Jess nodded as he took her up on her offer of visiting her back in London. Honestly, she did love it - though Jess had always been the type of person who loved moving around so staying in one place was never ideal for her… which is probably why she came and went every other weekend to a new country or city. It did help that she could use the Parker private jet whenever she wanted to - courtesy of her cousin Daniel though her own family had one as well through her grandparents. Lost in her thoughts, Jessica only found herself drifting back to the conversation at hand when he asked about her plans after graduation. “Dan and I were both accepted to the University of Oxford which was my first choice, so I’ll be attending as a full-time student next semester,” Jess revealed as she looked towards him with her eyebrows raised. “And you? I imagine you have some fabulous sports scholarship lined up somewhere?” she questioned.

Another laugh left her lips as he told her that he forgot that Daniel was her cousin. Which wasn’t the first time that had happened honestly. After all, when people saw the two of them they saw a tiny white boy and her bi-racial self so it wasn’t usually an immediate thought. “It’s the skin color,” Jess smiled, "and I obviously have the better personality, " she added with a joking tone to her voice. “And honestly he’s great. I know he doesn’t act like it 99% of the time - but I love that w^nker with all my heart.”

As the conversation moved onto their heights she sighed, looking the man up and down. “What are you now? 6 feet? 6’ 1’'? I’ll just have to pop on my 4-inch heels and we can relive the good old days. And no. It’s absolutely not fair. I loved being able to look over your head in the hallways,” She teased slightly.

Her smile tamed as he talked about how he was feeling about Candice. She wasn’t surprised - from what she remembered from the girl, she had a way of being friends with everyone. “Well I don’t know about Daniel being lucky, but I do know Candice is lucky to have a friend like you while she was alive,” Jess mentioned. “Let me know if you ever want to talk alright?”

Malachi Azure

“Nobody would have guessed.” The odds of them going to the same school had been small. It was even strange for Malachi to not be going to school in New York like he had all his life, but no matter the circumstances, it was good that he could be close by for his cousin. He just nodded slightly as he listened to Valerie and hugged her just a little tighter. “I know. You shouldn’t have to go through this again. Nobody should have to deal with that more than once. It’s not impossible, and if anyone can make it through this, its you.” He paused, knowing Valerie was having a hard time, then whispered to her. “I’m going to let you in on a secret. There’s a girl I know. She’s strong and can make it through anything, and she’s probably one of the best people I know. She’s my cousin, you Val.”

@CerealKiller hopefully this post makes sense. I’m too half asleep to tell.

“Nobody would have guessed.”
”But I’m glad it happened” she said ”I missed having you around” she added. They were never in the same place for long, whether it was her in London and him in New York, or her in Beryl and him still in New York, they were just always far, and their relationship mostly based on visitation and phone contact. So having him in the same school as her was definitely something Valerie was looking forward to.
“I’m going to let you in on a secret. There’s a girl I know. She’s strong and can make it through anything, and she’s probably one of the best people I know. She’s my cousin, you Val.”
Valerie took a deep breath and wiped her tears. As much as there we’re many things she didn’t like about herself, the ability to live on with pain and pretend to be okay was definitely something she had in her, in fact, she was doing it every day.
This is all just- just a pain to get added to the list, another thing happening out of her control that she once again had no way of stopping or fixing whatsoever.
She moved the hair from her face and let out half a smile at Kai’s comment ”Thanks K” she said quietly ”I don’t know what I would have done without you here” she added. Which was true, she was a complete mess, and right now, Kai was basically the thing keeping her on the ground as her whole world was spiraling.
All these things were running throw her mind all at once, the pain, the sadness, missing Candice, and the blame she couldn’t stop herself from feeling. Once again, she felt like it was her fault, just like Veronica, all these years ago and Valerie still hasn’t stopped blaming herself and beating herself up over what happened, and now, here comes yet another disaster added to the list of things that might have not happened if not for Valerie.

@Littlefeets sorry she didn’t say much idk what to have her say she’s busy thinking :joy:

”Cars at the old garage parking? Or maybe plates but we’ll need to go buy those” “No plates, that’s easy sh^t. Cars it is.” Mikel said to Andy. His eyes beaming with excitement for the first time in a few days now. He had a mischievous grin positioned on hip lips. Mikel looked over at his own car and knew he probably shouldn’t be driving right now but it has never stopped him before so why should it today? “What are we waiting for, let’s go.”

