I was going to be the prettiest girl at the party.
I tightly pressed the curling wand to set tight curls into the hair that I had just straightened with an ecstatic smile, imagining all of the fun we were going to have in front of my early 2000s big bulb vanity mirror. The led lights in my room were bright pink and everything just felt right. Into place. I always put special effort into social events. They are oxygen to my lungs. And I want to make sure everyone is having a good time. The music would get everyone dancing, we’d all look at our most confident. I always have high hopes now matter how many times I end up disappointed. It’s who I am, I’ll never lose hope. Plus, it’s blue royalty, if you can’t carry a party yourself you can surely hire somebody to do it. Actually that’s kind of a good idea- For later. I giggled, getting up from the fuzzy seated stool and pulled my jacket off of my bed like a plushie box grappler, my purple acrylics barely grazing the fabric and then I threw it over my shoulder for when I stepped out into the chilly night time weather. But for now it was my door that I left wide open.

OH, DANG IT!!
I walked back to my vanity in a quirky way and shut off my little playlist. Wouldn’t want to leave that on. By now, Mamoud has been waiting for me in the car for like eleven minutes. He’s always the first one in the car, too bad ya can’t drive! I mean, legally he can, but only legally teehee.

…a few…hours later…

I had spent most of my time so far on the dance floaaaaaaa. But now I needed to pee.
…!
I was walking around saying hi to everybody. I know everyone and everyone knows me, And I guess I was being a bit quiet but I said “Excuse me” to Elodie DeLoughrey, while navigating through the crowd. And she saw me, and she said hi, rather formally. Which frankly seemed like no way to party. “Heyyyyyyy” I smiled. I’m a hugger but she didn’t seem like she wanted one so I kept that to myself… It took me a moment to process her question. I’m like that, *sigh *. I also noticed how pretty she was up close, the spotlight shined on her when she stood in the crowd. “Wouldn’t want to be anywhere elsee.” I curiously side-eyed both ways, she seemed to be alone. “I haven’t seen you all night. How’s the party been treating you so far?” I ask in a genuinely sweet tone. Like a female relative with her hand on your arm. Desperately I wanted to get everyone dancing, but you gotta talk to em first LOL.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been this nervous.” Mamoud couldn’t relate, but he felt for him. The poor guy, he eyed the crowd and understood his nerves. He shrugged it off though, nothing really seems to bother him anymore. Nor does it deep down anywhere for him. It’s like he can’t feel pain.
“That’s okay, there’s a food table for a reason” He giggled.

“Oh, I see. I don’t think I’ve ever met you or your sister before.” “No, I’d remember you,” He paused for a second, “Nice to meet you, I am Mamoud, You’re Brandon right?” He smiled politely. He didn’t think anything of Brandon not knowing him yet, Mamoud only knows of him through mutuals. :man_shrugging:

“Anyways, are you in any sports teams or programs?” “I’m an artist” He smiled, in a friendly way. He liked talking about art. It brought peace to him. And it is something that Mam has always been passionate about so he gets this look in his eyes that lights everything up from his perspective and makes him talk really cute.

Taking another drink of her water, Candice smiled at the girl in front of her as she talked about taking all the dresses. “All in a night of fun,” CC revealed with a smile - placing the empty bottle beside her as Kara plopped down on the couch next to her. Laughter filled the air once again when Kara said the words “Oh sh$t we’re actually in someone’s room,” - only resulting in a nod from Candice. “That we are. And the 23-year-old trophy wife we just stole from will just shed a tear or two and probably get 15 dresses just as expensive as these… now try and convince me that this isn’t better than ‘marrying a rich sugar daddy,’” Candice asked, referring to Kara’s earlier statement - though both of them had already agreed marrying a rich old man was idiotic, to say the least.

However, Candice’s laughter stopped and was replaced with a mischievous smile when the girl asked her next question about how she had learned how to pick locks. “Well… that may be a story for another time when we get to know each other a little bit better and I’m a litttttttleee less tipsy… but let’s just say, it’s a skill that I’ve used more than once,” Candice stated with a wink - always having a trusty bobby pin on her person. An accessory that more than one use - her favorite.

