Danganronpa: Alternate - Official Roleplay

Location: Gymnasium

Shiniqua woke up by the sound of the speakers. She got up from the floor which was a bit dusty and dusted her short pink dress. She looked around and stood in the middle of what looked like a gymnasium. There were a few people lying on the floor, other interacting with other people and many were entering the gymnasium. Suddenly, the large monitor’s screen turned on and a big silhouette stood there. Later, it was revealed that it was a giant… bear? Shiniqua was confused. But, she snickered quietly at how ridiculous this was. Apparently, all the Ultimates were trapped in this “school” until they kill someone and get away with it. Again, this seemed untrue. She couldn’t imagine her whole life in fear in a dull, boring school, which was probably filled with homicidal psychopaths!

After Monokoma or whatever that thing’s name was, finished telling the rules, it mysteriously disappeared. She walked towards the auditorium’s stage and grabbed her e-handbook. She turned it on and saw her name in a cool font and a logo which looked like the school’s symbol. While she was at this “school”, she decided to spend her time exploring the place. It would be good to know the place. While walking towards the exit of the gymnasium, she bumped into a dark-haired guy with bright green eyes. He wore a white bandage around one eye which she thought was supposed to be an eye-patch.

“Hey, watch where you’re going!” she scowled at him.

“Ouch, you must love it though, If you continue with it. I could hardly survive one.” Amari smiled as he spoke, especially about his mother. Her heart filled with warmth at the end of his sentence. It was adorable, you could tell by how he spoke how much he cared for her. “I bet she is. She sounds like she knows what she’s doing.” She told him, still smiling from before. She blushed as well, biting the inside of her lip. “I’d love that. Best not to disappoint me then.”She teased him with a small laugh and a wink. She started to walk and waited for him to do so as well. “Come on, slow poke.” She doesn’t openly joke around a lot with people she doesn’t know, but she grew used to him already. Her stomach grumbles and she thanked the lord for him actually waiting a little before coming so he didn’t hear. Now that would be sort of embarrassing.

”Whatever makes you happy.”
This simple statement alone brought a smile to her face. Not that it had ever really left, though, to be fair. As Xiulan explained that she did not want to be referred to as “Xiu” by her just yet, Himari nodded and hummed in thought. “Ah, I see! So you wouldn’t say that we’re friends yet, right? Hmm… well, don’t worry! I’ll make sure that that changes soon, Xiu…lan.” She held out the first syllable of her name, ready to cut it off there until she reminded herself to add on the latter half.
For awhile, Xiulan said nothing. “Ah, are you having a quiet time right now or something? I can definitely do that!” Even though she said she could remain silent, she merely meant with her words and with her words only. She bummed a little tune as she followed somewhat behind Xiulan. Suddenly, though, she stopped and turned to face her. Himari yelped quietly in response, cutting off her little tune as she forced herself to a stop. “Gah! … Ultimate Lab? That sounds like it could be fun,” she responded with a small smile. Strangely enough, Himari was more excited about getting to explore the building and see all the various rooms more than the chance of finding a way to escape.
“Alright, seems like a good time! What would you like to know though?” She walked a bit faster so that she matched pace with the taller girl. “I work with plants, if that interests you? I mean, I’d assume it does to some degree because… well…” her words drift as she gestures at Xiulan’s outfit that was decorated in flowers.

At first, he had not even realized that anyone was talking to him. He had somewhat been in his own world, focused and determined to find an exit. Or, at the very least, to find something that may help their chances with survival. If everything the bear said had been true, then he would not put it past anyone that the chance of there being a person with the capability for killing was here.
He decided to at least hear the girl out though, despite not really wanting to, so he stopped in his tracks. After she finished with her proposal, he pressed his lips together and held back a laugh. Ryo closed his eye, shaking his head as he said, “You? And me? Partner up?” His voice was not necessarily kind— with clipped words and a somewhat snappy tone… He couldn’t tell if this was a genuine request or if she was messing with him. Granted, she seemed rather nervous to approach him just as any other person normally did. Deciding to entertain her, he answered, “Fine. You’re one of the few people that actually the courage to come up to me so… I’ll entertain you for awhile. But first, I’m Ryo Himura. The Ultimate Survivor. And you?”

