Pre-Dance 1: with Lady Emma Wycliff, heading to Lady Adeline Delaney
As Magnus gazed around in a sea of faces, most he recognised, many he wished not to talk with. Finally locking eyes with the diamond of transcendent beauty, he smiled toward her. It only lasted a mere second as he was jolted. Someone had stumbled into him with cloven hooves.
“Your manners leave much to be desired, as though you were raised by a pack of wild animals,” Magnus spoke before looking at who he was speaking to. His voice deep but not his usual soothing appeal as there was a hint of annoyance in it. Turning to face the beast who had done this, he learnt that it was Lady Emma, the daughter of a Viscount. Some of his annoyance was lost as he straightened his jacket. “One should look where she’s headed, unless you would prefer to lead up the garden path.” A flicker of smirk flashed over his face with that last line.
He looked back over in Adeline’s direction to see if she was still watching.
