blue Royalty. Calen was shocked, he didn’t peg Dominic as the type to have Blue Royalty in his blood. He was unsure, and worried, about whether or not it would give him the edge in the competition. But, Calen didn’t see Dominic’s name in the list of Blue Bloods… therefore, so far, it didn’t. Though it didn’t give him an edge, for now, it did give him more motivation. Motivation to hold the family title, but also, as Dominic had said, being pushed by his mother at home to get to the top. “Oh, right, so is Blue Royalty… quite important to you?” He wondered. Maybe Dominic was competition to him.

Calen was glad when Dominic only briefly spoke about his art, even during his few words Calen was looking back and smiling at the many people glancing in his direction, though he still managed to look interested by smiling and nodding when he looked back at him. “That’s really cool,” Calen exclaimed. Thankfully, instead of continuing the art conversation, Dominic changed back to soccer, asking if he played at his old school. “Yeah, I used to play a lot,” Calen replied, completely lying. “What about you, do you play it?”

Of course her comment had no effect on Dorian. Delilah had made it plainly obvious from day one, freshman year, that she had no regard for practically anyone she crossed paths with, and it had always been a known fact. Though there were some that thought otherwise when they spoke with her, Delilah was more than happy to give less than subtle hints to remind them… sometimes, but sometimes it was fun to play around with them first. Dorian told her it was good, and that he wasn’t judging. “As if I would really care if you were judging?” She thought out loud with one brow raised.

“Well, let me assure you, I truly do want that,” Delilah replied to him, nodding convincingly. She took a step forward as Dorian moved next to her. “I’m pretty sure it won’t be much of a challenge replacing you,” Delilah remarked with a smile, patting the hand he had placed. Looking around, especially at the freshman guys who had been checking her out the whole time they had been talking.

She almost laughed out loud when Dorian suggested her taking a step back from the game. “Wow, you really are a funny guy… even if perhaps unintentionally,” Delilah stated, with a laughing smile, somehow making even that sound like an insult. “I know that you know that me pulling out of the competition might actually give you somewhat of a chance…” She started, referring to the fact that he didn’t make it onto the Blue Bloods, placing a hand on his shoulder. “But it’s never going to happen, Dorian.”

Maverick looked at the guy who had turned towards him, noting how he was looking him over intently. Something that made Maverick just slightly uncomfortable. Although, Maverick knew it was likely due to being one of the first Blue Bloods of the year, which was beyond the level of attention Maverick was used to or even liked. He did receive extra attention from being one of the better players on the team, at least prior to getting hurt in the last game of the previous season. Maverick was never one for the spotlight, but he felt like he had no other choice but to try to become Blue Royalty at the end of the year. “Eh, you got it better than my sisters who had me preparing them for school. They were lucky to even have their bags.” Maverick had for the most part been the one getting his sisters ready for school since their mom died, since she always made sure they were all ready, but the first few days of school, it was a miracle that they got out the door with everything they needed for certain. Then finally came the topic of the Blue Bloods. Maverick nodded as he shifted his weight off of his sore leg. “Yeah I am. If things go how I hope, I plan to keep it that way. I made it through that party and it paid off.”

Tala’s forehead creased at Candice’s warning. Hearing that the boy did not accept money as payment gave her a slight relief, but it triggered her small nervousness upon hearing what he wanted instead. Well, being in Cerulean High, it does make sense that he did not need money in exchange. She was sure she might get either a favor or an IOU, because she definitely doesn’t have any information on someone. Well… maybe she has, but she did not want to, anyway. Though, she wondered what he uses the information for, somehow doubting that it must be connected to the Blue Royalty. That’s intense.

Tala chuckled along with Candice laughing at her harmless joke. Meeting her bosom friend may just be the best beginning for her in Cerulean High. While she could predict the rocky path of becoming a Blue Blood, she was relieved to know that someone got her back.

Mi casa es su casa. Tala smiled. She always admired Candice for her generosity, and it’s just one of the reasons why she branded the girl as one of the best friends she has. She was ever grateful to even have the chance to meet her.

“I will definitely be calling you up - after all, you’re in my city and it’s kind of a requirement for me to show around now.” Tala laughed as Candice nudged her playfully. A smile of excitement formed from her lips as Candice shared her plans for her upcoming “tour,” laughing at her mention of crashing a wedding.

“Or maybe we can do all of them, but I am so excited to crash a wedding.” she laughed again, denoting the fact that she was interested in eating in an event where she wasn’t even invited.

“Eh, you got it better than my sisters who had me preparing them for school. They were lucky to even have their bag.”

It was either this guy had parents whose attentions are away from them, or maybe they don’t exist, but Lyonrad immediately thought of two words: poor guy. He isn’t really one to be empathetic, and he definitely isn’t one to relate to this guy since he always had his mother by his side, but he assumed it was hard to be the one responsible for his sisters.