He reluctantly nodded. “I… I do have to admit, sometimes it gives me a thrill.” He said quietly. He wasn’t proud of it. His talent wasn’t the type of thing that should give anyone pride. But sometimes, when he was watching them all run and scatter, when he closed in to take what he needed… He snapped out of it just in time to see that Amari had already took off for the kitchen.

“Hey, wait up!” He cried, running after her.

“Come on, slow poke.” She teased him, rounding a corner and going through a pair of large swinging doors. He followed after her and the two of them eventually ended up in the staff-only kitchen, where there was a small seating area with a door that lead to the kitchen itself.

“Wait out here.” He told her. For the first time in a long, long while, there was genuine excitement in his voice. “I wanna surprise you.” He dashed into the kitchen, prepared to grab all the best ingredients, but he was surprised to find that a boy about his age was already in there before him.

“Oh, hi.”

Sara furrowed her brows in annoyance. Is he serious? Of course, the moment she decides not to for once do something by herself it back fires. God just knows when to screw with her. She rolled her eyes at him. “Look, If you don’t want to, don’t. It’s as simple as that.” She fires back before hearing his response. She laughed, a bit coldly she might add. “Ah, gotcha. I’m known to be a bit too courageous at time.” She teased him before continuing on.”Hmm, how interesting. Well, I’m Sara Tanako, the Ultimate poker player, Ryo.” She spoke sharply as she said his name before cooling down. Screw her and her mild temper. She is gonna be with him for however long, shouldn’t be a b!tch about it. “Might as well not waist time and get on with moving.” She inches towards the doors waiting for him to do the same before they start exploring. Wherever it This school leads them, it better be good because she is not gonna explore if there is nothing interesting here.

She listened,”I bet, even if not super dangerous, some scream and run away.” She laughed aloud. “I may or may not used to be one of those people. Well before I figured as long as I don’t bother them, they dont bother me.” She grinned while thinking about it. “Don’t even get me started on my brothers. I bet one of them would be the first one out.” She let a few laughs out and stopped herself from laughing too much.

She put her hands up in her defense. “You were being slow if you didn’t hear me.” She joked. As they entered, she could see that everything was still in pristine condition which doesn’t make sense for some of her theories. She shakes those thoughts out of her head. She was having fun. “Okay, okay, I’ll be out here. Don’t take too long now.” She chuckled and made her way to sit down at the bar stool right outside.

Ryo has been so absorbed in his own world, as usual, that he did not notice the smaller girl walking in the same direction. Due to the angles at which they walked, along with the speed, they naturally bumped into each other. In his defense, though, he only had half the sight of a normal person at this point.
As the girl scowled at him, he raised a brow and sharply pointed towards his bandaged eye. “Not quite sure that that was necessarily my fault, little one,” he responded with clipped words to express his annoyance. He wanted to prepare himself to avoid a tragedy, not stand around and talk to some brat. Ryo paused for a moment, looking her up and down quickly. “What? Are you the Ultimate Klutz or something?” A frown appeared on his face as he asked. At times, he almost felt bad for those who managed to run into him. After all, he not exactly the most welcoming or kind person. Especially when someone else greeted him with an attitude similar to her’s.

Well that was unexpected. “Oh? So you’ve got a bit of kick in you, huh? Didn’t expect that. I’ve already made up my mind for now, though.” That was more comforting. It seemed more natural then the false sort of ‘shy girl’ facade she initially had that Ryo hated. Granted, he was not about to necessarily be kind and open up to her right away. If anything, it would be best to stick around with her and make it so that by the end of the time spent together, she did not want to be around him. It was better if her were on his own-- his Ultimate title said it all. With being the Ultimate Survivor comes Ultimate Loss.
Despite feeling a bit better that she had shown her temper, discarding any possibility for false pretenses, he did not let up too much with the attitude. It was rather funny, though, how the fact that she spoke his name so sharply put him somewhat at ease. "Good idea, Sara."
As the two make their way towards the door, he pulls up the map on his e-handbook. “Any specific place that you have in mind? The storage room or library could be interesting for an exit or just… something useful in general. They’re both at the edge of the building,” he finished, deciding he would let her choose. She could easily choose some other area but it seemed that a good bit of the rooms were locked. The basement was off-limits as of right now, along with the majority of the other floors, however many there were.