“In any case, we look hot and there is a party downstairs calling our name.” Candice stated, a frown encompassing her features as she truly didn’t want to enter the lion’s den again where vultures - aka people - watched their every move to look for a mistake to take a photo of, or tweet about. But alas, CC was sure Kara wanted to head back to the party to partake in the Blue Royalty challenges - ones that Candice had already mentally decided she would not partake in this round. Hell, she was too drunk to even care about it anymore.

Maverick blinked a couple times before giving a slight smile. “Hey, it’s going alright. What about for you?” Maverick leaned against the wall taking a deep breath. He didn’t really want to be at the party, but he had no choice. If there was any chance at making it into the Blue Royalty, he had to be there. “Are you here because you want to be here like the rest of them, or because you have to?” Maverick grabbed a drink from a passing waiter and took a sip as he looked to his companion. Before there was even a chance to answer a girl came up to them. Clear headed or not, Maverick knew who she was. She was Dorian’s sister, Elodie. Maverick knew Dorian pretty well from the soccer team, but he didn’t know her well. “Yeah, I’m Maverick.” He answered her. Right away she wrote her number on a napkin in lipstick. He had no idea what provoked her to do that, but he decided to roll with it. With a slight smile he said, “Alright Elodie, see you around.” Maverick watched as Elodie walked off after the slightly odd encounter then turned back to his current conversation, lipstick covered napkin in hand. “I don’t really know what that was about.”

Tala Garzon

Punctuality.

If there was one thing Tala didn’t have that she has to admit to herself, it was punctuality. Somehow, even though she could remind herself, she still ended up getting late. Ugh, I need to fix myself, she thought to herself as she took off her helmet. Confident that no one might steal her helmet there, she left it hanging on one of its handlebars.

She entered the luxurious house—the place of the party—with her leather jacket still covering her jumpsuit. She wasn’t planning on leaving it with her motorcycle and helmet, and she’s got nowhere to actually place it on. Better to be safe than sorry.

Tala isn’t actually the type to be in a party at all. She found it too chaotic and crowded, and the last and first time she was in one of it was when she got a call of help from one of her friends—which turned out to be only a way to get her into a party.

Since she was only new to Cerulean High, she found no familiar faces as she walked through the steps of the house. Not that she was anxious, but it just felt weird for her to be in a party full of unfamiliar people. Well, she used to meet unfamiliar people, but she was told that the ones in a party were a mix of people she might not like.

She had no idea where she should be, but the pool was greatness to her eyes so she headed straight there. Like any other sections of the house, the pool was also filled with other people. As she went there, she took off her leather jacket and fixed her hair so that it would cover her back, tucking sectioms of it behind her ears. She stood far from the pool, with her jacket hanging from her folded arm, watching as people approached and conversed one another.

As he had expected, it was only a matter of time before someone took a seat next to him, quickly talking to the bartender. Before looking at the person, his eyes hit the ground, where he saw a puddle that was forming underneath the newly-occupied seat. So, it was no surprise to him when he looked up, with slight judgement, and saw a guy completely soaked. Calen was somewhat surprised, he had assumed that the pool outside was only for display, but, no… people actually went in it.

The person’s attention moved to him, at almost the exact time Calen’s did to him. Calen was glad to finally have the opportunity to talk to some of the guys at the new school, he guessed it would probably be easier to get into the friendship groups and inner circles - which was his current goal.

Though most people he had spoken to knew almost instantly that Calen was a new student, this nameless guy seemed to be less sure about whether or not he knew him. While he was thinking about it, Calen realised he sort of recognised him too. “I don’t know, do you?” Calen asked. He hoped that if he did recognise him, it would make it easier for Calen to befriend him.

He replied only with a laugh to her comment, as he continued to increase the distance between them. Delilah watched as Lyonrad walked away, shaking her head slowly and laughing to see him at leaving such an extraordinarily slow pace. Her staring was abruptly stopped when she rolled her eyes at his wave to her, giving no other form of response. When he went through the doors to step outside, she decided to leave the bar and advance to the centre of the dance floor, where several people looked in her direction however Delilah knew they were obviously too scared to approach her. So, for a moment, she just stood alone.

That was, until, someone approached her. Before Delilah had the chance to see who it was her eyes were covered, though she still started making guesses as to who it was. Delilah sighed, but a smile grew on her face too, knowing for certain who it was as soon as she heard his voice.