“I would like to switch with them then,” he said, hoping to vibe in with Maverick. He looked forward to be friends with him, which hopefully is gonna happen. He knows it is of necessity that he gets this man by his side so that he could climb up to the ladder as well.

Hearing Maverick Weston’s answer to him was slightly displeasing, though it wasn’t the answer he least expected. One joined the Blue Royalty for some reasons, and surely no one would tell him that it’s not what they want. Lyonrad gave him a nod. “Good luck, then.” he said, hinting a faint contempt in his voice.

Thursday 8:00 am, 17th December, Cerulean High

The corridors of Cerulean High had been transformed into an idyllic Winter Wonderland scene, ready for the students to enter with a festive spirit. Of course, Christmas is a time for, somewhat optionally, giving gifts to family, friends and lovers, but there was one gift that was compulsory to be sending. Before arriving, they would receive back-to-back texts from Cerulean High and Blue Royalty on the Secret Santa that was happening.

Tomorrow, the students would receive the gifts they were sent by each other.

As per usual, she awoke quickly at the sound of her alarm clock. Sadie had to look immaculate for a place like Cerulean High, as she knew that people want to be friends with people who look good. However, immaculacy took time, hence why she was up bright and early at the premature time of 5:30a.m. Of course, she had to wear something fitting for the festive time of the year. While getting ready, Sadie frequently paused to reply to messages and comment on a few more of everyone’s posts. After the 14th time of picking up her phone, this time she had received messages from two new numbers.

The first message was one Sadie was expecting, and one she was excited for - she loved Secret Santa. The school had told her the randomly selected student she had, and Sadie smiled. She knew of him from social media, and she was pretty sure they had become friends, so it was perfect to her that she had an excuse to get him something.

Though shortly after that message was one Sadie didn’t expect as much. Blue Royalty. Obviously Sadie had heard of this competition - who hadn’t? Although she knew Reina was rather indifferent to the competition, she had planned to at least try to get a place on Blue Royalty, as she knew that the lottery money may not last forever. For now, it seemed to Sadie she may have a chance, as this task seemed relatively easy… nice, even. But she had been worried that it may get in the way of her trying to form friendships, which she didn’t like.

Her and Reina left the house quite promptly and walked to school - since the rest of her family members could not drive them due to the fact that they had all left for their various works. An excited gasp came from Sadie as she entered the Cerulean High building that had been decorated for the occasion - Sadie loved Christmas. As she advanced down the corridor of the school, Sadie looked and smiled at everyone who walked past, making comments to as many people as possible.

“I love your outfit!”

“Hey, Valerie!”

“Did you get a haircut? It looks amazing!”

“Merry Christmas!”

She finally stopped in her tracks when she reached her locker, to which Sadie could see someone else standing a short distance away, minding their own business. “Dorian!” Sadie called, quickly, knowing him from a few messages they had exchanged online. “It is Dorian, right?” She added on, hoping she hadn’t messed up his name. Them Sadie continued to say every possible conversation opening, “Hey! How are you? Merry Christmas!”

Confusion. That was the only thing he felt when he read his text and saw what he had to give to Calen. He could use those points, he was behind but why would he do that. The whole ride to the school he stayed quiet not paying attention to anything and especially not Elodie. Why would he send screenshots of his fathers conversation to him, or anyone for that matter? He stayed quiet about that for a long time trying to protect his family, trying not to ruin anything. This was a big decision; risk people finding out, Elodie finding out or just throwing away his spot. Did this text ruin his whole mood and Christmas? It surely did.

With his airpods in he tightly held onto his backpack with both hands not even bothering to say bye to his sister as he rushed to enter the school. Usually decorations didn’t bother him, he never payed much attention to them when he was in school, he had better things to do but now it was just making him more and more annoyed, reminding him of what was happening. Ignoring everyone around him, every Merry Christmas and hello he went straight to his locker opening it as he tried to remain as calm as possible. Which wasn’t really working.

The moment he closed his locker and glanced to the side he noticed a girl coming his way, looking way too happy for his liking at this moment. “Merry Christmas…” he replied looking just a bit confused as he took out his airpods. He had no idea who she was but then he didn’t even try to think about that, he wasn’t looking for a conversation or company. “Do I know you?” Furrowing his brows, he asked not trying to make it sound polite but not wanting to cause himself more trouble he leaned against the locker forcing a smile. “Pretty dress.”

It’s not yet the exact cold season, but every day that got close to it made Tala want nothing more but to just succumb to the comfort of her bed. Needless to say, she can’t, or else she’ll lose the reason why she’s here. Forcing herself to stand up, she lazily walked to the shower and bathed in warm water.

