There was an instant pit of guilt forming in his stomach as Jezebel looked him in the eyes, though Daniel didn’t falter in his words - pushing the feeling down, deep below where it would no longer bother his thoughts. Or rather, the plan he had already started forming. So instead, Daniel played the part of the “relieved younger brother” and nodded as she agreed to dinner. “I’ll send a car to pick you up,” Daniel told the girl, scratching his head as he looked towards her. Perhaps he shouldn’t be doing what he was planning to. After all, she caused enough trouble for herself. But there was one part where she was wrong - the fact that she thought she had ruined her own life better than he could.

“I’ll…see you later than…” Dan stated as he met her eyes once again. Though, before he could say anything else, Daniel noticed the casket coming out and shot her a forced smile. “That’s my cue to leave before, as Jessica said, the 200 people in there try to punch me again,” he explained giving her one last look before walking down the stairs and towards his car - getting ready to set his plan in motion.

Maverick Weston

At the rate Maverick was spiraling, it wouldn’t have been a surprise for him to not even make it to graduation. He knew his sisters wouldn’t be able to handle losing him. They lost their mom when they were just kids, and now they had just lost another person they looked up to with Candice. No matter how drunk and slurred his words were, he had to try and protest Jordan taking him to rehab. He looked at his reflection for a moment when Jordan pulled down the mirror. Maverick wasn’t himself at all, but he didn’t even care. He pushed the mirror back up “I’ll be fine.” There was only one way Maverick could even try to convince him, and he couldn’t think of anything else to possibly convince him, but then Jordan even said he would pay for it. “You’re not going to pay for it Jordan, and I can’t afford it, so let’s just go.” Despite being completely wasted, Maverick knew that his dad would never let someone completely pay for something big, even if the Weston family was broke. That’s right, Maverick and his family was barely making ends meet. The twins didn’t know anything other than money being tight, but Maverick had known since the summer, just after he had gotten hurt and the medical bills started piling up. Money had been tight for years, since his mom died. That was a large part of why Maverick had even been trying to win Blue Royalty, because if he didn’t and without a scholarship for soccer, he wouldn’t be going to college, at least not without having debt that he’d be paying off for years. So rehab, it would only be taking the already scarce funds the family had and spreading it even thinner. However, that one part of him that was still rational, knew he needed it for his sisters’ sake. He didn’t care what happened to him, but his sisters mattered more.

“Yeah, you’re right, but it still feels like I should be sadder.”
”You can’t force yourself to be sad” he simply said, he couldn’t relate because he himself was sad, but faking sadness was worse than not feeling anything at all.
“I just wonder if I should’ve given her a chance. Obviously, I can’t go back and I don’t regret that, but it just makes me think of how it could’ve been different.”
”I think you two actually had some potential to get along, but it doesn’t really matter anymore… I get that though, there are too many people in our class I don’t know, makes me wonder.” he said and looked at the branches of a tree moving in the wind

“Ah, okay. We can stay out here then if it helps.”
”I do want to go inside at some point, not that it matters to Candice anymore… but it’s just respecting I guess” he said with a light sigh, he’s seen people that were a lot closer to her go in, whether it was Luciano, or Valerie, Jezebel… if they could do it, so could he. His problem wasn’t with this specific funeral it was with funerals as a whole, he pretty much just needed to push it aside like he always does.

“Aw, you’re important to me too.”
He smiled lightly at the girl, he did like Aline quite a lot, and it wasn’t because she was his boyfriend’s sister, he liked her a lot before, but they were never too close.
“I owe you the best birthday so tell me what you want for your next one and I’ll do it ALL,”
He chuckled lightly ”There’s still time” he said. His birthday was a bit of a… complicated day for him, for a few reasons. But he didn’t want that to be an issue. ”It’s in June there’s still like three months” he added with a shrug

“Clearly. But I get it, you’re his boyfriend first. I’m like a super cool bonus prize.”
”If that’s the case you’re the best bonus prize I’ve ever seen” he said with a light smile
”It’s not tho, I like you as Aline, not as Lui’s sister. Even though obviously I care about you as Lui’s sister as well, but not only. If that makes any sense” he said

“Why are you naked?”
He almost sarcastically chuckled as he took out his AirPods, ready to go on about how this was his room and how he had the right to do whatever he wanted in his own house. The house she didn’t visit for four years and was now practically unwanted - well, at least in his room and his opinion. Which wouldn’t be supported by the rest of his family but he could try. Instead, she started laughing and was the first one to continue talking making him close his eyes for a second to calm down and not overreact right away. It was hard for him but luckily, in a way, she said something that really made him not want to say anything.

Opening his eyes to meet hears, the angry expression he had on his face just seconds ago fell and was replaced with a relaxed one. Sad one actually, but she probably wouldn’t be able to tell that because he was quite good at hiding it. Years of practice. And he just realized what happened. He wasn’t dumb, he can notice stuff and… the mess in the kitchen, her thinking it was Dylan’s room could only mean one thing. They were together, they were sleeping together, something was happening and he didn’t know what. Dorian knew about the royal wedding they went to together. It was quite funny to him when he heard it from his mother and he just couldn’t understand it. Why him? How can someone be so… so insensitive. Taking Dylan as her date and never, ever reaching out to him? Out of everyone, everyone she probably met while she was gone it had to be him?

His eyes stayed on hers as she continued talking but he almost didn’t hear a thing. He was just staring at her in disappointment, not saying anything. Her mentioning Andy was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Both Andy and his brother, just wow. Was he really the black sheep of the family? Did no one really care about him? Even her mumbling about getting him wet and how “excited” he was to see her didn’t make him smile slightly as it probably should’ve. Instead, he turned to the side so she could get off of him and he wouldn’t have to push her, because he wasn’t violent with girls. “Get off of me,” but he was very angry and it was clear in his voice. Clear in everything else he did next.
Getting up immediately, he grabbed the towel he wanted to grab before the oh, such sweet accident and wrapped it around himself. Shutting the drawer, he turned to face her not even thinking about giving her a towel. Maybe he didn’t want to do that because he was so mad but that was actually the last thing he could think about. So now, he was staring at her with a blank expression and couldn’t help but notice the little tattoo she mentioned. When she mentioned Andy.