”No plates, that’s easy sh!t. Cars it is."
”That’s what I like to hear” he said and a smile formed on his face **
“What are we waiting for, let’s go.”
”Hell yeah” he said with a smirk and put his helmet back on, by now he was already used to driving under the influence of alcohol, and was quite good at it. He knew he shouldn’t do it and might get hurt, but himself getting hurt didn’t mind him just as much as the people he cared for getting hurt. He was just a pawn, if he got in a crash it wouldn’t be the first time, he just survives it, unlike others…
He turned on the engine and looked back at Mikel ”see you on the other side” he said as if they were in a movie

Mikel walked over to his jeep and gripped the handle as he listened to Andy. ”see you on the other side” He opened the door and pulled himself in, immediately grabbing his AUX cord and plugging in his phone. Turning the volume all the way up and shuffling his playlist. He reversed out of the driveway and followed closely behind Andy as they drove out of the neighborhood. Once they hit the main roads, he sped up and stuck his hand out the window. The breeze felt cool on his bare arms and the wind made his hair blow into his face. He knew the way to the old parking lot by heart even if it had been ages since he was there. Many people knew of it but not as many actually went there. Most people went during the night anyway to buy things or hook up.

Andy started driving, Mikel closely behind as they both headed towards the old parking lot. It was old and lame, full of junk and old cars. It was the kind of place most people don’t go to unless they only went to for shady business. But Andy somewhat liked it, it was quiet and rarely ever had any people around. It was the kind of place you can go to and just clear your mind.
As they got closer by, Andy slowed his motorcycle and pulled up eventually at the side by a fence. taking off his helmet he looked back in the direction of the music coming after him, which was obviously Mikel. ”Long time no see” he jokingly commented and tested his back against the fence waiting for Mikel to come out

Maverick Weston

All Maverick had wanted after Daniel had sent that message to everyone, was to just talk with Candice. The last they had spoken wasn’t much of a conversation, and she still wouldn’t tell him what was going on, so whatever reason she had to push him away, he wouldn’t be able to find out. “Well I’ll never know what happened now, will I?” Maverick looked at Jordan’s hand as he said to had over the flask. “What makes you think I have one, Jordan?” Maverick couldn’t necessarily deny it. He did have one on him, but as it was a funeral the small part of him that was thinking clearly to some extent knew that he shouldn’t drink while he was there. Maverick waited a moment and since Jordan didn’t seen like he was going to let up about it, he grabbed the flask he had and took a drink of the liquid inside, swallowing a couple pills from the bottle he had in his pocket. “Why should I hand it over?”

“University of Oxford huh? Sounds fancy. What are you guys studying there?” He asked curiously. He especially wanted to know what Daniel was going to do. He always thought he would become some kind of criminal on the dark web. He laughed, though he was mostly laughing at the word w^nker. It was true that he never would have guessed that he was related to her if he didn’t know them, also because of how different their personalities were. “Wait what? You guys look exactly alike.” He said jokingly.

“What are you now? 6 feet? 6’ 1’’? I’ll just have to pop on my 4-inch heels and we can relive the good old days. And no. It’s absolutely not fair. I loved being able to look over your head in the hallways.”

“Nope, that’s cheating. I’m not used to girls being taller than me anymore so if you put on those heels, it’s going to remind me of middle school all over again.”

“Well I don’t know about Daniel being lucky, but I do know Candice is lucky to have a friend like you while she was alive.”

He looked down at his shoes again.“Yes, but…I feel guilty because we weren’t very close like before.” High school definitely made him more busy and maybe even her, which caused them to not talk as much as they used to. Now he wished that he talked to her more before she died. “But, I can’t change that so, I should probably stop worrying about it.”

“Let me know if you ever want to talk alright?”

“Yeah of course. Especially since you’re back and everything.”

Dan ended up talking to Delilah up until the moment the announcement was made to take a seat as the funeral was starting. There was something ironic about having a funeral… especially the way Lily-Ann Collins did it. In general… what was the point? The dead were dead. Candice Clarke wouldn’t know what came out of this day so who was this event really for? The public? Half the people in this room knew Candice less than he did and they were balling their eyes out… though that was likely for some air time as the Channel 2, 4, and 13 news was already here setting up in the back to catch footage. Dan couldn’t blame them, 18 year old model blown up to pieces did make for an interesting afternoon segment. Perhaps in this case it was for Lily. After all Lily’s daughter was gone - the one person she lived her life through. Who would endure that torture now? It’s true, Candice was simply living out Lily’s dreams for the past 18 years well… until… a few days ago. At least she was finally free, huh? Hurrah.

In his thoughts, Daniel had found a seat next to Delilah, not even attempting to look for Jessica in the full room as the minster went to the front of the room, babbling on about death and life and blah blah blah. Some bullsh!t about how heaven got another angel. But let’s be honest - there probably wasn’t a heaven or hell. More likely than not, she was just gone. From dust to dust.

