D&D Adventure Begins - The Kraken

Just off to the left, slightly off their path, behind a newly formed wall rocks and ruins was something that smelled delicious. It smelled like a Full English breakfast, or at least part of it, as it smelled of black pudding cooking. Instead of hearing the sound of frying though, all that was heard was splish and a splash.
Before the group of five was a puddle of black oily bubbling liquid with a circumference of about 3 metres. Sticking out from the puddle’s centre was a human arm, the hand seemed to be fully intact but from the rest down was only ulna. Though it smelled like it should be food, if they touch it, it’ll dissolve bones!

This Black Pudding gloop is resistant to weapons. So -5 to all rolls for weapon attacks.

Okay, so you attack one at a time, whoever wants to go first or whoever is online. The creature attacks after each attack. How do you attack? Look at your character sheet and choose one of your three weapons or your skill (if not used). I will roll a d20 to see if you’re effective and you know what you need to roll by the roll number next to it.

I’d like to use Nature Attack.
Lucan’s eyes roll over to the back of his head, leaving nothing but a glowing white in its place. The air around him billows, forcing the rocks to be lifted off the ground, heading straight for the strange oily creature.

I dont know if I was supposed to describe it, but it did say describe how you use nature. Sorry if I messed up or something!

Can I use this so everyone will get more stamina? :eyes::green_heart:

Yes, I will roll for it and you’ll either get 1 or 2 stamina points depending on the roll, but who do you choose to get it?

That’s totally cool. Thank you so much for this. (wink)

Immediately understanding that a physical weapon would probably not work very well on a sticky puddle of tar, Thia realised their magical voice would work best. Not just their voice but their laugh. Thia let out such a boisterous and horrendous laugh that… did nothing at all. Of course, it hadn’t any ears, what could really be expected?! Though the puddle was still irritated, it seemed. As an impossible wave erupted outward, toward Thia, and covered Thia in a corrosive blob. (-1 damage to Thia)

Rolls… Thia: 5 and Creature: 6

As its attention was on Thia, Lucan’s eyes rolled over to the back of his head, leaving nothing but glowing white in its place. The air around him billowed, forcing the rocks around them to be lifted off the ground, above their heads, and fly straight for the strange oily puddle. Over a dozen rocks bombed the tarred pool in a beautiful synchronised dive. (-3 damage to the Black Pudding) The only downside that in hindsight Lucan should have considered the splash-back in the form of a corrosive blob. (-1 damage to Lucan)

Rolls… Lucan: 20 and Creature: 6

@Acorn06 or @ethereal, whoever wants to go first. And also @Duckling, who out of the five heroes would give the stamina to?

Question - do we just make up these things? Or is there something somewhere that’s like: here’s a list of things you can do

In context I’ve never played D&D before, so I have a vague idea of the rules, but that’s about it  I’m hoping it won’t be an issue ig lol

No worries, questions are great. I love questions. So for your baby, you click on them and hidden info will be seen, as Skyler said. You can use Blow Darts, Throwing Daggers, Sleight of Hand, or the one time use per area Sneak Attack.

This is up to you, as in the first story post I suggested they were family but not what. They could either be siblings, partners/married, parent/child, aunt/uncle and child, cousins, etc. Up to you two.

Having two of the group covered in thick black gunk now, Salazar decided it best to help the group out since they were probably feeling quite drained. When they see someone in need or even just getting tired, their first instinct is always to help. Muttering a few soothing words, Salazar focused on the two who were covered in gunk.

Rolls… Salazar: 11 and Thia/@elixr goes up by 2 stamina and Lucan/@Skyler2 goes up by 2 stamina.

OOOO ok
idk if this is a very good idea
but could Kiya maybe use their magic to trick the monster into thinking it is seeing a duplicate of itself?

Seeing the black tar stuff covering Thia and Lucan, and unsure what on Earth Salazar was doing, Kiya decided that it might best to trick the puddle in the hope it’d confuse it. Kiya sprayed their hands out in front of them. Focusing on the puddle, they managed to draw attention to them. The puddle looked as if it were doing nothing but the hand at its centre shot straight out, the bony arm still attached, straight their neck. It started to suffocate Kiya. (-2 damage to Kiya)
