He knew his words were hurtful, but honestly, this girl needed to know the truth. Her mind was so focused on herself; Jordan or Mikel, Jordan or fcking Mikel that she didn’t realize she was breaking both of those hearts. She was one of those. A girl who believed she deserved the best but only ended up hurting everyone around her. It was true that Jordan had changed since he came back - and it wasn’t in a good way. Drinking, getting into fights - it was two things that Jordan had promised Riker he’d never do. It’s something that Riker saw with his own eyes that he’d never do. The fighting and alcohol relating to parts of Jordan’s life that he didn’t want to go back to. So why did this girl think she was so high and mighty that if he did it for her - it made it okay?

So perhaps he brought up the diary. It was something he had come across while looking for something to keep her away from Jordan. Jordan Williams himself would never admit he was better off without Jezebel and he would only keep hurting himself. So Riker did what he needed to in an effort to find dirt on Jezebel. And he did; the abortion. Something that Jordan would never condone - mentioning various times how he’d love to be a father.

He looked away as she started to cry; telling him that he won. It wasn’t winning, it was never about winning - it was about protecting the ones he cared about. Jordan… his family. Not by blood, but a family nonetheless. “good,” Riker stated; starting the elevator again as she promised to stay away from the man. Though before the elevator opened - Riker said one last thing. One last thing that he truly believed. “I hope your baby doesn’t turn out like you… for its sake,” with that - Riker left as the elevator opened; leaving the girl in there.

Right here, right now, for the first time in her life, Valerie Wood had fallen so in love with someone, and actually let herself admit it. She didn’t think before she did it, she didn’t go ’what if he doesn’t love me back’, because honestly, hearing the words ’I love you too’ was probably one of the things she least expected to hear, and either way, she chose to tell him how she felt, because that was in fact the only answer to his question. There was no other explanation for why she cared or why she even kept trying… it was because she loved him, as simple as that, she really bloody loved him.

But this day seemed to be full of surprises, and along with the statement of her being a the most frustrating woman in the world, which she couldn’t really argue with, Valerie’s heart stopped to the sound of his next words. She looked at him, in utter shock, trying to figure out if he really meant it or not when he told her the four words she never expected to hear but made her feel probably happier than she ever has before. ”I love you too”

But her racing mind was soon cut by the touch of his lips on her own. And with her heart beating steady, slow, but stronger than an earthquake, Valerie felt safe and calm, she felt… happy, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling herself up and closer to the boy in front of her.

And there they were, ironically in pretty much the same setting as they were when their story started, two lost souls in a closed elevator that had nowhere to rush, and neither did they. Because as she felt his hands on her cheeks and the touch of his lips on her own, the words coming out of his mouth, Valerie didn’t want to be anywhere else but right there, right now, in that very moment, with the man she loved.

“I’ve told you before that I’m not all boring. I know how to have fun.” Kai nodded slightly at her mention of how she met Akielah. “The number of times we almost met is insane, but meeting you in the bathroom that way was quite the impression. It was something I’m not going to forget.” Soon enough, they finished their food, and first went to the lingerie store, before ending up at a carnival. It may have been stupid rigged games to lose, but it made for a good day. A good day spent with Jess, and Kai being himself, which is something he wasn’t around most people, actually made for a good birthday.
Eventually, the pair returned to Kai’s place, though before walking in the door Jess stopped him. First, she apologized for something she knew was going to happen, beginning to ramble like she often did. Then came words that Kai didn’t get the chance to react to, her saying that she loved him. “Jess.. I.. I need to tell you something..” he started as she grabbed his hand, taking him inside to where there was a surprise party, London themed of course, set up for him. He wasn’t someone who wanted a birthday party, let alone a surprise party, but he appreciated the thought behind it. “Thanks Jess..” There was stuff that he needed to tell her, but he couldn’t exactly tell her with everyone right there.

For a short moment that seemed to last forever in slow motion, Sadie froze. She watched as the people who were sat seemingly uninvolved in this stood up and began to group together, though Sadie couldn’t look for too long, as she soon lost balance, falling back to the ground. Simultaneously Jordan knelt down onto the ground to be beside her. Though overwhelming pain consumed her body, Sadie knew that it would have been nothing compared to what she would have felt if it were to have been the other way around, as it could have very easily been that way.

