As Val mentioned the unfairness of the whole situation, Candice nodded ever-so-slightly. Though, she knew it was, indeed, unfair - Candice had gotten used to her mother’s quirks over the years. Not to mention there were other people dealing with a lot worse than having an overbearing mother who did still provide a good education and job security. But… this was probably just Candice making excuses for her mother at this point.
“I’m considering kidnapping you honestly…I’ll kidnap you and keep you in my room they’ll never find you”
A laugh escaped Candice’s lips as she leaned on Val’s stomach - “As much as I would love that, Val, at this point - I wouldn’t be surprised if I have a tracking chip on me somewhere,” Though saying it in a joking tone - Candice knew the real reason she would… could never rebel against her mother. The threat of what her mother had explicitly told her she would do still looming over her mind.
“Oh no… like physically there are worse, but like- no.”
“Trust me Val, I know. But I was drunk off those little jello shots at the after-party and I honestly just remember waking up next to him in the morning,” Candice muttered - “Though at least he hasn’t said anything yet. But you aren’t wrong about him being toxic.”
“I’ve missed you too Val - thanks for sneakin…” Candice started, though before she could finish the sentence she heard someone trying to get into her room - though as it was locked, the individual was halted in the process. “Candice - why is your room locked? Open the door this instant,”
Speak of the devil. Candice pointed to her closet, trying to tell Val to hide in there. “The second floor,” Candice whispered - a precaution in case her mother decided to rummage through her two-story closet - which happened quite often.
“One-second mom, sorry! I think I fell asleep for a second and I must have accidentally locked the door,” Candice yelled as Val made her way towards the closet. Once her friend was inside, Candice opened her bedroom door to her mother who looked at her appearance. "Why aren’t you ready yet?:
Looking at her clothes, Candice realized she was still in her pajamas and sighed, “Sorry… As I said, I fell asleep but I can go get changed now.” CC told the woman, though there seemed to be a slight… skepticism on her face. “Fine love. Good news; the photographers told me their main model dropped out and they need someone to help with a nude shoot as well - It’ll be the new “Kim Kardashian breaks the internet” extravaganza and I got you as the replacement,”
Candice’s eyes widened at the words, “Wait… mom nude? I told you I’m not okay with doing nude photoshoots,” though, from the look in her mothers eyes, her mother had already made the decision. “Well, you should have thought of that before you disobeyed me with that nobody at your school. So unless you want me to send your father to prison for the rest of his life, I suggest you listen to me Candice - Now go get changed,”
As her mother left the room, Candice could feel her heart dropping. She truly had no power against her mother. Walking towards her closet, Candice opened the door and sent a sad smile towards her friend. “Did you hear any of that?” she questioned as she walked towards a rack to grab something to wear.
@CerealKiller (Sorry this was long - just revealing some information on why Candice was doing this)
