“You know… Val… I don’t think I ever said this to you. I’m… really sorry for leaving without saying anything, I know it must have hurt… and it hurt me so much to leave in the first place… I can’t imagine how it felt in your shoes. I just… part of is just that I’m terrible at goodbyes. Another part of it was I was told I can’t…”
”It’s okay” she told her, with a soft smile at the girl who seemed to be genuine but still struggle a bit with actually talking about it, but overall Valerie understood and didn’t want her to push herself for an explanation, she just needed that I’m sorry more than she realised she did. ”It’s in the past now innit. I’m just glad you’re back” she told her. It was indeed a very long time ago, and to be fair Valerie wasn’t necessarily mad, she was hurt, she was confused, she made some mistakes , but that was in the past, and now in the present she finally had her old friend back, and frankly that was all she needed.

”Debatable” Valerie said as Dorian claimed to bring a decent person. There were times she thought that, but he proved her wrong more than enough times for her not to believe that anymore. But who cares anyway it’s just Dorian.
”I’m not superwoman” Valerie pft-ed ”It was just common sense” she told her and ignored Dorian’s sarcastic remark with a light shrug.

Valerie’s attention was then shifted as she heard her name, followed by a pair of arms wrapped around her “Are you okay? Oh my god” ”C” she sighed and hugged the girl back, happy she escaped the fire even if their relationship hasn’t really been the easiest since she came back ”I’m still alive I suppose” she said, running a hand through her hair as she pulled back from the hug ”You’re okay aren’t you?” Valerie asked and checked the girl top to bottom to see any signs of burns or anything ”Everyone out there… are they okay? Kai…? Daniel?” she asked, lowkey worried

Zion smiled as Marie told them that she wanted to continue writing music. “Yeah, I have!” They said in response to her asking if they knew Girl in Red. “I listen to her music all the time.” They added with a small shrug. “Why do you ask?” They asked her, curious as to why she was asking. Girl in Red was one of their favourite artists and they thought that it would be really cool if she was into her as well.

Marie grinned when Zion said they liked Girl in Red. “Well, what’s your favorite song? Mine’s Girls.” Grinning, she began to sing. “I’ve been hiding for so long. These feelings, they’re not gone…can I tell anyone? Afraid of what they’ll say, so I push them away. I’m acting so strange. They’re so pretty, it hurts. I’m not talking about boys, I’m talking about girls…”

Luciano Ribeiro

His lips twisted in amusement, and he laughed at the utter disappointment depicted on Gio’s face. “What else would they do with their edible gold besides ruin pasta?” He asked with a grin. “Maybe–and don’t kill me for this–maybe it tastes… good?”

Kissing Gio… it had been so long since he’d been this close to him, nevermind been able to kiss him like this. In many ways, it was like their first kiss all over again; in the way that there were promises of a new beginning, the way they had found a little paradise in an unconventional location, the way his heart pounded against the palm of Gio’s hand… and even though everything had changed since then, at the same time, as he shared this kiss with Gio, it felt like absolutely nothing had.

He was never much of a fairytale person, but if this moment reminded him of anything, it was definitely one of those happily ever after tales that his sister had loved when the two of them were children. Maybe it had to do with the fact that they were in the castle’s greenhouse in a literal kingdom—nothing screamed fairy tale more than that—but whatever the reason, he couldn’t stop thinking that he’d found his Prince Charming. It was very cheesy, and it embarrassed him to even think it, but it was the truth. Gio was… gold, and not the edible parmesan kind. He was the gold that people spent lifetimes searching for, and yet it was only a few that were lucky enough to uncover it. Luciano didn’t know how, but he’d managed to find Gio, his tesoro, and he never wanted to let go.

He would’ve stayed out here forever with Gio if he could’ve, passed the time among the various vegetation in this greenhouse, kissing and talking and… kissing. And just, doing whatever. It didn’t even matter what they did, Lui was happy enough to simply sit with him. But the fire threw a wrench in this plan, introducing a note of destruction into their found piece of paradise.

The fire ate at the castle, sending down the turret upon them, and any previous notion of paradise was ruined. His first instinct as the destruction rained down was to protect Gio because he’d be damned if he ever let Gio be harmed in an accident again. He wouldn’t lose him, not when he had just gotten him back.

Gio said that he was fine, and Luciano was able to let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding. ”Are you?” He nodded, though he could feel the sharp pain of the cuts and bruises inflicted upon him by the dreadful tower thingy. “Don’t worry about me,” he said softly, helping Gio up. It was clear that he’d gotten the brunt of the crash, but he was glad; he’d go through a thousand fires if it meant that Gio wouldn’t have the smallest scratch. He’d be more than willing to bear eternal pain if it meant that Gio would be alright, for his friends, family, Aline…

He frowned slightly, his breath catching. Aline. Was she okay? Did she get out? There was no way to answer any of the questions that were arising from the thought of his sister being hurt, but they kept popping up.

She retraced her steps, taking a right instead of a left as she stumbled through the burning halls of the castle. Aline was moving slowly now, each step taking longer than the previous one. It had been an easy choice to forgo the exit at the time, her mind latching pretty illogically on the prospect of finding Luciano. She wasn’t thinking straight, should’ve turned around a long time ago, but her brain would think up memories of her brother and she would trudge on.

Her whole life consisted of him by her side, the two of them a pair, a package deal, two peas in a pod. For the first few years of their life, they were hardly separated, growing up together in the small apartment her tía Maria owned with her husband. It wasn’t nearly big enough for five people, but they survived. Even after Marcia had met Fred, after their world was flipped on its axis, Lui was still by her side. They went through it together, through all of the chaos.

She remembered when they first came to America from Brazil; Lui, so apprehensive, and her, excited and bubbly, everything so shiny and new and fascinating to her. She remembered her English being so weak—she would try to talk to people in that language and only get a couple of words in before she dissolved into either Portuguese or Spanish or a mix of the two, and it would frustrate her, not knowing what other people were saying and them not understanding her. Though in Brazil she had always been better than Lui with English, in Beryl, it was Luciano’s English that quickly advanced. He was a lot more dedicated to the language now that they had moved to a country that practically only spoke it, and he ended up becoming something of a tutor for her. She remembered all the nights they spent curled together in his room—despite the largeness of Fred’s house, they were used to being together and so it took them a while to grow accustomed to having separate rooms—him finding new ways to help her understand the spoken language and the ESL lessons they took. He had always been so patient, so understanding… whenever she was frustrated with herself, he would be there with his warm hands, murmuring comforting words and telling funny stories about his day until she calmed down.

He didn’t give up on her, and so she wouldn’t on him.

If he were here, he’d want her to go back, to find an exit and get out of the castle. His scoldings played through her mind, and she shook her head, as if he could see her doing the motion. “I’m gonna find you,” she murmured aloud, a hacking cough succeeding her words. Aline could nearly see his shape, his disapproving gaze staring down at her. “Ali, get out of here, what are you doing?” She paused, looking off into the distance. “¿Por qué nunca piensas bien las cosas?” “Why don’t you ever think things through?” The Lui apparition asked her. “You are going to die.

Was she? Well, seeing things usually wasn’t a good indicator of life but she didn’t think she was ready to die. She was only eighteen, she had so many more life experiences to experience. A wedding, kids… but if Lui wasn’t alive, then none of that mattered to her. “And you think you’re any help to me?” He asked her, arms crossed. “I’m fine, but I won’t be without you.”

He was nothing but a figment of her imagination, but he was right, what was she doing here? She was clearly no help to anyone in here, and… she had a feeling that Lui was alright. Aline usually didn’t pay as much attention to her instincts as Lui seemed to, but as she thought about it more, she was surer of the fact that he was okay.

A smile graced her lips. Even if she couldn’t get out of here, if this really was her end, well, that was okay. She’d lived a good life. If she was going to die trying to save Lui, that was just how it would have to be, and for a way to die, that was a pretty good way to go out.