“Ah, I see! So you wouldn’t say that we’re friends yet, right? Hmm… well, don’t worry! I’ll make sure that that changes soon, Xiu…lan.” As Xiualn hears every word she utters, she tries to remain calm an collected s to not waste energy on such a girl she thinks is quite… pathetic. With every word she utters, the hums that roams around the hall, the sound of another cackle made Xiulan sure that she was still behind her and somehow made Xiulan silently giggle as the thought of how she’s already acting as if she was part of her lavish court that she imagines; though of course, a maid was more appropriate in her mind than some noble background she would think.

With her idea that culminates around that, she was finally deciding that she could be of good use, making her decision to investigate the Ultimate Lab. As she walked faster, she came near to Xiulan and mentioned about her very obvious talent; but she gestures something else entirely. Xiulan looked at her head and pulled one of the flowers in her hair; the chrystathemum flower, “These? This is a ronghua… If you don’t know, it’s a velvet flower. Quite pretty I would say, but i would want a tsan-tsui hairpin than these. Not that I’m saying it’s ugly. It would just fit my color palette more if I could say.”

Xiulan places back her hairpin in her hair as they were getting near the destination. When looking at the hall, she was mezmerised by its beauty and was quite amazed by it’s beautiful decorations and architecture. When looking at the door, she looked at one of the doors and looked at Himari, “Himari, be a dear and open that door for me.” She pointed to the door as she looks and stretched her long, slender arms.

As he looked up to see his final meal, a simple tomato soup, he waited for it to cool off as he grabbed something to taste the soup he made. It was delectible, although he decidedthat it could use some more seasoning and tried to perfect the tomato soup that he made. He continued on to re-doing and tasting the soup until he found it very much perfect to his liking. He plans on taking the soup to the auditorium, but then saw two people come inside the cafeteria; possibly to investigate the room.

As he would expect, he knew that people would go inside the kitchen and look for something, like an exit. Without hesitation,he hid from behind the counters as his refelxes kicked in his nervousness around them. He tried to at least be courageous when someone is near and is cooking, but he would always become a little timid, curl into a little ball, and looked at these people worringly. He was not the best talker when it comes to situations like this, especially as the two looked very intimidating. He hid behind the counters until they saw him, so he got up from the counter but only grabbing the counter and showing his eyes. He said to them, “Uh… h-hi there! W-would you like some… soup? It’s, er, um… t-tomato soup! I h-hope you like it.” He then grabbed two bowls and served it to the two people, hoping they won’t hurt him or something.

“Theirs a lot of things about me that people don’t

sense the double meaning. Well, she doesn’t need
to be super nice to him either. She thought, stifling
a laugh that was trying to come out. Gotta try and
out on her poker face, not like she needs it here
though. Contemplating it, she ultimately decides on
not. She’ll do it when she has to. Arching her brow
in response to his words, she looked back ahead.
Brushing a few pieces of hair that fell out of her

and cons. Storage room probably has an exit right?
At least something, maybe a map with any exits on
it. “I say we go to the storage room.” She said,
glancing over at his e-book and pointed to the
hallway to the right,”This way.” She says turning
down the hallway, it was a very long one was well.

Shiniqua felt a bit bad for scowling at him when one of his eyes was bandaged. "Sorry, " she looked down at the floor. He was taller than her, but not tall enough to call her ‘little one’. She was offended by that. “Who are you calling ‘little one’?” she crossed her arms and frowned. “Maybe you’re just too tall, Mr Skyscraper!” though the nickname sounded ridiculous, this was the only name she could come up with. She wouldn’t want to use her precious brain cells to come up with a comeback which wouldn’t even mean anything to him.

Shiniqua noticed him looking at her up and down. “You checking out me, right now?” she scoffed and turned away from him. "Are you the Ultimate Klutz or something? she was startled by his question. How can anyone be so rude?! “I’m not sure about that, but I definitely know that you’re an Ultimate Jerk!”

