With Sadie - before the timeskip
“Not really?” With a playful smile, he repeated what she said, staying quiet for a few seconds after. It did seem like she was just trying to carefully pick her words just to make it seem like she was agreeing with him or like she was on his side. He didn’t mind that, in fact, he was flattered she possibly wanted to make him feel better about it, but he also wanted to gain her real trust here. “It’s ok, we all like different people.” He simply added, trying to keep a genuine smile on. “It just happens that we don’t really like each other but don’t worry about that. I won’t get offended if you’re actually mad at me for making him walk away,” he added in a joking way, laughing lightly. If he knew what Lyonrad was planning to do next he wouldn’t interrupt them.
“Of course I am,” he answered enthusiastically, thinking of every opportunity prom might offer. At this point, everyone was talking about the future prom queen and king and who they might, and even if Dorian liked to believe that would be him, his chances were slim. But he deserved that, he did think he deserved that title even after the drama that happened just weeks ago, even if not a lot of people actually liked him. “It’s going to be one of the best nights,” he quickly added with a bright smile on.
“That’s good then! And my list was…” Pausing, he tried to find the right word to describe it. “Weird? I expected something like that but I guess I was still surprised." Shrugging his shoulders, he chuckled. It just felt wrong seeing Delilah on top of his list but he remembered Sadie was third on his list, and what a perfect moment to mention that. “Hey, you were on my list, though! That was pleasantly surprising.”

Current day (and with Sadie again, at the end ahaha)
Instead of focusing on prom and the way he wanted to ask Sadie to go with him - it was supposed to be something sweet, but he was actually disappointed in himself and what he decided to go with - his mind was somewhere else, annoyed by his recent discovery. From the very begging of high school, their first year, he made sure Elodie was never around guys like Lyonrad but here he was now, thinking of ways to keep her away from that same person. To make everything worse - he was “working” with Daniel, a guy he disliked as much as Lyonrad. With windows rolled down, his elbow was up on the door of his car, looking out at the front door as he waited for Elodie to come out. His gaze quickly shifted to his phone as it notified him of a new DM from the one and only.
Right as he pressed the send button, he looked to the side hearing the door opening only to be greeted by Elodie’s bright smile - which he now knew the reason for. She did look happier than usual and as much as he wanted to support that, he couldn’t. He also couldn’t hide his annoyance as well as he wanted but he did manage to put on a smile right when she asked him, “What’s wrong?” He was just staring at her for a few seconds without saying anything, but that was better than immediately attacking her about her new… friendship? “I forgot something, I’ll be right back,” that was a lie. He was just trying to find a way to get to school later than usual and give Daniel time to do whatever he was planning to do. He didn’t want her to arrive early and have that free time. It wasn’t wrong, it wasn’t mean, he was just looking out for her because they all knew what Lyonrad was like.
Hysterical “We’re gonna be late,” was the first thing he heard as got back in his car. “Relax, there’s nothing to do before school anyway, and we won’t be late,” saying it thought a chuckle, he glanced at her to see her reaction before turning on his car and leaving the driveway. “Or was there something you had to do because if you did you should’ve told me,” keeping his eyes on the road, he could feel his expression getting slightly serious. He knew what she wanted to do, or what she might’ve done if they got to school when they usually did. “No,” the hesitancy in her voice made him chuckle as he shifted his gaze to her, only to see she was staring out of the window, playing with her new necklace.
“Uhm… unlock the door,” leaning back in his seat as they arrived, he just watched Elodie struggling to opened the door before she turned to face him, with a confused look on her face. But she could probably tell something was going on as she let go of the door handle and looked to the side, avoiding his eyes. “What’s going on with you and,” pausing for a second and crossing his arms, he shook his head, not believing he was actually about to say this. “Lyonrad?” Of course, she wouldn’t be able to figure out what he was really trying to do here. This conversation was supposed to happen no matter what - with prom about to happen and without it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” simply shrugging her shoulders, she looked back at him with a sweet smile, playing innocent. “You do know what he is like, right? Are we really gonna ignore that anonymous message? He killed someone, Elodie.” Leaning slightly forward, his voice raised and he could feel himself getting angrier by every second sitting there with her. “He didn’t kill anyone. And I thought you wanted to forget all about those messages?” She didn’t like conflicts, it was obvious how uncomfortable she was, but she was never afraid to talk back to Dorian. He never liked or appreciated that, especially now when they were talking about something very serious. Leaving everything up to Daniel, at least for now, he unlocked the door and looked away, letting her walk away. But while he could still see her, he quickly messaged Daniel letting him know they were there.
Entering school, Dorian tried to look as casual as possible while his gaze wandered around, hoping to spot Elodie or Daniel, maybe even Lyonrad. If he saw him he wouldn’t hesitate to talk to him in a calm manner, it would just be another distraction but it didn’t seem like that was meant to happen. “Woah,” as he walked around the corner he almost bumped into a girl, immediately lifting his hand to her waist as a reflex. But seeing who it was, he smiled, shaking the thoughts of his sister away and focusing on the girl in front of him, Sadie. “What a coincidence, I was looking for you.” Chuckling, he moved his hand and placed it in his pocket. “I wanted to talk to you, if you have time?”
