China Banning Black People

Wait what the hell

It’s truly terrible, and when you look at it some of the people who suffered the most were people who run shops related to Chinese or Asian culture. I literally had a classmate say her mom would not go to a Chinese restaurant. On the news a man got jumped and robbed because he was Chinese, and the people doing it said it was his fault for the corona pandemic.

Step up America.

Honestly, the biggest problem with the black community at the moment is colorist. It’s this idea that if you aren’t this shade you aren’t black enough or beautiful enough. We put down light skins for being to white, we put down dark skins for being to black. We separate ourselves, we are the ones causing the problem.

This is exactly what was done to us all those years ago, and here were are again repeating it to ourselves. This is our biggest problem, second being our ignorance towards mental health.

Exactly. Colourism is an extention of racism and there is literally no point of combating anti-black racism whilst reinforcing anti-blackness. When some black men degrade black women under the guise of a “preference” but expect those same “undesirable” women to speak up for them it’s so counterproductive and also gross. I’m also tired of the flip-flopping between “why can’t the black community just focus on itself” and when that time comes it’s “why can’t we focus on ending racism”. Pick one!

These things are both hurtful but are products of the same system. Some dark-skin people take out there trauma from colourism onto light-skin women and this isn’t ok but this isn’t the same as active erasure from the media (including media created by other black people), the skin bleaching epidemic, extended prison sentences etc. It would be a lot more productive to address colourism as rather than a hurting b’s feelings and vice versa but as a form institutionalized form of oppression.

A-lot of our community still holds on to that slavery mindset, And all the stereotypical sh*t.
Admittedly tons of our people complain about be stereotyped which is wrong but often times we act like the stereotype. It’s frustrating watching our community be bashed.

Truthfully slavery never went away, Mentally or physically black people still live by “It’s a white man’s world.” Til’ this day.

I find that this is specifically tied to gender also.

Lightskin girl= cute
Lightskin boy = weak, softt (although generallly still accepted)
Darkskin girl = loud, ghetto, angry, ratchet, masculine