“Of course I can guess, Daniel,” She replied, moving to stand in front of him - confirming her guess was correct, unsurprisingly. Then she rubbed her nose before continuing. “I could smell that knock-off cologne from a mile away.”

Just like he thought, this unknown person standing in front of him didn’t help him at all but he did manage to make him chuckle. “You are new, aren’t you?” Saying it more as a statement and not a question, he looked back at the waiter approaching them with his drink. “I’d know about you, especially because you are here.” He did know pretty much everyone from the school and not knowing this person did make him worry a bit. He was here, meaning he was fighting for the spot and yet Dorian didn’t know anything about him; was he a serious competition? But other things were going through his mind as well, like what if he replaced him? Especially on the team even if he had no idea if he liked sports or not.

Looking up at him, as he played with the glass, he tried to shake off those thoughts and focus on trying to figure out who he was. And then it clicked. He did know about him because of social media and Mikel, they were friends. “I follow you, don’t I? H- Hunter?” He careful said, hoping he wasn’t wrong and only made himself look dumb. But that was him, he was sure about that. “Small world,” pausing for a second, he crossed his arms turning to face Calen fully with a subtle smile of victory. “I’m Dorian DeLoughrey, welcome,” turning that smile to a friendly one, he reached his hand out.

“Seems like everyone was eager to be here tonight,” quietly saying it as she tapped the glass with her short, almond-shaped nails, she looked around the venue finally spotting her brother with someone she’d never seen before. Great, unknown competition, she thought as she brought her gaze back to Safiya, managing to put on a wide smile. She started this whole thing confidently and that’s how it’s going to be till the very end, she will win no matter what others we capable of.

When Safiya asked her about the party she didn’t really know what to say. She has been focused on her tasks and getting all the points so she didn’t really care about having some fun just for the sake of having fun. And she still didn’t, she’d rather stand aside perfectly planning everything. Parties were never her thing, she did like them because everyone else did but they were never her main source of happiness. They were awkward. The only thing she liked were social events where she had to dress up and act classy. “It’s…” shrugging her shoulder with a light pout, she paused. “It’s fun. I feel like I’m on a mission and have to be aware of everything, you know?” Almost whispering, she covered her subtle smirk with a glass before taking a sip of it. She was just happy her brother was focused on this thing too and didn’t have time to always be around her.

“I’m just trying to do what I have to do,” she quickly added, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Her hair was naturally wavy so she didn’t have to worry about her curls flattening. “Also, I’m looking for some cute guys now when Dorian is too busy to scare them away,” laughing lightly, she tried to make it sound like a joke but was actually serious about it. “What about you? How’s the party been treating you so far?”

She smiled sweetly at her comment. Safiya didn’t really know what to think. She seemed like a fairly complex person. Everyone is simple at heart, but Safiya never understood why people try to hide it. All of her life, she viewed pride as the worst flaw you could have, like fear, but weaker. Because it detains you from so much, and for no reason at all. Her father was a very prideful man, and she felt bad for him, you know, most kids take their parent’s least favorite flaws for themselves, maybe to learn a lesson. But she spent most of her years at boarding school, where she didn’t always remember she had parents. Just a big system in it’s own way. So she kinda knows how to finesse strangers. It’s not hard for her, but right now, she wasn’t gonna push Elodie into something she didn’t want to do. Maybe just some convincing her to have some fun. More than

“It’s…” in Elodie’s own words. Very convincing, Elo. Her whisper made Safiya giggle, then she smiled genuinely before responding, “Nah, I was probably going to do my dares, asked to do them or not” She joked lightly with a tinge of pft in her voice. “Very cool way to think about it though.” She nodded. Safiya took a moment to imagine herself like a spy in the room, dazing off into a dream where she was dressed elegantly with a black dress and pearls, All of her movements were cautious and slow, And she had a sharp weapon strapped onto her leg. One wrong step and everything falls to ashes. But for Agent Safi, that was easy. Simply a walk in the park to take every right turn on this path of decisions that gets more narrow each time.

She looked back into Elodie’s eyes and smiled lightly with teeth. “I like it./!” She stated eagerly. She made a serious look with a playful intention and darted her eyes to the right, then shifting them back to Elo, looking for her approval, her stoic frown growing into a smile.