Himari could not help herself when she began admiring the tiny, velvet flower. Of course, nothing could beat the actual, living plant but she was admittedly captivated by the detail. If it had not been for the obvious difference in texture and shine, she might have been fooled as to whether or not it was real. At least, from a distance. She was the Ultimate Botanist, after all. If she were able to get her hands on it, she would find out immediately. “Hm… I agree about the color palette but it is stunning. I’m so use to being around the real thing that I’ve never seen something like this!” It was difficult to force her eyes off of the small hair piece but if she did not look away soon, she would more than likely drift too close to the wall for comfort. “If it helps, though, I really think that the flowers tie the whole outfit together!” Of course, she was a tad bit bias in saying this and she knew little of fashion but… nonetheless, she figured that some sort of reassurance or compliment would be a nice gesture.
Upon seeing the intricate hallway with high ceilings, Himari let out a low whistle. “Oh… wow…” The atmosphere was drastically different from the rest of the building that the two had seen thus far. As if this area was special. “Hm? Oh, sure!” With some pep in her step, Himari opened the door closest to them and they soon got their answer as to why this area of the building was so special. Inside was presumably the Ultimate Basketball Player’s lab. “This… is not what I expected…” Her mouth fell into an open ‘o’ shape.

Her response also threw him off guard as he did not expect the sudden change in tone. His brow raised in a silent question that he did not feel like asking because, once again, he had no intention on getting to know her or anyone else stuck in this school beyond the surface level. So he said nothing.
He held the e-handbook out for her to see once she leaned over, taking a step back. “Alright, storage room it is. Hope you’re not in any rush because this hallway looks a bit long. It’s practically the other side of the building,” he said with a somewhat dramatic sigh. Granted, the library was not much closer and the two could always work their way back to where they were now, stopping by other areas if they wanted… that was assuming that the two could stand being near each other that long, though.
“So let’s get going, miss Sayu.” Yes. He did get her name wrong on purpose. Until he thought up a nickname, he would most likely continue to do so. After all, he enjoyed providing nicknames and he did not want to take a liking to her real name.
For a few moments, it was silent. Almost eerily so. Everyone had split up and gone in completely different directions. With somewhat genuine curiosity, he asked. “Say, what do you think happens if we don’t find an exit? I’m not quite so optimistic about it.”

And there was the usual pity he often received once people took a look at his eye, if not fear. It ultimately always came down to one of the two. However, in her defense, people more often went with fear; his demeanor often lead people to believe that he had somehow brought the damage upon himself. You could argue that that was true, even if unintentional, due to his infamous title and talent.
“Maybe you’re just too tall, Mr. Skyscraper!”
He snorted but his eyes remained somewhat distant and for the most part bored. There was only the smallest hint of amusement shining through. Yet his expression reverted back to a true neutral as he ignored her question and turned it around on her rather quickly. “Ah, so the Ultimate Jerk and the Ultimate Klutz have a head-to-head showdown. That could be interesting but I’m unfortunately the Ultime Survivor, Ryo Himura. Such a shame. I kind of would have loved to see that,” he answered with a thoughtful facade. “Speaking of which, you know that it’s rude to refrain from introducing yourself, right, short stack?” Although the two were not that far off in height, he could not help himself for sneaking in another nickname-- it was somewhat enjoyable.

As walking in the hallway, she ultimately stayed shut as to just listen to her than wasting her energy on someone that she doesn’t even care for. Well, at least a little. But of course, not all people would expect that majority of the jewerly she wears more artificial than natural; like flowers, she’d expect that some would take it as real flowers. But as they walked to their destination, a word was caught in her mind that surely was worth wasting her energy to speak. “If it helps, though, I really think that the flowers tie the whole outfit together!”

“Of course, my fashion is just merely a modern takes on Chinese imperial fashions. Flowers were popular motifs. I don’t doubt the fact these flowers suit me. But I appreciate your dazzling comment.” Xiulan had a small smile on her face as she loved the compliments given to her. Really boosting up a confidence already high for her.

When reaching the destination, she found herself curious to the buildings as to its gracefulness and commanded Himari to open the nearest door. They looked to see that it was the Ultimate Basketball Player’s lab. Himari, being so shocked, made Xiulan filled with curiousty, “So I’m guessing these labs are for talents. Lots of balls, quite boring honestly. And stop with that shocked look, you look dumb.”