Maybe she wouldn’t get to see her little sisters grow up, but Andi and Nadalia would be okay, she knew. She would’ve loved to help them through their teenage years, seen the women that they would become, but she didn’t worry about them. After all, they would have some pretty baller family members there to help her through the milestones she would miss. Her littlest sister, the baby still in her Mami’s stomach, Aline would miss out on her whole life. She wondered who she would be, what she would do…

Aline started shuffling towards the nearest door, determined to find a way out of the castle and to wherever her brother and Gio were, but though her will was strong, her body was weak, and it was the limitations of her human flesh that failed her in the end. Her vision blurred and then she was falling, the influx of smoke and lack of oxygen finally causing her to lose consciousness. Her grip slackened, the fabric-mask she had fluttering to the floor and the long gown of her dress falling back down around her legs, hitting the floor as her body did. The fire caught quickly on the train of her dress, but her heart had stopped beating long before the flames even touched her skin.

The thing about twins was that they often had a level of interconnectedness that many people couldn’t touch. Spending nine months together in utero tended to build a special sort of connection between babies, even if later in life they didn’t get along at all. While Luciano and Aline never claimed to have any sort of twin telepathy, and they certainly couldn’t read each other’s thoughts, they did still have a unique connection. Maybe it had nothing to do with being twins, and rather their closeness which built from all the moments they spent together.

Whatever the reason, there were sometimes just instinctual things they knew about the other. A feeling that they didn’t question but one that didn’t arise very frequently. As Gio moved away from him to search for a way out of the burning greenhouse, presumably, it was this instinctive feeling, one of absolute dread settled upon Luciano, freezing his motions. This was something he’d never felt before, and it was so total and encompassing that it startled him. His breathing came quicker, though he didn’t know why, and he was so confused at this peculiar development that he didn’t notice more parts of the building beginning to crumble, the debris falling upon him. He fell, knocking his head against the floor and losing consciousness as a pretty significant chunk of the building fell onto his legs. The echo of Gio’s screams danced around his mind for a few seconds, but even that then faded into the empty void of unconsciousness.

Twenty-four hours. That was how much time had passed since the fire that had consumed the castle of Listaria, and had caused the events that would become pivotal moments of Luciano’s life, even though he didn’t know it yet.

Minutes after he was strapped into the gurney on the ambulance, his sister was pulled from the castle, though her retrieval was more of a recovery than a rescue. Resuscitative maneuvers were attempted at the scene, but the strain on her heart from the excessive inhalation of smoke was immense and the burns on her limbs were deep, and the effort from the paramedics yielded only a very faint heartbeat from her. None of them could say just how long she’d been without oxygen for, and the threat of brain damage was more than likely. Aline was shipped off to the hospital, her heart failing several times on the brief ambulance ride, and now she laid in a hospital bed, connected to machines that were pumping oxygen into her.

When Marcia arrived at the hospital nineteen hours after the disastrous fire, by herself, the doctors told her of her eldest daughter’s condition and she immediately dissolved into sobs, her heart ripping apart. They said that she had no brain activity, and it wasn’t looking like anything would change in the days ahead. Her heart was beating, but that was about the only thing she had going for her, and they said that if they removed the ventilator, her heart would stop too. And if that loss wasn’t enough for her to have to deal with, she had to then hear that her only son was also in the hospital, and that he had to go into surgery for some of the injuries he had sustained. There was so much uncertainty and she found herself wondering what could have gone differently if she’d made different decisions. She should never have allowed them to go to this strange royal wedding because look at them now…

It wasn’t supposed to be like this, mothers weren’t supposed to lose their children. It wasn’t something she was equipped for, and definitely hadn’t ever thought much about. She’d done everything she could to keep them safe from harm, but now, with Aline lying in this bed, hadn’t she failed her one objective as their Mami? She had let her down, let both of them down.

Marcia called Fred, letting him know of the condition of their kids and trying her best to hold back the sobs that threatened to escape. Her weak bravado did crumble, and she was full out crying by the end of the phone call. Her husband did his best to comfort her through his own tears, but what she really needed was for him to come and hold her. It really, really hurt to learn that he was cheating on her, but he was still the man she loved, regardless. And she just really needed him to be here, with her and their kids. Maybe the twins weren’t his biologically, but by any measure of family, he was as much as their father as she was their mother.

Even if he and the girls took the next flight, it would be a good fifteen hours, at the very least, until she saw any of them. She didn’t really want the girls to come, but if Aline truly was… not alive, at least, not in the ways that mattered, then she wanted them to be able to say goodbye to their big sister. She just wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do with all of this waiting—well, she wanted to curl into a ball and just, sob, but she felt like if she did that she would never unfurl herself. Being pregnant too, Marcia didn’t want to put any more stress on her baby; this was quite literally the only thing that kept her from losing her composure, she just, wasn’t going to lose another child.

Maybe one good spot in all of this was Gio, who she’d seen when she first arrived at the hospital, the young man hunched over in a seat in the waiting room as Luciano underwent surgery. Seeing him had made her smile because, well, he had become something of a son to her when he had lived with their family. Marcia had gotten to see just how much Gio had meant to her son and it was just very heart-warming. He was already such an incredible boy, kind and loving (from what she’d heard of his father, it didn’t look like he shared many traits with him, gracias a Dios) and she would never understand how his parents could just… abandon him as they had. Clearly, though, he had many supports coming from places that didn’t involve the parents, and she was glad for that, because if there was anyone who was really deserving of all the love, it was him.

When the doctor pulled her aside to talk about Aline’s condition, she had wanted to hide how bad it was from Gio, but seeing as she had quite literally started sobbing, sliding to the floor, well, obviously there was no other option but to tell him the truth.

Luciano was moved back into his room an hour or so after that and so the two went there, a heaviness sitting in the room as they waited for him to wake up.

“There was evidence of a concussion, but we can’t say how extensive the trauma will be until he wakes up,” the doctor told the two of them, her eyes flicking between the two of them and the tablet she held which contained the information about Luciano. “His leg was broken, but with a cast and a couple of months, it should be good as new. There was some hemorrhaging, but all this was amended during surgery. Besides all of that, he’s pretty well-off.” That was nice to hear, but Marcia couldn’t muster a smile after all of the events of today, just tightened her grip on her son’s hand as he lay asleep in the bed. “We’ll monitor him, see how he gets on, but I expect a full recovery.” A relieved cry broke through, and she took a few steadying breaths to prevent herself from breaking into tears again.

“Just call me when he wakes up,” she said as a parting message, and then the doctor left them, leaving the two of them alone. Marcia looked up at Gio, tears streaking down her weary face once again. “Thank you…” she whispered his way, reaching a hand across the bed to hold his. “Thank you for being there for him, if you weren’t with him, no sé lo que-” I don’t know what- She exhaled shakily, offering him a watery smile. “Just… thank you Gio. I’m glad he… he has you.”

The steady beeping of the heart monitor was the first thing that penetrated his conscious, the recurring, constant tone bringing him from the edges of unconsciousness back into reality. His eyes slowly fluttered open, a shocking bright light greeting them as he grew more awake. It made his head hurt, so he closed his eyes and turned away, positioning his head to the side. Lui remembered the fire, though not how he had gotten to this specific bed, so he gathered that he was in the hospital—like the beeping heart monitor wasn’t enough of an indication of that.

Opening his eyes again, he took in a blurry shape—the pale blob familliar, yet still unrecognizable. It was after his eyes had focused when the recognition dawned on him: Gio, of course, that’s the person he was staring at right now. If he was beside him, he was okay, and Lui was more than glad of that fact. He smiled slightly, a faint wince accompanying it. “We should… stop meeting… in the hospital,” he told him in a teasing tone.

Turning his head to the other side he took in his mother, who leaned over to give him a gentle hug, pressing a kiss against his forehead. “Mami…” he mumbled, attempting a small smile his way. She rubbed his arms, nodding through her tears. “Hijo,” she murmured, “Estoy tan contento de que estés bien.” “I’m so glad you’re alright.” Marcia reluctantly pulled away from him, getting up from her seat and heading to the door. “I’ll go get the doctor,” she said before leaving the room.