In all honesty, Dan was getting bored. He could barely remember why he had come… that was until the words he had been waiting for finally arrived. “Would anyone like to say a few words about Candice before our beautiful Lily talks about her daughter,”

A Cheshire grin met Dan’s lips as he stood up immediately, not even asking before he walked up to the podium at the front of the room. As he made his way to the microphone, his smile only grew larger at the shocked faces in the room. After all - Daniel speaking at a funeral? Who would have ever thought? “If you don’t mind that is?” Dan asked the minister who let him take over. From his new position looking back at everyone, Daniel could see the upset faces in the room. Perhaps some people actually did give a sh!t about Candice. Her dad who set in the front row was crying actual tears so if that was any indication. Well… this would be fun.

Taking a deep breath, Daniel put his finger up as he pulled a folded peace of paper from his pocket. “I wrote a few words about Candice that I would love to share with all of you lovely people who seem to miss her so much,” Dan stated, looking around the room as he caught eyes with a few people. A worried Jessica and Jezebel sat close to the podium, an intrigued Delilah near the middle, a drunk Maverick, and even Dominic Lucier. Oh… how fun this would be. With his paper now open, Daniel spoke - though not even having to look at the paper to know what was on his mind.

“Candice Clarke. What can anyone really say about the “girl who had it all” OH… maybe the fact that
is just a whole ass lie. Everyone here really has the audacity to pretend to be sad that she’s no longer
alive? Really? Let’s be honest - every single person in this room is liable to not really knowing anything
You all simply pretend. Nice try but I can see right through you all. Let me take this moment to tell you
dipsh!ts the truth. Candice Clarke was far from perfect. I mean she’s been anorexic and bulimic but you all literally never noticed. Not her past boyfriends. Not her best friend. Sh!t, the only one who
really knew was her mother and what did she do? She continued to tell her daughter that she didn’t
think she was good enough. It’s just sad really… And this has been going on for years.” Dan laughed.

“I’d also like to take a second to call out to the lovely Dominic Lucier. When I originally decided to
write this speech - it was meant to be targeted at you. Mostly because I don’t really think I’ll have
such a great opportunity to say this in public. The reason Candice broke up with you was
a great reason actually. I mean… you were right to have me look into her years ago. She did a
sh!tty thing to you and I don’t think she’ll ever get to tell you the truth so let me do so through this speech. Candice Clarke is the reason your sister is dead. Whoops… karma’s a b^tch huh?”

With that, Dan crumbled the peace of paper in his hand. In actuality, there was nothing written on it. It was blank, but he had said what he had wanted to. After all - an opportunity to release all of Candice’s secrets at once? It was golden.

“Ahh… I see Lily’s sent the security men after me now,” Dan smiled, seeing as to large men were headed towards him. “In that case, let me just take these final few moments to thank you for letting me say what I wanted to. Let’s be honest - it’s probably the most interesting thing that’s going to happen today anyway. Well - have a great rest of the funeral while I’m dragged out by security!” Dan shouted the last part as the large men had already grabbed him and started pushing him towards the exit. As he walked by the cameras he smiled. “If you want an interview, I’ll be outside,” Dan screamed once again before being pushed out into the steps of the church. Well… That was fun.

“University of Oxford huh? Sounds fancy. What are you guys studying there?”

She couldn’t help but chuckle at the sentiment. “You know me - I love to bloody ruin stuffy institutions that have been around for eons,” Jess explained, “And Oxford is just waiting for me to make it a little less fancy,” she continued, moving her head to the side as he asked her what they would be studying. “Guess. If you get it right - I might give you a present,” Jess smiled, “Dan however is majoring in criminology and physics or something. I think he’s doing like three majors and two minors, I don’t even know,” Jess explained as she leaned against her seat - intrigued in what he’d guess it was. Though, as of right now, no one knew what she was studying - not even Dan. That information was stored up in her brain. She honestly enjoyed the guesses of what people thought she was going to do - at the very least, the question told her a lot about what they thought about her, even without directly asking the question. Laughter escaped her lips once again when Brandon joked that she and Dan looked alike, “Oh god please don’t compare me to that idiot,” Jess added.

Her smile didn’t falter when he said it was cheating for her to wear heels and be taller than him. “Well get used to it Brandon, now that I’m back I like to keep everyone on their toes… or for you on your tippy-toes because that’s where you’ll have to be to be taller than me,” Jess stated, nudging him playfully before he moved the discussion over to Candice. As good as it felt to talk to Brandon again, the context of their meeting was… less than ideal. So instead of saying anything, she simply put his hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. Death wasn’t necessarily a new concept for Jessica, her grandfather had, after all, died when she was 8… though she was never close to the man so she couldn’t really imagine exactly what Brandon was going through. Before she could say anything, however, Jess heard the chatter going down as the minster made his place on the podium discussing Candice’s death and how the holy stars aligned. Though Jessica wasn’t a devout Christian, most of her relatives were so she did listen to what the minster was saying - suppressing the voice in the back of her mind asking - ‘really?’ After all - the whole aspect of Christianity and the bible really didn’t sit well with Jessica - it was so full of contradictions, how could anyone truly believe it. Though this wasn’t a time for her own beliefs, it was one to send good thoughts towards Candice.

Well… that was until Jessica saw her battered up cousin approaching the podium. The gut feeling she was having that morning returned and she just knew something bad was going to happen. She wanted to go up, to pull him off the stage and pull him out - but she couldn’t. Before Jessica could even make a move, Daniel Parker did the one thing he was never good at - he talked.

With every word that came out of his mouth, Jess couldn’t help but want to take her shoe off ad throw it at his already blackened eye. Silence had completely befallen the room and Jess shook her head, watching the security hold his tiny ass and drag him outside. “I’m… I’m sorry Brandon,” Jess mumbled, as she stood up, and walked behind the security towards the exterior - already knowing that everyone was watching them leave.

As she exited the doors, almost instantly after Daniel was thrown out she just looked at him - disappointment present in her features as she watched him - unaffected by all the people he had hurt in there. “What the actual hell is wrong with you Daniel? That was a bloody funeral. Not a ‘look at me, I’m Daniel, I know everything about everyone’ moment like it always is with you,” Jess stated, her voice clear as she looked at him. “God… I can’t even look at you right now Dan. I suggest you walk your ass back home because there are about 200 angry people who are about to punch you in the face again, and I’m not going to stop them,” Jess mumbled shaking her head.

After a few moments of watching him, unfaltering. Not a word leaving his lips as he looked towards her. She knew he’d never admit to it but Jessica could see it in his eyes. Daniel was broken… he had been for a long time. She only regretted not coming back sooner to help pick up the pieces. A sigh left her lips, as she walked towards him, touching his eye slightly with a shake of her head. “You’re an idiot Parker. I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed,” Jess mumbled, “Look, I’m going to find my own way home Dan, don’t wait up… and I suggest you start getting there before someone gives you matching black eye,”

With that, Jess walked away from the steps of the church, walking towards the curb as she used her phone to call an uber. She needed to destress with… all of that and Jessica knew if she stayed a moment longer, she would be the one slapping Dan herself. So instead, she put in the address that Davina had sent her after their conversation and sat in the car silently - attempting to figure out what in the world she was going to do about that idiot."

It had taken about 15 minutes for Jessica to arrive at the modern home, within which time she had basically learned everything about her driver Lila who was a graduate student at UCLA doing this on her off time. By the end of the ride, the two girls were laughing - talking about a guy Jess once dated that was an absolute nightmare. Thanking the girl for a ride, and somehow setting up a girls night out with her for tomorrow night, Jessica walked towards the door ringing the doorbell about 15 times waiting for someone to open the door.

After impatiently playing a song with her doorbell ringing skills, Jess signed looking around the house to find a small pink rock that she knew the DeLougrey’s placed in case of emergencies. Grabbing the rock, she turned the fake plastic thing over to open the back and reveal a key - letting herself in as seh did so. “DYLANNNN YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS HERE” Jessica joked - narrating her movements, “She’s takinggg off her shoesss,” the girl continued as she removed the heels and placed them to the side. “She is now walking towards your kitchen and is about to steal one of your fifty three pre-made smoothies. YOU MAYYY WANT TO STOP HER.” Jess yelled once more, doing exactly as she said as she, quite literally, made herself at home.

“Well I’ll never know what happened now, will I?”

Jordan’s words fell silent. He didn’t really know what to say to comfort Mav at this moment. After all, what could someone say? ‘Sorry that the last thing the girl you liked did before she died was ignoring you with no reason?’ It was impossible to find the right words… but what would even be the use. Maverick was so out of his mind right now, that anything Jordan said, he doubted Maverick would fully remember. What he could do was take away the poison. So that’s what he was doing - his hand out as he waited for his old friend to hand him the destructive device. The kryptonite that Maverick was keeping close to his heart, even if it was killing him and he knew it.

“What makes you think I have one, Jordan?”