“And leave the room. Now.” He spoke up in a very strict way, looking back up at her eyes.

“You’re not going to pay for it Jordan, and I can’t afford it, so let’s just go”

Jordan looked at the man with a sigh. He knew exactly where Mav was coming from - it wasn’t too long ago that he, himself, was struggling in that department. Sure he could have always gone to Yara and Aunt Amanda for help - but there was, at least for him, a want for neither of them to see him at his lowest point. And perhaps even an additional worry of what his father would do to the two of them if he had found out that was where he went. So instead of asking for help, Jordan simply… didn’t. Not for a long time. And honestly… if Jezebel hadn’t found him that day sleeping on a park bench a week after running away when he was 14 and offered help… he didn’t know where his life would be at this point. Maybe he, like his dad, would have wound up dead somewhere.

So instead of listening to the man, Jordan took the keys out of the ignition and watched his friend sitting in the passenger seat. “We’re family, Maverick, so no. You’re not paying, and we’re not leaving this parking lot until you at least walk inside there with me. You can pay me back in 30 years if you really want to when you’re a big soccer star or coach somewhere - but right now, you and me are going to walk in there because I can’t lose you as I’ve already lost my whole family. Not to this.” Jordan explained. “And we can sit here all night until you agree”. Perhaps Jordan was being forceful, but he knew what would happen if they didn’t go in. Maverick would promise he would get better, he’d go back home, and maybe he would get better for the first few days… maybe weeks. But than withdrawal would set in, any sort of stress would set him over the edge and he’d be back in this state… or worse.

“I’ll work it out with the Cerulean High school board and get all your homework to you. You’ll still graduate on time with the rest of us - so what’s stopping you Maverick? Do it for Candice. Do it for your sisters. Hell, just… do it for yourself.”

Although words were leaving Jessica’s mouth at an incomprehensible speed, her mind was wavering somewhere else. Though… in retrospect… who knew what the hell she was talking about, she definitely didn’t… honestly she wasn’t even sure if any of what she was saying made sense anymore. Somehow she had jumped from talking about water pressure in Dorian’s shower, to brunch with Pitbull, to skinny dipping in Italy… though she guessed the last one had one thing in common with the girl in the room. Both of them were fully naked. Though despite any words that were leaving her mouth, part of her mind was simply looking at Dorian… really looking at the best friend - correction; ex-best friend - she had left four years ago. She hadn’t seen him in person since a few weeks back - but then she was too distracted avoiding him. So now, she found herself comparing how he looked now to what she remembered in the past. He had definitely changed - though who hadn’t in four years? His personality was only one indication of that as shown by their argument on social media. Though this was only further emphasized when he pulled off, telling her to get off of him - the anger in his voice clearly present.

So she did, shifting her body off of him as she muttered something along the lines of “I’ve never heard that one before while being naked in a room with a man… guess there’s a first time for everything huh?” attempting to joke slightly even if it wasn’t necessarily the time for jokes. That was a Jessica specialty apparently. Though, as he got up faster than probably any guy with a naked girl in his room - she stayed seated - looking away immediately as there were some things she didn’t want to see. She heard him shifting in a drawer, likely covering up before she even thought about turning back to face him. She probably should have at least attempted to cover herself up - hugged her chest or some bs like that - but at this point, he’d seen everything and there wasn’t really a point in her mind. So instead, she just sat still while her mind went at 50 miles an hour thinking about what to do next. Though that answer didn’t really become difficult when he told her to leave the room.

With that, her glazed look found itself back in the present as she narrowed her eyes and stood up. “As much as I’d love to do that, Dorian, I’m quite nude right now and I’d rather not all five DeLoughrey’s have seen me naked when three of you already have,” Jess mumbled, going over to his dresser without really asking as she recalled the three that had seen her naked. Elodie in the girl’s locker room - Oh middle school PE - Davina when they went shopping together in Paris, and now, Dorian DeLoughrey.

Looking through his dresser, Jess grabbed one of his larger shirts and put it on over her head - it being honestly more like a short dress on her with her small torso compared to Dorian’s. Though as she did steal his clothes, she wasn’t really listening to anything he was saying about it… Her mind was too far away to comprehend if he had even said anything as she could only think about how much her supposed best friend had changed. Pulling her wet hair over her shoulder she glanced towards where he stood… likely waiting for her to leave. “Tell me,” Jess mumbled, grabbing a towel for herself as she started drying her hair - not making any effort to leave, “Are you always this much of an arse, or is it only when you have girls in your room? Because I’m definitely having a feeling that if you act this way with everyone, you’re not getting laid.” Jess stated someone as a joke though with a hidden layer of truth on top of it - more towards the ‘acting like an arse part,’.

He almost instinctively rolled his eyes the moment she opened her mouth and looked away from her, seeing enough at that point. Who would’ve thought Dorian would be looking away from a naked girl in his room? Well, he does know how to be respectful sometimes. Three of you already have, words that made him look back at her in slight confusion, only confirming his theory. Him, Elodie and Dylan. Of course. He wanted to laugh at that though, to say something he would probably regret later but why would he do that? She didn’t deserve a single reaction out of him at that point. He wasn’t even sure why he gave her a second of his time on social media. Some doors were meant to be closed, just like his dresser. "I don’t remember telling you to go through my clothes.” He spat out, taking a small step towards her but only noticed she was in her head, not giving a damn about what he was saying. For a moment he stayed silent, simply looking at the girl in front of him as she picked one of his shirts. It felt strange and unreal to see her standing there, in his room again. He really wished he could know what was going through her mind at that moment because there was so much happening in his.