And so with that answer in her head, she commanded Himari, “Himari, since we discoverd about this. I would like you to investigate more on the other rooms. Maybe even look for mine. Open the doors and look at each rooms. And yeah, you could also search for yours, but whatever.”

The annoying guy had introduced himself as Ryo Himura. Apparently, he was the Ultimate Survivor. Shiniqua was pretty sure that he must have survived through some tough situations for him to get his eye bandaged like that. She was quite impressed, but her pride didn’t allow her to show it. “Not delighted to meet you,” she said with a straight face. “Anyway, I’m Shiniqua Chinna, the Ultimate Digital Artist,” she extended her hand for a handshake. He was joking about having a ‘friendly’ duel. “I’m sure if we had a showdown, it would end really early. Kousuke was awakened by the loudspeaker. He got up from the cold floor and saw many sinks and pink-coloured bathroom stalls. He stretched his arms and legs and looked around for the exit. It was at the right end of the bathroom. She walked towards the wooden door and opened it. It let out a scary creak. He realised, or more like assumed that he was in K.I.R.A. This felt weird. He followed the instructions that we’re said through the loudspeaker. It was too loud for him. “Ugh, how I wish I could smash this loudspeaker,” he rolled his eyes in annoyance. After walking straight for a few minutes, he was standing in what looked like a common room. A bit straight from there lead to an enormous room, which was labelled as the gymnasium. He assumed that this was the auditorium too, as there were a stage and a podium in the centre.

Just after a few minutes of his arrival, the lights went off and a huge monitor screen was turned on. A silhouette, which was revealed to be a giant bear made Kousuke chuckle. What kind of a joke was this? He listened in amusement and apparently they were stuck here until they murdered someone and not away with it. After the bear listed out a few rules, it suddenly disappeared. Even if this all sounded unreal, Kousuke kinda liked it. People may call him a psychopath or freak, but he didn’t care. He always loved eerie things. This looked a plot straight out of a horror movie and he was kinda digging it.

He was walking towards the stage to get his e-handbook, avoiding as much interaction as he can. When he was about to grab it, a ginger-haired girl jumped in front of him, offering candies. He backed away from the extremely bubbly girl. She held a handful of various candies and sweets. He pushed her hand away, making all candies fall on the ground and break. “No, no, NO!” he yelled at her with his eyes widened. All the memories of his father flashed in his head. He didn’t want to remember him. ‘Please go away!’ he thought to himself.

The last thing Hyosuke expected when he walked into this kitchen was this jumpy kid forcing a bowl of soup into his hands. Okay, sure, some part of his brain may have expected it, but it was a very, very tiny part. He blinked at the soup in surprise, a little bit insulted that someone had got to cooking here before him, and shrugged and dipped his fingertip in for a taste.

His brow furrowed as he sucked his finger. He slowly looked up at the boy who made it. “What did you put in this?” He asked.

As the man first approached to him looked at the soup and took a taste at it, Dijon looked at him with some worry that could possibly mean that his food could be bad or good. He gave a face that signaled Dijon to hide to the counters once more as he asked, “What did you put in this?”

“Gah! Erm… Tomatoes, some onions and spices for sautéing, salt, pepper, and a little bit of broth to have some taste? Did you not like it? I-if so, I could find a trash somewhere…” He said as he looked at the kitchen and slowly is coming out of the counter.

As she came to one fo the people for a great introduction, she did not expect that the first person she would meet would be… a little troubled by something she was confused at. As such, she looked at the candies on the floor and picked them all up, “Welp! I guess I could melt them and make it into a BIGGER candy! Haha~”

As she looked back to the man, she gave him a worrying smile to him, “Aw, is there a problem? Did I scare you with being so jumpy-rumpy? Maybe because… you don’t like sweet candies? Don’t worry, I have sour treats too! Tamarind!”

As she thinks about another thing that could made him like that, she gasped and looked to him, “Is it because I was rude?! Oh no~~ Let me do this again, my name is Etsuko Watakashi! “Salt and pepper…” Hyosuke mused, taking another taste. He put the bowl down on the counter. “You used black pepper, right?” He asked walking over to the stove. “That was your problem.”