“Soo…” His gaze flicked to Gio, his brow furrowing in confusion. “What happened, exactly? My head hurts and I can’t really remember how I got here. And…” Luciano’s gaze scanned the rest of the room, his mind alerting him of an alarming absence. “… where’s Ali?”

Before she started to speak, he pressed a soft kiss on her forehead. She was still shaking, he frowned. As much as in this moment he shouldn’t show his emotions right now he couldn’t help it. Elias listened to her as she started to speak. He was the one who brought back up those memories sort of. Good going Eli. As she continued his jaw almost dropped. He started to get where this was going. He became instantly p!ssed, but what could he do? Cause a scene, bring her more pain? Elias held onto her tighter. “You are so brave and strong, you know that?” He spoke quietly. “If you need me to beat someone’s a$$ I’m right here.” He added very serious even if it could be taken to lighten up the conversation. “I hate how you had to go through that, but know that I won’t let anyone touch you like that ever.” He spoke as he brought his hands to her cheeks as he looked her in the eyes, meaning it. Who would ever want to hurt her? She is such a wonderful girl even after the trauma she has endured.

He knew she enjoyed every second of this. Him being practically under her spell since these past few months that he has known her and now even if it was unusual for him, she was his girlfriend now. The first time he really saw her was at the camping trip, long ago and then again at the show where it all really started to take hold. And he is not complaining about it. She pulled away making him mock a frown. “A secret, huh? Hmm, how good of a secret?” He asked teasingly. “Well that’s a good thing then.” Elias continued,“Don’t we already know that.”

Once he took hold of her hand, he sprinted with her around the castle searching for the way out. He started to hear her cough and he rushed more to get out. Eli coughed into his elbow out of habit and they soon reached a group of people running out of doors. Guards came up to them as Elias started to have a coughing attack. The guards brought them towards an ambulance to give him oxygen to try and calm down the coughing. Once he got some control over it he nodded,“Yeah, I’ll be fine. How are you, breathing okay?” He asked before coughing a little more. Stupid Sports Asthma, looks like running is still a weakness of his and well smoke.

She laughed and looked up at him with a flirty smile before looking back at Celine. “You better.” Mare covered her mouth from Theo and whispered,“Do you still have that hitman? I may need him for my brother.” She stifled a laugh and looked back up at him with disbelief,“Me mean? Never.” She joked and nodded along with Celine. “Its a match made in heaven.” Her favorite besides pepperoni.
"Neither did I , but here we are."Mareena shrugged her shoulders as she thought back to that day. She didn’t expect it to begin with let alone with Anna. Which she had slept with… oh no. She didn’t even realize it. She slept with his ex. Definitely not the time to think of this Mare. “Don’t kill them though, but otherwise I give you my full permission.”

After the wedding and the fire occurred, everything happened so quick. Once she found him, she was okay. He was okay. They were okay right now. There were a couple of close calls, but they soon made their way out of the fire with the help of firefighters. He asked if she was okay and all she did was nod before speaking,"Yes… Yeah I’m fine. The baby too."She pulled out her phone of her purse thingy, texting all of her friends who were there to see if they were fine. There were a few not responding, causing her to slightly panic as she pushed her hair out of her face. “I just need a few bandages for my hand, but that’s all. Do you see anyone?”

”But why ruin pasta that’s just sad, pasta is perfect as it is” Gio sighed at the thought of it maybe tasting ‘good’. Though to be fair, Luciano did sort of have a point, what would all those freakishly rich people possibly want to do with all their gold if not turn it into something edible and sprinkle it over their pasta dishes so they technically poop gold as well as swim in it, or whatever they do in the comfort of their own homes. Gio’s family may have always been rich, from his father’s past flourishing career as an insurance man, which was quite high paying, to his mother’s career as a professor in some hotshot university, which wasn’t exactly the definition of minimum wage as well, to past inheritance from all his dead grandparents and relatives and many other things that pay up quite well, or as you may have figured, my point is that for as long as Gio could remember (quite ironic isn’t it?), The De Luca family never seemed to even be close to the state of lacking money. But to be honest, Gio never really cared about any of it. Yes, he obviously enjoyed the bonuses and luxuries a wealthy life had to offer him, but it was never something he saw as an aspect of his life that actually mattered to him. He was more of a sentimental type of guy, memories, connections, emotions, passions, family and friends, not his reputation among the silver spoon folks and fancy houses with a private chef that cooks them pasta with edible gold sprinkled on top like parmesan. He may have been handed the silver spoon growing up, but he never actually wanted it, a regular spoon was just fine wasn’t it?

But that was yet another thing that Gio and his father didn’t see eye to eye on, because Mario, unlike his son, cared for his wealth and status pretty much more than he cared for anything else in his or his family’s lives. And that was the exact reason even until this day, ten years later, almost nobody knew Giovanni even had a brother.

Flashback?

An hour… A day… A week…. A month… A year…
Anxious waiting, investigations, searching and searching and so much damn searching, and for what? He was never found. How can an eight year old boy just disappear from the face of the earth like that? Like he never existed… Which was exactly the mindset Giovanni’s father came up with, as he decided to just forget the whole thing happened. They were still sort of new around the area, having people forget there were two of them wasn’t as impossible as it may sound, especially when they looked exactly the same.
“Non parlerai mai più di lui, mi capisci?” (You’ll never talk about him again, do you understand me?) The young boy looked at his father as the man forbid him to talk about his own missing brother, his best friend, his identical other half, his person. ”Non parli di lui, non dici il suo nome. Non è mai successo.” (You don’t talk about him, you don’t mention his name. He never happened.) He told him, with a strict, fear inflicting tone and body language, approaching the poor boy with threats so he will never disobey the order he was just given. And as much as he tried, Gio could never even begin to understand how a father could possibly do that, forget his own son, blood and flesh of his own. What beating human heart had the capability of just ignoring and banning the boy from existence. Definitely not Gio’s… And apparently not his mother’s as well.

Gio remembered that day, and the way he ducked behind the wall by the stairs of the second floor in their new home, to which they moved after their previous one was burnt down to the ground. The boy hid behind the wall, as he watched his parents having a proper fight downstairs. He could barely hear what they were saying, or yelling to be more accurate, but what he knew was that his mother, unlike his father, had the damn heart to stand against the idea of wiping her son out of human conscious like he never existed, like he didn’t walk the earth and made memories and impacts on people’s hearts for a whole damn eight years, just like that, like nothing. She couldn’t do that, and for the first time in his life, Gio saw his mother stand up against her husband, which was something that never happened.

But even that was for nothing, because after all there was a reason nobody in the family ever stood up against him before, and there was a reason he wanted the memory of his kidnapped child to disappear from the face of the earth. fcuking Reputation. His mother knew eventually, and Gio never did, but the reason Emilio was taken away, was because of him. Because apparently Mario De Luca was not only a bad man in his own home, but also outside in hidden dodgy places. In his house, Mario had always been a figure reflecting power and fear upon others, they just never knew truly how powerful and frighting he really was. Because truth be told, that man had done some questionable things in his life, and he was associated with people even more questionable than himself, some of the bigger names of the industry. ‘What industry?’ you may be asking yourselves, well, all industries, all the big money, from money laundering to illegal goods or human trafficking, organised crime and what not. He was simply just damn good at hiding it behind his so called good Christian husband and father, just an innocent insurance guy wasn’t he? Well, he wasn’t, he was nothing more than a fcuking heartless fraud who would do anything for a little bit of extra cash. Or… not exactly a little bit, but the point still stands.

Frankly, the only reason his wife even stayed with him was out of fear, and it sucked because even though on the outside she seemed like a spineless blindly obedient wife, Valentina De Luca was overall a good woman who didn’t deserve the life she had, but lived every day acting out of fear because she knew what her husband was capable of, and didn’t want to suffer the consequences of turning against him. Where has the man she had fallen in love with all these many years ago disappeared? What happened to the guy who asked her to marry him on a gondola floating in the middle of the tranquil waters of the romantic city born of water, while the sunset acted as the most beautiful backdrop to the timeless magic like architecture everywhere they could possibly turn, as if they were in a fairytale. No wonder many people see Venice as one of the most romantic cities in the world. But even with the loveliest memories, he was no longer that man, he had been ruined, corrupted, turned into that monstrous man who his actions got his own child kidnapped and probably killed, who knows? A man who had the power to change that story and potentially even bring him back, but his pride was bigger than any other thing in him, swallowing his heart and the slight chance of Emilio ever returning right along with it.