“I’m sure Dylan would be more than happy to give you something. But you’re not even listening to me. Why would you?" A short chuckle escaped his lips as he crossed his arms and looked down at the ground. He even moved to the side to let her take a towel, seeing there was no point in stopping her. No point in getting mad anymore, at least not today. “Was I not clear enough?” He tried to calmly say as he stepped back closer to her, lifting his hands to fix the shirt she’d just put on. But his hand quickly moved up, gently cupping her cheeks as he put on a sarcastic smile. “Leave.” He repeated once again, not taking his eyes off of hers before walking past her to his door. “Now,” keeping that fake smile, he unlocked the door and held it wide open.

Though she could hear him speaking, his words only went into one ear and out the other. It was one of Jessica’s more beneficial skills, especially growing up with Daniel. Though, her mind worked in a similar way as Daniel’s often did. She could, if she tried, recall this conversation to its entirety. Though, honestly, she wouldn’t want to remember this moment anyways. No - she rather preferred remembering the moments when the two were friends - however long ago that was. The football game celebrations, the birth week gifts Dorian used to get her, even the casual hangouts when Jessica simply came to the DeLoughrey’s house to have lunch or dinner or watch American Football Superbowl’s or whatever those were. Though Jessica didn’t usually dwell on the past, she rather recall Dorian like that then… then the man standing in front of her.

In her distraction, she found Dorian walking towards her, placing his hand on her cheek which only caused her to lift her eyebrows in confusion. What kind of bi-polar sh!t was this? Although Jessica didn’t immediately move his hand away - rather, her body instinctively went towards his touch. Part of her wanted to stay there, like that - despite knowing in her heart that he had something else planned. And it all, instantly, made sense when he spoke one word. “Leave”. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes as she moved his hand away harshly - watching as he moved towards the door to add in “Now”. “Don’t worry, trust me… I don’t want to be in here any longer than I have to.” With that she walked towards the open door… though stopped only for a moment before fully exiting. “At least try to pretend you don’t hate me with every fiber of your being at dinner. I don’t want to make Davina and Elijah upset,” she mumbled before fully walking out and downstairs to where Davina stood looking at the mess Dylan and her had made.

“Davina… I am so sorry… I promise I’ll clean it up. It’s that w*nker you call son that is the cause of ALL of this,” Jessica laughed slightly as she walked over towards the woman and pulled her in for a hug - maybe for both the fact that she missed Davina and that Dorian had just p^ssed her off enough that she needed one. “…And a little… tiny bit me too but Dylan decided to drop a buffet on me so I had to retaliate” Jess frowned, “which is why I went to go take a shower in his room and didn’t have it cleaned up before you got back… do you have anything I can borrow by chance? As much as this shirt is a look it’s not really the look I’m going for and I just ended up trashing the dress I was wearing,” Jess questioned looking at the woman she truly considered to be a second mother.

Dominic Lucier

Dominic stopped walking as he felt someone bump into him and he heard a voice apologize. “Don’t worry about it.” He said, turning around to see Kara, the girl that he’d photobombed on Valentine’s Day. “Yeah, I remember you.” He told her with a slight nod. “My name is Dominic.” He reminded her, putting his hands in his pockets. He stood in silence for a few seconds, trying to conjure up something to say. Before he could think of anything, it was time for the service to begin. “For the record, I never thought you were annoying.” He added as he left, referring back to what she’d said. He walked into the church, sitting down next to his parents.

He listened to the service, using the minister’s voice to keep his thoughts from pulling out the memories from four years ago, the same ones he’d been trying to ignore all day. Then one man stepped up to say a few words about Candice. Daniel Parker. His decision to speak made Dominic feel uneasy, knowing that this man probably had years of dirt on her. His suspicions were confirmed as Daniel revealed to everyone Candice’s eating disorders. He froze, stunned by this news. However, he was quickly brought out of it by the mention of his name. He listened to him speak, the air around him becoming heavier and heavier. At the revelation that Candice had caused Clara’s death, he heard his mother gasp and felt his dad put his hand on top of his. The mention of his sister caused the memories that he’d been trying to suppress all day to come flooding back and the air around him to get so heavy, it was hard for him to breathe. He stood up and walked straight to the exit, his body on autopilot as he opened the door without thinking and left the church. He sat down on a bench outside, his head in his hands as he tried to regain his composure.

Dorian DeLoughrey

It wouldn’t be wrong to say his heart skipped a beat when she placed her hands over his. Because it did and he didn’t expect that. After four years that’s not what was supposed to happened. He was supposed to stay mad and ignore her if she ever decided to get back. It didn’t help at that situation when he just tried to get her out of his room, out of his sight but it also wasn’t hard keeping that mean act because he was still so hurt. He even laughed when she harshly moved his hands before he walked over to the door.

A fake smile remained on his face, simply nodding at what she said, like he was agreeing. He also didn’t want to be there with her and he made it very obvious, in a bit of a harsh way. But what he heard next only made that smile disappear, not even having the time to react before she walked away. He stood there frozen, still holding onto the door handle as he looked at the spot she was just at. Dinner? She was staying for dinner?
Taking a deep breath in, he slammed the door and walked over to his bed, letting his back hit it before covering his way and mumbling something. Somethings even he didn’t understand.

Elodie May DeLoughrey

Entering the house, she only glanced at the kitchen, not really caring about what was happening and what her mother was yelling about. She just wanted to go to the living room and sit down, for the entire day if possible. And that wasn’t something she’s never done before but only minutes after, she heard a familiar voice. Voice she hasn’t heard in a while. Already being in a bad mood, just wanting to be left alone, hearing her voice and knowing she was there was the last thing she needed. And wanted.

She stayed still for a bit, trying to figure out if she was only hearing things. Maybe seeing Jessica at the funeral just made her remember the times when she would spend so much time at their house, with her brothers. The times when there was someone her whole family almost loved more than her. But she was never the one to complain, she didn’t like that but she never wanted to talk about feeling left out and neglected. That really wasn’t the case, Jessica was almost more social, and more people liked her. Getting up slowly, she started walking towards the kitchen, wrapping her arms around herself. And there Jessica really was, hugging Davina. Without saying anything, she slowly looked around the kitchen, only now noticing the mess Jessica and Dylan made, if she heard her right. “Dylan, of course,” Elodie looked back at her mom that spoke up with a sweet smile on, almost like she was hinting at something. It was not a secret her mother liked the idea of the two of them being together which Elodie… didn’t like. And she might’ve known something her mother didn’t, something she almost wished she didn’t know but was glad she did. It just made her not trust Jessica as much as she once did. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it after I get you some better clothes,” she laughed lightly, only them noticing Elodie. “Hi,” Elo finally spoke up, trying to put on a smile even if she wasn’t feeling like it, and not because of Jessica. She looked at her for only a second before shifting her gaze down to the floor, waiting for them to speak so she wouldn’t have to.

Time skip - Dinner

Was there something worse than having Jessica over? Yes, having her over for dinner. At this point Elijah was back home enjoying a glass of scotch at the table, with Elodie on his left side. All this time Elodie has been quiet, looking down at the table and empty chairs. Dylan was standing with Jessica and Davina, helping with getting everything they needed, setting the table… If she was feeling better, Elodie would be the one doing that but maybe Jessica was a better helper. She always was.

One person was missing, Dorian. He’s been in his room all day which wasn’t unusual but considering they had a guest it would be nice if he made an effort of making them feel welcomed. Well, if it wasn’t Jessica he would be doing that. But he made it right on time as Dylan pulled the chair out for Jessica like a real gentleman would do, already acting as if they were a couple. It wasn’t hard for Elodie to ignore that, she just pretended she didn’t see anything and tried to make her smile more genuine. On the other hand, Dorian was a wearing a hoodie with a hood on, chuckling sarcastically at the sight of that and rolling his eyes, trying to make it not so visible. But he wasn’t doing a good job and Davina soon pulled his hood down, as she sat down next to him, whispering “Behave.”

“Did you know Jessica and Dylan made this?” Davina looked at her husband with almost a mischievous smile on her lips. It caused Dorian to mumble “Perfect”, like he was disgusted, now getting the behave look from Dylan. Dorian’s gaze remained on Dylan, noticing the way he just looked at Jessica, very lovingly. And his theory was once again confirmed. But what he didn’t know was that it was an act, a joke on their mother.

Malachi Azure

Malachi listened as Lily-Ann Collins stepped up in front of everyone attempting to salvage her reputation and her view of the perfect funeral. That was one thing Malachi could give the woman credit for, she had a skill for spinning a story to make herself sound better. But then as soon as Lily-Ann had walked off, Valerie got up, saying there was something she had to do, and followed behind her. Malachi waited a few moments before going after his cousin. There was a lot he could get her out of, but he didn’t want the risk her getting into more trouble than he could get her out of. He stepped into the room where security had entered to take Val. “Let her go. She’ll leave on her own.” He looked to his cousin seriously. “Go Valerie, before you get yourself into more trouble with Mrs. Collins.” Malachi turned, stepping towards the woman and spoke in a hushed, but calm and serious tone. “There’s no need to take action against my cousin, Lily-Ann. She’s trying to process losing her best friend.”

Valerie couldn’t care less about the made up bullsh!t act Lily Ann was playing, she knew it was all fake and nothing of what she said even mattered.
Not too long has passed and she called security to take the girl away. For an 18 year old girl’s funeral, security is having quite a bunch of people to pick up and throw out of the damn church
You’re out of your league child.”
”Oh honey, even your league is plastic”
She muttered and rolled her eyes as the guard came and picked her up, turning to take her away, as Kai came into the conversation…?
what is he doing-
Let her go. She’ll leave on her own.”
He gave her a serious look and even though she didn’t want to, she knew inside her she should listen to him. She already did what she wanted, one person in juvie is enough for this class.
”Go Valerie, before you get yourself into more trouble with Mrs. Collins”
”Go and do what exactly? Leave you here with…” she looked at Lily Ann gesturing at her with her hand with a look of utter disgust on her face ”…This?” she asked referring to Lily Ann
There’s no need to take action against my cousin, Lily-Ann. She’s trying to process losing her best friend.”
”I wouldn’t have to if her mother had a fricken soul” she muttered quietly so they may or may not have heard her, but she didn’t care. she was overwhelmed by too many emotions all at once, that even though she wasn’t crying she still felt sad, but also angry, at Lily Ann, at Daniel… at herself… it was all too much she just didn’t know how to deal with it

Laughter escaped her lips as Davina and her talked in the woman’s bedroom, long after Jessica had changed into something she found that could fit her – thankfully discarding of the one thing that reminded her of Dorian. She had left her hair to naturally dry, not wanting to deal with straitening it or even tying it up – though in the midst of joking around, Jessica and Davina had done each other’s make-up for the hell of it. Honestly, It always felt natural to talk or even just be around Davina – whether they discussed life, or everything that had been going on, or even random stories of the past – which Jessica had quite a few of. Perhaps it was for the fact that the woman was a psychiatrist, or maybe it was just because Jess considered the woman to be a second mother, or even a close friend. Nevertheless, it truly felt like the two could bond over anything. Even when they were apart – Jessica did keep up with texting the woman constantly about everything and anything.

Though when the topic, not unexpectedly, moved back to Jessica’s love life – she was only glad when Dylan knocked and entered the room – saving her from avoiding the conversation amongst the plan the two had concocted. “Hey love,” Jess smiled at the man, who proceeded to lean against the wall with a knowing smile when he asked what the two of them were laughing about. “Wouldn’t you like to know? Well, if I’m being honest – we were talking about how you so badly lost that last game you were playing at,” Jess replied jokingly. It was only when he told the two women that he had finished cleaning that Jess realized how much Davina and herself had lost track of time. It was practically time for dinner – though, Jess was glad she had finished the sauce before Dylan had decided to throw the spaghetti at her.

“Well Davina, Dylan and I are going to finish heating up the food so it’s ready in time… this time without making a mess w*nker,” Jess smiled pointedly at Dylan, getting up and putting her hand purposefully on his shoulder in an attempt to hint that there may be something more going on. This… would be interesting to say the very least.

Time Skip – Dinner:

Jessica had spent the last forty or so minutes finalizing the meal, a skill she had learned growing up in the Parker household with the cook and later used for her little siblings wanting to give them a home cooked meal instead of escargot or something as she had growing up. World renowned chef Gordan Ramsey had nothing on her… okay maybe she was not that great but she had cooked in the kitchen with him once or twice when her parents had hired him to make a meal, so she picked up a few things. Honestly not as bad a guy as everyone said he was. They surprisingly had a great time together. He roasted her, and she roasted him right back.

Though, in the kitchen, Dylan and Jess did make sure to play the lovey-dovey stuff up as she let him try the sauce with her finger and he wrapped his hands around her while she was cooking – enough to imply there may be more than what meets the eye, especially when Davina came in to help them set up the table. Dylan wasn’t wrong when he had told her he could play the act of “loving boyfriend” well.

Jessica soon brought the food out, setting it down and giving Elijah, otherwise known as her second dad, a hug. A knowing smile met her lips as Dylan pulled her chair out for her and she jokingly countered with “Well thank you, my good sir… I don’t even think I got this much special treatment when my family had dinner with the Queen,” she laughed – attempting to ignore Dorian as he finally made an appearance taking a seat on the other side of Davina. Instead, Jess smiled at Dylan, discreetly… though not so discreetly so that Davina would see… putting her hand on top of his own on the table as Davina told Elijah that the two of them had made the food. “Yes, what didn’t end up on the ground ended up on your plates,” Jessica joked, “But honestly, please tell me what you think – my siblings say they like my food but they’re not the best judge of character since I bribe them with ice cream afterwards if they sing my praises,” she added with a smile. “Suffice to say they always sing my praises,” Jess added. “Anyways, Elijah, how’s work been? I haven’t seen you in ages ever since you and Davina went to Italy for that conference and I decided I couldn’t let my favorite two people be in Italy and not join them. And Elodie? How’s everything? Sorry we didn’t get to really talk before, you should have joined me and Davina in her room. On that note, I do think Davina’s eyebrows deserve special recognition today.” Jess laughed, motioning towards the light makeup she did on Davina’s face.

The conversations had started and laughter, mostly, had spread through the quiet room. The only two people not really engaging were, not surprisingly, Elodie and Dorian - Dorian more so. “Anyways… Davina I know you asked me before about my love life and this idiot interrupted us… actually,” Jess mumbled, looking at Dylan with a smile, “Would you like to tell them?”

Lily-Ann watched with a slight smile on her face as security had grabbed the brat, however, her smile soon faltered when someone stated “Let her go. She’ll leave on her own,” Lily-Ann would have countered - after all, letting Valeria go after she was physically assaulted? That was a big no in her book. That was until she saw who had said the words - familiarity coursing her veins immediately as she met the boy’s eyes. As the security guard looked at her, Lily-Ann nodded, watching as the girl was let go. Fear raced inside of her as she looked towards the two… further exacerbated when the man in front of her, Malachi - a child of a prominent business partner that Lily-Ann needed to be on good terms with - said the next words.

“There’s no need to take action against my cousin , Lily-Ann. She’s trying to process losing her best friend.”

“I-” Lily-Ann started, the realization that Valeria was family hitting her - her face losing all color immediately. "I am so sorry Mr. Azure, and Valeria. Please accept my apology. I guess I"m a little tense… it being my daughter’s funeral and all. " Lily forced through her lips as the brat had the audacity to say more heinous things towards her name. “That being said, I do still suggest Valeria go. We wouldn’t want another… outburst during a funeral. I hope you understand Mr. Azure,” Lily-Ann stated. “And I am so sorry once again… please… if you could not mention this to your parents,” she whispered - looking at the boy.

DeLoughrey’s

With slight furrowed brows, Dorian kept his gaze on Jessica as she set the food down on the table before giving his father a hug. How does she do that? How does she just come back and act like everything is alright when it isn’t? That was going through Dorian’s mind at that moment but that didn’t last for long as he remembered she actually stayed in touch with some people from her old life. But not him, as they all knew.
He subtly rolled his eyes, for what it felt like a millionth time that day, trying to actually ignore everything that was happening and not focus on the conversation she was having with his family.

“Yes, what didn’t end up on the ground ended up on your plates,”
“Would’ve been better if it stayed on the ground,” Dorian mumbled to himself as he looked to the side, away from his mother so she wouldn’t be able to hear him and like that he could see a small smile forming on Elodie’s lips as she glanced at him. At least someone was agreeing with him and at least someone made Elodie smile today, for real. Luckily his parents were so in love with Jessica that they didn’t even pay attention to him but that wasn’t anything new. He could’ve said that aloud and they still wouldn’t hear him - not really, but that was how he felt most of the time.

“It looks delicious, Jessica. And work’s been going great so far, thank you for asking,” Elijah replied with a proud smile on. With the way he was acting you could instantly tell how much he appreciated the girl, it was quite disturbing to Dorian. Even Elodie. The two of them were just sitting without saying a word, only listening to the conversation, or just pretending they did. It was like that until Jessica mentioned Elodie’s name, making her quickly look up from the table. “Good. She looks great.” Only four words she said in the past hour, even more than an hour, as she looked at her mother with a slight smile. But that smile soon fell as she looked back at the empty plate in front of her. What Dorian said did make her smile but she wouldn’t completely agree with him - the would did look delicious but it was a shame she wasn’t hungry at all. She couldn’t even remember if she had anything to eat today for that matter.

Dorian found himself staring at Jessica’s hand holding Dylan’s. He was so focused on that that he didn’t even notice how she didn’t say a word about him, not one single word. If he did, he would say “I don’t get a special shoutout? What’s been happening in my life? Let’s see. I could say a few words if you don’t want to,” or something along those lines. His gaze lifted up the moment he felt the tension building up. At least he felt like what they were about to say wasn’t right and seeing the way they looked at each other, seeing their smiles, their hands… he really was right. This was the first time today he actually gave the two of them his whole attention. He straightened up ad even leaned forward as he rested his elbows on the table, now looking at his brother intensely. Was it a smart choice?

“Me?” A nervous smile appeared on Dylan’s face as his hand reached the back of his neck and he whispered, looking at Jessica. He had no problem with being the one saying it, he actually wanted to do it himself but where’s the fun in doing it right away. There was nothing better than a “nervous” guy that’s supposed to say something so important. “Okay,” he slightly straightened up, gently taking her hand and intertwining their fingers as he moved his other hand on top. He kept his gaze on her for a bit, trying hard not to laugh.

“We would like to take this moment, when we’re all together, to announce that we…” He spoke up after a few seconds, looking between his mother and father. The corner of his lips curled up as he now looked back at Jessica and lifted her hand, gently kissing it, before he continued, “Are in fact dating.”
“And I know this means so much to you but please don’t overreact,” Dylan joked, looking at his mother that now had the biggest grin on her face. Was he feeling bad about it? Maybe. Probably. But at that moment it felt like this was the best joke he pulled with Jessica.

On the other side of the table, Dorian just stayed frozen, his chin resting on his hands as his gaze still remained on Dylan. What was he supposed to do? Congratulate them? No. Dylan should know better. She’s just going to leave one day again without saying anything and who is he going to blame? Himself?
Maybe he was just bitter at that moment, jealous, mad. He just didn’t like it and he couldn’t explain it. Did it hurt more than when she left? It did. It actually did. “You could do better, Dylan,” Dorian whispered to himself but if anyone was paying attention to him they could easily tell what he was saying. Leaning back in his chair, he shifted his gaze to Davina who looked like she just won the lottery, not that she would need that really but it made everything even worse. “Excuse me. I’ll come back in a minute but please do continue the celebration. You know where the champagne is,” Dorian stood up from the table, his eyes glued on Dylan as he tried to force the smile that only looked sarcastic, well it was. He wasn’t even sure what he was doing, he just needed to distance himself from that situation. So without listening to what they had to say, he turned around and headed towards the bathroom.

The tension on the left side of the room where she, Dylan, Davina, and Elijah sat was very different from the right side of the room. That much was obvious and Jessica honestly couldn’t blame Elodie and Dorian… well she wanted to blame Dorian a little bit… but she couldn’t. They were both in the wrong, though they were both stubborn as well. At the very least, Jessica was trying to be nice. Hell, what was the point of getting stuck on the past anyways? Jessica was just going to try to move on - forget about the sheer hatred that Dorian obviously possessed towards her, as seen by the earlier conversation in his room - and just… avoid it. Or try at least. Which is where this Dylan and her joke came in handy. Jessica’s mind was too busy making sure the minuscule movements of her body, the pointed looks, the facial expressions were playing perfectly towards their little plan to worry about anything else. It was a good distraction. Especially when she let her loving boyfriend take the lead to tell his family of their… relationship.

It took quite a bit of effort to keep a straight face and not burst into a fit of laughter. Especially as her fingers joined his before he placed a gentle kiss on them. Oh what a gentleman, - though if they were really in a relationship, lovey-dovey usually wasn’t Jessica’s sign of affection. No, instead, sarcasm was her go-to, but for playing a part - this was absolute gold.

A laugh left her lips as Dylan added in the part about not overacting and couldn’t help herself from getting up off her side of the table and walking over to him - wrapping her hands around his neck as she placed a kiss on the back his head. She moved her face to whisper in his ear, making sure it was incoherent to everyone else, who likely just thought she was whispering sweet nothings. “Bet you a hundred dollars that your parents are already imagining a date for when we’ll get married. So are you a fall wedding guy or…?.” she mumbled before placing a kiss on his cheek to really sell the act that she was telling him something sweeter than she actually did.

And with that one statement made by Dylan - a cascade of events occurred. Jess’ eyes moved towards Dorian briefly, watching him leave as he excused himself, and then Davina and Elijah started asking about a million and five questions about how it happened when it happened, why they just now got around to telling them about it, and so on. Though both Dylan and herself were good at jumping off each other - enough to make it seem real. Around the end of the questioning - and yes, Champagne was indeed popped by Elijah which did add to the hilarity of the situation - everyone ended up in the living room discussing all the pesky details.

“Okay… so tell us again… how exactly did this thing start. From the very beginning.”

Jess smiled sweetly at Dylan as she sat next to him on the couch. “Well… so remember when I told you that I didn’t have a date for the wedding because Andy was busy?” Jess questioned, starting from a point where they hadn’t started from before. “Well, you told me that Dylan was free and so I called this idiot up, and for some odd reason he agreed - though I’m still convinced you to put a knife to his head Davina,” Jess laughed. “Anyways, from there - we went to the wedding together, we danced, laughed, and realized that we have a lot in common and then he kissed me at the end of the night and I just knew. After that we started going on dates whenever the other was in town and then he asked me to be his girlfriend… we just wanted to make sure it worked out before telling you two though,” Jess smiled, “Isn’t that right love?” Jess asked as she leaned her head against his shoulder. Though, when Davina asked the question of “what was your first kiss like?” Jess didn’t expect Dylan to pull her on him and kiss her.

Perhaps if the room wasn’t so distracted, someone would have noticed the man standing in the hallway who had witnessed the whole scene. Or maybe even Elodie getting up and leaving without another word, giving a knowing look to Dorian. But they didn’t. Davina and Elijah were too busy toasting, and Jessica and Dylan were too busy kissing. Though, if Elodie and Dorian had stayed a moment longer - they would have seen that it was all a joke - one soon revealed as the kiss only lasted for so long before Jessica straight started laughing in the middle of it, unable to keep her composure any longer. Dylan wasn’t wrong, he was a good kisser - though she could definitely give him a run for his money - though, it was just the hilarity of the whole situation in general. “I’m… sorry…” Jess said, more laughter escaping her lips as she tried to catch her breath. “I can do it anymore you Dill pickle, I’m sorry Davina, Elijah this was just a long-winded joke. Dylan and I aren’t dating butttt we just wanted to teach both of you a little lesson for trying to set us up for the last… what has it been Dylan? 3 years?” Jessica mentioned, smiling at the shock on the two parents’ faces.

