Discussion: Is Water Wet?

Okay, this is been a very long, ongoing debate that has been discussed for many months. And yes, I am that type of person to bring this debate back up… I’m sorry guys :joy: I think water is wet, HOWEVER, when you get in the water, you’re not wet… I don’t know.

What do you guys think?

The laws of fluid dynamics goes a bit further into more complex areas than ‘is this wet’.

But the dumbed down version is the definition. ‘Wet’ doesn’t actually refer to the qualities of water itself. ‘Wet’ refers to effect water as a fluid has when it sticks to certain surfaces. If you spill water on yourself, that area is now ‘wet’. But water doesn’t stick to water. So. Yeah.

The more interesting freaky thing is that did you know according to the laws of fluid dynamics, air is technically a fluid? Because it rolls over and sticks to things like water does. Crazy

So water isn’t wet?

Not it’s not, but whatever. Air is a fluid!

Water is not wet. Wetness is the state of having water on something. You can’t have one body of water on top of the other. It would just become the same water

Also, in order to be wet, the object needs the ability to become dry. You cannot have dry water

I’m pretty sure water isn’t wet.
But so many people think water’s wet.