Though her and Jordan were surrounded by the loud noise of police cars, Red being chased and arrested, and ambulance arriving, it was all silenced out by his voice. Sadie could only give a weak smile and nod as he told her she was going to be okay. But she was okay, she was okay with this being the outcome of the situation, instead of Jordan taking the hit and being alone. So when he apologised, Sadie took his hand. “Hey,” Sadie finally said. “It’s okay,” She quietly said genuinely, because it was and he had to know that. She tried to listen as he told her to keep her eyes open, and she did for a while. “I’m- I’m sorry,” She said as eventually that became almost impossible while the ambulance pulled over and started advancing towards them.

Intoxicating. Her body, the way she felt against him, everything bloody about her was fcking intoxicating. He couldn’t stop himself from getting lost in her. Lost against her. The words of I love you echoing in his mind as he lost the one thing he would never lose with anyone else; control. He couldn’t, honestly, control himself. His body was moving without his mind. Rather; it was following his heart… one that she controlled.

Moving his lips from her own, to her neck while allowing his hands to roam her body; he groaned. “I fcking love you so much,” he mumbled against her skin. He didn’t want to let her go. Something inside of him wouldn’t let her. For years; Daniel Parker had felt alone. He could be surrounded by people but he never really felt… whole. But wrapping his arms around her he finally felt that one thing he was missing for so long. Love. Two unlovable people coming together. Finding love in their heart for one another. And she did; she had his whole heart. And hopefully she would be careful with it; cracks and all.

As they walked into the room; Jess heard him start to say something though she couldn’t hear him over the ”SURPRISE” That people screamed when the two of them walked in. She could see the subtle discomfort in his body - she knew him well enough at this point to read him. And a soft sigh left her lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck and placed another kiss on his lips - hearing him utter ”Thanks Jess…”

After the kiss she moved her lips to his ears; “I’m sorry love…play nice and I promise we can try on some of that lingerie we bought tonight,” she mumbled; placing a kiss on his cheek before walking towards his bedroom where Valerie had brought her a dress. Though Valerie must have vastly underestimate Jessica’s boob-age since her chest area was vastly underwhelming in the dress but oh well. What you do for the ones you care about.

And that’s what she did; after getting ready - the girl made her way to the party and conversed; smiling at the decorations as Val had done an outstanding job. A quick chat with Marshmello who was DJing and a few other individuals; Jess looked around though found that the man of the hour was nowhere to be found. A soft sigh left her lips and she grabbed two drinks; walking around to look for him. She smiled as she found him standing outside on the Terrance; the area being empty due to the cold air that had set in. “Drink?” Jess asked; enjoying the serenity that the two had found themselves in as she walked towards him, handing him the dark liquid she had Chris concoct - it being the first time she had seen him in about an hour. “How’s it going love - how are you feeling about London now?” She questioned, wrapping her hands around his back as she laid her head on him. “I know you didn’t want a party; but look on the bright side. There’s a photo booth in there and I’m dying to go inside and do various questionable acts that should not be done in a photo booth,” Jess laughed. Though despite the joking tone; she could sense something was wrong.

“Hey… I’m really sorry… I just wanted to show you the bright side of your birthday with people you love,” she grinned… “and I.. love you,” she whispered for the second time.

“I fcking love you so much,”

So did she, so fcuking much. Daniel Parker has as if put a spell on her, she was intoxicated, magnetised and entranced by this brown eyed boy and his body glued to her own.
The chemistry between these two was incredible, fcuking perfect I’m so many ways, making her wonder where that had been all these years.
Valerie still believed he could do better, honestly, but she didn’t want him to. She wanted him there, with her, never wanting to let go. She wanted his touch on her skin and his hands all over her body, the sound of his breath and his voice when he spoke, she just wanted him, with whatever came with it.

Technically, it wouldn’t be wrong to say she got what she wanted, though it wasn’t just that. It was a lot deeper than that, but definitely a good perk.
”Did you ever notice how ironic it is that we keep ending up in elevators?” she asked, a small smile on her lips as her fingers softly moved around in lines and circles along his chest ”I think we should get this elevator obsession tested” she added with a light chuckle ”Not that I’m complaining”

