Dark Moments in Kids Shows

When you were younger, was there a moment in a show you were watching that shocked you to this day? I remember the old CBBC shows in the early 2010s had some genuinely dark moments that I wasn’t expecting:

  • Tracy Beakers Returns - Lily fell off the roof

  • The Sparticle Mystery - When Kat’s dad was fine with Reese dying if it meant they could bring back the adults

  • Wolfblood - Yana finding the remains of an entire wolfblood pack killed by hunters

  • Young Dracula - Vlad kills Bertrand and then, later on, has a hallucination of him, who says “I thought you were my friend. Turns out you were my executioner”

Lol you mentioned Tracy Beaker returns now I must go through every dark moment I can remember.

  • you mentioned Lily and the roof
  • Carmen fell through a bridge
  • Gus fell through a roof
  • Jody had an allergic reaction to cake
  • Mike got injured when the roof of Saphires old flat caved in
  • Tracy got pushed down some stairs
  • Tee fell out a tree

Now for the dumping ground

  • a grenade was thrown injuring Gina
  • Faith was hit by a car
  • Mo was knocked unconcious by a scarecrow

I just thought of a few more right now:

  • The Story of Tracy Beaker - Crash’s anger issues caused by his dad essentially abusing him

  • Sarah Jane Adventures - Clyde’s curse that caused everyone around him to hate him and he ends up becoming homeless

  • Tracy Beaker Returns - Toby’s mental breakdown after being bullied by Electra’s old friends

  • Hetty Feather - When one of the foundling girls fell down the stairs and died

  • Trapped - A game show where the kids have to play minigames and one kid is chosen to sabotage it so everyone loses but without getting caught (the saboteur) and then they vote for who thinks did it at the end. The kid that gets the most votes is “trapped” in that room of the tower for all eternity. How lovely!

I remember all of those moments

How about in young Dracula when Erin gets bitten and hates Vlad then eventually ends up dead anyway.

Or when Vlad is evil Vlad and he pushes Ingrid out into the sun which causes her to need therapy.

When Vlad has to erase the memories of Robin and his family to protect his family.

In wolfblood when Janas pack moves on without her.

Sparticle Mystery where the evil queen person started destroying all the toys and had them all in cages (tf)

I swear some dark stuff went on in the later series’ of M.I.High

Now for some CITV shows

The entire of Grizzly tales for gruesome kids

There was a gameshow called “The eliminator” where you had to answer questions in order to move forward if you got one wrong the eliminator would move forward (big cloaked weird guy) if he gets you you’re eliminated

Scratch and Sniffs den of doom, if you answer a question wrong you move forward towards this hole if you answer too many wrong you drop down the hole into a cooking pot where you get eaten???

My parents are Aliens, the kids are orphans and whenever they talk about their parents it’s sad. When Harriet joins and you find out how her entire family died in a house fire.

Jungle run, if you get trapped in the temple at the end then you belong to the jungle king. Plus in the challenges if you get trapped your team mates can choose to sacrifice a statue to let you out imagine someone saying “nah we’re not gonna let you out you’re not worth a statue”

The number of people that died, almost died or had their lives ruined on Young Dracula was so high! It was dark af but I loved watching it.

I remember that! I also remember when queen kylie wiped Aris’s memory and kidnapped Orion

There was this one time when Carrie had to sacrifice herself to undo the grand master’s scheme and save the world

I didn’t watch CITV as much as CBBC but Grizzly Tales gave me nightmares lmao

Lol grizzly tales gave me nightmares too there was this one episode about a “sleep stealer” and if you don’t fall asleep he comes and steals it.

I have trouble falling asleep and this scared the hell out of me :joy:.

Very bleak! And the only show mentioned I’ve seen.

Did anyone else watch the movie Return To Oz? In it, Dorothy gets electroshock therapy for believing in Oz. It’s truly scary and weird for a kids movie but I loved it and was also terrified of it :joy:

Omg :joy: Spongebob could be dark sometimes.

Don’t get me started on the splinter episode or the one where squidward looses a toenail :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:
