The brisk winter air brought a slight shiver down Candice’s spine as she clutched to the grey oversized sweater she was wearing for momentary warmth - soon followed with a sip of the warm cinnamon hot chocolate she had ordered moments earlier - allowing the warmth of the drink to fill her body. Though it was cold, Candice had opted to sit outside on the patio of the coffee shop she went to every morning. She found that there was something about the cold weather that always allowed her to think clearly… even… breathe easier. There was a freedom about the winter months that Candice couldn’t necessarily explain - though that was probably why it was her favorite season.
As she continued to sip on her drink, Candice went back to the drawing she was working on - her second favorite pastime after photography. And, in all honesty, Candice really needed to clear her mind… especially as Blue Royalty tasks were being released later that day. That fact mixed in with the ultimatum Delilah had offered… not to mention her mother’s text about getting on that list “or else” was starting to weigh down on Candice. All she needed to do was complete this task - Candice doubted it would be enough to push her on the list and it would get her mom off her back for the time being as well… win/win… right? Delilah wouldn’t release the photos she took and Candice’s mom wouldn’t do what she had threatened if Candice didn’t take this competition seriously.
It was with this thought in mind that Candice briskly finished her drink and picked up the dozen pastries she had ordered from the shop before driving to school - making sure to post her “Christmas” campaign shoot that her mom had gotten for Candice with Lancôme Beauty on her Instagram page. For the next few weeks - Candice was, and I sh!t you not, required to do a Christmas post every day - with the last one revealing she was the new “spokesperson” for Lancôme. Though - all in all, Candice didn’t necessarily mind it - modeling made her mother happy so Candice did what she could.
Reaching school premises, Candice immediately stopped by the front office to drop off the pastries - a tradition she had made for herself every Winter Season since Freshman year - and begin walking towards her locker. Giving passing smiles, ‘Hey’s’, and ‘Happy Holidays’ to almost everyone around her, Candice only stopped when she felt the buzz of her phone - indicating her tasks for this Holiday season were ready. Taking a glance at her phone as she continued walking, Candice could feel her eyes widening at the name… as well as the suggested gift.
She could feel her heart dropping at the words, though, she didn’t really have time to think about it when she felt herself physically running into someone in front of her (In all honesty, she shouldn’t have been on her phone and walking at the same time). Candice felt her losing a solid grasp of her phone - which fell to her feet along with the man’s things as well. “F*ck, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t paying attention where I was going,” Candice revealed - crouching down to help him pick his things up.
It was only when she had gathered the items and was handing it to the man when shock befell her features. “You… what the h*ll are you doing here?” Instantaneous dread filled her body when she saw the man’s face - her mind flickering towards a long-forgotten memory of last summer where she woke up next to him after a drunken stupor - resulting in a ‘walk of shame.’
Looking around to make sure no one was watching her, Candice grabbed her phone and pulled the man into a supply closet discreetly - closing the door behind her. “Okay… sh!t… f*cking sh!t. This isn’t happening…I don’t know what you’re doing here… but you and I didn’t happen. Please… don’t tell anyone that I slept with you… Uh… Sebastion? Kyle? I’m sorry… what’s your name again?” Candice whispered in the small, dark room - an attempt to make sure she nipped this in the bud.