Kai smiled slightly at the kiss and Jess’s promise she made before going to change. At that point, Kai mingled with some of those who were there. Making his way through conversations, just as he would at any event, like he always did. Small talk may not always make the most memorable of interactions, but it was a skill of great use for a social event, particularly when you don’t necessarily want to be there. Though, Kai eventually found himself escaping for a moment, outside alone until Jess showed up. He smiled at her, taking the drink she passed him. “I still prefer New York, but London has it’s perks.” Kai did prefer New York, because New York would always be his home, but he did like London, and It’s where his cousin, and Jess were both from. He didn’t have any reason to dislike London. A slight smirk developed on his face at her comment about doing things in a photo booth that should not be done in a photo booth, though that didn’t change what was going to happen. He had to tell her everything. He had his arms around her, holding her close. “This party may not have been my choice, but the rest of today was great. My birthday just never feels like it should be my day, it’s my sister’s day.” That was one problem with having a twin, your birthday isn’t just your own, and Kai’s birthday always was Elettra’s day. Even with everything she had done, trying to kill him on their birthday, it was still her birthday just as much as it was his. Kai leaned in and kissed Jess after she said ‘I love you’ for the second time. “I love you too Jess.” Kai paused with a breath. He loved her, and because he loved her, he couldn’t hide everything from her anymore. “I love you Jess. Which is why I need to tell you the truth… about why I’m really here…”

Paralyzing. The fear that filled his entire body was debilitating. Nothing else mattered to him. Not the cops, not the sounds of the ambulance, not the curses Red was sending his way. The only thing that mattered was Sadie Monroe. A girl who was currently sprawled on the floor; her eyes begging to close. This was never supposed to be her. She wasn’t supposed to be here. Jordan watched the blood pooling around Sadie’s body and he tried to keep calm. Keep pressure on the wound… it would all be okay. It had to be okay. If there was one person who didn’t deserve this; it was Sadie Monroe. And what hurt, even more, was when she started saying “It’s okay,” but in all honesty, it wasn’t. Jordan Williams would never forgive himself for this.

"Hey hey no, Keep your eyes open, keep your mind working, "Jordan muttered, his voice cracking slightly as a tear went down his eyes. He kept one hand on her wound while the other cupped her cheek. “Just… focus your mind on listening okay. I’ll talk… or…” he didn’t have the right words. What was he supposed to say to keep her mind engaged? So he did the only thing he could. He started singing.

…How your hands are too small for what they’ve been carrying
How many words have I wrote down without saying it
If I knew how to hold you I would

There was clear emotion in his voice as he continued with the song, holding her tighter when he sang the words, If I knew how to hold you I would. He didn’t know why this song came to mind; but he just… didn’t want to lose Sadie. Not to this… not fcking today.

“If I knew how to hold you I would”
“Sure deliverance
Lives through heartache
What a difference your new start made
Will you open up your windows
I could hold you now
Your deliverance
For a namesake
What a difference that a day made
Will you open all your windows
I could hold you now”

As he finished the song he found Sadie’s eyes closing - the words “I’m sorry” leaving her lips as the paramedics came into the situation - moving Jordan aside and pulling her onto the gurney. Many of them shouting different things; putting needles into Sadie’s arm as blood dripped from an overhand bag… likely accommodating for the loss of blood. He watched as they loaded her into the ambulance; and pushed through. “I’m coming with,” He stated - and not having time to argue they let him in. All he could do in the small space while the professionals worked on her… doing everything to keep her alive, was hold her hand. A small whisper of “come back to me” leaving his lips as they approached the hospital.

The two laid naked on the floor of the elevator; their bodies wrapped up in one another as Daniel placed butterfly kisses on her shoulder. His hand was running up and down her back and honestly… Daniel just didn’t ever want to stop. There was something about being with the girl that just made everything so much better. And at the moment, he was lost in it, lost in her taste… in her touch… in everything that made her, well, Valerie Wood. The woman that was his. A woman that he loved not despite her flaws, but because of them. Because without them - she wouldn’t be the woman lying with him. And Daniel was in love with that woman. The woman who had been hurt, who had fears, who had a past. Because all of those little moments accumulated and made the girl stronger. Made her the amazing person he knew she was. His love. Valerie Wood.

“Did you ever notice how ironic it is that we keep ending up in elevators?”

“Do we?” Daniel asked, placing another kiss on her shoulder. “What do we do in these elevators? Do you want to remind me?” Dan teased; moving his lips from her shoulder to her lips. He couldn’t get enough of her. Hell, intoxicating didn’t begin to describe how he felt with Valerie. Rather, it was all-consuming. “Though, I quite enjoy my elevator obsession. Though if you want to get tested - we can go ahead and visit all the elevators we can find in this zip code?” he asked; a smile on his lips when she said she wasn’t complaining. “I’m not either,” he added, moving a strand of hair behind her ear. Her wig was now discarded on the side as her brown locks ran down her shoulders. “I prefer you as a brunette,” he mumbled. “Val,” Dan muttered. “I don’t want to leave this fcking elevator confused about where we are because that’s absolute bull sh^t. I love you and I want the whole bloody world to know. I don’t want to date anyone else. Or blood fck anyone else. I just…” he started, kissing her shoulder again. “…want…” he continued, moving his hand tantalizingly down her body, “…you… and only you,” he finished.

“I still prefer New York, but London has it’s perks,”

Rolling her eyes; Jess gave him a look of yeah right as she took a sip of the scotch in her hand, leaning against the handrail as she faced him. “One day…” Jess started, moving her hand under his shirt, and pulling him closer against her with a teasing smile. “… we’ll finally bring you over the dark side,” she finished, though; kept her arm around him as she leaned her head against his body, listening to the soft pitter-patter of his heartbeat as he told her about his birthday never feeling like it was his own; she let her unbandaged hand moved to his scar on his abdomen again, letting her thumb trace against it. She still couldn’t believe his sister would… do that. How could you hurt your own family? Despite everything her own sister had put her through; physical harm was never a part of that. Anna wasn’t capable of hurting her. Well… emotionally yes, but physically no. Jess knew that part of her sister would always love her… just… a very deep part… inside of her. Or maybe she was kidding herself and holding on to false hope. But Anna was her family and would always be. Jessica could never see her in the wrong. Family was family.

A gentle grin met her features as he kissed her, making a soft moan escape her lips. Though his next words made her heart beat faster. He loved her too. Part of her never wanted to leave this moment. For the first time in a long time, Jessica was truly happy. For years she had pushed herself away from anyone who could get closer to her. She kept her own friends at bay, and never let any relationship move past a few weeks. How Kai got past all her walls and found his place in her heart… she would never understand. But she knew he was there now. In all honesty; perhaps the reason Jess let it go on this long was that she never subconsciously thought it would work. They were… just so different. But somehow… it worked and now she didn’t want to let him go. Though along with the feeling of pure happiness was this fear. This internalized fear that she had always had with anything she did… with any person she allowed herself to grow closer to. It was the reason she hadn’t gotten close to anyone for years. She had a fear that her sister would do something and it would break her again; as Anna had done with Lyonrad… like her sister had done with her friendship with Andy… with Valerie. Perhaps over the years, she had convinced herself that she wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t worth getting invested because it would just end up hurting her. Killing her a little more inside. But for some reason, she had finally found someone that made her feel the opposite. She felt safe in his arms and honestly, she didn’t want to leave.

Moving her head away from his chest, she smiled as he told her he needed to tell her something. Slightly confused, though she took another drink. “Let me guess… you were trying to audition for the burlesque club off 21st street but you didn’t make the cut?” Jess teased. “Don’t worry… I’m sure we can find a strip club and move up from there,” she added.

When Kai told Jess he loved her, he never wanted that moment to end. He could be right there with her in his arms forever. Kai wasn’t one to open up to people. Very few people actually saw the real him. His younger siblings and Valerie. Other than Elettra, who knew him in a way nobody else did, that was it for people he could be himself with. Everyone else saw some facade with his walls up, he would be whatever he needed to be in that moment. That is until Jessica Pierce walked into the guys bathroom that day. That day he asked her out, never thinking he would actually care about her, completely unaware that he was going to fall completely in love with the girl who was his opposite in so many ways. Now, she was probably the person who he was most himself around. She was someone he trusted, and he knew there was a high probability that she would lose her trust in him, but he couldn’t lie to her. Kai’s someone who will do anything for the people he cares about. Family is family, and you do what you have to do in order to protect them. That was one thing that him and Jess were actually the same on. Family is important, which is why he did everything that he did, and now he cared about Jess, and the truth was better to come from him than someone else. There wasn’t anything he could do to protect her from it, and delaying telling her any longer wouldn’t be for her own good, it would be only for him. As she pulled away, Kai shook his head at her comment before drinking. “Jess…” he began with a sigh. “You know I’d do anything to protect my family. That’s why I’m here Jess, because I had to be…” he paused. He knew she would think he didn’t care about her, that it was all a lie. At the beginning it was, but since the fashion show he had been completely genuine. “I knew who you were before I met you. My sister knows yours, and told her everything about me and my family. Anna threatened my family, forcing me into all of this… Into dating you, and into pulling the strings to get you here. I’m the reason you had to come back Jess…”