“I’m just trying to do what I have to do,” “Well you can’t just leave when you’re done” She raised her eyebrows / \ like so, pouting a bit concernedly. “What about dancing? You can’t go to a party and not party” Saf tilted her head down to look up at her like ‘You better get up there on the dance floor and shake some *ss because time is running out slowly.’ Not dead seriously, more like in a friendly peer pressuring way. Safiya laughed lightly when she heard about Dorian, “Nowwww we’re talkinggg” She smirked. “Let’s go outsideeee” She took her hand and shook it hyper-and-semi-impatiently. “Unless- You don’t want to.” She looked down innocently. Forgetting to mention how her hot friends were hanging out there. :woman_shrugging: “But trust me, you do” She whispered. Looking at Elo with her eyes, holding quiet anticipation that she was trying to keep in.

Kara stood up and grabbed a drink from the fridge. It certainly was true that they could replace anything that they took in this room, so Kara decided not to worry about it.
“In any case, we look hot and there is a party downstairs calling our name.”

“Ugh, well I guess it’s time to go mingle again. I think Elodie came late though.” She grabbed all of the clothes that she left in one section of the closet and picked up a pair of shoes. Then she put it in one of the huge bags in the closet so that she could carry it. “Look at how full this bag is!” Kara said to Candice while gesturing to it. She noticed that she looked a little more somber than before. “Are you still going to do your tasks?” Kara asked while picking at nails, thinking about repainting them.

“Of course I can guess, Daniel…”

Daniel’s lips turned to form into a goofy smile as the girl turned to face him. He couldn’t help but eye the dress she had worn for the party, though he made no effort to cover up the motion of ‘checking her out’ - after all, Delilah Hawthorne dressed to impress and loved all eyes on her, or at least that’s what he had gathered through multiple interactions with her over the past few years. “Wow Hawthorne,” he started, quickly covering up the surprise in his voice as he continued. “You look absolutely breathtaking… though I suppose that was the plan?” he questioned - rolling his eyes as she uttered “I could smell that knock-off cologne from a mile away”

“Really? A mile? Damn, I’ll have to put on more next time so you can find me at the very least 2 miles away,” Daniel retorted with a grin - taking a moment to stick his tongue out childishly. Though, before she could say anything else - Daniel took her hand and spun her around. “Though I wasn’t lying when I said you look great,” now, honestly, he was just trying to get on her good side to set himself up for a favor… well… more of repayment of a favor.

“Question for you, Hawthorne. My parents are hosting a launch party tomorrow night for my father’s new phone release through Apple. It’s going to be absolutely dull without someone to spice it up a little bit. Mind being my date for the horrid event? Call it repayment for the last favor you asked from me,” he stated with a smile. “And, for some reason, my parents adore you and your family and they want me to bring a plus one. So I knock two birds out with one stone and you get a nice little swag bag to add to your collection,”

Though he recognised Calen, the guy still knew he was new, and Calen began to question whether or not it was really that easy to distinguish who goes to Cerulean High and who doesn’t. Did they really have the entire senior class memorised? It was apparently so, from the certainty in his voice - and the fact that he claimed he’d know about him.

“Yeah. I’m new, I just moved, like, a few weeks ago.” Calen responded, nodding, almost in defeat - but laughing at the same time. “Try not to feel too threatened.” He half-joked, knowing that the guy’s reaction would probably tell Calen whether or not he actually was threatened by him. But of course, why wouldn’t he be?

As he sat back in the seat, the guy’s head jolted up as he came to the realisation of how they recognised each other. Of course, they followed each other on social media. After befriending Mikel, Calen had spent a short time seeing who he was friends with online so that he could get an idea of what kind of people go to Cerulean High. Calen finally remembered that he was one of those people.

“Oh, that’s it,” Calen said. Then he realised he seemed a bit unsure of whether he was correct on the surname. “Yeah, Hunter’s right. Calen Hunter.” He replied, hoping that he, like Valerie, would also recognise his last name. Then the guy introduced himself as Dorian, reaching his hand out, which Calen took to shake. “So what kind of place am I getting myself into?” He asked, hoping to get another’s perspective of Cerulean High.