As Jessica looked around the living room, she noticed that Elodie had disappeared and Dorian seemingly never made his way back which she imagined that they likely just ditched the four during some time in the last hour. So the thought didn’t really raise any questions as Jess moved over to Mommy Davina and pulled her in for a hug. “I’m sorrryyyyy. Forgive me?” She laughed.

“We love you two, we just wanted you to stop with the couple stuff around us,” with a few more laughs, Jess saw the time and sighed. “As fun as this has been… I should probably also start getting back soon.”

Jezebel Mallory Sloane

Jezebel nodded when Daniel said he would send a car to pick her up. He at least was making sure she had a ride to his place. After all, since they hadn’t been talking, her main modes of transportation anywhere were walking, or just riding a bicycle. She couldn’t force herself to get behind the wheel of a car, and there were only so many ways she could get a ride places, especially without having her grandparents mad at her for getting a ride from someone she didn’t know. Daniel knew that. She had no idea what to expect with going to Daniel’s. It could turn out well, or it could just become a fight. She gave a small, weak smile with a nod. “I’ll see you then, Daniel.” Jezebel said as she watched Daniel walk away.

Time Skip

Jezebel went home not that long after her conversation with Daniel. She was still struggling with everything from the weekend, and being at her friend’s funeral, but soon enough, her thoughts were focused on what she could even say to Daniel. It was the first time he was willing to speak with her since he found out what she should have told him so long ago about her being his sister. Having a brother wasn’t even the part that was important to her anymore, she just wanted her best friend back. She was holding onto that hope of things going back to the way they were as tight as she could, because if that hope was gone, it would break her. When the car was there to pick her up, she got in and spent the drive just trying to think of what to say. Then once she was there, she took a deep breath, unaware of what to expect from her former best friend, because with Daniel it could be anything.

Maverick Weston

Maverick watched as Jordan turned the car off and grabbed the keys. He had no way to argue against him. Everything Jordan said was just more of a reason why Maverick should go through with it, none of which left any room to protest. “Why does it even matter?” Maverick mumbled. He did not want to walk in there at all, but Jordan wasn’t giving him any choice. He couldn’t let a friend pay for something like this, but he couldn’t afford it. He even couldn’t do it for himself because he didn’t care what happened to himself. He didn’t want to hurt his sisters, but there were moments where the thought crossed his mind that they were just as well off or better without him. “I’ll do better… I’ll get my act together…” No matter what Maverick promised, he couldn’t guarantee he could get better on his own, or even that he would actually try on his own. Going into rehab was admitting just how bad he had gotten, something Maverick wasn’t ready to admit to himself. He sat there, no longer looking at Jordan, for quite a while before all he said was, “Fine.” Nobody could know where he was. Maverick didn’t care what kind of reasoning was given, but other than his dad and Jordan, nobody could know.

Dorian decided to come back to the dinning room at the worst possible moment. The thought of seeing his brother and Jessica kissing didn’t even cross his mind, it still felt unreal to think that they were actually… dating. Just. Wow. But he didn’t even have to imagine that happening because that was the first thing he saw as he made a turn, stopping immediately. Everyone in that room seemed happy, while that was the last thing he felt. They started dating, what was so special about it? And they really listened to him and got a champagne? It was ridiculous in his opinion, unnecessary. They were celebrating something so stupid. When was the last time they did that for Dorian? He couldn’t even remember it. When Dylan was the captain of the football team they were so proud but when Dorian did that too, what did they do? Oh, nothing. Just like for everything else he’s achieved. But… he was just jealous at that moment and incredibly hurt. For so many reasons.

It was funny that they didn’t even notice he was standing there, they didn’t even pay attention to Elodie when she got up claiming “she wasn’t feeling well”. She wasn’t, so her excuse was good enough but what was he supposed to say? At least she was the only one that saw him there as she turned to walked away and head upstairs to her room. She gave him a knowing look that confused him for a moment because there was just so much happening. But he decided to follow her and leave the rest of his family to celebrate such a beautiful moment that made his stomach turn.

“How are you today?” Catching up to her as she started going up the stairs, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, gently pulling her in for a side hug. Having a conversation about the dinner was the last thing he wanted and he was sure she was feeling the same way. Her silence wasn’t strange to him, to the whole family, so he didn’t want to bother her that much. The begging of this day was already too much so she was probably feeling the way he was. Just wishing the day was over. “Fine,” was the only thing she said as she lazily placed her hand on his back, reaching her room.

And as they separated, he did the only thing he knew how to do best. Grabbing the keys of his car, he just wanted to get away from the situation, away from the house and people in it. He didn’t even have a real plan - his plan was just to drive around and say how he was going out with someone.
“I’m going out,” he mumbled, playing with the car keys as he stopped in front of the kitchen, only looking at Davina. But as he was about to turn around and leave, he heard his brother, “Wait. Can you give Jess a ride? I have to finish something before midnight.” A chuckle escape Dorian’s lips as he slightly turned his head to look at Dylan who was helping with the cleaning. What a lovely boyfriend, he can’t even give his girlfriend a ride back home. “No. She can get an uber.”
“No.” Davina stopped with whatever she was doing, giving Dorian a look he knew pretty well by now. Of course she wasn’t happy with that, it wasn’t logical after all but he really, really didn’t want to spend another minute with Jessica. Alone.
Dorian sighed, shifting his weight from one leg to another before whispering, “I’ll wait in the car.” Only because that was indicated to Jessica, he glanced at her for a split second before walking away from them, leaving the front door open.

The day really was only getting better and better. This was a real cherry on top. The thought of just leaving without waiting for Jessica did cross his mind but he wasn’t that… cruel. Davina would probably make him come back so it wasn’t even worth trying. But how fun would that be? He tried to imagine that scene - how would Jessica feel? Would it make her mad, annoyed, would she think it was funny? Well, he didn’t know because he felt like he didn’t even know Jessica anymore, unlike other people around him. He didn’t get that chance to learn what she loved to do now, what she hated, what truly made her happy… A strange thing to think about considering they were once good friends. He was lost in his thoughts for what it felt like forever until he heard the door opening and saw her getting in. “I’ll drop you off somewhere close to Daniel’s house, I don’t want him to see me,” was the only thing Dorian mumbled before starting the car and only paying attention to the road in front of him.