But it never stopped the little Gio from waiting for his brother to come back. The way the boy sat in the window of his room every single night, looking out into the empty street secretly hoping in his sad little heart that somehow, one day, maybe… Maybe his brother would show up and come back into his life. That maybe Gio would have spotted him downstairs, peeking from behind the tree in front of his room window, gently throwing small rocks at the window so Gio notices him as he stares into the unknown, waiting. And how Gio would run down with a grin on his face and quietly sneak his brother through the back door into his room because he knew he wasn’t supposed to be out of his bed at this late time of night, and that his brother was… Well, banned? Was he still banned from existence if he ever came back? What if his father wouldn’t take him back?

For years Gio hasn’t stopped dreaming about the possibility of his brother coming back to him, and how they’d sit and fill each other in on everything they have missed in each other’s lives. An hour… A day… A week…. A month… A year… Two, three, four, five… Every night, sitting at his window, waiting for the second half of his package deal that was himself and his twin brother. He even wrote him letters, spoke to him, hoping maybe in some magical way the boy could hear him, wherever he was… If he was even alive… But he never came back, and eventually, the bot stopped writing him letters, he stopped sitting at the window waiting for him to possibly return… The hope? The hope was gone, as Giovanni grew up, he stopped believing that something good might happen, and slowly started accepting the fact that maybe he was never going to see his brother again… Not in his physical form at least, but in his mind, the boy always lived. Always there for him, with him along every step of the way, a boy that would forever remain eight years old as a figment of Gio’s imagination.

Back to the present

Because that’s how twins work, it was something no twin could argue with, twins, they’re a package deal, they’re connected, they have a bond nobody can deny, even if they don’t necessarily like each other. And aside from the fact that in his heart he truly loved Luciano, as Gio pulled him out of the rubble in the greenhouse that was no longer green, nor a house, he knew he had to at least try the best he could to help save him, for Aline, more than anyone else. He couldn’t let it happen, he couldn’t let her lose him. It might sound a bit like a farfetched theory, but there’s a difference between losing a friend, a sibling, a parent, even a significant other, to losing a twin. Losing a twin was the worst of them all, losing a person that is literally your second half. I guess sharing a womb with someone for nine months has some extra stuff in the small print of the contract. When you lose a twin… it’s like a whole damn part of your heart is brutally torn away, while making sure you felt the utter deep pain in every possible part of you and every moment, the hardest pain one can ever go through. Some might disagree, but that’s because they aren’t twins… It was a thing a stranger could never understand.

The ambulance ride from the Listaria castle to the hospital wasn’t as long as it may have seemed, but to Gio, it felt like an eternity. That, and every other waiting included in those twenty four hours that felt like a never ending living nightmare, which wasn’t technically wrong, it really was a nightmare, as the possibility of losing Luciano for real was a thought that couldn’t leave his mind, haunting him through every moment as he had no idea if he would eventually be okay. As the medics in the ambulance took whatever care they could of the unconscious injured boy lying there on the gurney, Gio sat there, with an oxygen mask attached to his face as we looked at him, as sadly bruised and weak as he looked, he was still beautiful. That was the thing with Luciano and Gio, there was something there, something that was different than any romantic or friendly connection he has ever had before. Because somehow, no matter what may happen or what storm came in their path, nothing that happened could ever seem to break the two apart for too long. I mean, look at the damn reality in front of you, Gio literally lost his memory of Luci’s existence in his life, and still, after all this time, they managed to find their way back in to each other’s lives and hearts against all odds. And in the midst of this crazy adventure, Gio found himself right from the start, falling in love all over again with the boy who once stole his heart and never really gave it back.

And he was scared, he was really fcuking scared, worried out of his mind as he gently held Luciano’s hand in his own, sitting by his side as the ambulance soared through the roads of Listaria, holding on to a shred of hope as he glanced out the window trying to spot a hospital, but nothing was in the horizon just yet. Gio looked at the unconscious man lying there next to him, his thumb caressing the skin of his hand as he took off his mask and came closer to him, planting a soft innocent kiss on his forehead as he whispered, ”non preoccuparti amore mio, andrà tutto bene” (don’t worry my love, everything will be okay). The exact words his mother once told him as she hugged him holding him close in her arms, the words that gave him a comforting shred of hope to hold on to in the midst of chaos, the day of the fire, ten years back. Was this meant to be a recurring theme in his life or something? A huge fire once every ten years or so that takes away the one person he loves most? He sure hoped not… But from the way it seemed from Gio’s perspective on his life, it may have actually been true. Sadly ironic as fcuk, but possibly true, as if he was cursed or something.

Gio had always hated hospitals, they were grey, cold, and full of pain and suffering wherever you turn, not to mention they reminded him of bad times in the past. Though in the past few months Gio may have been in a hospital more than he had in all 18 years of his life altogether, but he never hated being in a hospital as much as he did that day, the day he for once was on the other side, the side anxiously sitting in a cold, grey waiting room, waiting for a doctor to come out of that stupid door and tell them everything was going to be okay. And not just for one person, but for two. And as much as he was worried about Luciano’s state, little did he know, it wasn’t half as bad as Aline. I mean, was she even alive? Did she even have a chance of surviving? or was it a hopeless cause with a fake shred of hope Gio would keep holding on to, just like the idea of his brother ever returning.

Though on the plus side (if anything could really even be seen as good at this moment), he didn’t know what it was exactly, but something in the whole messy hell of a situation had a major impact on the boy’s somewhat poorly functioning brain. Maybe it was the fire, or the hospital, the pain, the fear of losing Luciano once again, just like the day of the accident in which he lost it all in the first place, though in a different setting and a different and much worse way of losing him… Whatever it was, that thing that triggeted the past and present deep pain in Gio’s mind, was also that thing that against all odds, brought his memories right back up from the ashes, all of them, a whole damn three years running through his poor mind all together one after the other in a hail of bullets. Let’s just say the headache was nothing less than fcuking terrible, as well as the fact that his body didn’t even know how to react to this whole change and overload on his brain, but after some good care from hospital staff as someone noticed he looked a bit pale and not exactly in his best, painkillers, oxygen, anything needed to help calm his body from his overactive mind and the pain. Was it the pain of his mind and the past coming back? Or was it the pain of the current moment? Honestly, it was probably both, which made it so much worse, but overall, it was worth it. You’re not you without your memories. Memories… Well, they are your life, they are who you are, and making new ones instead… That was never really enough, though it was better than nothing I suppose… But deep inside him, ever since the accident, all Gio truly wanted was to get his old life back, with all the bad parts and everything. Because a thing about Gio that anyone who really knew him could see, was the fact that Gio always had a thing with hope, he seemed to hold on to it no matter how dim the light at the end of the tunnel was, and sometimes, it worked in his favour.

After hours and endless hours of anxious waiting, with absolutely no knowledge of what was going on with either of them, were they alive? Were they stable? Surgery? Anything god dangit. But no, the doctors wouldn’t tell him a thing because he wasn’t family (stupid rules hmph). Eventually, their mother, Marcia, arrived at the hospital, and as the doctor pulled her aside to tell her about the current condition of her children, she started crying, and even without knowing what was told to her, Gio knew it was bad. But soon enough she told him what she knew, and it was even worse than he thought. Could she even be counted as alive? Was she… was this the last time he saw Aline?

Though knowing Luciano wasn’t as bad off as his sister was somewhat comforting, at least one of them seemed to be recovering… That was a good thing, wasn’t it?

