I think that’s why this year when I go to football games and downtown to tailgate I don’t feel like I still need to have my guard up because I don’t live there anymore so I don’t have to worry about possibly seeing my students since I live/teach in a different town now

Yep, I struggled with this. I had to so many set backs with me deciding what I wanted to do in life and i know 23 ain’t old but I see my past classmates already starting their careers and it’s hard to be positive sometimes.
But I’m finally back in school and just trying to get through it lol

I get that! It’s weird seeing your friends basically have their stuff together but trust me; everyone has their own insecurities about where they are in life.
I read a study about them doing a comparison in people who do something right after college compared to those who have graduate school/etc take longer
and basically both groups felt like they missed out.
I think it’s more the feeling of “what if” but trust me, you’re not behind. You’re figuring your own life out and LOOK AT YOU BEING BACK IN SCHOOL AND DOING THAT. THAT’S AMAZING. Be proud of your work and never compare it to someone else.