“Tell me you don’t,” Jordan stated, his voice clear as he looked into Maverick’s eyes. “Look me in my eyes and tell me you don’t, and I’ll believe you” he continued, his hand still out unflinching as he waited for the man to put it in his hand. Jordan wasn’t surprised when Maverick moved to pull it out - he knew his friend despite it having been months since they last saw one another. “We’re not having this con…” though before Jordan could say that, his disappointment grew as he saw the man take a drink of what was inside. “Why should I hand it over?”

“God Maverick, look at yourself. Do you even recognize the person looking back at you? Because I don’t. I don’t know this person… and honestly, I’m not really enjoying his company all that often. So I swear to god, if you ever want to look in the mirror and not see a shell of a person - hand it to me Mav.”

As the funeral proceedings continued on, Jordan closed his eyes, silently praying for the girl he would miss with all his heart. Though what he didn’t expect was for Daniel to go up on the podium and say what he did. Not about Candice Clarke. Disappointed didn’t even begin to describe how Jordan felt towards his friends - one being Maverick and the other being Daniel. Though, as Daniel talked, Jordan placed his hand on Mav’s shoulder - making sure he didn’t make any rash decisions. Drinking didn’t really help in the rationality department after all.

Jezebel Mallory Sloane

Jezebel had a rough weekend to put it lightly. Prom night was a disaster. Jordan was back and she still had no idea how she felt about that, and everything with her and Mikel was completely up in the air. She had no idea what to think or feel about anything that had gone on, and that didn’t change even after she had gotten home that night. She was barely beginning to process it all when it came to the next morning with the news of the death of Candice Clarke. At one time, Jezebel was jealous of the girl and how she seemed perfect in every way, but since the fight with Daniel that day she had started eating to know her. That day Candice followed her into the bathroom, and invited her to Paris meant a lot. Candice was the only thing that held Jezebel together that day. That trip over Christmas and her birthday let her and Candice become friends. When Jezebel needed a friend more than anything else in the world, Candice was there before they even knew each other all that well. Jezebel was already at the limit of what she could emotionally handle, but the death of someone who had quickly become a close friend pushed her beyond what she could handle. Her grandparents tried to be comforting for their granddaughter, but they could only do so much for the distraught girl. The most they could do was drop Jezebel off at the church for the funeral. Jezebel didn’t know Candice near as well as she would have wanted, but Candice was someone she was close to, and in some ways could count on more than she could her own family. The funeral went on as the minister spoke, most of which Jezebel honestly didn’t pay much attention to, and eventually came the opportunity for anyone to step up and say something. That’s when Daniel of all people decided to go up and give a speech. Jezebel looked to Daniel as he stepped up, speech prepared. Of course Daniel said everything he said. He had no idea what a limit was, or lines that shouldn’t be crossed. It was Candice’s funeral and he was saying what he said. No matter how true any of it could have been, it wasn’t the time or the place, which was clear as he was dragged out by security. She sat there for a minute before going out to where Daniel was. She looked at him, with his bruised face, and shoved him. “What was that in there?! For having such a high IQ you don’t think anything through.” Even if they were mad at each other, Daniel was still important to Jezebel. “This is a funeral, you can at least pretend to be upset! That’s what most people are going to have to do at your funeral one day. Keep going at this rate and you won’t have anyone there besides me and Jessica.”

Dylan DeLoughrey

Dylan wasn’t at home that much, not this one at least. Because of his classes and all the traveling he had to do, he got an apartment near his college and would spend most of his time there. Whenever he could, whenever he could take a break, he would come back home to be with his family and luckily that’s what he was doing now. Having Jessica over for dinner after so many years wasn’t something he wanted to miss. He knew his mother has seen Jessica multiple times by now but not the rest of his family. He didn’t want to miss their reactions - the girl basically lived with them before she left.
Dylan was also excited about the little plan they’ve come up with that morning. It wasn’t because he liked Jessica and wanted to see his mother’s reaction if they ever started dating, because he didn’t, he was just tired of those endless “You would be such a lovely couple” conversations. Especially when he felt like she was a part of the family. So to make Davina think she got what she wanted would be hilarious and it would add some spice to the dinner that would otherwise be… boring. What do you do at dinners? Eat and talk about life? Yes, boring, exactly.

It wasn’t that long after his mother and siblings left that he heard a doorbell ring, making him look away from the book that was in front of him to his phone, to check the time. It was too early for them to be back and they would just come in, but as it continued for a couple more minutes he realized who it must’ve been. So with a slight smirk on his face, he let Jessica struggle to enter the house as he closed the book and pushed it to the side.