Gio and Marcia both sat in Luciano’s room waiting for him to wake up, and as Gio sat by his bedside, right across from Luci’s mother who sat on the other side, the doctor came and went and all the two had left to do was wait… And then she spoke, reaching out across the hospital bed to hold his hand as tears rolled down her face, ”Thank you…Thank you for being there for him, if you weren’t with him, no sé lo que- Just… thank you Gio. I’m glad he… he has you.”
Gio couldn’t bring himself to properly smile at her words even though they felt good in his heart, but he held her hand and attempted a broken half smile as he looked at the miserable woman in front of him ”I’m the one who should be glad” he whispered and turned his gaze to look at the sleeping man ”This… It’s all you. You made him, and honestly I have never met anyone as amazing as your son in my whole life, you should be proud of yourself Marcia” he genuinely told her, meaning every word he said as gently caressing his head. And it was honestly true, the way Gio saw Luciano, he was truly the most amazing man alive, and somehow he had the privilege of being there and falling in love with him over and over again, never truly understanding what could he have possibly done in his life to deserve the love of this fallen angel sent to him straight from heaven.

Eventually, the boy’s eyes slowly opened, and as he looked at Gio, he told him how they should stop meeting in the hospital, and as seeing he seemed to be okay, Gio couldn’t help but let out a small smile, even if he was still worried and aching about Aline ”We really should” he told him in response, looking in his deep brown eyes he loved so much as he spoke ”I’m just happy you’re okay” he whispered, and watched as Luci and his mother reunited and hugged, right before she went to call the doctor. “Soo… What happened, exactly? My head hurts and I can’t really remember how I got here. And… where’s Ali?”
Umm… we were at the wedding, and there was a fire. We got trapped in the greenhouse and you had some ruins collapse on you… So I kind of pulled you out and then the medics brought you here” he told him, and tried to think of a way to tell him about Aline’s condition, though there was no way to ease the fact that his twin sister could be dying at this very moment. ”Aline… She’s… Not so good honestly… Her heart is beating, though she’s unconscious and ventilated right now, but the doctors are trying their best, I bet she would be fine in no time” he said, but did he really believe his own words or was he just hopelessly trying to convince himself and Luci that she was going to be okay?

”Are you… okay? ” Gio asked him as he reached over to gently hold his hand ”I was so worried… I guess… I thought I might lose you again…” he admitted, looking at the man in front of him, who he had loved so much and now with his memories back, he really understood for real just how much he truly loved him. But he did, and by the way it seemed, he probably wasn’t ever going to stop loving him ”But you know… I love you Luc, I really do. I won’t let anything happen to you again… I-” he quietly told him, still a bit flustered from everything going on ”I’m sorry…” he added, genuinely.

The last day of Senior Year. A day no one thought they would live to see. Despite only being 9 months, the class had gone through a whole lifetime full of experiences before they had even reached adulthood. And so, after graduating they could finally take the exhale of freedom from Cerulean High. Though there was still one thing tying them t each other which was Blue Royalty. Awaiting the final results of the game, the seniors came together in the same place they started for a party, as a way to say goodbye to each other before embarking on their next journey - that may be determined by the results that were later to come.

“Well, it’s not exactly intentional-”

She was still Delilah; arguing with anyone and everyone even in situations where she was clearly in danger. Though could he blame her for it? No… if Dan was in a similar situation; he’d do the exact same thing. It was natural to be more like yourself even in the face of danger. Some would run cough DeLoughrey, Azure, and a list of other names, and some would walk into a burning building to save those in need. That’s what he was doing. Though his intention wasn’t Delilah; he wasn’t going to just leave the girl there. No matter how much she was practically yelling at his statement of say something which could you blame him? God.

As he reached the last two beams; both heavy enough to… well… kill someone under their weight; his mind was already working through an escape plan for Delilah. “That’s not helpful D, but we don’t really have much of a choice.” Daniel started; going to the other side of the hole that he had already cleared. He opened his phone light and pointed towards the side of the hole where he was standing. “I need you to get as close to the wall here as you possibly can. Hug the fcking wall. I don’t care. Just make sure that you’re skin is as close to that as you can get,” Dan stated; watching as she did as he requested… though it took her longer than it should have. “Close your eyes, Delilah,” Dan said; not because he was worried but because he didn’t want the dust to scratch her cornea. And with that; Daniel kicked the side of the beam; the instability of the whole thing making it fall to the opposite side of Delilah barely inches from her body.

With that; Dan ignored the dust smoke mixing with the smoke from the flames and got to his knees so that his hands could reach her. “Delilah, grab on, hold on tight,” Dan said watching as she grabbed both of his hands and using what strength he had to pull her on top of him… which led to the comment… “So we haven’t done this position in a while huh?” in a joking manner; a cough leaving his lips. "Jokes aside; come on. We need to leave before this whole place falls to the ground, Standing up; he grabbed her hand pulling the girl and weaving her past the fire to the exit. His only worry was his family which… at this point, he could only hope had made it out since the moment he got back out he found firefighters approaching both of them and pulling them in the direction of one of the many ambulances; despite Dan trying to fight back to go inside. Which resulted in a very… intriguing close space encounter with Delilah in the back of an ambulance with just the two of them breathing in oxygen from a mask. A talk that did result in him saying “I’m sorry” For the millionth time though… that’s a private conversation the likes of you RPers would never be a part of. After all; Dan couldn’t let you all see he had a good side. No sir.

Timeskip: June 25th

One week. That’s how long it had been since the fire and how long it was until they all sat in seats awaiting the chance to walk across that stage and receive a diploma. And thankfully… everyone Dan cared about was Daniel was… surprise surprise… Valedictorian. Though could you blame him; he may have skipped class more than once but Dan could take any make up test and make a perfect score without trying. And Daniel did love making that graduation speech; one filled with “THANK GOD I never have to see MOST oof you ever again.” Dan usually wouldn’t have cared about giving special mentions to people like DeLoughry and McAllister but Jessica had a talk with him before after finding his speech and told him to clean up his act so… sigh he did. It was still a pretty damn good speech.

And now; there he was. A full circle. Senior year started off at a party of the Rockefeller Residence and it ended there as well. Walking inside; Dan have had given a ride to Jezebel and separating ways at the door - Dan had an immediate inclination to go to the bar. In a month; Daniel and Jessica will be getting settled into London for their future would be tied into Oxford. Jezebel was staying in Beryl to work with Justin Parker in his main office and… take care of Laurel if she survived. His family was separating… in a way… but they wouldn’t ever be out of their lives.

The rest of these people though… well Dan wouldn’t be able to tell. He knew Delilah had been offered a few college admissions but she hadn’t accepted yet; likely to spend time with her dad. The gag McAllisters had a kid on the way so they’d be busy with that. DeLoughry would, thank the lords have a million miles between him and Jessica (though with the two datings he was really hoping the distance would break the two up before he had to step in and work some magic). Val would be in New York with Candice at NYC. Lost in his thoughts; Dan saw a familiar girl nearby and asked for another drink from the bartender with one purpose. “So, Mare,” Dan stated; walking towards his friend with a smile. “There’s a little rumor going around the rumor mill that I’m… well I’m really hoping it’s not true.” Dan started; taking a sip of his scotch as he looked at her. “I heard you’re pregnant,” Dan said. “But if it is a lie…” Dan continued; holding the martini up to her to see if she would take it. Though a sigh of disappointment left his lips. “Nothing against you Mare. I’m sure you and Theodore would make great parents or whatever. I was just hoping you were smarter than the other highschool bozos that got knocked up,” he sighed - in a way, mentioning both Mikel and Jezebel along with Andy and Ketziah.

Have you ever felt like your world was falling apart? Piece by piece? Like everything you thought you knew was a lie and all that’s left is this feeling of nothingness. That’s how Jordan Williams felt in this moment walking away from the girl he never stopped loving. From a girl who had truly just broken his heart. Nothing compared to the pain he was feeling now; not Jordan’s father threatening to kill him, not having to leave Jezebel in the first place… nothing. Perhaps there was a life where Jordan would have ended up with Jezebel; the two of them with a little baby in tow. Maybe this hurt so much because Jezebel knew how much Jordan wanted a family. It was something they had talked about often. Sometimes even about their own possible kids. So to learn that Jezebel was pregnant with his baby and had never told him. Forget the abortion or anything else; what hurt Jordan the most was just not being told in the first place. For two years. She lied to him. And now… Jordan Williams truly could not look at her the same way.