He turned the stove back on and scooped up some of the leftover ingredients that the boy hadn’t cleaned up yet, dropping the tomatoes into boiling water to soften and preparing a pan over another hot burner. He coated the pan’s bottom with olive oil and sprinkled a generous amount of red pepper into it, mixing it all together thouroughly. “Red pepper brings out the sweetness of the onions and tomatoes better.” He explained, begining to saute the diced onions in the pepper-oil mixture. “My dad taught me that.”

The girl was so loud and full of life, it made him annoyed. Everyone was staring at them. He sighed and looked at her dead in the eye. “Please tone it down and back away from me,” he said slowly, in a slightly irritated tone. She had offered him some sour tamarind candies, which he immediately refused. “I don’t want any sort of candy or sweet, so leave me alone.” Kousuke was being really rude to the girl, but he didn’t care. Let her think whatever she wants of him. He wasn’t really the person who gave a good first impression.

Even after him being unnecessarily rude, she introduced herself as Etsuko who was the Ultimate Candymaker. “Look, I think you’re not getting the hint. Ultimate Basketball Player’s Lab || With Xiulan

Seemed like a compliment was the right way to go. Himari could not help but feel somewhat prideful after seeing Xiulan react so positively to her words. After all, kindness was always the easiest way to go so she was bound to make her feel better about herself some more later on. As she mentioned that her style was simply a modern take on Chinese imperial fashion, she glanced over and looked at her outfit once more. There was a small smile on her face as the two continued down the hall.
“Well, there’s more than just balls in here! But fair 'nough-- in the end, I guess it is just half of a basketball court… Still. It’s so pretty with the glowing lights and…” She trailed off, sighing dreamily. If there was a talent lab for her as well, she just knew that she would spend every moment in there-- forget escape. If there’s an exit, then she could leave whenever she wanted.
As Xiulan began speaking to her once again, she snapped out of her daydream and directed her attention towards her. “Of course! If they’re all this extreme, then I’d love to! But does that you’re not going to look as well? You could at least come and look in the rooms with me-- we may just see some pretty cool stuff!”

For once, he could not stop his mouth from twitching upwards. It had almost formed into a smile but he had luckily managed to wipe it away-- it was not a smile of kindness, per se, but rather one of amusement at her response to his introduction. It did surprise him that she still extended her hand to him but he would not refuse despite the clear tension and hostility thus far between the two. “Ah, let me be the bigger person in this case, then: I’m delighted to meet you, Shiniqua.”
That was more than likely the first and only time that he would refer to her by name. He was taking a liking to ‘little one’ but he decided that he needed to try other nicknames. Just to make sure that that was the best-suited one. "Did you black out when I was introducing myself? I’m fairly confident that I would still win. Blind or otherwise, little artist."
Following her unpleasant snickering, he listened to her speak. With a raised brow, he responded, “Oh? All I’m saying is that you initiated this one-sided smack-down. Also, you want to judge my nicknames when the best you could come up with was ‘Mr. Skyscraper’?” He paused for a moment in thought before adding, “Would like the honor of choosing your nickname then? What’ll it be? Pipsqueak, little one, little artist, toddler, princess, pint-size? Or do you feel better connected to something else? I’m sure if I think hard enough that I could find the perfect one in just a bit.”

She noticed a small smile but decided to not tell him about it. “Thank you very much! It takes so much effort to be the bigger person, am I right? But, I wouldn’t want to waste my precious energy to be nice to you!” she looked at him up and down. He was actually quite tall. Shiniqua had to raise her head a bit to talk to him. He was sure he would win the fight between them. "Talk about narcissism, " she mumbled to herself and rolls her eyes.

“We’ll see about that when you’ll probably get murdered for unapologetically being a jerk.” she looked at him dead in the eye and moved closer. Ryo was listing out different nicknames if you would call it that, for her. “I’m impressed someone like you could come with these many names in such a short amount of time.” she pretended to be impressed. “There are too many names on my list. You want me to tell a few? Well, how about beanstalk, palm tree, spaghetti, giraffe, tower, Everest, ostrich, or even Q-tip? That’s my fav!”