Pain. It’s not one many can say they have truly experienced by the age of 18. Jessica had experienced a lifetime of it. But this moment… this was one of the worst. It was a heart wrenching pain. It was emotional pain that led into physical pain as her body ached. She was dying inside. She could feel it. She could feel her heart physically shatter, as her body instinctively moved away from his with his words. “I don’t… you…” she didn’t have the right words. There was no stupid quip. No rambling words that left her mouth. She didn’t have anything to say. She was speechless. But anyone who was watching her could see that though she didn’t say anything, the love had drained from her eyes. She no longer looked at Kai Azure with affection in her eyes – one she had grown accustomed to over the past few months. She watched him as if he was a stranger. As if this was the first time, she had truly seen him. In retrospect, it was. His words only went to show that she had never truly known him. It was all a lie. A façade. Anna Pierce: 100000, Jessica Pierce: 0. As it had always been. But this moment… it hurt more than anything else she had ever done to Jessica. Her heart was more than broken. She was broken. She officially was broken. Because within this moment, not only had Jessica realized that the person she loved never existed, but she also finally came to terms that her sister would never love her either. Any hope that there was more to Anna fell within an instant. Her own sister destroyed her. That her sister went as far as despised her. That Anna Pierce hated Jessica so much that she would break her again and again until there was nothing left to break. And that’s exactly what Jessica was. Empty.

Tears begin streaming form her eyes as she looked at him, hoping, wishing what he said wasn’t true. “Don’t… you dare touch me,” Jess whispered watching as he moved closer to her. “Don’t you fcking dare,” she cried. Pain emanated from her voice as she moved further away from him, turning so she didn’t have to look at him. She couldn’t. It hurt to much to see him. To know that her Kai didn’t exist.

Instead, she looked at the skyline. The serenity within it contrasting her own turbulent emotions. Jessica drowned the rest of the drink in her hand and threw the glass against the side, watching it shatter as she fell to her knees; her hands holding her head as a sob left her lips. For first time; Jessica was breaking apart in front of someone. She was unusually so good with her emotions, pretending like everything was okay. She did it every day. A smile on her face as she moved through every day painfully. The only time her real feelings came out was at night when she was alone. When she walked by herself in the early hours of the day, crying to herself because that’s all she could do. That’s the only way she felt alive inside But she couldn’t do it anymore. Couldn’t fcking pretend anymore. She let the cold air hit her body, though didn’t even notice it anymore as wiped the tears off her face. Her body felt ravaged.

Though despite that; Jess stood up. She wasn’t going to let him see her cry. He didn’t deserve that. Holding it in… or at least, attempting to hold it in, Jessica walked back to him; an air of purpose as she stood right in front of him and slapped him. So fcking hard that the stiches in her hands ripped slightly and her bandage started slightly bleeding through. Though Jess didn’t even feel the pain. She was numb to everything. “Tell her she won,” Jess muttered, her voice cracking ever-so-slightly. “Tell her she got whatever she wanted because I fcking can’t do it anymore,” Jess whimpered through her lips – not able to stop the tears streaming from her face even though she was doing her best from holding herself together so she wouldn’t fall apart in front of him.

A laugh left her lips… contrasting the situation at hand. “You know… I don’t even fcking blame you Kai. As much as I want to I can’t,” She mumbled, not looking him in the eyes; though the quiver in her lips weas clear. “… because I would do anything for my family too. But I must have been fooling myself because I almost believed you… I almost fcking believed that I was someone important to you too. I considered you family and I would have done anything for you Kai. So congra-fcking-lations. You did it. You won. She won.” She let out, wiping the tears again. “…don’t,” she continued as he started to move towards her for the second time.

“The funniest part of all of this is if you just came to me and told me what was happening, I would have helped you. I would have done anything you needed. So much for that huh?” Jess whispered incredulously. “You’re the one who threatened me to come here didn’t you?” she whispered at his second part… the reason she came back, another laugh leaving her lips as she closed her eyes; recalling the text she had gotten. The irony it being that one of the things it threatened to reveal was Anna’s mental issue. Jessica had come here to protect Anna; and there was the cruel twist of fate. Jessica would always do anything to protect Anna Pierce but Anna would do anything to break her. And the irony was that Jess would still do anything to protect Anna.

“What else did you do. What else did you bloody manipulate and don’t fcking lie to me Kai. You owe me that much.” Jess muttered. “Was any of it real?” She let out, though looked away with that question. “You know what… I don’t want to know. I don’t want to know how all of this was a game to you.” She muttered.