Tears continued to stream down his eyes as Jordan walked away. He didn’t know where he was going he just… couldn’t be here anymore. Though his heart broke more when he heard her voice.

"Jordan…please… let me… let me explain…”

He stilled as she caught up to him; though Jordan couldn’t turn around to face her… he couldn’t even look at her. He found his hand moving towards his face and a soft grunt leaving his mouth. “Jezebel…” Jordan whispered. It was the first time he said her full name to her in a long time. Usually; Jordan always said Jez or Tinkerbell… but now he couldn’t. He couldn’t even get the word out. Turning towards her; Jordan faced her with tear-stricken eyes. “I just don’t get… after everything we’ve been through, Jezebel, everything. You never told me. If you had told me; I would have been there for you through anything. Though any choice you wanted to make. But you kept me in the dark for two years,” he muttered; his voice bearly above a whisper. “I can’t… do it, Jezebel. I can’t… look at you… I just,” he sighed giving her one last look before turning around and walking away again. His heart breaking as he left.

One week. One week and he hadn’t talked to Jezebel. He barely mentioned anything to Riker or anyone… for that matter. Jordan just… stayed away. He really couldn’t look at her anymore because every time he did; Jordan only saw the girl who lied to him. Perhaps that’s why he avoided her at all costs at graduation. Though despite that; Jordan was attempting to not have it affect his relationship with Sadie. Giving the girl all his love and affection he possibly could.

And now he found himself at an afterparty; avoiding her once again. Though through all of it - a small smile met his lips when he saw Ziah nearby. Walking towards the girl, Jordan tapped her left shoulder before ducking under her right so she didn’t see him. “Wrong way,” Jordan joked; standing in front of her with a joking smile. “How are you feeling Z?” Jordan asked; a question that he meant on more than one level - not only her health but… also the baby. A reminder of something that… Jordan really didn’t want to think about.

It was strange; to change so much of yourself in the matter of a few weeks. For so long Anna’s hated Jessica but ever since the girl revealed the misunderstanding that Anna had believed for so long; she’s been trying to be better. To do better. And she had been trying… perhaps she wasn’t the best at it but she was getting there. Including being a supportive sister at Jessica’s graduation and cheering the girl on. The girl could still barely walk; going up to 30 minutes without collapsing but she was getting there. Though it still hurt to know that she was partly responsible for her sister’s pain… not only physical pain at that. Though; Anna was trying to keep both at bay - which included keeping Kai away from the girl. Perhaps Anna did have a part in Jess’ pain; but no matter what Kai said, he also did.

Anna was in the car with Jessica; talking with the girl as they arrived at the party. “Are you sure you’ll be okay? Do you need your wheelchair or…” Anna started; going off into a rant. Though Jess simply laughed with the words “I’ll be fine Anna; I’ll make sure to sit somewhere,”

Helping her sister up; the two of them walked into the party - separating with a few moments as Jess went to talk to that Andy dude… who Anna didn’t necessarily like that much either. Though that was an issue for another time. Instead; Anna walked over to the bar - asking for a shot. Though as she stood there she found a girl nearby that caused her immediate recognition. Valerie Wood. The two were supposed to meet a few days ago; though with the small Instagram argument, both canceled the meet-up. Taking the shot; Anna walked over to the girl with a soft smile on her lips. “You know… you always did have a way of calling attention to you in any room,” Anna stated; looking at the girl. “Can we talk somewhere… quieter?” Anna asked softly, sighing. “Look I know we’ve had our problems but we should still talk about it”

There is a lot that can be said about the sixteenth of June, 2020, both good and bad. From happy couples proposing and lovers reuniting to a loveless marriage, fights and an all eating fire. But for Valerie, that day was a day of loss, a day where Valerie’s family started crumbling apart in her hands.

Valerie herself was okay, she easily recovered from the damage caused to her body by the fire, and so did most of them. But as Valerie listened to the names of the people who didn’t survive, two names caught her attention as she felt a piece of her heart break. Angela Wood, and Aline Ribeiro.

Family isn’t something you get to choose, it’s there, and it is what it is. Until you lose them.
And in that day, Valerie lost two (three?) people in her family, tho she technically didn’t lose Kai he was just far and busy and more guarded than he ever was, but in a way she felt like she lost him, like he was taken away from her and they could never be close again.

Her mother… well, that was a complicated story. But as much as she was a monstrous b!tch who practically ruined her daughter’s life, she was still the woman who gave birth to her and gave her a roof over her head and food to eat. Angela Wood never really liked her daughter, and frankly it was mutual, but as Valerie heard her mother didn’t make it, she couldn’t help but feel sad.

Yet another person on the list of unfortunate lost souls, was Aline. The girl who was her friend yet recently discovered that she was in fact family. A feisty young soul who honestly in a way Valerie looked up to, heartlessly killed by the never ending fire that burned down the castle, and the possibility of that day being associated with good things right along with it.

It all went down in flames, and from one funeral, to another, Valerie seemed to understand for real why she hated funerals so much. They hurt, and they weren’t as real as they look. Because when Valerie was asked to make a speech at her mother’s funeral, she had no idea what she could possibly say. And that was the thing about funeral speeches, they were fake. They showered the dead person with words implying how much of a perfect angel they were, and how everyone loved them and the memorable things they have done in their lives even if they were absolute d!ckheads that haven’t done a single good thing in their life.

So she didn’t, Valerie refused to make a speech at her own mother’s funeral, and life went on like nothing. With a heaviness in her heart for everything that was lost, but life still has to move on, doesn’t it?
And life indeed moved on, and the awaited day of graduation has finally arrived. Robes and diplomas, Speeches and one particularly cute valedictorian, overall, that day went surprisingly well considering the circumstances.

And like every fancy school event, an after-party was always in order, and as Valerie stood at the bar at the Rockefeller Residence, a drink in hand, a familiar voice in a different tone caught her attention with an unexpected compliment. Anna Pierce, the one girl that as much as she tried, Valerie still didn’t seem to understand. The two were supposed to meet up for brunch a few days ago and talk, but that plan went a little off track so it never happened. But Valerie did in fact want to have that talk, she wanted closure, she wanted to hear what Anna possibly have to say to redeem herself.

“Can we talk somewhere… quieter? Look I know we’ve had our problems but we should still talk about it”
Valerie downed her drink and looked around in an attempt to find someplace quiet so the two could talk, though the fact that there had already been a party there before, Valerie remembered a side room that could fit the part “We should” she agreed and put her empty cup on the bar as the bartender just refilled it with no words or questions “Follow me” she told her and started walking away, no emotion whatsoever in her tone as she spoke. The two made it into a room, and closed the door behind. Valerie rested her back against a wall and turned to actually look at the girl for more than a split second probably for the first time since she came to her at the bar “You wanted to talk, then talk” she said

Dominic Lucier

Dominic walked up to the Rockefeller Residence, still processing the fact that hours before, he’d graduated from Cerulean High School. Four years ago, he hadn’t even planned on starting freshman year, let alone finishing his senior year. His parents had of course, attended the ceremony, and he spent some time with them before heading off to the party, his dad assuming his usual role of being a bumper between Dom and his mother.

As he entered the party, he recognized the poetry of them ending their year at the same place they started it. He knew that it was most likely the last time he’d ever see most of these people, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t at least a little sentimental. Once the party ended, everyone would be going their separate ways.

He made his way through the crowd, mixing in with his classmates. As he walked, he spotted Maverick. Heading towards him, he contemplated what he was going to say to him, whether or not he was going to mention the kiss at the wedding. “Hey, Maverick.” He said with a small smile, trying to act as if what he saw never happened.