Soon, he heard the door opening and her voice, making him playfully roll his eyes at every narrated move she made. With that, he got up and made his way downstairs right as she entered the kitchen, jokingly gasping at her last words. “You can do anything but don’t touch those smoothies.” Moving to stand in front of her, he had a very serious expression on his face that quickly changed into a huge grin as he pulled her in for a hug. “I was quite enjoying your doorbell performance, you know?” He joked, laughing lightly before letting her go and turning to open the cupboard with glasses. “How does it feel to be in this house again?” Grabbing two glasses, he placed them down and glanced at her with curiosity in his eyes.

“Anddd… What do you want to drink? Before you help me prepare the food since you’re early.” Emphasizing the word early so it seems like he was complaining, a playful smile appeared on his lips. “Or you can just come up with a plan for tonight, whatever you’d like. You’re the guest after all.”

As Mikel pulled into the lot, it brought back many memories and he wasn’t really sure how well he liked thinking of that time of his life now. Though as he sat in his car, drunk and high at the same time, and just drove here, he realized there wasn’t much of a difference between then and now. Maybe just the fact that he wasn’t coming here to make money or didn’t have a girl in his passenger seat. ”Long time no see” Mikel always admired Andy’s choice to ride a motorcycle. It was never Mikel’s thing but he did think they were interesting and definitely looked cool. Mikel walked over to Andy and to the fence which was starting to rust badly. “I don’t even remember the last time I was here,” He admitted but then quickly pulled himself over the bars and his feet landed on the ground on the other side. “Come on we’ve got sh!t to break.” He said with a chuckle to his friend as he started walking to find the right target.

•Flashback•

Prom, the party, they were all… eventful.
It was all so crazy, even more than his wildest dreams. Never in his life he thought his senior prom night will be like that, everything, from having the most amazing boyfriend and prom date, to coming out to his parents, to coming out to the whole damn school and having sex with said boyfriend in a blackout storm at a party in the house of a guy he never even met. It was all just a crazy night, each part of it.
Yes, of course there were cons to it, being kicked out of your house at 18 isn’t really ideal for anyone. But he was lucky to have the Ribeiros in his life who were kind and considerate enough to let him stay with them until he figures it all out again.

The day after prom was quite a blow, hearing the news about Candice wasn’t easy for him but not remotely as much as it was for Luciano, or at least that’s what he figured since the boy became very distant and isolated ever since. Gio hates seeing him like that, but he knew there’s nothing he can do, and that he just needs his time to process. The death of someone you care about is never easy, and Gio knew that well since it wasn’t the first time.
The only thing he could do was focus on Aline, considering it was her birthday even though a girl just died. Aline was very important to him as well, he didn’t want her 18th birthday to be remembered as a bad day, even if he himself was sad, he put his own pain aside so he could be there for Aline. which was something he had the tendency of doing, ignoring his own problems for the sake of the people he cares for.

Even though he didn’t want to face his parents face to face, especially his father, he knew he had to. Coming from the party to the Ribeiro household, he didn’t have any belongings with him, even his car was still at the prom venue. So at some point in the day he went to the venue to pick up his car, and drove to his parents house. Opening the door was no other than Annabel, the maid and his favorite person in the house. She hugged him immediately with a worried look in her eyes, ’I heard you told them…’ she said and looked inside briefly before turning back to him. ”Are they here?” he asked regarding his parents, she nodded ”Your father is in his office, your mother left, she’s supposed to come back anytime soon” she said and stepped out, closing the door behind her.
She rested her back against the door and he told her everything that happened, from telling his mother, to prom, to being kicked out and staying with the Ribeiros. Annabel was always there for him and he never worried about telling her anything, even though they had quite a big age gap, she was his best friend, he could honestly trust her with his life blindfolded. she was his person, even more than Elske or Luciano, honestly, deep inside him he could she was his guardian angel or something like that.
’Wow.’ she replied, in partial loss of words, ’Im proud of you’ she added with a light smile, and was interrupted by Giovanni’s mother, Valentina, who headed towards the house looking at the two of the ’Giovanni is that you?’ she asked and Gio turned to face her.