It took a few minutes, though after a while of shameless apologizing and hugging the DeLoughrey parents, they had forgiven the two miscreants for messing around. Jessica did, however, hear Davina mumble “You’d still make a cute couple,” under her breath to Elijah which just made Jess and Dylan share a knowing look. Oh well, they tried. At the very least it would reduce the number of comments they made about the two.

While helping clean, Jessica did continue joke around with Dylan, adding in “Well, you were a great fake boyfriend for the last hour, whatever am I going to do without you?” - over exaggerating the last part as her hand moved to her head to mimic fake worry. Though soon, a sigh left her lips as she noticed her phone was dead. This usually wouldn’t be a problem since Jess’ phone was dead 99% of the time as she barely ever used the infernal device… and often forgot to charge it - always being an old soul by heart. Though, this time around, she was going to call an uber which wasn’t really do-able without it. “Hey Dylan, mind calling an uber or lyft for me?” She asked the man, though before he could do it, Dorian had come downstairs with the words ”I’m going out,”

If there was a wrong time for anything – it was that. Because the instant the man said those words, it was met with Dylan securing her ride through Dorian. “No really I can just…” Jess started though Davina had already had her say in the matter. Another sigh left her lips as she realized there was no arguing, so she just gave the three people in the house who actually liked her one last hug as Dorian made his way to the car, before putting her heels back on and walking outside in the dark. In honesty, she was almost considering just walking. Sure, it was a 25-minute drive and that meant over an hour and a half long walk at 11 pm at night, with no working phone, but it’s wasn’t the first time she’d done that, and she doubted it would be the last. Jessica had always been one that would walk down the dark alley at 3 am with no care in the world. Fear just wasn’t in her vocabulary. Though she knew Davina was likely watching her from the window, being the protective mum she was. So instead, she took a deep breath, opened the passenger seat of Dorian’s car which, let’s be honest, was located on the wrong damn side in America, and buckled in. After a nod towards Dorian’s words about dropping her off close to Daniel’s house – she turned to face him. “Just drop me off next to the gate and I can walk the rest of the way inside.” She stated before facing out the window again, tapping her finger on the edge of the door as he begin driving.

Remember the moment when Jessica was literally naked on top of Dorian? Like butt naked with everything single body part on top of one another as she dripped from the shower she had just taken – apparently in Dorian’s own shower where one could just imagine the number of STDs she could have caught… though with the way he acted, she, again, wasn’t sure who’d be willing to get into bed with the idiot? Yeah? Well, this was worse. The “This” being stuck in a small, confined space for a 25-minute drive back to Dan’s house. It was absolute torture. Though it may be surprising that Jessica would pick this moment over the prior where she saw… a little too much of Dorian DeLoughrey– at least there was a mode of escape with that one. However, 25 minutes… awkward silence meant just one thing. Jessica’s nonstop talking.

She stayed silent for the first five minutes – which honestly was a feat in itself. Though after those five minutes, she just couldn’t stay quiet anymore. Instead – she straightened up, and finally turned back towards him for the first time since she got into the car. “Soooo…. Dorian….do you still prefer that I call you that? I imagine Dori’s out of the picture since you hate me?” Jess asked, genuinely curious. “though I guess since you’re going out of your way to ignore me we won’t really be calling each other anything besides giving each other disgruntled looks in the hallway when we do have the honor of passing one another or whenever Davina invites me back to your place…. Thoughhhhh I’ll try to make sure the next gathering is outside of your house if that helps with the melodramatic, moody teenager act you have going?” Jessica questioned. Though she didn’t stop there. Jessica soon moved her fingers to the radio buttons and started messing with the stations playing – her words not ceasing as she looked for a song. “You know what bothers me. How come Americans drive on the wrong side of the road. Like, do you understand the number of times I’ve started driving on the left and had to go back on the right? Outrageous…” she explained with a soft smile - trying to ease the tension which could quite literally be cut with a pickle. Yes, a pickle. A knife would be too easy. She stopped messing with the radio station at a station that was playing Christmas music in March – an ironic twist which she found amusing as ‘Santa Baby’ begin playing.

“What is it with this song anyways? She’s like trying to seduce a 1000-year-old man for more gifts – she should just look for another sugar daddy that isn’t Santa… oh… or are they talking about sex roleplay and her sugar daddy is the one dressed up as Santa… oohhhhh. You know that might be it. I dated a guy once that was into dressing up… let’s just say that didn’t last very long when he asked me to dress up like Michelle Obama to turn him on. I quite literally gave him a look and walked out,” Jess revealed as the man continued to drive. It was partly a joke and partly the truth - though it made for some good silence filling discussion… if Dorian would say anything more than a frustrated silence or one-word answers. So… she tried to up the antics and see if she could get a response out of him. Why she was trying - she didn’t know. All she knew was she couldn’t exactly stop either.

“So… on the note of sex… how much sex have you had in this car anyways? It’s pretty roomy in here I’m going to guess… 2?” Jess mumbled, looking at his facial features to see if there were any changes, “4…? Come on Dorian give me something… a pre-historic cave-man grunt will do.” Jess teased. “Oh… Did you ever hook up with Emily Dalton? That girl was obsessed with you in middle school. She used to write D+E Forever in hearts in the girl’s bathroom and chased away 99% of the girls who wanted to ask you out in the 7th grade. She even tried to threaten me to back off and I guess it’s ironic since I technically did huh? Not necessarily for that purpose but you know what I mean…” she questioned, taking a ‘breathing break’ that was needed with her endless talking - before looking back at him to see if he’d give her the honor of a response. Though… if there was any time she should have stopped talking, it probably should have been then. There were perhaps some topics that shouldn’t be mentioned… the reason for their fallout being one of them. Though as she waited, a sigh left her lips. “You know what, just pull over right here. I’ll walk the rest of the way.” Jess uttered, pointing towards the shoulder of the highway. Anything was better than this.