Ketziah Drake

The day of the royal wedding had been crazy to say the least. The fire had done so much damage. So many were injured, and not all survived, but Ketziah would only remember the best part of that day moving on. Even on a day that was full of trauma for most, it was still the day she got engaged to the man she loves. Now, a week had gone by, and it was graduation day. Senior year was officially over, and soon everyone would be going on with their own lives, but in true cerulean high fashion, where would they be without one last party? When she felt a tap on her shoulder, she immediately turned, only for Jordan to go around the other way. She laughed then smiled at Jordan. “Fit as a fiddle.” Ketziah said jokingly. Really though, she felt alright, at least as alright as one could feel with kidney failure, and being 13 weeks pregnant. “I’m absolutely exhausted, but I’m feeling good though, better than I’ve been in a few weeks so that’s a plus.” Ketziah said with a smile. She didn’t know why, but she knew Jordan well enough to know something was off, so she spoke further in a lighthearted manner. “So mr.copycat, I’ll turn that question around to you. How are you feeling? About life, graduation, your current physical and mental state, anything.”

It was her graduation day. The day she was supposed to spend with her best friends and their journey after high school. Perhaps even take a gap year to just hangout with one another before separating. The ones she no longer has. After Tala dropped off from the world and disappeared, it hurt Aline and Mare. Especially Mare since they’ve known each other since they were practically babies. She was gone and just like that the trio went down into a duo. She knew she could rely on Aline for anything. They had each other forever, at least they thought. There were very few that Mare couldn’t get ahold of Dan and Aline. Dan eventually got back to her, letting her know he was okay, but Aline never did.

*Flashback *

Mareena sat in her room lying on her bed as she stared at her phone. She must’ve texted Luci and Aline more than a dozen times without receiving a single text back that they were okay. She bit her nails out of nervousness. If she wasn’t pregnant, she probably would’ve pulled out a smoke to try and calm her nerves. Anything to take her mind off this constant worrying and panicking she has been going through for the past hours since the fire at Listaria. Eli had to stay in his room since the smoke in his lungs was still a bit much for him. Even from the other room , he called her to check up on her from time to time even though she was already crying. What if they were really dead? She never got to even tell Aline she was pregnant, but her children would know of her. There she went talking as if she was already dead. Once she heard her phone ring, she jumped. Almost throwing it across the room. The caller ID was… Marcia, their mother. She composed herself and took a deep breath before answering. “Hi… Ms.Marcia? What’s wrong? Are they okay?” After that she filled Mare in, leaving her fears to come to life. Luci would be okay, but Aline… she was brain dead. She was relieved with Luci being okay, but her heart broke when she heard about Aline. As much as she tried to hold in her sobs, she couldn’t help but let them out. Elias burst into her room, developing her into a hug before taking the phone from her and giving his condolences about Aline then hanging up. She couldn’t believe it. From a trio to a duo and now she is alone. They’re both gone from her life and Mareena didn’t want to believe it.

End of Flashback

Mare had gone to seen Aline the next day. Just talking to her about things. She finally got to tell her she was pregnant before telling her about her thoughts and how strange things are now. Especially how she wasn’t gonna be by her side during graduation… anymore. Even if she couldn’t move or even react to what Mare was telling her, it was still somewhat comforting. She was right here, but she won’t ever wake up. Soon after Ms.Marcia called off the Ventilater, letting everyone say their goodbyes. Then came the funeral, she didn’t even want to go to it. Although she still got dressed and attended the funeral. Even getting asked to say something at her funeral, which she did. Talking about one of their memories at a fair. it was her favorite.

Mareena couldn’t stop laughing that night as they ran away from this guy. Aline grabbed one of the fish you could win and sprinted, so did Mare. The two were practically peeing their pants from it. She pulled Aline behind one of the canopys as they watched the guy fly by them. “Well look at that. We are quite good.” She held out a fist bump as the girl returned it. “I think I’ll name this little guy… bubbles. Cliche, I know.” Mare laughed and flipped her hair over her shoulder. That was just the beginning of the night, but the rest she really shouldn’t share with her family and friends.

Before their Graduation ceremony, she visited her again. Just saying her goodbyes and miss yous once again considering she was leaving for college soon and wouldn’t be able to visit again for a little while. It’s supposed to be a happy day, but for her it was quite an emotional one too. Although she soon had to leave to go to the ceremony. It was fun as she cheered on her friends and Theo. Practically screaming as a few went across the stage even if a ton of parents shushed her. Now all of her classmates were meeting back up where it all started to have a, well… goodbye party. As she arrived, Dan soon approached her stating something about a possible rumor. Needless to say she figured out what he was talking about quickly. Mare let out a slight gasp. She shook her head, tilting it down slightly. She wasn’t ashamed of being pregnant but it wasn’t necessarily considered a good thing since she is so young. And she sensed Dan felt the same. "Well you aren’t wrong… I just wish it wasn’t a rumor. I wanted to tell everyone on my own terms,"She sighed, brushing fray hairs out of her face. She took a sip of her mocktail,“Thanks, I guess. We weren’t reckless Dan. I was on birth control so don’t ask me how it happened. Either way, it isn’t a terrible thing considering you’ll be an uncle.” The ending phrase bringing the corners of her mouth up into a light, but tight lipped smile before falling back off her face.

As she already knew, Daniel pointed out that her depiction of the size was not entirely helpful. Unfortunately for him, Delilah didn’t have time to get out the tape measure and give completely accurate results. While he was telling her what to do, Delilah looked up at what he was about to knock onto the floor and she immediately filled with sceptical thoughts. “Are you kidding me, Daniel? That is going to land straight on me,” She declared, convinced he hadn’t thought this through, but he ignored and told her to close her eyes - probably so she didn’t have to watch it kill her. Though she did it anyway.

The beam fell at a dangerous force, landing with a crash that made Delilah jump and she was so convinced it would she could almost feel it hitting her and knocking her to the ground. However when she slowly opened her eyes, it hadn’t. It had been seriously close to doing so, yes, but it hadn’t and she was still stood, very much alive. And now she could see Daniel a lot clearer than before.

After needing a moment for her being alive still to actually sink in, Delilah took Daniel’s hands and was pulled out of the hole - suddenly being a lot closer to Daniel than when separated by flames. That being addressed by him, she gave an eyeroll that hid a small smile. Delilah eyerolling to a playful Daniel comment. It had been a while. Coughing as she stood up, Delilah followed him as the walls around her began to cave in and disintegrate to ashes. The main indication they had reached outside was the fresh air that her lungs were yearning for.

As soon as they were completely out of the castle, they were surrounded by firefighters, all faces of which becoming a blur through her eyes until she was in the back of an ambulance, once again, slightly too close to Daniel. And they actually talked, through the oxygen masks they had been given. A conversation that didn’t end with either of them leaving, and not just because they had no choice. One that ended with Delilah almost instinctively hugging him - which was almost more of a lean from the amount of energy drained in the past events. She did so because, despite everything, she loved him.

June 25th

The day that Delilah had depended on for most of her life finally came. Graduation. More significantly, the day Blue Royalty 2020 was announced - supposedly with her being front and centre of that list. This was supposed to be the most important day of her life. It would be the day her life began, and Delilah would finally be completely happy, because when she became Blue Royalty, it didn’t matter that her father was a convicted felon and her mother didn’t want her.

But when she arrived at Rockefeller Residence, the same place it had all started, it almost solidified how much that had changed. Maybe it had been the fact that she was wrong about her father, or the fact that people she tormented for years somehow forgave her, or the fact that she must care enough about certain people to feel completely betrayed by them. Somewhere down the line, Blue Royalty’s importance had slowly declined.

Weaving through the no-longer-seniors, all here for the later announcement of the final winners, Delilah stopped at someone who was stood by themselves. Someone who, at the last party in the same place, she wouldn’t be seen dead willingly talking to. “So… what do you say about this?” Was her opening line as she stood beside Dorian DeLoughrey, though facing the crowd of people rather than him. “You stay here, enjoy the party, and I’ll… go look around?” She asked, before finally switching her glance to him.