“I’m leaving.” She whispered after a few moments. Perhaps it was Jessica’s go-to. To disappear. To run away from her problems. But for a girl who has only been hurt her whole life, running away was just… easier. She was suffocating here. Everything was rushing over her and she couldn’t breathe. “your promises mean nothing; but promise me that you won’t hurt my friends, my…. sister,” she muttered, finally meeting his eyes again. “do one thing for me. You owe me this… Just promise me that,”

Home is not a place, home is a a feeling, a safe place. Home is where your heart is, and for Valerie, home could even be an elevator floor, because home… well, home was one boy named Daniel. Because at this point, it was undeniable, she had fallen in love with him, stronger than she had ever fallen for anyone before in her life. And as the two laid naked, their bodies intertwined together on the elevator floor, Valerie felt at home. She felt happy, wrapped up in his touch, with the feeling of his kisses on her shoulder. “Do we?” he asked. ”We kinda do” she replied with a lightly raised brow ”We do all the best things in there elevators” she said with a smirk, responding to his question with a smirk on her lips ”If you don’t remember, that’s quite an issue” she said with a teasing tone

He then spoke up, and as he spoke, Valerie couldn’t take her eyes off his own, gazing into them like she gazed into the big blue ocean, but in brown. Saying he didn’t want to leave this fcking elevator confused about what or where they were, he said he loved her and wanted the whole bloody world to know, ”So do I” she said, because honestly, she wanted him to herself and the whole world to know, she just wanted him, loved him ”I love you, so bloody much.” she said quietly, as a smile came to her lips from the small kisses he placed on her shoulders ”just…” she whispered ”just don’t leave me” she added, because honestly, she feared that. She feared that one day soon, he’ll get up in the morning and leave, because he had enough of her or for so many other reasons. But she wanted him, she loved him, there was nobody in this stupid world that would match him in any possible way. ”I’ll be better, I promise” she promised to herself, her eyes fixed on Daniel’s. Not speaking a work, she placed a small light kiss on his lips, looking at him as a smile came to her lips. Never in her life had Valerie expected to love someone just as much. It was different, special; he was different, special.

When Jess pulled away, it only confirmed how bad he knew it would be. He didn’t want to hurt her, but he couldn’t keep it secret from her forever. She would find out the truth eventually, and it was better to be now than later. All he could do was face her with an apologetic look, even as he could he the hurt in her expression, the way she looked at him as a stranger. He didn’t plan on getting close to her, but to be around her he had to open up. Opening up, meant letting down his walls, letting her see behind the mask. He only initiated a relationship with Jessica because of Anna’s blackmail, but it became so much more. It was simultaneously one of the best and one of the worst things he had ever done. “Jess.. I’m sorry..” He wanted to just pull her close and show her that what he felt was real, but she only moved further away from him, hurt. Though, soon she closed the distance, and slapped him. It didn’t come as a surprise, he knew he deserved it. “You are important to me Jess. You’re so damn important that I couldn’t lie to you anymore.” Anna won. She got what she wanted. She got Kai to hurt Jess, but Kai, he wasn’t winning in any way. He lost too. He fell for Jess, and now he was losing her. He couldn’t even protect his siblings how he needed to. “I didn’t know I could trust you then. I should have.” At her questioning if he was the one who threatened her, he looked down. He didn’t make the threat himself, he wasn’t responsible for what was used to threaten her, but the idea to threaten her into coming back was his suggestion. “It was my idea. I gave the instruction for that message to be sent.” He looked back at her, hurting to tell her the truth. “I pushed you away from Dorian, I tried to keep you from listening to Daniel about me because he was right that I would hurt you, and I had the message sent to make you come. Your sister chose me because I was the only person who could influence Blue Royalty from the inside to force you here, so I could date you while I tried to win the game my family created. I started off trying to play you, but everything since the fashion show has been real Jess. Completely real, and I’m not going to hurt them.” Kai couldn’t necessarily account for the long term future, or what would happen due to everything behind the scenes with Blue Royalty, since he was out of the loop at that time, though he still knew every part of how the game ran, which he had to know to be able to take over the game from his father. That being said, he still didn’t want to personally hurt the people Jess cared about. Daniel being an exception, but that would be for the future. Whether Jessica could or not, anyone who ever had a somewhat accurate idea of whether or not someone was genuine or being honest at a particular moment, would have been able to tell that Kai wasn’t lying about any of what he was saying.

”Jess… I’m so sorry…”

There are things sorry could never fix. Death and heartbreak were two of the top contenders in that category. Simon’s death… Jessica’s sorry that night had never made up for that. It never really could. And that moment haunted her every single day. For two years – maybe for the rest of her life. This… this was no different. Kai had just shattered Jessica’s heart into more pieces than she could put back together. Sorry wasn’t a magical fix to the situation and it never would be. He couldn’t fix this. Hell, she, herself, couldn’t fix this. She never could. Maybe she had always been too broken to love. But even if that wasn’t true, even if there was some speck of her that could be loved; Kai made sure that any fragment that was left was… well… gone.