“I like it./!”
“Me too,” she quickly added with a slight smirking, seeing how she reacted to that. “It makes you think what kind off tasks they all have.” Saying that, she stayed quiet for a bit, carefully looking at Safiya without making it obvious. It made her wonder what she got, what if it had something to do with her? She wanted to talk about her tasks, maybe get some advice but that wasn’t allowed. “Are they doing something because they want to or because they have to? We will never know and it sucks.” Shaking away those thoughts she giggled quietly, bitting down on her lower lip.

“What about dancing? You can’t go to a party and not party”
“I’m sorry but I hate dancing. I only like parties because they are the perfect opportunity to be noticed,” she admitted with a guilty smile on, not really caring what Safiya would think. That was the truth after all. She never experienced a real party but she wasn’t mad about that. She didn’t want to be like one of those girls that end up drinking way to much and dancing with literally anyone, that was never attractive to her. She was the type to actually care about her image and the way she acts and looks all the time. “But I can go outside. I was actually planning on doing that,” she simply nodded and smiled sweetly, looking at the direction of the pool area. “It looks really pretty.” She though that pool was there only to make things look nicer and fancier but that wasn’t the case, she could see people swimming in it only making her roll her eyes. Shifting her gaze back to Safiya, she leaned in closer to her giving her the same look she had, before whispering, “Let’s go.”

Squeezing her hand lightly for just a second, before letting it go, she downed the drink she had in her other hand trying so hard not to make a disgusted face. Champagne wasn’t her thing, almost nothing was since she didn’t like drinking but what’s a fancy party without a fancy glass of champagne? Turning around and starting to head outside, she left that glass on the tray of the first waiter she could spot near her before looking over her shoulder with a warm smile just checking if Safiya was following her.

“You’re an artist? What kinds of things do you make?” Brandon asked. Even though he wasn’t a artist at all it still fascinated him. Probably because he didn’t have that kind of talent. “The closest thing I could get to art is drawing a stick figure. Trust me you don’t want to see my art.” He said while chuckling. “If you wanted to know, I do basketball so that’s pretty much my main hobby right now. I play other sports too from time to time.” Brandon didn’t even know if the guy cared about stuff like that, but he just couldn’t help talking about basketball.

Candice chuckled slightly as the girl brought out a huge bag filled with dresses. “I do believe that’s from the new Saint Laurent line,” Candice added - only knowing the little fact as her mother had dragged her out to a fashion shoot in Millan a few weeks earlier. Though it had given CC the chance to take photos around Milian, so it was a win-win for both of them.

The girl smiled slightly as she heard Kara ask the next question. Her head was slightly pounding - likely due to the copious amount of alcohol she had drunk just hours prior - though everything that had happened that night was already a blur in Candice’s mind. She remembered arriving at the party, a dip in the pool, and now this - but besides that, she couldn’t remember the details of what had been happening. And thinking about it was making her head hurt even more so. Though, she couldn’t say she was completely sober. She still felt slightly tipsy - though the water had helped. “I… I don’t know, Kara. Honestly, I guess it just depends on how the rest of the night goes… though… I almost rather just go out into town then be here,” Candice told the girl the truth, she didn’t even know if she had it in her to do her tasks. She didn’t want to… and she knew in the morning, that would get her major sh!t from her mom.

“We should still go though… I’m sure you’ll be wanting to find Elodie and finish yours up.” Candice stated, smiling genuinely as she stood up from the ottoman and went towards the door to open it up. And back to the vulture den we go.

“Even better!” Kara said while hoisting the big bag over her shoulder. It was really hard to carry.

“I almost rather just go out into town then be here.” She heard Candice say. “I can see why, I mean you had a long night, but you seem mostly somber now so that’s a good start.” Kara said while shrugging. “Imagine what a night out with you would be like. I mean, I literally got free clothes tonight.” She said while laughing. After Candice stood up, Kara exited the double doors of the master bedroom. She observed the entire room. Maybe she should get someone’s number. It was a party after all. She saw Elodie going outside with someone so she decided not to bother her just yet.

As he did her, Delilah looked Daniel up and down when she stood in front of him. When Daniel spoke, Delilah didn’t even think about considering how genuine his compliment to her may have been and, instead, passed it off like any other, with no other response other than an eye roll. “You…” She placed a hand on his chest, pausing for a moment for him to question what she was about to say, before bringing it up to his shoulder to pat it and looking at him with a moderately condescending smile. “Made a cute effort.”