His mother was never the problem, he loved his mother, but she was flawed in the way she followed her cold hearted husband like a lost puppy giving things up just because he said so. And Gio, as well as herself and even Annabel knew inside them that if it was up to her in a way, Gio would still be living with them. Even though she never really accepted gay people, it might have been because it was never something that was involved in her life, only seemed off in theory. She would never throw her own son out, she couldn’t lose him, not again.
He looked at her, and stayed silent as she walked towards him, ’mio figlio’ she whispered calling him her son in Italian, and stroked his cheek. As much as it was hard for her and she didn’t support him being gay, it was in her nature, she couldn’t stop herself from worrying, ever since his father didn’t allow him so come back home that night, Valentina was worried whether her boy was okay, or what if he was sleeping on the streets, it would all roll into something much much worse.
”I need clothes, my things, something” he said. He didn’t try to find his way back to living there, he knew it was wrong for him even if it was possible, which it wasn’t. She nodded and walked to the doors to enter the house, seeing her husband look at them. As seeing Gio his expression changed ’What is he doing here? Get out of my house.’ he said as Gio stepped inside the house. Gio, hurt but the words of his own father, looked down in shame ”I just need my clothes” he responded quietly as his father muttered quiet in Italian ’I told you once, you will never set foot in this house again, you wretched filth’ Mario said once again, his voice stern. Stepping back outside in shame, against other people, he could potentially stand his ground, but his father was always a weakness spot for him, and not in a good way. Gio has been scared and hurt by his father so many times in his life, inside him he hated this man for all he’s done to him and the way he behaved as a father. Looking at his mother, she took a subtle breath and looked over to Annabel, signaling her to go upstairs and pack some things for the boy.
His father left and called his wife to come with him, and soon enough Annabel cane back with a suitcase with some of Gio’s stuff. ”thank you, so so much” he thanked her and gave her a hug before leaving, and brushing his problems away once again for the sake of Aline and her birthday.

•Present day•

The day of Candice’s funeral has arrived, and all the sadness came right back as they drove to the church.
’Buenos días, Aline. And Gio.’ Aline and Luciano’s mother, Marcia, said and lightly squeezed Gio’s arm as Aline got in the car telling her Buenos Dias.
She was an amazing person, Gio always appreciated her as a person but now, when he actually lived at the same home with them, he got to know her a lot better and he loved her as if she was his own mother. He didn’t reply in a buenos Dias though, since it was after all not a good morning whatsoever. They started driving towards the church, Gio looked at Luciano in the front seat, his gaze out the window, he just looked so sad and hurt. Seeing the man he loved be in this state, broke Gio’s heart, he wished there was something he could do to help, but there wasn’t.

As they arrived at the church, they got out of the car and both Luciano and Marcia went in, leaving him and Aline still outside. Aline signaled him that she’ll be in in a minute, but seeing the church in front of his eyes, Gio himself found it hard to go in.
Let alone the fact that churches had a bad connotation in his head now, seeing it all right in front of his eyes made it all feel real. She was actually dead, which was hard to believe. Gio sighed as he watched Aline go to the back of the church.
He stayed and stood there for a few moments taking it all in, he and Candice were friends, but there were many other people here who were way closer with her than he was, and he couldn’t even bare the idea of how much more painful it was for them.

Honestly, he didn’t really want to go in, not immediately at least, so he headed to the direction where Aline went, checking on her.
As she took a breath with her eyes closed, Gio went and stood by her resting his back against the wall ”Are you okay?” he asked, considering she looked a bit off but at the same time she wasn’t even close to candice.

“I don’t even remember the last time I was here,”
Mikel said and Andy looked around him, it has been a while since he’s hung out with Mikel around this area, it feels weird to say, but it feels as if he’s grown up, he was a somewhat different person now. One trying Andy wasn’t sure how much he related to. As much of a carefree punk as he was, he did have things he was serious about, and when he wanted and needed to he could definitely be responsible and mature. But that’s not always the case. Now, he was just too fcuking hurt to make any good decisions, so breaking stuff that aren’t someone’s face might be good.

"Come on we’ve got sh!t to break.”
”That’s what I like to hear” he said as Mikel speaking pulled him right back from potentially losing himself in thought, even though drinking made the whole thinking part a lot harder.
They walked in past the rusty fence, a bunch of old furnitures, construction junk, useless old cars and mold, were spread around them in this dodgy place that was the old parking. It was the shady part of town, where the homeless people stayed at nights, where the drug dealers made their business and what not. But even in this chaos Andy seemed to find a place of peace.
”At some point this place will run out of cars to smash” he said as he looked around, slightly shaking his head as he got to a smashable looking car and turned back to Mikey with a raised brow as if he just found a top contender for the best car to break.

Daniel watched in silence as his cousin gave him the look - the look that told him he had f*cked up. It wasn’t the first time he had gotten this look, not from her, not from anyone else and it probably wouldn’t be the last. After all - he was Daniel Parker: Obvious Screw-Up. Though from her, from Jessica, it hurt more. Though his eyes only widened when she said she’d find her own way home. “Jess… come on,” Daniel started, looking after her as she shook her head and walked. He was going to follow her - not wanting her to wander off for a day. It wasn’t the first time she had done so, but Jessica always had a way of making sure she worried him to death - which is probably one of the reasons she just did that. She knew he wouldn’t be able to relax until she finally came home unharmed. Hell.