She dressed herself in black long-sleeves and covered it with a thick hoodie. A happy grin crossed her smile as she combed her short hair with her fingers—she just cut it yesterday herself, and she was rather happy at how it turned out. Satisfied of her appearance, she went downstairs for a hot meal. As she did, she checked out her phone when it ringed; as she had guessed—it was from Cerulean High and the “Secret Santa.”

Maverick Weston. The name didn’t ring a bell to her, but whoever it was, she will make sure to give him what must be given to him. She read the second message, and immediately wrinkled her nose. “What?” she questioned, raising a brow as she stared at the text for moments. Why would I—oh, wait.

Her lips curled into a smile when an idea suddenly popped up into her mind. Perfume! her mind exclaimed, but her smile immediately faded into a frown when she realized how expensive a perfume can be. She did not want to spend too much on a gift for a stranger, but she still wanted to make it so that it lasted at least a couple of days. It’s Christmas, anyway. It wouldn’t hurt.

Shrugging off the thoughts, she grabbed her things and rode off to Cerulean High.

She was fascinated by the decorations done with the building. Her family were lovers of Christmas, and the hype was definitely passed down to her. She remembered how early their Christmas Tree would be built, and she laughed at the thought of it. Usually—they would be the first ones to light it up in their city, and they were famous for it. Chortling, she hurriedly entered the school.

Just as she reached her locker, she noticed someone that definitely made her smile. Leaving her locker just to talk to the man, she walked up to him and called his attention by hitting his arm lightly. She chuckled, “Hey!” Through the months of her time in Cerulean High, she’d always see Mikel Lucas around; however, she never really got the chance to talk to him for some reason.

Christmas has always been Elodie’s favourite holiday and winter her favourite season. There was nothing like that cheerful spirit and family gatherings with gift exchanges. Every year she would make sure to spread that happiness not only at home but at school and get little gifts for her friends. This year was different in a way, she could still do that but because of the Blue Royalty and Secret Santa she got to get one special gift for someone. It made her excited until she saw what she had to do. A threatening gift? What does that even mean?
That was not really her cup of tea. She didn’t really know how to be… threatening or mean? Especially to one of her very good friends. Thoughts of ignoring that message did cross her mind but it only meant she wouldn’t get any points and that’s not what she wanted to do.

Getting dressed and grabbing a red coat, trying to keep that Christmas spirit she rushed out to the car, not wanting to keep Dorian waiting. He wasn’t the one that cared about holidays but today he seemed a bit off which was unusual. Growing up with someone, being their twin, you’d know when something isn’t right and she could see that but no matter how much she tried to figure out what happened he kept quiet. Even when they arrived he didn’t say anything but he just left, leaving her standing next to his car as confused as one could be.

Sadie couldn’t help but notice the confusion that he had clearly felt from her sudden approaching, but she had to brush it off - something she had learned and mastered how to do, since calling someone up on something like that never ended well… and that’s not great when she is trying to make friends. Sadie knew that Dorian probably had hundreds of other people talking to him online, she had specifically remembered that he, like most Cerulean High seniors, had thousands of followers on social media. So of course, he wasn’t going to remember all of them.

“Oh, I’m Sadie,” She announced, seemingly unbothered by his uncertainty of who she was. “I think we spoke a bit online!” Sadie added, knowing they had spoken online. “Oh, was I right… with Dorian?” She quickly asked, slightly worried, noticing that he hadn’t confirmed that was his name.

He looked down at her, and the only thing in Sadie’s mind was the wonder of what he thought about her. Dorian gave a hint into the answer of that question when he commented on her outfit. She gave a subtle and small sigh of relief and smiled, gratefully, not trying to look into whether or not it was a geniune approval. “Thank you so much, I really like your outfit, too!” Sadie replied, always making sure to return any compliment thrown her way. Then she looked around, trying to think of a way to continue the conversation. “So do you like Christmas and-” She gestured at the decorated corridor, “-all of this?”

Christmas, Lyonrad stared at the building of Cerulean High, eyeing each and every decoration that was placed to fit the season of the year. He wasn’t really the biggest fan of Christmas, but he isn’t a hater of it as well. In fact, he just respects it for the sake of tradition. But he does look forward to the fun that can happen during this holiday.

His attention was brought back when a few students who passed by him greeted him an early “Merry Christmas.” He nodded at them, flashing a smile as he joined the small crowd into the entrance. He felt like a celebrity with all of them recognizing him, though some of them only greeted him because he’s a senior that should be respected.

Hearing an arrival of a car, he turned his head to see who it was. He stopped on his tracks as he saw Delilah, slipping a hand to his pants pocket. He had worn the typical Lyonrad style, a shirt and black pants. Wearing a smug smile on his face, he watched as Delilah got near him.

“Well, well, well. I’m seriously regretting why we had to break up.” he said and winked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