Part of her wanted to believe his words. As awful as it was; her heart still ached for him. She hated him with every being of her body… but that didn’t stop her from loving him too. And it was that exact fact that made the whole situation worse. That was the problem, it just hurt so damn much. The pain was truly all-encompassing and excruciating. Perhaps that’s why she couldn’t help the tears streaming down her eyes. Because despite everything Jessica had been through in her life. This hurt more than anything else ever had. She didn’t have anything to say to him – she couldn’t get the words out. Though when he revealed every time he had manipulated her; it only reinforced the idea that he truly didn’t care for her. You don’t do that… any of that to people you care for. Hell, you don’t do that to anyone. With the last statement, her eyes closed as her mind connected the pieces. Blue Royalty had sent the message… because of Kai. Because he and his family fcking owned the game. A game she had always hated. And honestly; if anything, this was just another task. A bloody task, maybe not from the game but the rules were the same. Manipulate the people you care about. And this time, Jess was in the crossfire.

Jess’ arms were wrapped around her body; a protective mechanism to close herself off from the world. From him. And maybe at one point… he was her world. She couldn’t… do it anymore. At his last words, she looked at him. “Maybe it was real for you, Kai…” she let out, “… because I was always myself with you. I never lied to you… not once. I… would never lie to you…” she continued, wiping more tears from her eyes. “But I never fell in love with a real person. I fell in love with someone who doesn’t exist…” she continued, taking a deep breath; trying to hold in the sob that begged to escape her quivering lips. “…and I don’t even know how to explain how much that hurts Kai. It’s like you ripped my heart out of my chest and decided to let it wither in your hands.” She let out finally, running her hands through her hair as she started to move away from him and towards the door that led back to the party.

“I’m done… with you and… your family. With all of it. Don’t touch anyone I care about, Malachi… if that’s even your name.” Jess added. Walking towards the door, she stopped for a moment. Her mind running through everything… all of their memories. The laughs, the way he held her, the way she felt around him. Gone, in an instant. Turning towards him one last time; she met his eyes again. “Tell Anna whatever you need to tell her to keep your family safe,” she whispered; and with that – she walked through the doors and back to the party, keeping her head down as she moved towards the exit. She didn’t even wait for the elevator; Jess simply started moving down the stairs.

She didn’t break down until the cold air of the March wind hit her for the second time. At first, she broke out in a run; taking the damn heels off and just ran until she couldn’t breathe anymore. Though soon; she moved towards the nearby alleyway – far away from the public; falling to the cement floor. Her hands wrapped around her legs, moving into a fetal position as she cried. She didn’t want to move anymore. Every single part of her body hurt as she thought back to what Kai had said. To all the fcking red flags Jess had ignored because she fell in love with him.

She didn’t know how long she was there; though her eyes were blurry when she moved her head out of her legs and looked around. Maybe a minute? Maybe an hour? Maybe multiple hours? All she knew was there she was; sitting in the same place she had been with blood on her hands from the stitches that had opened up when she slapped Kai. The night was a peaceful one – the sky filled with stars, the crickets filling the night air. Though none of that mattered because all Jessica wanted… was for it to stop hurting. Her eyes settled on a broken glass bottle and for a moment, picking the item up in her bloodied fingers, she almost considered it. Being done with it all. Because at least she would feel something; a numb sensation settling around her body. But any choice she was mentally debating was gone as she found a notification on her phone from her little siblings. If there was one reason, she couldn’t do it – it was them. So instead, she simply put the bottle down, pushing it away from her, and focused her attention on the device. Only having about 10 percent left though that didn’t matter to her. She didn’t care if it died. Hell, part of her didn’t care if she froze to death right there in the alleyway.

Jess moved slowly; looking through it, somehow finding herself on the contact page as her favorites showed up first. Andy McAllister stared at her as the first name and her tears started falling harder. The way Andy had, in an odd way, did a similar thing that Kai had. Though she had asked for it. She had asked to be hurt so maybe… maybe she deserved all of this. Her good finger hovered above his name… clicking it for a second but as the call started going in, she immediately hung up. Like Kai, she just couldn’t. It hurt too much to talk to the man and she didn’t know what to say. Instead; her finger moved towards the second name she saw, pressing call to Dorian DeLoughrey as she fell beside her floor, throwing it in front of her as she found herself in fetal position once again.