Before he could follow her, however, someone else made an appearance. Possibly the only person who could hurt him as much as Jessica could. Sorry, correction, had hurt him. Though, when she spoke, shoving him in the process which he didn’t actually expect she’d have the guts to do, Daniel saw something in her eyes that made him at a loss for words. “That’s what most people are going to have to do at your funeral one day. Keep going at this rate and you won’t have anyone there besides me and Jessica.” Yep. Even if Daniel didn’t show it on his face - though what could you really see with the bruising anyways - that hurt. Well… she wasn’t wrong. But still. So instead… Dan fell back on his automatic setting; sarcasm. A snide laugh escaped his lips as he patted his suit down where she had shoved him, “Interesting you think I’d want you at my funeral. Though trust me, I’m not planning on going anywhere anytime soon so don’t mark down any dates just yet.” Dan stated casually, watching her as he said those words. “So how are you and Mikel? Oh… damn I forget. Is it you and Jordan now? It just gets so confusing sometimes but the pictures of you and Jordan outside prom - damn. And right after you and I had our little talk too,”

A grin met her lips as she saw the man of the hour making his way down the stairs, leaning her body against the kitchen island as she watched him walk towards her. Her eyes met his as he joked about the smoothies and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She honestly missed the idiot, he truly was like an older brother to her and she hadn’t seen him since the summer when she asked him as a last minute favor to be her date for Meghan Markle’s wedding. She would have asked Andy, though that idiot was on an Australian tour so after Davina suggested asking Dylan, she couldn’t refuse.

“God I was joking. I wouldn’t touch those smoothies with a ten foot pole - I’m pretty sure you boys put a gallon of muscle milk or whatever. Just one of these days I just wish you’d put ice cream in them,” Jess mumbled, before wrapping her hands around his neck tightly. “And thanks - I’ve was asked by the Paris Oprah to join the performance by ringing a doorbell for my instrument, and sadly, upsettingly, disappointedly, I had to refuse that honor,” Jess laughed, pulling away and messing his hair up as she did.

Jess jumped up on the kitchen island - simply for the fact that she could be taller than him so he’d have to look up at her instead of the other way around - as he retrieved glasses from the cupboard, asking her about being in the house again. It had been four years since the last time she stepped foot in this house… the last time being after one of Dorian’s winning soccer games when they were going to celebrate. Though, looking around, it seemed as if the family had done quite a bit of renovations as some of it looked familiar, though other parts didn’t. “Feels like stepping into a horror movie… did you always have the creepy family portrait in the living room? It’s giving me American Horror vibes” Jess teased. "“Anyways - you still make a mean mimosa?” Jess asked, her eyebrows raised, “And don’t give me that look w@nker. I’m a Brit, we start drinking when we’re 12,”

"… Before you help me prepare the food since you’re early .”

“Wooowww” Jess laughed, “I know we just started dating but you move fast to get me in the kitchen,” she continued, “But I guess I’ll give you the honor of my cooking skills. What are we making?” Jess asked, pushing herself off the island as she grabbed the apron and put it over Dorian’s head, “Just don’t get in my way huh?” she smiled. “And we can cook and come up with a plan - I’m a multi-tasker babe. So, let’s figure this out. What are we going to say when Davina asks ‘How did this start?’ Royal wedding?” Jess asked, “The best white lies come from the truth,”

“I missed having you around too Val.” Even with rarely being in the same place for long periods of time, Valerie was one of the people he cared most about, along with his younger siblings. He was glad to have the chance to be close by, especially if he could be there to make sure she was alright with the whole situation and funeral. Malachi knew how much of a struggle it had to be for his cousin, especially because of Veronica. “I’m here for you now, and I’m not going anywhere. Anything you need, I’m here.” After just a couple minutes, the two sat down as the funeral went on, but then someone decided to make a speech. That someone was Daniel Parker, certified genius and probably the most hated person at the school. Malachi stayed silent, listening to see what Daniel had to say. He had only met Candice the one time, even seen her mother more than he had the girl herself, but from what Daniel had said, it wasn’t necessarily a surprise from what he had been able to tell. He nodded ever so slightly as he listened to the speech, a slight smirk appearing by the end when it was clear that Daniel was about to be escorted out. He looked to Valerie next to him concerned, knowing that at least part of what Daniel said would have hurt her. “Are you alright? You probably couldn’t have known.”