Graduation. The day she always wanted but didn’t know would be so bittersweet. No more classrooms, no more sneaking her phone under the desk. It was finally here and she was happy. Her mom and dad made sure to get as many pictures as possible of her with her cap and gown. She didn’t even feel the need to pose this time, just look adorable and smile, and that’s exactly what she did while walking the stage and shaking the teachers hands. She didn’t even like most of the teachers at the school, and they were probably glad to see her go. She took pictures with the other students that she actually liked and realized that she couldn’t share this moment with Elodie and now she knew why. Her “friend” had actually exposed her and a fight ensued. It was not a good feeling to lose two friends but there was nothing she could do about it. It was best for her not to dwell on it and instead focus on the after-party for graduation…that Elodie was going to be at. Either way, she didn’t want to waste this opportunity to show off one of her outfits and maybe flirt with some guys. When she finished getting dressed and everything she drove herself over to where the party was being held. The Rockefeller Residence. She had some…interesting memories there. When she got there, she started mingling with some guests, particularly the Jocks, cheerleaders and preppy kids, and that one girl who she wasn’t going to miss but pretend she would anyways. and grabbed herself a drink. She really didn’t like the feeling of having unresolved issues, so no matter how much she tried to distract herself it still didn’t work.

“Hey Brenen, can you ask Elodie to talk to me.”

“Uh, Why?”

“It’s complicated, just do it.”

Brenen proceeded to walk up to Elodie and tap her on the shoulder. “Ummm… I don’t know why I’m doing this but, Kara wants to talk to you.” he pointed to where Kara was standing in the corner, with sad eyes.

Graduation was a bittersweet experience, and it felt surreal that he might be seeing most of these people for the last time. It definitely would have been a better experience if his mom was there watching him graduate, but his dad made sure to make up for it by hyping him up and pictures. When he heard the news about Aline’s death, it definitely put a damper on his day, and he wondered how Luciano felt, but he tried to be positive and not think about another student at Cerulean high being severely injured. Instead, he chose to focus on the after-party at Rockefeller Residence, where he could directly talk to people and have nostalgia for the beginning of the year. It probably wasn’t going to be the last big party the students at the school would have, though. At the party, he started talking to some of the classmates he was going to miss. Most of them being jocks and the preppy kids. Oh, and that one smart guy that helped him (did) his homework that time. Then, he went to talk to Zion, one of the people he got to really meet during senior year. He still considered her a friend, even though they didn’t talk since secret santa. “What’s up Zion? How was graduation for you?” He asked.

The week after the wedding was an… well… emotional and physical rollercoaster for most people… one which easily included Jessica Pierce. For one; Kai had gotten married and after a brief text to him… they both found it was best if they blocked each other. There were no words to describe how much it hurt seeing him in magazines, the daily newspaper… social media. It was as if everywhere she looked; she found a picture of the new Prince staring at her. But that was the problem. While to everyone else; he was a new prince of a kingdom… an interesting story. To Jess; he was and always be a man she once loved. And honestly… it just hurt too much to do it anymore. Part of Jessica would always love Kai, though another part of her would constantly remind her of the pain he put her through. It was an endless cycle… but the one thing Jess always wanted was for him to be happy. No matter what had happened between the two… she did want that for him.

Then there was Aline’s death. Though Jessica hadn’t had the opportunity to get close to the girl since her departure four years earlier; the memories of the brief friendship the two had did make her heartache. Especially with her nearly photographic memory; everything that had happened with the two of them felt as if it was only a few days ago. And hearing that the fire had killed her… especially when Jess and Valerie could have been in the same position… that pained her in every sense of the word.

On the topic of the fire; her physical injuries didn’t help. The smoke inhalation slowed down progress on Jess’ physical therapy and the stitches she broke… well… let’s just say it hurt the pain was unimaginable and took ramping up her drug dosage by quite a bit.

Though it wasn’t all downhill, in retrospect, there was one shining light in all of it. And perhaps many people wouldn’t believe her… she knew Dan wouldn’t… but Dorian DeLoughry was helping her get through it all. In his own way. Their relationship had gotten back to a new normal… in a way integrating both their prior friendship with… uncharted territories. And… it was… truly… uncharted. Jess already loved him; there was no denying that fact. She had since she was 14-years-old and kissed him in that game of 7 minutes… but actively dating was a new ballpark altogether. Though; that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. There was something about being with Dorian that made Jessica… naturally happy.

The man wasn’t wrong when he told her he had something special planned for their first date. Jessica couldn’t help the neverending smile on her features when he took her around to her favorite fast-food restaurants and let her order one thing from each of them to go on a…somewhat impromptu picnic. Thank god her doctor had finally given approval for solid food. Though… her doctors probably didn’t expect her to eat a month’s worth of food in one day. But what could they expect?

And it wasn’t just food that she… enjoyed that day. Though… one shouldn’t speak about such things in polite company so let your imagination sour about that one…

Timeskip:

Walking down the stage for a diploma was a feat in itself for Jessica recently, but she had done it. Maybe not with the best grades… though what could she say? She wasn’t supposed to be back at Cerulean High in the first place if it wasn’t for Kai. But here she was; now headed to an afterparty with Anna who was worried about her health. Though it took a little convincing; the two girls had started driving over with the intention of stopping by before having their own little celebration with Jezebel and Daniel.

Walking inside; Jessica smiled at a few people she recognized. Though she usually would have gone to the bar and drowned at least one shot… her medication didn’t exactly allow for it. So instead she found herself navigating towards a more interesting; tall-ass tattooed man. Jess walked up from his back and gently wrapped her arms around his stomach; not making the effort to jump and give him a tight hug because she physically couldn’t. “Hey high school graduate,” Jess whispered; allowing him to turn around to face her. She saw the drink in his hand and sighed. “God what I would do for one of those…” she whispered though she moved her gaze from his drink to his eyes. “Where’s my ring pop today McNugget?” Jess questioned jokingly. “I think graduating deserves a ring to your ex wife.”

“What would you know about being a decent person? Try that yourself before you complain about others like a little b!tch.”
Wow, look who was talking. “I’m a decent person, thank you for noticing,” he didn’t even give her a chance to finish what she was saying before interrupting her with that, a sarcastic chuckle escaping his lips as he walked over to Jessica. He didn’t want to be here, at this disaster wedding, a wedding of someone he didn’t like and he definitely didn’t want to be stuck with Valerie so he did his best to just ignore the girl and focus on someone much important than her.

Even if he was annoyed because of everything that happened, because of the fight, Valerie, Jess being there when she shouldn’t be, a weak smile met his lips as he looked down at Jessica’s hand that was on top of his. Worrying about her while she was just joking and… reveling how Valerie saved her. Not what he was expecting and not something he knew how to react to. He should be grateful or… “What a hero,” but that’s not what he showed. Or at least he didn’t say it. He tried to remain emotionless in front of her but you could, for a second, catch him smiling to himself.

“I don’t… want to worry you but,” Dorian quietly started, looking away from Jess towards the castle… or just what he could see of it from the inside of the truck before his gaze landed on Valerie and Candice that showed up… when? “I think Daniel ran back in.”

So… graduation. Finally? It was a day he was patiently waiting for since the begging of school year because of this game. A game he was so invested in at the beginning but now… that excitement wasn’t the same. Did he really need it? No. He had something going for him after high school and as much as he wanted to prove himself, it wasn’t that important. There was still a little hope but it just didn’t matter. And it wasn’t just his soccer plans, Dorian was genuinely happy with his life. A part of it, at that moment… A big part of it, actually. Jessica just always played a huge part in his life and the happiness she brought to him before could not compare to it now. It felt like it was the first time he was dating someone he knew he loved.

And about his friends? Well, Daniel wasn’t wrong. There were not many people he liked, not many people that liked him and those that did he would still be in touch with but… he didn’t really have that many friends. Maybe that’s why he was on the side at the party, minding his own business before Delilah appeared next to him, with a great opening line. Dorian looked away from her towards the crowd of people in front of them, laughing lightly. “Yeah, that works for me,” he joked, recalling her words from the wedding. “What do you want, Delilah?” Turning to face her, he tried to hide his playful smile and act as if he was annoyed just for the sake of good old times. Because it was weird seeing how much things changed. How he was around his… new friend now and what it was like at the beginning of the year. She really wasn’t that bad.