She listened to the rings. One… two… three click. “Dori…” she whispered; her voice wracked with emotion as she didn’t say anything for a long time after saying his name, letting the tears fall from her face. She wasn’t listening to what he was saying; honestly, she didn’t even know if he had heard her. Or if had hung up. But after a few minutes, she finally said her next words. “… I need you…”

Elias Stokes

Ah, the bright and early… afternoon. Lately he has been getting much better sleep, practically sleeping like a baby. Well but that good, but much better. It was quite the nap. Elias put on some gray sweats before heading down to see what was going on. Nothing, absolutely nothing. For the last five minutes anyways before his parents walked in the front door. Oh god, how much he wished Mare was here, but not at the same time. He sighed as he was getting ready to sprint back upstairs. Too late, his mother already started to speak,”Oh honey, i feel like we haven’t seen each other in forever,” He almost scoffed, maybe because it has been forever? Instead he put on quite the fake warm smile. “Hello mother, father.” They were never the lovey dovey type family, anymore at least. “As much as I’d love to stay for the reunion i have places to be,”He spoke a bit passive aggressive and headed upstairs to change as someone invited him to a party. More specifically Kai’s. Elias gave a small, subtle wave before bringing his phone out as he got into his car. He was still a bit sleepy from just waking up, but went anyways. Arriving he searched for others he may know and he found Yara. Walking up to her he spoke,”We have got to stop meeting like this.” He chuckled. “This is quite the gathering.”

Finding herself on the blue blood list definitely caught Yara by surprise, coming this late into the game she wasn’t actually sure she had a shot, but either way it didn’t stop her from trying, a choice that seemed to pay off well so far.

Kai’s birthday came up, and even though he didn’t really seem to be excited about it, there was a surprise party in the horizon. That was probably why it was a suprise.

So time passed, getting ready, Yara made her way to Kai’s place, but even though it was only like one floor up, the girl waited for the elevator who never bloody showed up. So walking up the stairs, she found herself in a party, quite ironically London themed, but definitely well made. The girl got a drink from the bar and stood looking around when approached by a familiar figure

”We have got to stop meeting like this.”
Elias said, making Yara let out a small chuckle ”I do sense a pattern here” she said ”What will we ever do if life ran out of parties? I wouldn’t survive” she said, sipping her drink with a sad yet playful smirk on her lips.

”Gotta love an unsolicited birthday party with an open bar one floor away from my comfortable couch I can be a potato in” she jokingly said, yet it was absolutely true. Quitting the party eventually and going back home has never been more convenient than now.

Dorian DeLoughrey

Anyone but him. Yeah, of course, that’s why she refused to go with him and didn’t get in his car. Why she hated the idea of skipping class. He could call her out for that but he didn’t… instead he shut the door with a sarcastic smile before walking over to his side. “And I won’t let you win,” was the first thing he said as he got in, turning to fully face her with the same smile, resting his elbow up on the seat. “I’m having second guesses? Maybe I am… And maybe I’d rather be here with… anyone but you,” using her own words from just minutes ago, the corner of his lips curved into a smirk before he looked away from her, turned on his car, and mumbled, “I’m not that bad, come on…” Maybe it was a joke, referring to what she said, or maybe he was actually a bit hurt by that and tried to hype himself up for not a short time they’re gonna spend together. “No no… You’re not talking me out of this. It’s a competition now,” glancing at her for a short second, he subtly smiled. “And let’s make this ride a whole lot easier. You pick the music and I don’t have to talk to you?”

Little time skip

“One more round? I think we have time,” leaning against the pool table, he asked with a hint of entertainment in his voice. The past hour or so has surprisingly been not bad, considering who he was with. Better than science? Sure. Better than being with any other girl? Well… No, it wasn’t bad. She was also surprisingly not as bad as he thought she was and maybe he was just trying to be nice to her after what happened. Not because he felt like he should be but because he wanted to.

He was also letting her win. Doing her favour in front of so many people; she should be thankful. “And it seems like I was wrong. Maybe I should’ve just stayed in school and saved myself from this embarrassment…” Jokingly adding, he laughed lightly as he left his cue stick to the side and grabbed the ball rack. “Are…” his expression quickly got serious and his voice quieter, refusing to look at her. This whole time he was with her he was trying not to bring up the fashion show, enjoy his time, but it was hard not to think about it because that’s what got him into this situation. “You sure you’re okay?”

Saturday 4:00 pm, 30th May, Beryl Heights Stadium

The most important night for the soccer team, the last game of the season. The stands filled with vital college scouts that will shape their future. As for everyone else, some filled the role of cheerleading, whilst most just attended as it was one of the last events where the senior class would be together. But it would certainly be a memorable one.

@BlueRoyalty

They also all got sent the form to add or take away points for each other, the final chance for points scores being altered before the last Blue Royalty are revealed.
