“You know, an apology would just be a lot easier,”
Daniel laughed at the comment, raising his eyebrow at the girl in front as he thought about her statement. In his lifetime - Daniel had only said sorry five times. Most of those times were when he was a 6-year-old miscreant. “An ‘apollo-gee?’” he asked, purposefully messing up the word. “Never heard of it,” he continued with a cheeky laugh - an attempt to make the girl laugh, or at the very least, lighten the situation up. However, in all honesty, it was more nervous rambling than anything else. Suffice to say, Daniel Parker had never been in a clinic waiting for someone to get this specific procedure done.
Some quick Instagram photo banter later, the Doctor had finally walked in. It was hard not to notice the blatant removal of Delilah’s hand from his own - however, Daniel tried not to take it to heart. After all, Delilah and him… were nothing more than “friends with benefits” and the ‘friend’ part of the scenario was never concrete… perhaps ‘acquaintances with benefits’ was a more fitting term.
“Well that wasn’t so bad…Well, of course, it wasn’t for you, all you had to do was sit on a chair.”
“Would you have rather that I did the surgery instead of sitting in the waiting room? I mean, I have absolutely no idea how to do a surgery, but if you wanted me to be more involved…” he explained with a joking smile as they walked back to the courtyard. Almost immediately in view, Daniel found his helicopter still sitting in the middle of the courtyard - security trying to argue with his pilot to leave.
“I should… probably go before Renolds gets arrested… I… Delilah if you ever need anything… I’ll be there. I’m just a text away,” he explained, scratching his head as he waved goodbye - unsure of what else he could say to make this moment less awkward.
“Please, Stephanie and Abby have got nothing on me,”
Shanking his head with laughter, Daniel did a one-over of the girl in front of him and allowed his eyes to trail her body. She wasn’t wrong - not many people in the school could compare to Delilah. However, Daniel wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of his agreement. “I guess… I’ll see you around then?” he questioned instead - placing his hands in his pocket as he sent a wink in her direction before walking away. Though Daniel would never say it out loud, it was clear that things weren’t the same between the two of them. Sure, Daniel made the same jokes; but there was something so… different now with what happened… even if neither of them would admit to it.