Although she wanted to respond to his joke, she was cut off by him spinning her around and complimenting her again. Despite most people being appreciative of this, when she was back in her first position she shook her head at him, giving a short laugh, knowing what he was trying to do. “Original. I’ll give you that,” Delilah stated. “However, it still makes me wonder what you’re about to ask me for.”

Like she had predicted, Daniel made a repayment request for a previous favour he had done for her. Though she couldn’t remember the exact favour he was referring to, Delilah had certainly racked up a few IOU’s in the past for Daniel, it had only been a matter of time before she actually had to go through with them. She nodded slowly but very obviously didn’t really listen, as he listed the pros of her joining him in his parent’s launch party. “Well, you should know I usually have too way many plans to add something into the last minute.” Though Delilah was somewhat joking, it was still a true and known fact. “So… I’ll have to think about whether that’s worth a cancellation.”

Safiya tried to take what she said lightly, “Oh no, let’s not think about thatt” She responded, putting emphasis on the last word because when I do come to parties, they are my sanctuary from my anxiety. She was not going to waste my evening on conspiracies. Not tonight. I can’t drink anymore which makes going out a challenge, but I like making people happy. Safiya remembered back to pleased faces before her sympathetically.

She wasn’t going to tell her, but Safiya was hurt when Elodie said those superficial things, she didn’t appreciate it, Elodie, everything that she could see with her eyes but not clear enough for her mind to retain it’s value. She tried so hard but she couldn’t understand why you would go places just- Safiya couldn’t even put it together. I’ll make this work. She told herself reassuringly.

Safiya broke eye contact and slid her hands out on her lap, looking down at her hands. She responded quietly, “Oh.” smiling shyly when she looked back up. “That’s okay,” She responded in an attempt to be hospitable, “Come on, let’s go outside” She smiled again out of politeness. Safiya looked down, eyes dropping gracefully to her hand, and letting go. Her silver charm bracelet jangled slightly and she looked up sharply. Walking straight ahead and out into the backyard.

The lights at the bottom of the lit everything around it with cerulean light. Making the setting appear like a music video set. Especially for the people in the water, Their skin gleamed over the surface. There were people. People everywhere. People with- tasks, that they have to do here. Everywhere. And tension built continuously, Elodie, she could handle, Everyone else; not anymore. There were too many people, she couldn’t bring herself to go out. Safiya froze in the threshold. “Actually, I have to go to the bathroom” She let out a quiet excuse, and hoped that Elodie heard her, Rushing through the crowd because it was the only way to the bathroom and she hated every second of it.

“That sounds like a threat,” saying it in a joking manner, he casually crossed his arms with a cheeky smile trying not to show him how he felt. Was he threatened? Maybe, but only because he didn’t know him, didn’t know how much he wanted this or if he wanted it at all, for real. “Maybe you should try not to feel too threatened? You are new after all,” he pointed out, laughing lightly but once again was just joking. If he was in his position he would feel like that, especially because of this whole game. Not the best way to start the last year in an unfamiliar place.

Hearing his full name he simply nodded, realising he was right. “Isn’t your dad an actor or something like that? My dad works with actors and models so I hear a lot of things and your last name sounds kind of familiar?” Tilting his head to the side as he looked away, towards the people dancing, he tried to remember his name but that didn’t mean they had to be related. There are a lot of people with that last name. A girl came to his mind too, a model if he remembered correctly. That was something he was mainly interested in… But that was a topic for another time.

“So what kind of place am I getting myself into?”
“Well…” scrunching his nose and looking away from him, he took a sip of his drink, making a little dramatic pause. There wasn’t much to say, it was a school like any other school but with more… pretentious kids. “It’s good, don’t worry about it,” chuckling, he looked back at him and shrugged his shoulder. “If you find the right people it’s really good. Our team is incredible. I mean, I’m their captain so they have to be,” of course he couldn’t miss a chance to brag about that but still tried to make it sound as if he was joking. And he was but he also wanted him to know about that. “It’s a nice place. Of course, there are some difficult people and I feel like they will be more difficult now but the key is to ignore everything you don’t like.” That was just his opinion. Overall he liked their school but didn’t have much to say.
